"Ryoko is my daughter, and she would have liked you..." Her voice trailed off at the end. "She was quite the spitfire. Never would have guess when she was a small child.... The cute little orchid that she was....." Asherah nuzzled his chest gently, then fell silent.

He definitely knows when to take a hint, and this was more like a big neon sign that read, CLOSED. He decides not to bring up his children at the moment and tires to think of something else to talk about. "So how did you end up on this island, if I may ask?"

"Floated here on a boat. Got board so I pushed said 'Ohh.. Boat trip...' Good thing I did though." She paused for a moment. "But yeah, floating, all that nonsense.. What about you?"

"I swam," is all he said in reply, a small smirk on his features.

"Oh haha." She said while poking him gently. "Smart a**..."

Yet another long pause silenced the conversation. Asherah leaned her on his chest and gently sighed. Little wisps of her hair danced in the wind as a gust swept through. The silence was nice, only the night could be heard. With her ear to his chest, it was almost as if she could hear the stream clearer than the very one near her. But as he breathed, the roar of the ocean echoed through her bones, setting her more at ease. Her muscles relaxed, her curves seemed to melt in his arms. For the first time in many moons, Asherah could breathe easily. She only hoped, the sound of the ocean would not leave her...

Asherah is like the boat she rode to the island on. A small thing in a vast world, lost within it's waves until it's finds something it can anchor and find harbor in. Something about the way her body reacts after her comment catches Enki's attention. Enki was once called an island of a man, long, long ago. It would seem that the statement is becoming true as this small, frightened boat seems to have found a harbor for which she can feel safe. A small smile rests upon Enki's lips as he watches the girl in his arms, for the first time really looking at her and not exactly toward her. Dear Gaea, she is so gorgeous...

And of course, they followed. Best not to be rude on another person's turf, after all. Besides, it would hopefully not take that long. Then again, it didn't matter how long it took, as long as the message was sent and the point got across. There was nothing to fear...

So why did they feel like they were voluntarily stepping into a den of lions, as the saying went?

Like Flarus and Baltus had before them, Relt and Tyris took seats in the center of the room. There were enough human-sized chairs present to accommodate David and the rest of the group -- after all, the Wise Ones had expected to see many humans this day, and had prepared accordingly.

After they sat down as well, it was the once again the golden Draconian directly in front of them who leaned forth and spoke first.

"Welcome, visitors. Relt has informed me that you are interested in learning a few things about our humble culture. But we are puzzled -- there are many on the island who could inform you about such things other than we. So, I ask, why do you wish to see us?"

Asherah closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"You know, I don't remember that town being so far..." This was said in a soft voice, very soft. "Enki did you pass it?"

Opening one eye, and looking up at him, she maintained a small blush to coat her features.

"Hmm?" She smiled gently.

.Antique Heartbeat.

Looking down at her, Enki smiles a soft smile, gazing deeply into her eyes before glancing back up. "I don't believe I did for I was sure the city lay upon the river, though I could have always been wrong. Should we stop here and camp for the night or continue on?"

"That's just the thing," David said diplomatically. "We would rather speak to someone of authority- someone who is an expert on such things. Who better to ask then, than the leaders of the village? No offense to anyone else, of course; it's just that we're still a bit uncomfortable, and a bit worried about starting off on the wrong foot."

Truly spoken.

The Golden Draconian seemed to take a moment to think about this . . . then nodded.

"Well, alright then. What would you like to know?"
PostPosted: Fri Nov 23, 2007 11:25 pm

The first question was quite obvious, but it would be rude to just say it in a blunt manner. Then again, it was a rude question of itself. The answer was right in front of them, of course... they could see very well what had happened. The question was...

"How did you turn out this way? To become half dragon and half human... or at least, that's what you appear to be. Unless you are an entirely new species, which would be a poor assumption on my part."

The entire council of Wise Ones seemed to give pause in the face of this question. A string of quiet whispers passed among them . . . then the golden Draconian raised his hand, and they fell silent.

"Certainly, a forward question . . . but one we are willing to answer." Then he gestured toward an even older-looking green Draconian sitting a few chairs away from him. "In this case, I shall defer to Silat, our chief historian."

The aging Draconian he referred to stood, cleared his throat, and spoke.

"I suppose you have heard of Angara? Also known as the land of the Dragons?" he asked in an voice that practically creaked with age.

David nodded. "The area is common knowledge by now. What of it?"

The men that protected him remained silent. This would be, if nothing else, an interesting story. David however was genuinely intrigued by the Draconians- how exactly did this come to pass in the first place? Why had it happened, and was it necessary?

"I will keep this short, then," the chief historian continued. "Long ago, we were residents of Angara. We were created by the Dragons from their flesh and those of humans, originally to serve them as soldiers in their ongoing war against humanity. We fought well for them, and eventually the enemy was forced to abandon their campaign."

Abruptly, the historian's expression darkened, as if he were recalling something quite unpleasant.

"After the end of the war, we were not treated well by the Dragons. We were denied many rights. Some simply did not like us. Others viewed us as outright abominations. Fortunately, after many years of abuse, a great Draconian named Kratos led us to rebellion, and we conducted a mass exodus from Angara over the sea. Sadly, Kratos died in an attack by an extremist faction of Dragons attempting to prevent us from leaving. However, as you can see, they failed."

He paused for a moment to clear his throat again, then resumed his speech.

"After many weeks of wandering the open ocean, we came upon these islands -- the Virconian archipelago . . ."

He paused again . . . then smiled fondly.

". . . our home."
