She nodded, moving her head minimally so as not to rattle her brain. "I'm alright, now." she spoke, scooting closer to him. She was angry at herself... she hated bieng the center of attention. She whined pitifully, hoping the alphas wouldn't be angry with her for disrupting the settling of the pack.

Not knowing what to do, Devvyl watched as his mate, Hige, and Thayne tried to bring Loki around. Apparently it worked, because he soon saw the female's eyes open, a look of fear and confusion upon her features.
Relieved, Devvyl rose. We need to get her warm, he announced. We can take her to the hill by the river, and dig a den for her there.
But below his firm, controlled surface, he was a wreck. He was the alpha of a pack, and he hadn't known what to do when one of his packmates was sick. What had happened? And what would have happened if Devvyl had continued to just sit there like an idiot, if Loki hadn't been able to awaken on her own?

"I'll start on a den for us." Hige confirmed with a nod, the sooner Loki (and Thayne, he hadn't forgotten about his 'little brother'.) got out of the chilled air, the better. "We were thinking that we'd make one under one of the trees, instead, though."

"We were thinking that we'd make one under one of the trees, instead, though."
Loki smiled at this. Of course he'd remembered she would fancy a den under a great tree, just like the one she was born in. She licked the top of Thayne's head to calm him, just in case the pup was still worried.

Devvyl smiled, and nodded. That's all right with me, he told them.
((...Bah, can't think of anything else. xD))

Hige felt a bit more at ease with Devvyl's permission. He didn't suspect that he'd say no without good reason, but he knew that Loki wanted a tree-bound den.
He detangled himself carefully, slipping back enough to stand, and placed his paws. His massive, furred head brushed against hers in affection. He spoke so that Devvyl, Thayne, and Selia could hear as well. He wanted them to know where they would make their home within their home. "I think that I saw one that would be perfect, on the way to the clearing."

Loki nuzzled Hige back before gingerly testing her strength. She pushed herself to a sitting position, then finally to stand beside her mate. Her head still hurt especially near her right ear, but she could still hear despite the pain. She nodded at Hige's words, and readied herself to follow him wherever he would go.

Her scent stirred within his nostrils again, along with the scents of Thayne and the others and the crisp winter air as they shifted.
"Come on, guys." Hige sent an encouraging nudge to Thayne, and a look to Loki. He turned yellow eyes to the two alpha and nodded, bowing his head and lowering his tail to show his thanks, somehow it just felt like the right thing to do.
He shot a small smile to both, then, they were still his parents after all. Once the non-verbal conversation was done Hige turned (Thayne AND Loki) his family off in the direction of the main pack-site.
Loki might need the suport still, so he kept close to her in case she needed to lean on him for strength. "There's a big tree at the bottom of the hill with the others. It's not too far from where i think the others will form their dens. It'll be perfect for all of us. Roots and strong packed dirt to help keep it warm, close to the pack... and lots of room for Thayne and our pups."
This was said with a sly undertone, though not without optimistic pride.
The trees loomed up ahead like a grand fence around the perimeter. A few large and medium trees stood out away from the treeline, their great roots having found refuge in the soil long before the younger trees.

Soul nudged Aoiko, as she began to trot back towards were the pack was. her eyes swirling with colors as the cold winds blew across her fur. she licked at her dry nose, whimpering slightly because of the cold, then she shook it off, looking back to Aoiko, and yipping towards him to follow her. the ice was sterdy still, as she stood apoun it, able to see the claw marks she had made. she grinned slightly as she troted quickly towards selia and the others, sniffing slightly, then barking in greeting, but slowly her happy self disappeared as she looked to Loki, in the center of the small circle shaking? she whimpered, and moved towards them. 'w-What happened!?' her nose flared as she looked on. she feared that the wolf had fallen into the river. she figuared, a long while ago, that Loki was sick, when she first met her, she knew slightly something was wrong....but never did she acctually think it would affect her much. she sat, looking again, then spoke 'is there anything i can do?' her head lowered to look at Loki better.

Loki sniffed at Soul and wuffed. "Thank you for your concern, I'm alright now, I just.. I.. I don't know, really." she answered, disconcerted that she didn't even know what happened to her. She politely excused herself from the others presence and followed Hige to the area he had said he saw a perfect spot in. She was eager to have a den to hide in. Her scent was changing as mating season drew near.

soul looked to Loki then nodded. 'alright, just....be more careful' her voice was soft as she spoke. for the few days she knew Loki, she found that Loki was a good friend. even if they hadn't talked...something about that wolf made her change at times...but she shook it off timidly, and sat panting slightly, now that she had found Loki fine, the running she did over here got to her.
her nose flared as she wiffed in many scents at a time. the she-wolfs now changing, getting ready for mating season. she let out a yawn, bareing her canines. she wondered if...possibly....she would have a mate...but no, there was no one really...he wasn't in this pack, and she hadn't seen him in a long while.... with a sigh, she looked to the pack, then to Aoiko, wondering were he had gone.

Aoiko was not too far behind... coming in with a rabbit caught in his jaw. It looked like he had some trouble catching it, but eventually suceeded.
He let out a nod at Soul before heading torward Loki and Hige, letting the rabbit on the ground.
"...I heard it from there." He said, hoping the two would not see it as an insult. "Are you okay, Loki ? I tought you might be hungry... I can go again if you three want to, while you're digging your dens."
...Ill't be better that way, as he had no idea of how to dig a decent den. >_>;;;
And of course, he did notice the females' sent where changing... It didn't take a genius to figure out why, and he caught himself wondering how good of a father he could be. Not that he tought it would never happen... He barely knew any wolves, and couldn't see what redeeming qualities a female would see in him.
...And why did he think about it, anyway ? He was still way too young for that kinda stuff, right ?

Loki turned to look as she caught Aoiko's scent approaching from behind. She snuffled his neckfur in a greeting, and sat to rest. "I'm alright now, thank you Aoiko." she stared down at the rabbit, indecisive over whether she could eat it or not. "Thank you very much." she said again, feeling dumb. She leant her head to take the rabbit, thinking that at least Thayne or Hige might be hungry if she couldn't eat it.

Devvyl sucked at digging dens. XD!
The only one he'd dug before had been his little den beneath the tree that he and Selia had used as a temporary one before the move, and it had barely been big enough for the two of them. Den digging was a she-wolf's job (he's not being a chauvinistic p***k here, I swear :O!), something that males simply didn't have the instinct for.
And speaking of males and instinct... Selia smelled strange.
He turned his head toward her, sneaking a glance, looking for something that could have changed her scent. Beneath, she was the same old Selia, but very nearly covering that was an odd musk.
...Oh.

((Well, after Gaia ate my post XB;; here's try number two. *huff*))
Hige had noticed as well, the scent, the hinting shift of odor. It also made him feel strange, but it just gave him all the more reason to begin digging the den. It made him feel on edge, knowing that there were other males that might come sniffing around HIS mate. That in itself unnerved the gamma. He trusted the others, right? Why was it that he felt like he was going to snap at the next male that got too close to Loki, then?
He had already reached the tree by the time Loki left the group, and he'd begun pawing at the cold earth between the roots at the base of a strong oak. Thankfully it hadn't frozen over much yet, it made it easier for his paws to move the dirt aside. He didn't particularly know much about digging a den but he sure as hell knew how to dig.
So, now, here he was, this well grown wolf, (and an expert fisher *lol*) pawing at the dirt like there was no tomorrow, sending snow and earth flying out behind him. Since Loki was too tired to do this for them, he'd do as her father had done before and make a home for his family. He'd dig it deep, even if he had to dig all night. That scent was enough to egg him on to try to finish before nightfall. He was going to become quite the protective one indeed.
