I Have To Ask..

After much encuragement and prompting from Vincent and Tenshi, Ancelin had finally given up and called Jan.
"I need to see you. Is there any way I could meet you someplace or that you could come to my apartment?" was what An had said when she called her via cell phone. She now sat on the couch in her apartment with her elbows on her knees and her chin resting on her laced hands. She had told Erik to stay in his cage for this, and that she had something important to take care of.

The girl sighed as she stared at the neatly wrapped box that she planned on giving to Jan the next time she saw her. But now wasn't the right time. She picked up the box and put it in the drawer on the little end table by the couch, before she began pacing the room. Her heart was beating so fast she could hear it in her ears and her stomach was churning with anxiety. She didn't even know what she was going to say. Or what Jan was going to say to her.

Jan showed up with her knapsack over one shoulder and a bouquet of large daisies in her right hand. Her left hand rapped its knuckles against the wood of Ancelin's door and after a brief, musical knock, she seemed content with waiting for the door to be answered. The tall blonde had another large pair of shades on, a form-fitting black t-shirt that read "Prepare for Chaos!" with a picture of a dinosaur eating stick people, faded, torn blue jeans, a belt made of bottle caps, and a pair of simple, hemp flip-fops. Jan tended to be stylin'. Probably more-so than any of the other sin'aeis.

A lazy grin lingered on her tan, freckled face.

Ancelin took a deep breath and walked over to the door. She looked threw the peep hole, before she undid the locks and opened the door. When Jan would see her, she would see that she was wearing one of her typical summer dresses, white with black flowers, with a black waste band that had smaller white flowers. On her feet she had her blue fuzzy slippers, she didn't like wearing her shoes in the main bulk of the house.
"Hey Jan.." Ancelin said softly, with a tired and worried expression on her face.

"Come on in. Can I get you anything to drink?" she said as she stepped behind the door to let the taller girl in. It was easy to tell she was nervous by the fiant trembling in her shoulders.

Jan was also probably one of the most chillax of the sin'aeis. The blonde raised an eyebrow at Ancelin's tone and appearance and entered, reaching out with her left hand to squeeze the other girl's shoulder. "Woah, girl... Y'need t'relax. S'goin' on?" Letting go, the tall girl shut the door and headed into the tiny kitchen, putting the daisies in water. This was a comfortable act for her, so was opening the knapsack and removing various produce. Since Lyrus has been on his own, she dropped by vegetables and fruits for him once a week. She would probably do the same for the pheasant girl now. After all, since the plant incident, she'd been growing three times the expected amount.

"I though' I'd bring ya some fresh stuff from m'garden. S'all washed, dun worry."

Ancelin walked to the opening of the kitchen and smiled meekly as she watched the taller girl.
"Thank you. It's hard finding decent produce in today's markets." She said, before she looked down at the ground. She did need to relax, but she knew that wasn't going to happen until she got answers.

"Will you come sit with me in the living room? I have something I need to ask you."

Okay. This was quickly getting weird. Still, Jan remained relaxed, simply nodding. She stopped unpacking the produce and followed the shorter girl, lounging comfortably on her couch, arms stretched out along the top of it. It was hard to believe that the soft spoken, gentle, sweet and relaxed Jan was also the same Jan that'd punched a man for killing her plants, thrown wild trouble-makers out of the club, and broken Steve's ribs.

"Go 'head 'n ask, Ancelin. Y'know y'kin ask me anythin'."

Ancelin followed Jan into the living room and folded her arms in her lap, body hunched forward. She thought for a moment. She knew what she would get from Jan. Blunt answers. Blunt, and unemotional answers. But she thought she was afraid to know them.
"Where yout he one who attacked Steve?" she asked, her eyes closed as her thumbs fiddled together in front of her.

Not moving much, the potato sin simply lifted her shades with a hand, so they rested on the top of her hair.

"Yeah." Jan's half-closed, serious brown eyes were locked on the other girl. Ancelin was exactly right. The blonde answered the question. She didn't look sorry, either.

Ancelin nodded her head. She wasn't so upset that Jan had assulted him. Infact, she was glad to know that Steve was suffering. She laced her fingers together, asking the next question. Again expecting a blunt answer.
"Do you know what he did to me?" she said, biting her lip at the end of it. She prayed that she didn't. But deep down she knew that her prayers where gonna go unanswered.

"No." The corner of her mouth lifted slightly, although it wasn't a very humorous smile. She didn't, couldn't, know exactly what happened, because Ancelin hadn't told her. Even though she was supposed to be Ancelin's best friend.

Ancelin exhailed softly as she let out a releived smile.
"Oh thank god.." she said, before she turned her head back to Jan. She sat up and reached out, gently resting her hand on Jan's thigh, giving it a firm squeeze.
"I was so afraid that you knew.." She said, before she frowned. "But I guess that you want to know.. I.. I'm afraid Jan. I'm afraid of what you'll think of me if I tell you. That's why I didn't call you that night. I didn't know that Vincent would."

"I'm not stupid, Ance. I kin guess wha' 'appened. Wha' I said es tha' I don' 'xactly knaow fer sure." Jan sat up, forearms resting on her thighs, head turned toward Ancelin. "Y'wanna know what I thin'? I don' thin' badly o'ya. Or I wouldn' 'ave taken y'ta lunch. I wouldn' 'ave given Steve wha' he deserved." The blonde frowned. "Et wasn' yer fault."

Ancelin turned her head forward as she closed her eyes. She couldn't fight crying. Every time she thought back to that night, she felt violated all over again and she would start crying. The girl hugged her arms to her stomach as she bit down onto her lip, warm tears rolling down her face.
"I'm sorry Jan.. I tried to stop him. I tried to push him away." she choked. "I wanted my first time to be with you.. Now I'm just damaged and filfthy goods."

********. Ancelin was crying. Jan actually got kind of angry, and reached over, grabbing the other girl's chin, to make her look at the blonde. Her tone was firm. "Y'lis'en t'me. Don' be sorry. Ain' yer fault." Pause. "Yer no' filthy 'er damaged." Pause. "I've 'ad sex, too. Wasn' th' best experience. Y'don' think I'm damaged 'n filthy, d'ya?" Well, they both knew that Ancelin thought she was DIRTY, but that was different, and Jan didn't think being dirty was particularly bad.

Ancelin looked to Jan and sniffled, before she gently took hold of Jan's wrist that was holding her chin.
"No.. But you weren't taken against your will.. I feel dirty, Jan. I feel dirty, filthy and disgusting. Everywhere he touched me.. I just want to rip the skin away to remove traces that he was ever there." she said as she leened in closer to the blond teen. Her works where interupted by cracks in her voice and quick inhails. She then let out a whine, gasping for air between sobs. She didn't know what else to say.

Jan didn't know what to do. So she did what she'd done since they were younger when she couldn't find the words. The blonde closed the small gap between them to give Ancelin a purposefully gentle, caring kiss. When she pulled away, she shook her head slowly. "Yer gonna be alrigh', Ancelin. He's gross, not ya."

Ancelin sniffled and leened in for Jan to kiss her. Once she did, she leened in closer to the teen and wrapped her arms around her stomach. An laid her head on Jan's chest, while she squeezed her tight.
"I just don't know what to do Jan. I thought he was my friend. One of my closest friends. And now I never want to see him again. I don't know if I ever, ever want to have sex again."

Jan held Ancelin. A weird thing, for them, but these were really, really special circumstances. Stroking her hair with a hand, she looked thoughtful. "Wha' he wan'ed was more impor'an' t'him than how ya felt about et. Tha's a painful thin' t'find out, I know."

Ancelin nodded her head as she took in a deep breath. She was trying to calm herself down. Her breathing was getting deeper, no longer the borderline hyperventalating that she had been doing before. She simply squeezed Jan tight and burried her face in her chest, holding onto her.
".. Do you still find me attractive?" she asked quietly under her breath.

"Wha' 'appened with Steve hasn' changed how I feel 'bout ya, et all." Jan's tone was slightly amused, but only in the sense of increduality. As if she couldn't even believe that Ancelin had needed to ask that. "Y'wan me t'stay fer awhile?"

Ancelin thought for a second, and then nodded her head into the blonds chest. As if that wasn't answer enough, she began squeezing her arms around her even tighter.
"Please.. I can show ya my new bird.. He's real sweet now that he's settled." She said, her voice clear again, but still quiet.

"Alrigh'. Show me yer bird." Jan squeezed Ancelin back momentarily before freeing herself and getting to her feet. That attractive grin flashed onto her face. "Y'wan ME t' git YOU a drink?"

Ancelin whiped her face with the back of her hand as Jan got up, and nodded her head.
"There's some koolaid in the fridge.. A glass of that would be nice." She said, before she got up and went to open her bedroom door.
"Erik, you can come out now if you'd like. I want you to meet Jan." she said, calling out. If Jan was listening, she could hear a quail-like sound come from the bedroom. But to An's ears it sounded like an 'okay'.

Jan made a face when Ancelin wasn't looking and headed into the kitchen. Once there, the girl finished unpacking her knapsack, removing the jug of milk and another of juice that she'd brought over. A peek into Ancelin's fridge also brought on a frown. Maybe Ancelin was cleaner, dirt-wise, but when it came to nutrition? Jan was golden and Ancelin was a bit smudged. The tall blonde poured a glass of orange juice for Ancelin instead.

Walking into the livingroom, she raised her eyebrows at the sight of the bird. It looked like... "A pheasant?" She held out the glass of what was clearly not-koolaid to Ancelin.

Ancelin took the glass and without thinking sipped from it. She made a face of surprise when she tasted something she wasn't expecting, but shrugged it off and continued to drink.
"Yes. A Lady Amhert's Pheasant. His name is Erik." An smiled as she leaned over.

Erik wobbled into the room and looked up to Jan, continueing to coo and make his quial-like whistle. He then turned his head to An, and she smiled.
"He thinks you're pretty."

Jan's left eyebrow shot up at those words and the blonde shifted to one knee on the carpet, head tilting at the bird. "Es tha' so? Y'kin understan' 'im?" It sounded weird, but Jan knew she could do some strange things. Of course, no one else knew that. Other than maybe Illesi.

Ancelin nodded her head as she ran her hand over Erik's back, gently petting his smooth feathers.
"Uh huh. You're actually the first person I told this to.. Not even Vincent knows. But I can talk to birds. To me, it sounds like Erik is speaking perfect English. And when I go for walks, bird whistling actually sounds like beautiful choirs of music." she said, she was facinated by her new powers, and for that matter loved them.

"Woah... " That sounded a helluva lot cooler than Jan's powers, actually. Though, in all honesty, Jan had some of the most useful Sin'aeis powers to be discovered so far. Interested, she decided maybe, just maybe it was time to talk about these things. Jan seemed like the most normal. Reaching out gently and slowly to stroke the pheasant, she spoke in a low voice.

"I 'ave powers, too."

Ancelin's smile remained as she turned her head to Jan.
"Really? Like what?" she asked. Erik closed his eyes and leened into Jan's stroke, his wig of feathers spreading outward in full plume. An sat down on her knees and continued to sip the orange juice as she waited for Jan's reply. Getting rid of the lump in her throat.

"I've always known 'ow ta take care o' any plant. 'n I mean, any. But I kin also find plants I've seen before, fin' pests hidin' in th' ground aroun' my plants, 'n produce tons o' food with only a bit o' seed. All withou' thinkin' twice bou' et... The newest, 'n weirdes', though... Lately, I git feelin's bou' the weather. 'N... They've all been righ'. I thin' I kin predict th' weather, Ance."

Ancelin continued to gaze at Jan with a completely open minded expression. Yeah, alot of the things they where saying could be thought of as crazy by most. But with all the strange things An was discovering about herself, she could easily believe that about Jan.
"That's amazing. You'd make a great weather girl, then." She giggled. "I know I'd watch the news more often if someone cute like you was predicting the weather." she said, Erik shot Ancelin a funny look.

Jan's laugh was short, and somewhat amused as she shook her short hair. "Naw, I dun think tha's what I'm s'posed t'do." A long pause, and she glanced over at Ancelin. "I met somebody."

An held down the glass to Erik and let the bird sniff it and dip his beak a few times. An only bought organic orange juice, so she wasn't afraid about him trying it.
"Oh?" An asked as she turned her gaze back to the taller blond. Her expression turned a little puzzled.
"Do they know something about our powers?"

"Yea, he does." Jan's brow furrowed. "He... 'Is name es Illesi, 'n he gave 'em to us. " Jan laughed. "We've got jobs! Th' powers go with 'em." That large, charming grin. "I'm a farmer, naw tha' et's a surprise t'me."

Ancelin blinked as she tilted her head to the side. She kinda grasped what Jan was saying, but not entirely. The name.. it sounded so eerily familiar.
"Illesi.. Does he have anything to do with Chaco or the mansion? I swear I've heard that name before." she said as he brow furrowed in confusion.

"Jobs.. Jobs that are powers influance?" she said, that all sounded so bizzare.

"Yea." Jan shook her head. "We're... ol' souls, from 'nuther dimension. We've all got jobs in th' kingdom, th' castle. Ilesi gives jobs, Chaco creates us."

Ancelin nodded her head slowly. She didn't understand it 100%, but she believed what Jan was saying.
"And you met this Illesi? Is it possible for me to see him too? I want to know more about these powers I'm getting. If it's true, I want to know more."

"He's naw verra 'elpful, Ance. He won' tell ya anythin', 'less ya alrea'y know summin. Mignon tol' me bout th' job thing, 'n I figured I was prolly a farmer, so I 'ad t'convince 'im o' that firs'." Jan shrugged. "But yea, I met him. He's trapped en a crystal, en Chaco's room."

Ancelin frowned and nodded her head, setting the glass on the ground. She crossed her arms and frowned, before she let out a scoff of a laugh.
"I always figured I'd be a maid when I grew up. But I don't think talking to birds has anything to do with cleaning a mansion. Nor automatically knowing what they eat and need to servive." she said as she nodded to Erik.

"I didn't even have to do any research to find out what he needed, I automatically knew."

Jan shrugged. "I'd say ya o'viously got summat t'do with birds, then." Knowing what birds wanted was like knowing what plants wanted, wasn't it? "Besides, et's prolly taken y'this long, since apparently, we're born with three poss'ble jobs, and as we age, one comes out. All my jobs 'ad t'do with nature. All yers prolly didn't 'ave t'do with birds, then."

Ancelin frowned.
"When I was younger, I got the ability to see specs of dirt and grime, no matter how small.. Believe me. It makes life kinda difficult." She admitted.
"The mansion doesn't even keep birds.. I don't think. It's odd. I have no idea what I could be. I guess I have more exploring to do in the mansion.." she admitted as she looked down to Erik, who had taken to wobbling around the room.

"'Ell, the mansion dun 'ave a farm, either, but 'ere I am. All m'powers got magnified by Illesi. I thin' et's our job to create those thin's." Jan frowned. "I'll try ta 'elp ya figure yers out."

Ancelin nodded her head.
"Thanks. I'll be sure to start doing more thinking on it, aswell. And more research around the mansion." She said. She then stood up with the glass in hand and took it to the sink, immediately washing it out and cleaning it.

"I guess it has something to do with taking care of birds. It's just kinda weird, birds have only recently become an interest of mine. All my life I've been busy with cleaning and taking care of fish." She shrugged. "Guess you can't help fate."

"I'd rather be a gard'ner, I'm naw tha' in'erested en growin' food, but eh." She grinned. "We kin still 'ave our 'obbies." Jan rubbed the back of her head with one hand and Erik with the other. "I gotta go t'work t'nigh'."

Ancelin finished putting the glass back in the cubbard. She guessed that was true, she could still clean and take care of fish on the side. At Jan's last sentance though, her eyes widened a bit.
"Oh, you don't have to stay any longer if you have other things to do." she said, looking to the side.
"I'm sorry if I was an inconvience calling you over."

"Naw, et wasn' any trouble." A short pause, and she stood, walking to the kitchen to lean against the counter. "Y'wan' me t'come back when I git off?" A short laugh. "Y'migh' not, since ya'll prolly be asleep, tha'late."

Ancelin thought on that option and looked to Jan, hopeful.
"I could give you a key, and if I'm asleep when you get here you could wake me?" she said. "I'd love it if you could come back afterwards.. I don't really feel comfortable by myself anymore."

"Alrigh', no prollem." A short grin and Jan rolled her shoulders. "I gotta git goin', so..." Give me that key, woman.

Ancelin walked over to the counter that Ancelin had put the gift box in earlier. She eyed the box for a moment, and decided that later would be better. She then reached into a metal tin that had random items in it, and pulled out a keyring with a spare apartment key on it.

"Here you go. You can keep it, you're welcome anytime." She said as she held the key out to Jan, a smile on her face.

Jan nodded, smiling, and took the key, giving Ancelin a quick hug, grabbing her now empty knapsack, she walked out into the livingroom. "'Bye, Erik." The girl left pheasant and pheasant alone.

Honey, I'm Hooooome!

It'd been a pretty good night. Loads of tips, and since it was girl night, she'd been allowed to go unbound, which was a helluva lot more comfortable. A little buzzed, she still had in all of her various piercings from work. Luckily, none of them had ever gotten infected, Jan was the healthy, hardy sort. A hooded tanktop, a thick, rainbow belt, suspenders, and well-fitting boardshorts rounded out the outfit.

The freckled girl had almost headed home when she remembered what she'd told Ancelin, and headed in the opposite direction. Luckily, the club wasn't far from either of their apartments. At about 2:45am, she unlocked the door and made her way inside. Shoes were discarded by the front door and her keys, wallet and sunglasses were left on the kitchen counter when she got a drink.

A quick stop in the bathroom, a few minutes, and brushed teeth later and she opened the door to Ancelin's bedroom, movements as quiet as ever, only... The light was on?

"Hey," The tipsy girl's grin was a charming as always.

Ancelin had wanted to stay up until Jan had gotten home. But let's face it, little miss 'I'm a good girl' couldn't stay up past midnight to save her life. So there lay Ancelin on her bed in her room, with all the lights still on.

There was a romance novel and a CD player laying at her side, the little speakers still plugged into her ears even though the CD had ended hours ago. An had changed into her jammies already, but she had taken to wearing the bottoms with the top the past week rather than just going with just her panties.

The girl exhailed softly in her sleep, not really a snore, but her breaths where loud enough to know she was sleeping. The girl smacked her lips as if her tongue was dry from breathing with her mouth, and she rolled over onto her other side.
"Nnnnh.. No.. No stop.." An muttered in her sleep, apparently she was having a bad dream.

Jan, realizing that Ancelin was actually asleep, didn't lose her grin and moved farther into the room, gently removing the cd player, headphones, and book from the bed. Making a face at the novel's cover, she tossed it onto a spare chair, setting the other objects on a dresser. Sliding onto the bed, Jan lightly shook Ancelin's shoulder, rousing her from her nightmare.

"Hey, Ance... Couldn' stay up, eh?"

Ancelin moaned softly and opened her eyes to Jan's shaking, before she rolled onto her back to look at the taller girl.
"Oh Jan.. Yeah.." She nodded as she rubbed her eyes and let out a big yawn. She had brushed her teeth just before laying down, so thankfully 'morning breath' hadn't taken ahold of her mouth yet.

"How was work?" she asked as she smiled up at the blond, rolling closer to her as she wrapped an arm around Jan's side to give her a tight hug.

Jan didn't move away from the physical contact, brushing her bangs from her eyes with a relaxed, warm smile. "Et was gal's nigh', so et was gay girls, naw guys. Tha's always a pleasan' change." And the reason Jan looked extra-hot. She put in a little more effort on girls' nights. Just because. "Course, I had'a wear my gear."

Like the charming tongue piercing that flashed as she spoke. "Wha' were ya dreamin' bout?"

Ancelin nodded her head as she listened to Jan. She didn't really seem to notice the peircings and metal, still groggy from her half sleep. After she was content to hug the taller girl she let go and sat up, streching her body.

She slumped and frowned at the question about what she was dreaming about.
"I've been having nightmares these past couple nights.. This time I was walking home from work and someone grabbed me and pulled me into an alley and.." She got silent, not wanting to say the next part. She shook her head and looked to Jan, smiling softly.

"Can I get you anything to eat or drink? I made some vegetarian stuffed pepers with the food you brought me earlier." she said softly. Lately, An had been trying to improve her cooking skills. Which was why there where a few cook books stashed in with her hoard of romance novels under her bed.

"Aw, I'm sorry, Ance. Tha' sounds bad." The blond reached over Ancelin to flick off the lights. "Naw, I'll eat en a few hours when we git up 'gain. No poin' en you rousin' yerself even more." Not bothering to undress or anything like that, Jan slid under the covers, warm body against Ancelin's back. "Y'thin' you'll be able t'sleep betta now?"

Ancelin smiled softly and nodded her head as she felt Jan's body curl up against her own.
"Yeah.. I'm sure I'll be able to sleep fine with you here." An whispered as she let her body relax against the matress once again.

Even with the lights turned off the room wasn't completely black. The lights in the fish tanks left part of the room in a faint glow. Which was good because Ancelin didn't like being in the pitch darkness. The pheasant girl reached back and gently stroked Jan's arm while her head rested on a pillow.
"I'm glad you here.. I feel so much safer with you around."

"Et's naw a big deal. No prollem. Jes' git some rest, alrigh'?" Jan blew lightly on the back of Ancelin's neck, seeking to lighten the mood, before sighing and relaxing. "G'nigh', Ancelin." They would talk, eat, whatever, during a more decent time of day.

Ancelin nodded her head and sighed contently as she took hold of Jan's hand and pulled it over to the front of her body. She held onto the blond's arm until she fell asleep.

Ancelin dreamt again that night, still sexual in nature. But in no way whatsoever was that a bad thing. Apparently the presence and sent of the young woman beside her was enough to ease the girls nightmares.

------------------------------------

Ancelin had her day off today, thankfully, so there was no need to set an alarm. The pheasant girl awoke around 11am and rolled over onto her back. She turned her head and looked to the sleeping Jan, before she let out a soft smile.

An sat up, careful not to disturb the sheets laying over the potato girl, before she thought to herself quietly. She quietly snuck out of the bed, and then carefully proceeded to brush her teeth, fix her hair, and prepare breakfast. She'd save a shower for later incase Jan decided to join her.

A good half hour later she walked back into the room with a tray in hand. She had brought the breakfast into the room so the two girls could dine together in the comfort of her bedroom.
"Jan.. It's time for breakfast." She spoke softly as she leened over and gave the girl a kiss on the cheek. All the while being careful not to spill the contents of her tray that she was holding out to the side.

Jan'd gotten a good eight hours of sleep or so, which was nice. She didn't tend to oversleep, so when Ancelin reentered the room and gave her that kiss, she let her eyes open, taking in the bedroom, An's good-morning face, and the breakfast... True to farmer lore, Jan was a hearty eater and grinned at the sight of the meal. Of course, she may have been a superior cook but a meal you didn't have to prepare yourself was a meal you didn't have to prepare yourself!

"'Mornin, Ance! This's migh'y sweet o' ya." Reminded her of the last time they'd had a little sleepover. Hadn't Ancelin made her breakfast, then, too?

Ancelin smiled and crawled back onto the bed, sitting next to the girl. She set the tray onto the matress in front of them. To prevent juice from spilling she had brought two empty glasses and put the orange juice in a capped bottle.

She had made omellete with diced onion, tomato and cheese for the main meal, and then had popped those stuffed pepers out of their container. They where best served cold anyways. She also had some toast with jelly spread on them and a bowl of mixed fruit.

"I hope it tastes alright." An said as she poured some of the juice into the two glasses. "Vin-vin says my cooking has been getting better. I've been practicing." She said, she wasn't going to add the fact that she had been forcing Vincent to eat her food every day.. That part didn't need to be mentioned.

"Did you sleep okay?" She asked, sipping from her glass.

Jan began to tuck in. It didn't take long. The food disappeared rapidly, and the fit blonde look satisfied as she swallowed her juice down. Obviously, Ancelin had practiced making breakfast enough on Vincent for it to be good for Jan, and the girl's morning appetite was impressive, anyway. She'd slept in really late, for her. It was almost time for lunch.

"I slept jes' fine. How 'bout ya? No nigh'mares?"

Ancelin chewed on her meal slowly and contently. Her bubble butt didn't come from nothing, An had a good sized appitite. Which was good because she made plenty to go around. The girl nodded her head at the question, and flushed a little as she started to remember it.

"I 'ad a crazy dream 'bout figh'in' giant locusts." Jan chuckled. "Wha'd ya dream 'bout?" a purely innocent question, and the blonde picked up a piece of toast, biting into it with obvious pleasure. Good food was good.

Ancelin giggled at Jan's dream, covering her mouth to avoid spitting up food. She swallowed it down and picked up her glass.
"Uh... Just a wet dream, nothing special." An muttered quickly before she stuck a spoon full of that peper into her mouth.

"So how did you end up defeating the locusts?"

Jan's grin was almost scary, with it's ferocity. "Fire." Maelon probably would've wet his pants. Speaking of wetting... The blonde's brows rose slightly and she took another drink of juice. "Nothin' special? Why? Y'ave 'em a lot?" You couldn't blame a girl for being curious.

Ancelin cursed Jan's hearing, apparently it was well enough to hear what she said. An shook her head lightly.
"Not alot.. But Shi-shi says there would be something wrong with me if I didn't have them. So that means they're nothing special, right?" She said matter of factly. It was true. An hung her head and let out a scoff of a laugh.

"That statement was followed by a 'I would know. I have them every night!'" she said, sometimes she wondered if there was something wrong with her gaurdian.

Oh, there most certainly was. Jan's laugh was low and she finished her breakfast. She'd had a dream not too long ago, involving Dee, leather cuffs, and chocolate. It'd been a good one. Nonetheless, the blonde sin'aeis was willing to let Ancelin slide on her sex dream.

"Lyrus got a cat... I mean, well, a lil' kid. Kin'a like a cat." Sure, Ancelin didn't seem to like it when Jan talked about any of her friends, but... There wasn't much to talk about.

Ancelin's face paled at the word 'cat'. Urgh, she hated them so. Infact, one had attacked Erik. She wasn't sure if she told Jan about that yet.
"Oh?" She asked as she looked to the girl.
"I haven't seen Lyrus in a long time. How is he doing? Besides adopting a child, that is." she asked. She didn't know Lyrus ALL that well.. But she had heard a good deal of talk about him. Somehow him adopting a child just seemed a little out of character for him. But, as she had said, she hadn't seen him in a long time.

"Eh, he's alrigh'. We've 'ad a recen' dis'greemen' 'bout summat, but he's doin' pretty well fer 'imself. Th' kid, I named 'im Benjamin, he's cute. I go over ev'ry other day t'elp out with 'im." Rolling her shoulders, Jan moved the tray from the bed to the dresser, so she could stretch out her long legs, and laid back down, expression thoughtful as she clicked her tongue ring along her teeth.

She should probably go home soon to change her club clothes.

Ancelin nodded her head as she folded her arms over her knees, watching Jan spread out. She began lacing her fingers together, twiddling her thumbs slowly.
"That's a cute name.." She said softly as she looked to the young woman. She had a soft pause, before she glanced off to the other side of the room.
"You wanna take a shower? There's some of Shi-shi's clothes from the last time she stayed over. They'd probably fit you." she suggested.

Jan's face brightened. That'd be nice, really, to shower. "Tha's a good idea..." Swinging her legs over the side of the bed the blonde stretched her arms high above her head, yawning. God, that felt great. "S'there towels en th'bathroom alrea'y?"

Ancelin got off the bed and walked over to her dresser before she opened the bottom drawer and retreived Tenshi's old clothes. She then stood up and pushed it shut with her foot.
"Yup, fresh clean towels. They're hanging on the rack above the toilet." she said as she turned around and held the clothes out for the taller girl. Depending on if she got an invite to join her, she'd probably just go to the kitchen and wash the dishes from their breakfast.

"There's a spare tooth brush in the medicine cabnet too that you can use, still in the package."

"I know," a quick grin "Tha's wha' I used las' nigh'." The blonde accepted the clothing with a thank you and headed for the bathroom. A few moments after the water was turned on, she stuck her head out the door. "Ance... Kin ya gimmie a hand? I keep turnin' on th'hot water, 'n et's jes' cold." What she didn't know was that the faucets in Ancelin's house were reversed. Something that could be fixed easily, but something that was annoying to those that didn't know.

"Oh, the handels are on the wrong sides." An said as she quickly followed the girl into the bathroom. She bent over and turned on the cold water knob. She stuck her hand under the water waiting for it to get warm, and after it took too long Ancelin grimaced.

"One moment." She said with a soft smile before she got into the tub and lifted her foot. She then gave the shower wall that the faucets where attached too three good kicks. A squeeling could be heard, and then a few pops, and finally hot steam started to come from the water flow.

An then turned on the cold using the handel marked 'H' and stepped out of the tub, adjusting her bangs as she smiled at Jan.
"It should work just fine now." she grinned.

Her laughter was delighted. She'd never seen Ancelin do something so... Butch, really. Grinning back for a moment, there was suddenlt the awkward second where the realization that she was going to be naked soon, and that Ancelin was still in the bathroom, but it would be weird to mention she was still there, hit. "Ah..." Jans fingers found their way into her own hair again.

"Than's."

Ancelin giggled a little as she put a hand up to her mouth to hide her smile. Secretly, Ancelin loved doing that every morning. It gave her a nice rush to suddenly assault the wall like that, and after all, nobody was getting hurt.

"I'll uh..." Ancelin said, realising that she was probably in the way. "Let you get to your shower then." She said as she quickly trotted out of the room. She shut the door behind her and let out a little sad sigh. Oh well, maybe next time.

Well, Jan had no idea if she'd have let Ancein join her, because the thought hadn't crossed her mind. You never knew if you didn't ask. Oh well. Jan clicked the lock on the door and stripped down, getting into the hot water. Twenty minutes later, she was out, a towel around the important parts and a second around her neck, collecting the drips from her rapidly drying hair.
"...Ance...?" Jan padded out into the livingroom area. "Showers free, ef ya wan' et"

Ancelin was in the kitchen, finishing up washing the dishes. The good thing about living in an apartment complex, multiple water heaters. Not to mention this place used gas rather than electric.

"Alright. I'll be there in a minute." Ancelin called from the kitchen as she stacked the clean plates in the cabnet. She picked up a bowl that she had prepared while the girl was in the shower and set it on the ground.
"Erik, breakfast!"

The pheasant came trotting out of the cage that was by the bathrom door and looked up to Jan. Ah, it was the woman again. He tilted his head to the side as he looked at her, before he quickly scuttled into the kitchen to the bowl. He began pecking away at the grain, and Ancelin smiled as she stroked his back.

"Do Shi's clothes fit okay?" An asked as she started to walk back towards the bedroom, not laying eyes on the taller girl yet.

After waving at Erik in greeting, Jan raised an eyebrow at the blue-haired girl's back.

Ancelin obviously hadn't realized that Jan wasn't in the bedroom changing, so the blonde followed after the shorter girl. The clothes were still on the bed, after all. Jan'd set them there on her way out, since she hated when they got steam all over them. Entering the room a moment or two after Ancelin, she shrugged smoothly. "Dunno. Pass me tha' shirt, alrigh'? I thin' I'll wear m'boardshorts, though."

When Ancelin entered the bedroom she realised that Jan was still naked. Her cheeks flushed and she nodded.
"Oh, yeah sure." She said as she grabbed the shirt from the bed and held it out to the potato girl. It was a black t-shirt that said "When I snap you'll be the first to go" in sketchy white lettering. It would probably fit the girl since what Tenshi had over her in width Jan made up for in length.

Once An handed the girl the shirt, she picked out some of her own clean clothes and set them on the bed.
"I'll just be a few minutes." An said as she went into the bathroom, leaving the door open as she started the water to shower. She left the door open so the room could vent, she hated getting out into a steamy and murky room.

Jan, not a fan of dirty underware, but often a fan of going comando [ah, yes, one can never quite get away from their nudist roots] simply slid on her shorts, doing the belt. A bra was slid on, the shirt was tugged on and tied at the waist to get rid of the extra room. With her towel touseled hair and cheeky piercings, the outfit didn't look bad at all.

When she left the room and headed down the hall, she spotted the open door and did her best not to stare to see if Ancelin was in the shower or not. She'd never seen the other sin'aeis naked, or, not since they were kids, and to be honest, she was a tad curious. Not exactly a fan of the television, she knew where she'd spend the next twenty minutes, avoiding the bathroom.

Ancelin came out of the bathroom nice, clean and dry. She had left the towels in the hamper that was in the bathroom. She poked her head out, and when she was content to see that Jan was in the living room, she dashed over to her bed and quickly slid into her panties, bra, and dress.

"Sorry to make you wait." An said as she walked into the living room, using the towel she had saved to dry her long blue hair.

"Naw, et's cool. I dun 'ave work t'day, but I shoul' prolly be goin' soon, anyway. Git en some plan'in, 'n swing by Lyrus's place." Jan shrugged, fingercombing her hair before glancing up at Ancelin from where she sat, on the floor, rather than on the couch. "Nice mad dash t'yer room, by th'way." Grin.

Ancelin made a very deep frown. Not at the notion of Jan leaving. She had spent the entire day before with Jan, and then she was sweet enough to stay overnight and then have breakfast with her. No, it was the strong fear that Jan had seen all the scars on her back.

"You didn't.. See anything weird, did you?" An said as she reached behind her back. Her hair went pretty far down her back, but she was afraid it might not cover everything up. She folded her arms behind her sides and pressed her fingers to her spine over her dress. She really didn't want anyone to see those scars.

"... Ah... Weird?" Jan just stared at her. Other than a human pheasant charmingly dashing around naked, what was weird? Blue hair? A slow blink. Another. "Wha're ya talkin' bout?"

Ancelin let out a releived sigh as she pressed her fingers to her chest. She then smiled happily.
"No, no. Nothing. I was just afraid maybe my butt looked bad." She winked playfully.

"Say hello to Lyrus for me when you see him. Perhaps I could go with you sometime in the future to see him. It's been so long." She suggested, trying to change the subject. "I don't have work ether. But I think I'm gonna go over to Shi's house today and hang out with Oliver and Vin-vin."

"Y'coul' swing by anytime. I dun' think he'd mind et all." jan'd given Ancelin directions to his apartment/junk shop before. "As fer yer butt, et looked fine. Those scars 'er from yer accident, eh?" Jan's tone was mildly curious.

Ancelin's body sank to her couch when Jan said the last thing. It felt as if her heart had made a cannon ball into her stomach. Damn it.. She did see them. She let out a slow nod.
"Mmhmm." She simply said. She despised how those scars looked. They took up almost her entire back. They where jagged, some dark, all affecting her otherwise perfect skin. She folded her hands together and smiled softly.

"Results of the skin grafts." She said, at least she knew Jan wouldn't think less of her for them. If she remembered correctly, Jan admired those with such marks. Shows of character or sum such.

Nope, Jan didn't give a flying s**t about how they looked. "Ah." She smiled. "They react like reg'lar skin?" That was the more important part. Who cared what the skin looked like if it wasn't a danger, bad, or was numb?

Ancelin nodded her head. She was thankful to like such an open minded person.
"Oh yeah. It's just like normal skin. It's a little sensative and tender sometimes to the touch. But it's not like I have no feeling in them." quiet the contraty, Ancelin remembered the painful process of having them put on when they started reattaching the nerves. She would of rathered just not have any feeling in her back than to have had to go threw that process.

"I'm s'posin' we'll have t'test out jes' 'ow sensitive et really es, sometime, eh?" Jan laughed and got to her feet, moving to the kitchen counter to grab her keys and wallet, and then sliding on her flipflops. "I'm gonna git outta 'ere, but ef ya need somethin', call."

Ancelin nodded her head and stood up before she walked to the taller girl. She reached out and gave her a gentle hug, before she opened the door for her.
"Alright. Thanks for coming to cheer me up. It really helped brighten my mood." An said honestly as she looked to Jan's brown eyes.

"Like I said las' nigh', tha' wasn' a prollem. I'm jes' glad y'weren' mad about Steve." Not that she'd have regretted it if Ancelin HAD been upset. The blonde squeezed Ancelin's hand before stepping out the door into the sunlight. Nice day. She'd get a lot done in the garden.

Ancelin smiled and waved to the potato sin as she walked down the hall and went down the stairs. Once the girl was out of sight she closed the door and locked it. She rested her back against the door and let out a subtle sigh. Then she smiled.

Yay For Smut Novels!

It felt like it hadn't been that long ago since the Easter party had been held in that very location. Another Easter had come and gone since then, but the grass was still as green and the blossoms were beginning to bud again.
Lorelei had been a child then, and had met new people and met up again with old friends. However, one of her oldest friends was not at that party. She had seen the pheasant at a beach outing with Jan, but it had been too brief and Lorelei could barely say a hello.
The duck Sin'aeis looked down at the baby in her lap, who was once again fussing. She was such an angry baby, her hands always clenched into fists or yanking on anything she could reach. Her caretaker, Ophelia, had been practically mad with exhaustion, so Lorelei had offered to take the bleu cheese baby out for the afternoon.
She was starting to regret it.

Ancelin didn't think much back on the holiday events that the sin mansion had held. She remembered the year when she was a fish for halloween, but other than that.. Meh. She'd meet a new sin every now and again, but it had been forever since she had seen one from her past that wasn't Jan. She was begining to wonder if they where still alive anymore.

It was then the pheasant girl walked down the concrete path with Erik, her Lady Amhert's Pheasant, following behind. She stopped for a moment when she saw familiar forest green hair, before she called out.
"Lorelei, is that you?"

Lorelei tilted her head to the side and offered a wave-- or at least tried to before an angry hand snatched out and pulled on her stola. With a firm hand, Lorelei took the fabric away from the baby and handed her instead her favorite starfish chewie. It was already worn from much chewing (Bebe's teeth were already showing up in her gums, the rate of her teeth's development baffled the whole family), but Bebe was satisfied with her prize and stuffed one of the starfish's arms in her mouth.

"Yes, yes, it's me," Lorelei finally managed to say, her eyes wandering over Ancelin. She still appeared somewhat dazed, but Bebe had interrupted her quiet contemplation quite a lot-- indeed, Lorelei was very frazzled.

Ancelin walked over to where Lore was sitting and looked down at the child in her arms. The strange apearance.. It had the physical qualities of one like them. Ancelin rose an eyebrow. She wasn't sure how.. well.. reproduction worked among other sin. Tenshi had given her the sex talk assuming she was the same as humans. So it would only natural that An would be bound to get confused.

"Is.. Is that your child?" She asked as she tilted her head to the side. Erik, who had satisfied himself to just stand beside his owner, looked up to the two people with his small feathered head cocked to the side.
"Coo?"

"Oh, no!" Lorelei shook her head from side to side, causing Bebe to reach up and try to grab the green locks. Lorelei put the starfish back in Bebe's grasp, and she was once again satisfied. After a moment of gumming on the starfish, she let out a yawn wide enough to show two pearly buds in her mouth-- her front teeth! However, her mouth was closed as quickly as it was open, and Bebe started to drift away into a (thankfully calm) dream.

"No, Bebe is the child of our live-in maid, Ophelia," explained Lorelei, her wide smile appearing on her face once again as Bebe fell asleep, "Chaco needed someone to take care of this little girl, so..." Lorelei ran a hand through her hair, her eyes still darting over the grass for the sigh of an elusive dustbunny.

"I haven't found anyone like THAT yet..."

Ancelin nodded her head and let out a quick and light sigh of releif.
"Oh, I see.. Well she's very adorable." Ancelin said as she adjusted her bangs. She felt silly for asking such a question, but when it came to those sort of things Ancelin was very, very, very naive.
"I know the feeling." She said, she wasn't going to get into her 'love' endevers though.

"So how have you been doing? You look a little stressed.. But I assume it's from Bebe." the girl admitted before she took a seat on a free spot on the bench. She then pulled a small sandwich bag from her purse, and began tossing peices of grain to Erik to keep him entertained.

"I guess I'm lucky enough to say that Bebe is my main source of stress right now," Lorelei gave a quick nod, "But a part of me is a little bored. I really want to get back to the library and start reading again."

She shrugged.

"But last time I did that, I got sucked into ye olde England with Flitch. It's not that I don't mind his company, but I'd much rather be in a place less... er..." Lorelei tilted her chin up, "...Unscrupulous?"

She let out a nervous laugh, but was silenced when a dragonfly started to flit about her nose.

Ancelin flicked another peice of grain to the small pheasant as he pecked about the ground. She nodded her head slightly.. She thought she might of understood.
"I saw Flitch recently myself." She said, just lightly noting on the subject of the young.. er... man?

"There are book stores that have chairs so you can read while drinking coffee. That might have an atmopshere more to your liking? And you'd be able to read in peace." she said with a nod. Ancelin liked to read.. but she was more into those romance novels that people often poked fun at, so she wasn't too vocal about her fondness of them.

Lorelei looked over at Ancelin, the dazed look completely gone. With a smile not so wide as her unaware one, but still wide enough to betray her intentions, she asked: "Flitch? Really? How is he doing? I didn't really get to see him after the incident..."
Her smile faded as she looked back down at Bebe. The dragonfly, which had been flitting about only moments before, was now being mauled and crunched by Bebe's newly-forming teeth.

"Bebe..." The glossiness appeared back over Lorelei's eyes when her usual dazed reactions came about, and she carefully started picking wings and legs away from the baby's mouth.

Ancelin turned her head and frowned as she watched Lore's reaction to the child. It was obvious the child was the soarce of her apparent unhappiness. She could understand, before she moved out, Damien and Dominic drove her to the point of insanity. She was so glad she was out and living in her own apartment now.

"Oh, he looked really well. He was at the mansion reading in the library." She said, giving a quick chuckle at how predictable that was.
"I talked to him for a little bit about theatre.. And then I gave him a card with the address to my pet store before he had to go take care of other things." She explained.

"There was an incident?" she asked.

"We were sucked into The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Jolly ol' England, I wasn't kidding..." Lorelei smiled a little bit, "It was rather cute having to protect him from a robber." Lorelei turned her smile back to the blue-haired woman, "He wasn't expecting me to be carrying a cleaver in my garter."

She went back to fussing over Bebe for a moment until she was sure that all dangling organs of the once dragonfly had been removed. Still, a smile that showed that her mind was elsewhere was still there.

Ancelin began giggling loudly, holding a hand up to her mouth in an automatic reaction to muffle her voice.
"Oh man, does that bring back memories." She said as she was reminded of Akilah and also the time when she and Jan where sucked into a vortex in the Sin mansion.

"Well, since you two seemed to come out unharmed, it had to be a fun adventure yes? I miss doing those out of this world things like when I was a child.. Being stuck in a pygmy village being mistaken for a sun goddess sounds so much better than the terrors the real world has to offer." She said, musing to herself as a faint frown covered her lips.

"But we have a little bit of the other worlds inside of us, Ancelin," Lorelei stood up, trying to rock Bebe into some sort of calmness, "We may not be able to remember anything, but we did come from someplace very different from here. With each step we take towards adulthood, we become closer to finding out..."

It was a cricket that stopped Lorelei from waxing poetic. She bent down towards it, keeping Bebe's greedy hands away from it. It let out a little chirp before hopping, and Lorelei's blank, yet content expression returned.

"So, what kind of books do you like to read?"

Ancelin's attention perked up at what Lorelei had begun to say. So, she knew about their pasts too? About the jobs, and Illessi? She had so many questions she wanted to ask. She knew she wasn't ready to go see him yet, but she still felt so confused over the whole matter.

However, Ancelin's thought process was distracted as she blushed slightly as she looked away. That was am embarrasing question to answer.
"Well.. It's kinda silly. But I like reading romance novels.. Not just the pure smut kind. But I'm really fond of Anne Rice novels and Severna Parks. Although I admit I do own a few of the kind of books that would have Fabio on the cover." She said as she twiddled her thumbs, getting light glares from Erik since she stopped feeding him.

"I have my own collection of paperback romance hidden under my bed," Lorelei laughed, "If my mom ever found out that I like stuff like Laurell K. Hamilton, I think she'd disown me." Lorelei tilted her head, "Well, after she stole my girl love collection."

Lorelei cleared her throat, "So I guess we all have our secrets. I just told Flitch that I like the classics, which I do. I don't know what he'd think if he found out that I read schoolgirl romances."

Ancelin smirked and nodded her head as she began chucking bits of feed at Erik. Who had began pecking at a small common brown bird as it had aproached in interest. Ancelin began throwing of the feed, that way there would be enough for both.
"I love Hamilton." She said with a smile.

"You're mother took away your books? How terrible." Ancelin said with a firm frown. "Shi-shi would never do something like that." She said, although Tenshi had a female lover and would often read those books herself. "Then again.. Shi reads much much worse when it comes to 'porn on paper' as she puts it." Ancelin said with a sneer, remembering the time she came acrossed a 'hentai manga' when she was cleaning.

"Oh no, she didn't! I'm saying she WOULD if she found them," Lorelei shook her head again, "... For her own enjoyment. It sounds like we both have perverted caretakers."
She let out a laugh before setting Bebe on the ground. She let out a rather loud grumble before kicking free of her blankets and crawling forward on her diaper, looking for things to chew on.

"So, which boy is your favorite?" Lorelei nudged Ancelin, "Of Hamilton's troupe, I mean. I don't really care for Richard that much... but Jean-Claude is too flamboyant..."

"I'm fond of Anita, personally." Ancelin said with a smirk. "I don't know though, Jean-Claude does have his own sense of charm. Then again I kinda like those suave types." she babbled. An watched the small baby crawl around on the ground idly. She certainly was a cute infant, even if she seemed to give Lorelei greif.

"I have to admit I stray towards the more lesbian oriented novels. I think it's because I always end up thinking of Jan." An said with a faint flush over her cheeks.

"I thought I sensed something when I saw you with her," Lorelei let an impish grin stretch over her face, "I'm glad to know that I wasn't off."

Bebe was reaching out towards a butterfly, her mouth opening and closing like she was dying to chew on its wings. Lorelei was thankful that the baby didn't have wings of her own. She cast a glance towards Ancelin-- it was a little odd to see her without her wings, but it was something that she'd have to get used to.

"Think sometime I could borrow one of those love stories? I don't have many involving two women," she shrugged.

Ancelin's blush got even deeper as she gave a nod. Yeah, it was kinda hard not to notice her unrequited obsession towards the potato woman. Ancelin then reached down and gently shooed off the brown bird that was giving Erik so much stress, knowing that their little squawks and chirps where actually threats and that a fight would soon break out between the two.

"Oh yes, of coarse. I'll get together some of my favorites for you to read. I've got shoe boxes full under my bed." She laughed. She then reached into her purse and got out a pen and paper, jotting down a series of numbers.
"Here, this is my cell number. Feel free to call me anytime."

"I don't have a cellphone yet," Lorelei admitted, "But I'll call you when I get the chance." Carefully folding the paper up, she slid it into one of her stola pockets.

"If you don't mind, Ancelin..." Lorelei let out a sigh, "I think I'm going to deliver Bebe back to her guardian and take a nap. I have to be ready to make dinner tonight!" Lorelei glanced up at a few traces of dust that glinted in the sunlight before bending down and picking up the fussing baby.

"It was great to see you again, though. I'll be sure to call you. I've never really talked to anyone on the phone before. Not for conversation, anyway."

Ancelin nodded her head and smiled.
"No no, I understand. Erik here would probably like it if I started moving again. I promised him I would take him to the ice cream stand." She said as she stood up and smoothed out her dress.

"You take care, and try not to let the baby torture you so much?" she smiled. Ancelin was used to talking on the phone ever since she moved out. It was always how she would converse with her old housemates and often times Jan.

"I'll do my best," Lorelei said with a wave, "You and Erik have fun." She offered a nod to the pheasant-- like he would understand-- before turning and walking in the direction that her feet happened to be in. After a few steps, she turned around and waved again before retreating towards her home on Bass'ken Lake.

Doctor! Doctor! Tell Me The News.

Now, Ancelin had never been got a “lady doctor” before. In fact, Tenshi had only vaguely told her what all went on at one of these appointments. But after the… incident Tenshi insisted that she go and get a check up.
“Shi-shi.. I’m scared. Why do I have to do this again?”
“I assume he didn’t use protection.” Tenshi said with her arms crossed and her eyes closed. She was still very, very, very angry about what had happened. But she had decided it would be best to wait until Steve was healed before she hurt him again. Ancelin frowned and hugged her arms around her stomach as she shook her head.
“No…”
“Then A: You may be pregnant. And B: You may have a venereal disease,” she said as her brow created a deep crease in her forehead.

Ancelin frowned, it wasn’t bad enough that the whole thing had happened, but now she could be sick or pregnant? Ancelin didn’t want to deal with this. She just wanted to block the whole thing out of her mind. And now she was having to have something embarrassing like have someone check her out.. down there.

Tenshi reached out and gently took Ancelin’s hand, before giving it a firm squeeze.
“Don’t worry… I’m here for you An.” Tenshi said as she gave Ancelin a tender smile. It was something nobody accept Indu ever saw anymore. Tenshi’s smile. Ancelin had assumed it was long dead and buried. Ancelin smiled softly and returned the squeeze, before she looked over at the play area.

There where children playing in a little plastic play pen filled with mind development toys. An frowned. What if she was pregnant? She didn’t know how those like her reproduced. And under the assumption she was like Tenshi and Indu, she might be having one of those. Ancelin wasn’t ready to become a mother. Ancelin wasn’t ready for any of this.

Just then a woman in nurse scrubs opened the door with a clip board in hand. She was announcing the next patient.
“Ancelin Kuronaho?” she said, Tenshi and Ancelin then stood. The two walked over to the door and went in, Ancelin nodding a ‘good morning’ to the woman.

Ancelin got weighed and her height measured. Her standard 5’4 and 140 pounds. She got her temperature taken, perfectly natural. Her blood pressure 187 over 96, a little high, but not by much. Shockingly enough, Tenshi went threw all of this too. Same as usual.
“Shi-shi… Did you have an appointment too?” Ancelin asked as she looked to the older woman, Tenshi smirked.
“I’m going to do for you what someone very close to me did for my first exam. I’m gonna get checked up so you’ll know what to expect, and then it’ll be your turn.” Tenshi explained as she leaned against the wall. “I know I never really told you what they do.. This way you’ll see it first hand, and nothing will be a surprise.” She added, and Ancelin let out a bright smile.

“Why hello there Tenshi, Ancelin. How are my two lovely ladies doing today?” came the voice of Dr. Brownwell. She was Tenshi’s Ob-gyn, and had been for the past 35 years. Once Tenshi picked a doctor, she stuck with them until they retired, and that was that. It was only natural that Tenshi would schedule her beloved adopted-daughter’s appointment with someone she trusted on herself.

The appointment went smoothly. Tenshi got checked out first, showing Ancelin exactly what to expect. Her face went pale when she saw the instrument Brownwell had dubbed “The Duck Bill.” Ancelin’s turn came and Tenshi held her hand the entire time, gently arranging the blue bangs a crossed her forehead. Even though the appointment was far from pleasant, Ancelin was willing to do it all over again simply for the closeness she had to Tenshi that day.
“Shi-shi…” An said softly as she looked up to her guardian. Tenshi’s eyes where on Brownwell’s hands as she did the standard pelvic exam.
“Yes, An?” Tenshi said as she looked down to the girl.
“I love you.”
“… I love you too.”

----------------------------------------

“Well, now that that’s over,” said Brownwell as she walked back over to the counter. They had done a pregnancy test before everything had started, and now the results would be able to be read.
“Good news, it’s negative.” She said as she looked over to the two women. Both Ancelin and Tenshi’s bodies slouched and they let out loud relieved sighs. Brownwel couldn’t help but giggle at how in sync it was.

“Tenshi…” Brownwell said, Tenshi tilted her head up to show that her attention was gained. “Do you want to contact the authorities? I have all the proof you’ll need.” she said, it was obvious to her from the exam and the test that something very bad had happened to An.
“No. It’s alright, we’ve taken care of it.” Tenshi said. The woman nodded her head and looked to An with a sympathetic gaze. Ancelin looked down at the floor in embarrassment and hugged her arms around her stomach. Tenshi reached down and gently stroked the girl’s back.

Once the appointment was over the two women stood outside the office with their arms crossed. Tenshi’s arms high over her chest, Ancelin’s low and around her stomach.
“So..” Tenshi said, before she turned her head to the younger girl. “Common, I’m taking you to dinner.” Ancelin let out a bright smile.
“Okay.”

A Day At The Pet Store

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin was currently mopping the back floor. Somebody's child had let a puppy run about freely instead of leaving it in it's pen, and the dog had kindly decided to use the floor as a toilet. So, as per usual, An cleaned it up.
"I love animals, but I hate the messes they make." An said with a discontented sigh as she ran the mop back and forth over the floor. She had a yellow 'wet floor' warning sign sitting on the floor by the area she was cleaning. She just hoped nobody would come and fall.

"Aaaaan." came a voice from the front.
"What is it Sarah?" she called back.
"When you're done with that I need you to put more bedding in the hamster cage.
"Alright!" urg.. What time did she get off again?

DecayingThorn
Deet's heart was pounding, his glasses feeling unusually tight today. This was...probably the worst idea he had ever had. But here he was, toddler in toe. Today...Deet was buying his son his first pet.

He was going to leave a small creature's life in the hand's of his son. Deet loved Nihilo. He knew he was a good kid. But he was only a kid. And Deet did NOT want to have a small funeral for any thing in his house. Plus, Deet was never really comfortable in pet stores. Maybe because they sold cats and technically, he was half cat.

Deet opened the door, and the snake Sin'Aeis walked by the large, nervous cat-man and instantly drew his attention to...The reptiles?

"...At least its consistent..." Deet thought alloud.

Now, it was one thing in the pet store Ancelin hated. The one thing she would not clean up after, or take care of. The one animal in the store that she would not have a single thing to do with and she left up entirely to the other people who worked there. If she had her way, they wouldn't even sell this creature.. But there was such a high demand for them so they had too. What where these animals, one might ask?

.. Cats.. Ancelin HATED cats.

And it just so happened that when she was walking down the isle with a medium sized bag of hamster bedding that she saw a cat... man. Ancelin's eyes widened and she quickly stopped and took a step back. If she could, she would of hissed. If she still had her wings, her feathers would of plumed. But instead she simply took in a deep breath and kept her back to the cages holding the birds (that happened to be right by the lizard cages) and stared at the man. Oh god. It was her worse nightmare come to life.

She didn't even notice the boy she was probably standing in the way of.

DecayingThorn
Deet, completely oblivious to the fact that this young lady already wanted to cut off his head and use it as a bowling ball, smiled at the young lady who seemed to work here.

"Ah, um, hello there...My son was looking for his first pet." Deet said, trying to emphasis the 'first' part while his eyes said Please, I'm begging you, give him a pet that won't instantly die on him and break his little heart because I'm a single dad and I CAN'T DEAL WITH THAT.

"Hiya!" Nihilo said the blue-haired girl, much less worried than his father.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
"Hello.." Ancelin stumbled backwards a bit, stabling herself against the shelf behind her. Thank god they where very securely screwed into the ground. She quickly looked down to the child, then back up to the man, then at the child again. She was suddenly distracted by the odd appearance. Obviously, this wasn't a biological son.
"First pet huh.." She said as she stared down at the toddler. Well.. She had the same thoughts as his worried father at least. She wasn't about to suggest something that could easily die.

"H..His first pet.. Yes.. Well.. Since he's so young, I'd suggest something like a dog or..." she took a pause and eyed the man again. " .... A cat." she then looked down at the boy. She had the strong inclination that he was a Sin like her. But she was a little too distracted to ask.

DecayingThorn
Deet could feel the tension rise in him the second she suggested a "cat" as a viable option for a pet. And a dog?! Deet had a green space-traveling British-accented p***k of a dog at home, thank you very much! While the two "adults" were clearly not liking each other, Nihilo tugged on the pants leg of Ancelin.

"A-Actually...I, um, was wondering if you could tell me 'bout these." Nihilo said, speaking when his father couldn't, pointing at a Box Turtle.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin looked down at the boy again as he tugged on her skirt. She then bent down to look into the cage he was pointing to. A box turtle?
"Well.. That could make a reasonable first pet." She said, as she set a hand on the small of the child's back. She then stood up, trying to go into 'business mode' rather than 'I despise cats' mode.

"These small cages really are not to be mistaken as suitable enclosures for the animals we sell. If you want to keep a turtle, I'd highly suggest an outdoor enclosure for during the summer or a large indoor cage for him. A large card board box would make a fine home if you get a heat lamp and give him some hiding places. Just nothing like a small fish tank." She said. Ancelin made a habit to learn as much as she could about the animals they sold. After they got in hermit crabs and they kept dieing on her she looked into their care, and once she discovered how wrong they where taking care of them, she started learning about EVERY animal they sold.

"They're not very active pets though.. Really just something for you to look at and feed. If you want a more high energy pet, I'd really have to suggest something like a dog or a ferret." she explained, not looking at Deet the entire time so she wouldn't get overly anxious.

DecayingThorn
Nihilo nodded, listening to every word she said about the small turtles. Deet watched, seeing that his son had a real interest in the slow-moving Gamera rejects.

"Um, no, I really like these guys..." Nihilo said shyly. It wasn't because he was shy about wanting the turtles: He was more shy about the fact that this girl was about the same age age Mignon.

Deet smiled. At least his son knew what he wanted. He had more than enough money, so he wouldn't mind buying the best quality stuff for the slow-moving reptiles.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin smiles softly, she liked shy guys. She found them adorable. Much like her friend Tyler. She nodded and looked down at the cage.
"Well, the good thing is they are not that horribly expensive to care for." she said, before she looked down the isle.
"In isle four we have fake rocks with special holes for animals to hide in, and heat rocks that he could lay on. I might also suggest a large water bowel that way he could get in and soak. All are reasonably priced items. The most expensive would probably be the heat rock which runs around $20." she said, before she looked up to Deet.

Her expression got a little more tense as she looked at the man, but sadly this was a business deal she had to do with the cat-like parent as well as the child.
"Does any of this sound like it'll be a problem? They'll eat typical salad foods like lettuce and carrot shavings. And it doesn't hurt to give them meal worms or crickets from time to time. Which you can get alive or dead."

DecayingThorn
"Oh, it won't be any problem at all." Deet said, trying to remain pleasant as he did the math in his head over how much this would cost. Lets see, one big turtle tank, plus food, plus rocks...Well, that wasn't that bad at all. Besides, it wouldn't be creepy like having a pet cat or any thing. My son has good taste in pets! Deet thought proudly.

Nihilo looked really, really excited about getting his turtles. They were so cool looking! He looked up at Ancelin. She gave off the same feeling that Mignon and Brisby did. "...Um...Are you a Sin...Um, Sin...Sin Ae...Sin'Aeis?" Nihilo asked bluntly, struggling to remember the name he heard his dad say.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
"Alright, if you'll just give me a second to take this bedding to the front, I'll get a hand basket to help gather everything you will need." Ancelin said as she relaxed a bit. This man apparently wasn't really a cause for concern for her, so she tried to shove her feline-phobia to the back burners.

She paused her movement when the boy asked her the question though, her suspicions where confirmed.
"Yes, I am a Sin'aeis." Ancelin said matter of factly as she looked down to the boy. "Does this mean you're from the mansion as well?" she asked, that question directed at both the boy and his guardian.

DecayingThorn
"No, I'm from my Dad's house." Nihilo said honestly. He had only been to the mansion once, and that was when he was just a baby: He really had no memory of it outside of meeting Brisby.

"Um, actually, yeah, Nihilo here was left on my door-step, but he was delivered by, um...Chaco, I believe his name was?" Deet said, surprised that he ran into another Sin'Aeis around town like this.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin nodded her head.
"Yeah, Chaco is known to do that from time to time." She said as she nervously scratched the side of her head. Tenshi had adopted her the.. uh.. 'normal' way so to speak. As in she went to the mansion and inquired about adopting a child and was therefore given An.
"The mansion is a nice place to go every now and again to meet others like us. I suspect one day even I will end up moving back 'home'." She said, but didn't go much farther into the topic. She wasn't sure exactly how loose lipped she was allowed to be about the.. technical issues.

"But if you'll excuse me, I'll be just a minute." She said as she dashed to the front of the store with the bedding. She would return moments later with a small hand basket, allowing the two to discuss anything they might need to concerning buying the turtle or it's supplies.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin came back a few moments later with one of the plastic over the arm bags the store offered for those who where picking up multiple items. She then held out her free hand for Nihilo, smiling softly.
"I'm Ancelin, by the way. Come with me and I'll help you get together everything you'll need for your new pet, and then you can pick out which turtle you want." She said, she wanted to have him select the turtle last so that the creature would spend as little time in the carrying boxes they provided for as little as possible. She imagined it wasn't pleasant being in a dark card board box with just a few holes poked inside.

DecayingThorn
"'Kay!" Nihilo said, taking her hand happily, his yellow eyes shining. Deet smiled as well, following the blue-haired girl and his snake son. Deet was actually pretty pleased with this hole experience: His son got a pet, a low-maintenance one at that, and it seemed the Nihilo got along well with his own "kind".

Though some thing Ancelin said was still floating in the back of the cat man's mind: I suspect one day even I will end up moving back "home". It was that last word that stung. Deet thought his house was Nihilo's home. I wonder if, eventually, that'll change.... he though solemnly.

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin helped Nihilo pick out the various items he would need to care for his pet. A heat rock, a fake rock with a hole in the side for it to hide under, a wide water bowl, a 'natural rock' looking food bowl; and various other things. Once those items where gathered, Ancelin lead them back around to the reptile cages where the turtles where held.

"Alright, tell me which turtle you like the best and I'll get him out for you." She said as she pulled a keyring from it's elastic cord on her hip, fishing threw them to find the key marked "T" for the turtle cage.

DecayingThorn
Nihilo looked at the turtles. There were three in there, and to most people they really didn't look all that different. However, there was one turtle soaking in the water, and in some strange toddler logic, Nihilo knew he wanted that one. "That one, please." Nihilo said, pointing a scaly finger at the yellow-shelled turtle

Tenshi_Kuronaho
Ancelin kneeled down and opened up the turtle cage, before she reached inside and grabbed the turtle gently by it's shell. She lifted it up and pulled him from the cage, before she held him out to Nihilo.
"Here you go." She said with a smile as she closed the glass door and relocked it.

"If you'll just follow me to the front of the store I can get you a box to carry him in and ring you guys out." She said as she stood up straight. The pheasant girl adjusted her skirt and began walking towards the front of the store, holding the basket at her side.

Returning Nightmares

It was dark, she could barely see. She was running, out of breath like she had been running for a long time. Her heels had broken.. Where was her shirt? Someone was after her. Someone big. She made a turn down what she believed was a small outlet road, but it was a dead end. An alley. She turned around, she could still get away if she moved fast enough. She could scale the fence. She ran, but there was a crack in the pavement. Fall. Cold water over hard concrete, she could feel her skin tear as it connected with the pavement and broken glass. The man who was chasing her.. He was getting close. Struggling to stand, but it was too late. He was there, he was over her, holding her down and ripping at her bra.
"No.." She cried out as hot tears ran down her eyes.

"NO!!" Ancelin screamed as suddenly sat up in her bed. She closed her legs and hugged her blanket to her chest as her eyes shot around violently.. Fish tanks.. Her keyboard.. Erik's cage.. She was home, at her apartment. She was safe. "Not again.." She whimpered as she ran her hand threw her bangs, the other wiping tears from her eyes.

"Did you have another nightmare?" asked Erik from his nest in his cage. The pheasant looked over to his master with concerned eyes. Ancelin nodded her head as she looked over toward the bird.
"Mmhmm.. This time I was being chased down town." she muttered as she hugged her legs to her chest. The pheasant wobbled from his cage over to the edge of Ancelin's bed, before he flapped his wings and flew up to the mattress. His yellow eyes looked up to An with sympathy, as he nudged his cheek against her hand. An reached out and stroked his back.

"I don't think I can fall back asleep.. Do you want to go watch a movie with me?" An said as she looked to the bird, Erik cooed.
"Okay. Can we watch that one about the parrot who gets separated from the little girl again?"
"You mean Polly? Yeah.. Common, I'll go make us some popcorn." An said as she scooted to the edge of her mattress and tucked her feet into her slippers. Erik fluttered down to the floor and scuttled into the living room, girl following.

An would fall asleep midway threw the movie on the couch. It was going to be another restless night.

Good Results From The Doctor

Ancelin walked down the stairs the following morning in her PJs and fuzzy slippers. She was heading towards the mail box.
"Good morning Miss Kuronaho," said the voice of an old man as he made his way up the stairs. One of her neighbors.
"Good morning Mr. McGraw, how's the wife?" An asked as she bowed her head, stopping to hold the door to his apartment open for him.
"Oh she's just fine.. Thank you, you're such a sweet girl." He said, bowing his head as he hobbled back into the room. An smiled and nodded politely.
"Tell her I said hi." An said before she closed the door, and continued on her way to the mail box. She was starting to get to know her neighbors one by one, and the old couple where one of the more pleasant.

An opened up her mail box and pulled out the various letters.
"Junk.. Junk… Bill, junk.." she muttered as she shuffled them one after another. An paused when she found a sheet no bigger than a post card, with her doctors office's name stamped at the top. She turned it over and glanced over the lines. Ah, it was the results from her tests she got at her 'lady doctor'.

Ancelin closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She wasn't so sure she wanted to see the results. She straightened her back out and swallowed, before finally opening her eyes again. The girls two-tone eyes shot down the card madly, and after a few seconds she let out a loud relieved sigh.
"Oh thank God…" The girl whispered to herself as she set a hand on her chest, as if trying to stay her heart.

She quickly hurried back up the stairs to her apartment and slammed the door behind her, shuffling to the phone and dialing a number she had memorized by heart.
"Shi-shi? It's me. The test results from the doctor came back.. Yeah.. I'm clear! Everything came back negative!" the girl cheered to the other woman on the phone, getting odd stares from Erik who was standing at her feet.

"Yeah.. Uh huh. I'll come over tomorrow so we can celebrate. Alright, I'll see you then.. Bye." An hung the phone up before she swirled around and let her body fall to the couch. The girl ran her fingers threw her bangs and let her head arch backward.
"Thank God.." An muttered one last time. Erik shrugged his wings and scurried off, he was starting to catch on to the fact his owner was crazee.

Birthday Celebrations with Tyler

Ancelin sat out on the bench in front of Pet Heaven, flipping threw a phone book. She was still wearing her uniform, apparently she had just gotten off work. But wanted to use the store's yellow pages before she went home. She sipped idly at a glass of tea that she had gotten from a vending machine as she turned the page, running her finger down a page that said "self defense classes".

"Karate.. No... Takwando.. Nope. Ninjitsu? Psh!"

Was she supposed to call him? Was he supposed to just show up? Was what he carried too expensive? Too personal? Too casual?

Such thoughts plagued the poor kid, Tyler, as he walked down the street. He held under his arm a package, wrapped in plain brown paper, nice and neat. His eyes were pointed towards the sidewalk, a hat pulled down low over his head. His lips were moving, muttering along as he worried about today.

Ancelin sighed and slapped the thick book shut in her lap. Nothing seemed to fit the bill, she'd have to go to the local YMCGAY and look into womens defense classes. She lifted her two tone eyes dully and glanced over her seroundings, before she saw a familiar face acrossed the street. Ah, Tyler. She was supposed to meet him today for her birthday, right?

"Hey, Tyler! Over here!" She called out as she stood, leaving the book in the bench. She waved her hand back and forth over her head waiting for him to spot her.

As Ancelin called out, Tyler nearly jumped out of his skin in shock. He lost his balance, falling over to the sidewalk and getting a nice lump on his arm and hip from the unforgiving concrete.

He rubbed his sore spots, picking himself up slowly as he dusted himself off. It seemed he was dressed better than usual right now. Jeans, shirts, hoodies, and baseball caps were the norm for him. Now he was wearing rather a fedora, a nice long coat, and what seemed to be fancy clothes under it, slacks, a nice shirt and jacket, even some slick leather shoes.

Seeing Ancelin he slid his package behind his back, away from her eyes as he swallowed down and rose his eyes towards her.

Ancelin tossed the phone book back inside the store and grabbed her tea, before she glanced both ways for oncoming traffic. After all, she didn't want to get hit by a car again. She quickly crossed the street and gave Tyler a once over, before she smiled.
"Wow when I asked you if you wanted to do something for my birthday I didn't expect you to go all out on me. I'm flattered." She said before she helped him dust off.

"You didn't mess up your nice suit did you? I feel bad just wearing my work uniform."

"Oh... um... my fault. Just thought..." he trailed off as Ancelin dusted him off, shying away from the contact, his eyes glued on to her hands as she did so.

"It's... been a while..." he continued. That was all he really was willing to say. Either unable or unwilling to acknowledge their last parting of ways and the circumstances behind it.

"And you mentioned... no one had really given you anything before," or so he recalled the last time he brought her a Gift of any sorts. "So I wanted this to be nice."

Ancelin smiled softly and nodded her head after she finished dusting Tyler off.
"Well.. Tell ya what, since you dolled up for the occasion I'll call Vin-vin and have him bring me a change of clothes from my apartment. And then we can see if there's any real restronts for us to go to tonight." She said with a nod, before she popped out her cell phone. Why couldn't they just go to her apartment? Because An was never going to be alone in a room with a man again that wasn't Vincent. Although, sweet and innocent Tyler didn't need to know about that.

Vin-vin? Who was that? Her real boyfriend? Her Girlfriend? The very mention did cause his spirits to sink several levels. Not that he would actually ever tell her or show it. Instead he smiled at her warmly, pushing all those worries downward for now, "Well it's your day..."

That was all he could manage to get out, he could feel a lump in his throat that threatened to crack his calm exterior. He swallowed it down again, smiling once more.

Ancelin hit the speed dial number and enter before holding the cell up to her ear. After a few seconds, An's expression got more focused and she parted her lips.
"Hey.. Vin? Yeah, it's me. Listen I just got off work and one of my friends met me to celibrate my birthday, but I forgot a change of clothes.. Do you think you could stop by my apartment and get me one of my evening gowns and heels? And possibly give Erik some water?" a pause.. "Yeah, Shi-shi has the keys. Alright, I'll see you in a little while then." she said, before she hung up and looked to Tyler.

"He said he'll be here in about 45 minutes.. You wanna go in the store while we wait? You've never seen where I work before, right?" She said, not even realizing that Tyler might of be jealous of her adoptive-brother.

"Well... um... I suppose so..." Tyler said, quite willing to take the distraction in this case rather than focus on the every growing lump of worries that threatened to crack open at any time. Vin... Shi-shi... Erik? Sounded like she had quite the harem stocked up. And the clothes she chose? Sounded really dressed to the nines. A shiver past through him despite his wishes.

"Um... there's no dogs there, are there?" Canines and him have never gotten along. In fact, it seemed just about every dog instinctively disliked him to the point of trying to break off their chains to attack him.

Ancelin nodded her head as she took Tyler's hand and redid her check for road saftey, once content she lead him back acrossed the road.
"Yeah. But they're all in cages. Accept for the really little guys who are in display cases, but they can't get out." she explained, before she looked to him.
"Do you have a problem with dogs?" she asked. After all, Ancelin dispised cats.. Sadly she had to bear with working with them every day. Why was it everyone always wanted to play with the kittens? PAH!

Tyler definately took on a deeper shade of skin when Ancelin grabbed his hand. Thankfully he managed to tone it down a little by the time she finally looked back towards him. Oh yeah, he was real smooth, and still thought Ancelin had no idea. And he wasn't about to put himself out there.

"Well... um... Dogs have a problem with me..." he answered as he locked his eyes ahead. He could have been approaching an executioner for all the tension and fear that came across him. "Dunno why... but they've bitten me more than a few times..."

Ancelin frowned and looked inside the shop threw the glass windows. Currently there where two dousenhound puppies in one of the display pens and a chiwawa in the other.. Both very small dogs. But still, if they where going to make him uncomfortable..
"Maybe we should just wait out here then until Vincent gets here.." She said as she twirled a braid in her hand. She then eyed the bench, as if suggesting that they should both sit down.

"Um... I'm sorry..." he stammered towards Ancelin, looking again at the shop. He swore he could see those damn evil midgets already growling and hackling up, trying to break out and attack him. He shivered again, though for completely different reasons.

Seeing Ancelin eye the bench he tensed up again, stammering out, "Oh... um... you've been working all day. Uh... how about we sit down and I can give you your gift?"

Ancelin shook her head.
"Oh, no need to apologize. I can't stand dealing with the cats in there, so I know how you feel.. Sorta. Besides, I've been in there all day. I'd rather just sit out here and catch up with you." She smiled. She sat down on the bench on the far end. She wasn't about to shun Tyler, but ever since the incident.. She'd been a bit shy around men.

"You got me a present? Aww, you're so sweet." She said as she held her hands up to her cheeks, blushing a little.

So what did it mean? Why did she sit away from him? Why was she doing that with her hands? Tyler was frowning a little, trying to figure it all out as he took out his package, holding the brown paper wrapped box out towards Ancelin. It seemed a bit light for its size, and if she shook it, would bring out a little gasp from Tyler and a shifting of the balance.

"Well, um... hope you like it..." He was staring at Ancelin's face like it was a bomb about to go off as soon as she started to crack into it.

Ancelin took the box and set it in her lap, before she began to lightly pick at the wrapping paper. This seemed to be a habit of alot of the Kuronaho women, neatly opening gifts rather than ripping them apart like a wolf going for the spoils. She undid the paper and then neatly refolded it before tucking it under the side of her bottom. Finally she used her nail to undo the tape on the box and opened the lid, peering inside.

Inside was three smaller gifts, well padded into the box with liberal amounts of colored tissue papers. Green, Red, and Blues in this case. Seems he even put it into a pattern, or something of one, with alternating colors.

Inside was a small tin. With a nice, shiny label IDing it. A sampler pack of different luxury teas he presumably had to have pulled from some import stores. Some fairly esoteric stuff in there. In the middle? A plastic baggy. One with water inside, what he was worried about 'breaking'. His purchase today right before he arrived, containing three small fish, colored blue and white. He forgot what they were called already. On the far side? A flower, a simple blue rose with white tips.

He shrugged and nervously smiled, "Just things that reminded me of you and that I thought you might have liked."

Ancelin covered her mouth and let out a delight filled squeel. Something Ancelin never, ever did. Her feet kicked a bit and she turned her body towards Tyler and smiled.
"Oh I love them! Thank you!!" She explaimed as she reached out and gave Tyler a tight hug. Now that was the pitcher there that said she loved it, she hugged him. She hugged everyone when they gave her things she loved.

Once the girl was done squeezing the life out of the poor dear boy she went back to the box and pulled out the bag with the fish, eyeing them to gauge there health. She then smiled and put her eyes right up to the bag, as if mimicing the behavoir of fish who would follow fingers against the glass.
"Hello there pretties!"

Squeeze the life out of him was about right. Tyler just about collapsed the moment that Ancelin let go of him, crashing right into the bench. He had a smile on his face, from ear to ear as she pulled out her fishies and introduced herself.

It was quite the struggle to get back to normalcy, and sitting back up straight on the bench. He had inched closer to her during the whole thing.

All inhibitions Ancelin might of had in fear towards the male sex had disapeared as Ancelin had emerced herself in her gifts. She gently set the fish down, and then picked up the rose and sniffed it. Oh, looked like she was going back to the woman at the flea market to have this one dipped too! She set it down, and then looked at the teas.
"Oh wow.. Jade leaf! You can only get this stuff in import shops." she said, flipping threw the various bags.

She turned her head back towards Tyler, eyes glowing as if she could cry.
"You are so sweet. Thank you."

"Ah... ah..." Tyler stammered out as he saw her on the verge of tears. Her words only added to his confusion over the whole issue. His jaw was hanging open, stunned as he watched her. All the while his mind was working overtime playing out so many different questions and results.

In the end however, he answered, "Um... you're welcome. Just... glad you're happy."

Ancelin gave another little squeel as she picked up the fish again. As the two sat there, a red Astin Martin pulled up and the driver window rolled down, revealing a 'young' looking man with long brown hair and shades. He lifted the shades up and peered out the window.
"Hey Anny, Ma' couldn't find the key you gave her. So is it cool if I just drive you and your friend to your apartment so you can change there?" he asked, before he glanced over at Tyler. His expression went concerned. "I can drive you guys to your restront afterwards to. So I'll just chill while you change?"

Ancelin stood up with the box in hand, gently placing the wraper paper inside as she nodded.
"Yeah, that's fine. I need to put these fish in a tank anyways." She said, before she looked to Tyler.
"Oh, Tyler. This is Vincent. Vin-vin, meet Tyler." She said, bobbing her head from person to person.
"Yo." Vincent said as he shot Tyler a friendly grin. With his overly accented cainines.

Vin-vin? Maaaaan. He looked pretty cool. Probably really charming. Some damn pretty boy too. Tyler grinned sheepishly to hide his embarressment and worries as he hurried over to open the door for Ancelin.

"Um.... hello..." Tyler said, not looking at Vincent as he drew closer to him.

"So... you live with her?"

Ancelin slid into the seat and scooted over to the other window, with the box sitting in her lap. She then pat the seat beside her as her other hand went to get her seat belt.

Vincent pushed his sun glasses up on the bridge of his nose again and shook his head as he waited for the two to get inside.
"I used to. Th' lady who adopted An is my ma. So I'm kinda like her brother." Vincent explained. Until the twins came along, Vincent was the only person in the Kuronaho household that was blood related to Tenshi.

Kinda... creepy... Tyler thought. A lot about this "Vin-Vin" struck him as such. From the pointy teeth to just the mere vibe he got off this guy.

Finally he sighed, shaking it off as he scooted in next to Ancelin, closing the door behind him. With a bit of fumbling he managed to find both sides of the buckle, pulling it across and hooking himself in.

Ancelin was close to him. Closer than usual. He suddenly was acutely aware of that, keeping his eyes down, towards his lap and away from Ancelin. Or their chauffer.

Vincent shifted the car into the proper gear and took off once the door was shut.
"Don't go too fast, Vin. I got fish in here and I don't want them to get shook around." An said as she leaned forward. Vincent glanced at the rear view mirror and nodded, before notably slowing down to actually obay the speed limit.

"A'right. I'll be sure to avoid potholes then." Vincent said, thankfully, An's apartment wasn't as far away as the Kuronaho household.
"So Tyler.. What is it that you do?" Vincent asked to break the silence, and to make sure that this guy didn't have the potental to be another Steve.

"Well... um... I'm an apprentice..." Tyler answered. He frowned, and shrugged up his shoulders closer to his neck. His hands came together, his left rubbing on the back of his right.

"I... rather not discuss work. This is supposed to be a fun day, all about Ancelin, right?"

He held his breath, wondering if the topic was going to be deflected back towards the Phesant Girl.

Vincent frowned.
"I aent trying to give you the third degree. I just have to look out for An. Make sure she never gets hurt again." He explained calmly. He wasn't trying to act like those freakish fathers on TV or anything. Ancelin frowned.
"Vin." She said sternly, as if telling him to shut up. Vincent took a deep breath and turned the corner, shifting gears.
"Yeah yeah. I just worry." replied.

Ancelin frowned and looked out the window. It seemed she kept alot from Tyler. But this new topic was something that he didn't need to know.

Hurt her? The hell did he think he was? That titanic bitchy girl sister of hers? He scowled a little thinking of that. It was, after all, the last time he had seen her 'hurt', and the first thing that came to mind.

"... So..." He had nothing to say, but the silence and foul moods seemed to be crushing him.

Vincent pulled over to the side of the road once they got to the apartment and he flipped the egnition off. He pocketed his keys and stepped out of the car, before opening the side Tyler was on.

Ancelin opened the door on the passenger side and stepped out, before slamming it shut with her foot. She hurried around to the sidewalk and held the box out to Vincent, before she began shuffling for her keys.
"This'll be your first time seeing my apartment, wont it?" She asked, looking to Tyler in the car.

Tyler nodded slowly as he got out of the car. With only minimal stumbling with the buckle to free himself from the evil metal contraption. Walk was so much easier.

"Yeah.... thought you still lived on that huge estate til just today. When did ya move?"

"About a three weeks to a month ago. I think."
Ancelin lead the two men into the apartment building and up the stairs to her room. Vincent removed his sunglasses and slipped them into his coat pockets. He stayed quiet, seeing as he didn't want to upset An's friend any farther.

Once the three got to the third door on the second floor, An got out her key and unlocked the door.
"Erik, I'm home." She said as she called out into the seemingly empty apartment. Slipping her shoes off as soon as she got inside.

Erik? Who was Erik? Another guy?

A nervous chuckle escaped Tyler's lips as he waited at the doorway. Waited for what? Who knows. He'd step aside if "Vin-Vin" wanted through. But he wasn't taking a step inside for now. His hands were stuffed into his pockets, his legs locked, prepared to wait for however long it took her to get dressed.

In his experiences this could be an hour long wait.

Vincent passed Tyler into the apartment, kicking off his boots before he walked over and set the box on the table.

An opened her bedroom door and turned on the light, peering inside.
"Erik, come out. I want you to meet my friend." She said, before she looked back at the door. She blinked, before beconing for Tyler to come in.
"Come on in and close the door. I don't want the neighbors cat to get in again."

The reason for why became apparent as bird the size of a chicken but much more outragous looking wobbled into the doorway and tilted it's head. A Lady Amhert's Pheasant.
"This is Erik. Erik, that's Tyler. Be nice to him okay?" she said, the bird looked up to her and cooed, before it began to waddle acrossed the room to greet the man.

Tyler stepped gingerly inside, pulling the door close behind himself. He breathed another sigh of relief as he heard the door click shut, and he took his first look around Ancelin's apartment.

He really had no idea what to expect... other than it being immaculately clean.

And that expectation was shattered a moment later as he saw an animal coming towards him. He froze, remaining perfectly still as he watched Erik come closer, and closer, and closer.

"Is it gonna bite, scratch, or poop on me?"

Ancelin's apartment looked much like the pet store she worked at in some ways. The entire left wall was lined with large fish tanks. On the wall farthest from the door was an old orangish yellow couch with throw pillos and a blanket tossed on it, serounded by a wooden coffee table and two end tables that held lamps and a phone.

To the right was a small walk in kitchen that took up a quater of the room, the other quater being taken up by a kitchen table with six chairs. On the wall that Tyler was standing by was a wooden entertainment system with a TV and several various music devices. CDs filling up the bottom shelves to the brim. And, of coarse, it was spotless.

"No, Erik is just like a little feather covered human. He's perfectly behaved." An said, as she retrieved the fish bags from the box and set them inside a tank full of common house fish.

"I'm going to wash up and change while the water in the bags adjusts to the tank. Feel free to get a drink or watch TV while you wait for me." She said before she closed her bedroom door.

Vincent folded his hands in front of him and glanced over at Erik, who was currently clucking and walking about the room.

The Lost Egg

Ancelin_Kuronaho
((Alrighty, that's cool. XD I'm just gonna go ahead and do it in here because it's easier to keep track of. ))

Does anyone remember the movie Beauty and the Beast? Or remember that scene where Belle puts a bunch of seeds in the Beasts hands and birds flock all over him? What relevance does this have? Simple. That's what Ancelin looked like right now.

The young pheasant girl was standing in the flower garden of the Sin mansion, with at least 30 various small and medium sized birds perched on her chirping and singing away, with at least another 30 more eating seeds scattered at her feet. The young pheasant girl giggled and laughed as she felt their small legs roam over her bare arms and shoulders, all taking turns at the sunflower seeds and bread crumbs in her palms.
"Careful now, there's enough for everyone." She said, as a small female finch pecked at her braids. "Hey now! That's not food!"

Gloha
(( XD No, it's all right. I guess she... wandered off while they were in the city or something. >.>;;; ))

Megan felt like she had been walking for hours ever since she had lost Gloha. Which she probably had been. She hadn't meant to wander off or anything, it just sort of happened. There had just been so many people! But now, as she turned down another road, there were none. She kept going though, sure that if she walked long enough, she'd come to something. And she was right, this time. She suddenly found herself in front a a huge house that loomed up in front of her. Megan tried to recall the word for a place like this. Skyscraper? No... Ah, mansion. That was it. She smiled to herself, thinking about how proud Terry would have been that she remembered her lessons. She peered up at it, wondering whether or not she should go in. But Gloha had taught her that you weren't supposed to go into other people's houses without permission. Megan sighed, but brightened a bit suddenly. She couldn't go in, but she could go around to the back to see if anyone was home. She walked slowly, her feet suddenly feeling sore now that she had stopped for a moment. As she reached the back, she smiled as she saw that there was someone there. That someone was covered in birds, but that only served to make her more interesting to Megan. Not wanting to disturb whatever it was that the older girl was doing, Megan took a seat on the ground, and stared up at her, fascinated by all the birds.

Ancelin_Kuronaho
As if roused by the new presence, a few of the birds of Ancelin's body lept off and took flight, which had a domino effect causing the rest to spread their wings and flap off. Ancelin reached down and held her skirt down from the sudden wind they caused, her pigtails whipping behind her shoulders. She smiled as she watched them fly away, folding her arms behind her back.

The young woman then tilted her head from side to side. She heard one finch cry out 'human' as it took flight, so that lead her to assume that there was somebody else in the garden. Finally, she spotted a small child over at the corner of the house.
"Hello." She called out, turning her body to face the young girl. "Need help getting inside?" she asked, assuming this girl was of her own kind. She remembered how difficult it was to get inside when she was that age, when she wasn't tall enough to reach the doorknob.

Gloha
Megan watched in awe as all the birds took flight almost in unison. There were so many, and all has been sitting on just that one person! She gazed at them for a moment longer, her eyes wide, until she realized that she was being spoken to. Quickly, she stood up and shook her head vigorously. "No, that's all right," she said, not really understanding why she would need to go inside, "I really just need to find my mom. I lost her..." She wondered if Gloha was out looking for her right now. She would probably be getting frantic by now... But this wasn't the first time that Megan had gotten herself lost. Just the worst she'd ever been lost.

Ancelin_Kuronaho
Ancelin frowned softly when the child told her she was lost. She walked closer and knelt down slightly, so that she could be eye level with her.
"Where was the last place you saw her? Does she have a cell phone? We can call her and tell her where you are if she does." Ancelin said as she rested her hands on her knees. That was odd, the child looked like one of her kin, but she was lost? Well.. the mansion grounds where large and vast, and at the same time Sin weren't the only freaky looking humanoids out there.

"I'm Ancelin. I'll help you find your mother, so don't worry." She said, tilting her head to the side as she smiled.

Gloha
Megan returned the smile with a broad one of her own. She was just glad that she had finally found someone to talk to. She hadn't liked all that time spent alone while she was walking. "We were in the city," she said, "From... That way." She turned and pointed to her right, the direction from which she had been walking when she had turned down this road. She remembered that she had made a few other turns while she had been walking, but only two at the most. Or, she thought it had been two... "And she does have a phone, but..." she shook her head, "She doesn't answer it. Especially not for people she doesn't know. But she did give me the number!" With that, she stuck her hand into her pocket and pulled out a rather crumpled piece of paper. Gloha had given it to her after the second time she'd gotten lost, but she'd never had to use it until now, so it had been sitting in there for a little while.

Ancelin_Kuronaho
Ancelin reached out and took the number from the small girls hands and read over the digits.
"Well.. I'll leave a voice mail. At the very least if she's looking for you she might answer it thinking it's you." She said as she stood up and looked in the direction that the girl had come from. She had walked a long way, to come from the city. Seeing as the mansion was smack dab in the middle of a forest.

"Come on, we'll go inside and I'll use the phone. Are you hungry? Thirsty? I can get you anything you like, so long as it's in our kitchen." Ancelin smirked. She then held her hand out for the girl to hold onto, so she could lead her into the mansion where she could rest.

Gloha
Megan grasped the hand readily, and nodded. Maybe the woman was right, maybe Gloha would answer if she really was looking for her. But she wasn't sure. She hadn't thought much about it before, but she really was exhausted, now that she had had a chance to rest. And she hadn't eaten anything since breakfast that morning. Her stomach growled impatiently, and she wondered how she hadn't noticed it before. It was weird, how much she had overlooked everything else in her search for Gloha. Usually, she noticed right away when she was getting hungry, but that hadn't really seemed important twenty minutes ago. Not that it really would have been any help if she had found that she was tired or hungry. Probably would have slowed her down even more.

Ancelin_Kuronaho
Ancelin lead the girl into the kitchen, picking up a cordless phone on the way. She opened up the fridge door and held it there with her foot, while she skimmed over the paper again.
"Take your pick of anything you want. Most of it was grown by Jani.. Accept for the meat of coarse." She said, before getting ready to hit the dial button. She then paused.

"I don't think I got your name, sweet heart. And what's your mothers name?" she asked, looking down at the small child. It would probably help if she said the girls name rather than just 'I found your kid' when she left the message.

Gloha
Megan stared at the food. She didn't know what to take at first, but was afraid that if she waited too long, than Ancelin might get tired of holding the door open. So, she grabbed an apple from the bottom shelf, and backed away, taking a small, almost cautious, bite as she did so. The fruit was good though, and she smiled to herself. She had no idea who Jani was, but she silently thanked her. "I'm Megan," she said, "And Gloha is my mom."

Ancelin_Kuronaho
Ancelin nodded her head, still leaving the door open as the girl grabbed the apple, incase she wanted anything else. She then hit the 'talk' button on the phone and inserted the number on the paper, before holding it to her ear and waiting.

As predicted, she got the voice mail. Ancelin cleared her throat while the message went on about speaking after a beep, and once the high pitched tone rung out, she began speaking.
"Hello, my name is Ancelin Kuronaho, and I've found your daughter Megan. She's currently here at the Sin'aeis mansion and is perfectly safe so ether call me back for directions or come as soon as you can to pick her up." An said, before she hit the 'end' button on the other side of the phone.

An then reached inside the fridge and got out a pitcher of lemonade, before she smiled at Megan.
"Don't worry, I'm sure she'll be here soon."

Gloha
Megan nodded and smiled. She wasn't actually that worried. She was used to being lost, and it often led her to interesting places, so it was usually all right in the end. Like now. She was content to be in a stranger's house, talking to someone she had never met before. Meeting new people was always fun, even if Gloha seemed to think it was dangerous. She never had understood that way of thinking though, so mostly ignored it.

Gloha had ignored the phone at first. She had just been so frantic, running around the entire city all day in search of Megan. The little girl was just so easily lost, even with that bright head of hers. After a few minutes though, Gloha thought about the phone. What if Megan had given someone the number? She quickly pulled the phone out of her pocket and listened to the message left on it. She breathed a sigh of relief when she heard that Megan was all right, but wasn't done panicking yet. After all, she had no idea where Sin'aeis mansion was. She thought for a second, and then got a cab. Luckily, the man driving it knew where the place was, even though the fare would be a good amount of money. As they drove, she dialed the number for the mansion.

Ancelin_Kuronaho
Ancelin poured two glasses of the liquid before she put the pitcher back into the fridge. She then sat down and held the smaller glass out to the girl along with the piece of paper containing her mothers number.
"I'm actually a little surprised that you're lost. With that head of yours, you could easily be mistaken as one of us. I figured you where a Sin like I am." She said, before she took a sip of the liquid.

Just then the phone began ringing. An's two tone eyes drifted to the electronic device on the table as she sipped at her drink. She picked it up, and when she recognized the number to be that she had just dialed, hit 'talk' and held it up to her ear.
"Hello? Miss Gloha?"

Gloha
Megan took a sip of the lemonade, and stared straight ahead as Ancelin talked to her mother. She was a little disappointed that her time here was going to be short, but glad that Gloha had found her all right. She wondered about what Ancelin had said though. She didn't really know what she was, so maybe she was a Sin. Gloha had already told her that she wasn't really her daughter, but that was obvious. She did look a lot different from other kids that she knew from around her home, but she looked at her colorful head as something that made her unique and different. It made her interesting, and she was glad that she had it, even if she didn't know why.

Gloha was relieved to hear someone pick up the phone. "Yes, hello," she said, trying to keep calm, "Miss Kuronaho? I'm heading your way. I should be there pretty soon I think. Is Megan there?"

Ancelin_Kuronaho
"Yes, she's here with me eating an apple. The poor dear must of wandered a long way to get all the way to the mansion from the city." Ancelin said as her fingers gently drummed a light beat on the table. In the back of her mind she wondered if the girl had gotten blisters. She had a first aid kit to help patch them up if she did.. She'd have to ask once she got off the phone.

"Would you like to speak to her?" she asked, ready to hand the phone out to Megan if she did.

((I'm gonna go to bed now so I don't mess up my schedule anymore. Continue tomorrow? :] ))

Returning Nightmares: Part 2

It was raining outside, thundering as the frozen shards of water tapped against the large store windows. She stood inside, just getting done putting the last metal lid on the display animal cages. She turned the key to lock it, quickly as not to disturb the sleeping puppies inside.

'CRASH!' a loud noise from the front of the store. A base ball bat shattering threw. She turned her head back in shock and quickly ducked behind the cage. Somebody was breaking in. Two, no, three men. All wearing black.

"Where is she, you told us she'd be here." said one of the hooded men. The one in the front peered around, slapping the end of his bat against the palm of his hand.
"Don't worry. She's here." said the 'leader', voice familiar. She recognized it right away.

"Steve!" she gasped, covering her mouth tightly when she realized her outburst. The three men turned their heads in the direction from the corner of the store she was in. Gradually, they spread out. Searching for her as they each took an isle.

She waited, and when she thought she had a clear chance to get away, she made a brake for it. Crouched down she quickly scurried down one of the isle's not being traveled threw. Quickly, as she squinted from the lizard cage lights. A small baby beardy looked up to her with it's paws against the glass. It tilted it's head. She took a deep breath and looked forward, before standing to break out into a run.

She got to the end of the isle, surely home free, before she suddenly felt a pressure around her neck and landed on her back. As her vision cleared she could see an arm held out, she had been close lined.
"I got her, boss!" said the third male voice as he quickly crouched over her and pinned her to the ground. She let out a scream, and the two others came over, chuckling.

"Scream all you want, slut. Nobody's going to hear you." said Steve as he lifted his mask off his face. His eyes where glowing, red and demonic. Features sharp and gaunt as his lips spread over sharp fangs. He slowly walked over, bat in hand, before he lifted it above his head and brought it back down. It came colliding down into her stomach, knocking the wind right out of her. She tried to scream, but nothing came out.

Suddenly the second masked man pinned her legs while the other shifted to just her arms. She tried to struggle, but she was too weak.
"Help! Somebody help me please!" she gasped, voice hardly a whisper.

Steve smirked and dropped the bat to the ground before he fell to his knees. He then reached down to his pants, undoing his belt.
"Shut up, slut. You where asking for it." he said, laughing.

"HELP!!"

"Ancelin! Ancelin!"

"HELP ME!!"

"ANCELIN!!"

An suddenly sprung up in her bed, panting as sweat and tears rolled down her face. She franticly looked around the room.
"Another nightmare.." She exhaled with relief, bringing her hand up to wipe the water from her cheek and brush her bangs out in one passing.
"Ancelin.." came Erik's small voice. Ancelin looked down to see her pheasant's concerned gaze stare up at her. The bird leaned over and rubbed his head against her arm, cooing softly. An lifted her arm up and gently hugged him and buried her face in his colored feathers.
"Oh Erik.. Why wont they stop?"
