Nanji watched as all went on, her eyes wide and contemplative as she was lifted and dropped unceremoniously on the bed beside Sariel. The book was lying in the corner, some of its pages now creased funny at the edges, a real pity for a book as beautiful as that. Her gaze flickered between Arcus and Sariel; time seeming to stand still as both began to breathe heavily, the eerie silence shattered by the voice now echoing through the bar.

“You should make them go away… I don’t like you; I don’t like that book any more… I…” The sentence was cut off as it tried to push its way through her rose tinted lips, her ears catching sound of something soft; a warm rustling coming from the corner. The pages of the book were flapping all too quickly, as if it were outside on a windy day; however there was no wind in the small room… Nanji’s eyes grew wider then before, her breath caught in her throat as she looked to the corner of the room; a large pair of arms slowly edging their way from the paper prison.

A sudden look of panic washed over her, her eyes shutting tightly as she realized what was about to come… There would be no sweet vampiric creature, no dark haired maiden or the warmth of the garden described in the story; this time there would be the wolf his cold brown eyes filled with hunger and desire, the taste for blood already lingering on his lips. Nanji pulled the covers over her head with a small and panicked cry, acting as if this whole situation would be ended as easily as a bad dream, acting as if it would go away if it was out of her line of sight. Her whole body seemed to shake as she listened to what was going on outside the blankets, her mind racing with a certain paranoia, the certain knowledge that the story might indeed repeat itself; The princess in the story would be spared this evening, perhaps it would be Nanjis own flesh and blood that would replace hers…

Arcus blinked, breaking eye contact with sariel, and next to the strung-out angel, the door to the tavern would open. "Come In!" arcus hollered, so whoever was at the door, fed or clergy they may be, would know to enter. He turned back to sariel, and leveled the blade at the book. "I am going to destroy that book, and the fed is going to take the fall for it. Are We CLEAR?" With that, he strode over, and with a grandiose motion, went to plunge the blade deep into the literature. Something stopped him. He couldn't tell you what it was, even today, but something did, and it was long enough for whatever was trying to escape the book to do so.

Hikaru swiftly entered, practically running. He immediately began to notice the power leaking from the upper areas of the bar. He seemingly leaped with each step, displaying an amazing amount of grace and control. In only a few seconds he was already halfway up the staircase, And even quicker to the door. He could now sense it...

And he shuddered. Something was crawling through, and he could feel it, all the sin. the other people gave off normal, maybe slightly elevated levels of it, but the ones from the thing coming through were strong enough to display them to Hikaru, to let him see all of the taint that this vile thing was. And then, Hikaru did something odd.

He smiled.

He put his palm over the door handle and lock. It would be easier this way, to trap it all, and kill what comes out. He concocted a small spell, just something that filled the latch and doorknob mechanism with a plant, which made vines and tendrils almost immediately, and then became swollen and hard, and woody within a matter of three seconds.

He decided to take a closer look, and cast a quick sense aura. Then, oddly...

"Arcus?"

Vaatra crawled out of bed fully clothed. As he did this he summoned a bottle of scotch and a cigar. he began drinking straight from the bottle. the cigar lit itself as soon as he put it to his lips. So he puffed away. He was not dressed in the suit he was in earlier, though he did not remember much of...earlier. Or how he got back to his room for that matter. Now he was dressed in a tank top and sweat pants, with cute little green mutant bunny slippers. He meandered his way out of his room when he realized why he had woken up in the first place. Someone was there, in the tavern. someone angelic. He went back to drinking and meandering, until he was within sight of the celestial creature. and then he gave a very typical, very crude, very cocky grin and said..."Wassup."

((Sir, yes sir Robert.))

“Like hell you will…”

His voice was a low snarl, his eyes flashing from their usual ocher to a black tinged red. This book meant everything to him, it was his life for more years then he could figure, more experiences then one single person could ever expect to have. The book would stay intact; regardless of what was coming out of it.
There was a small slithering sound coming from the doorway, and slowly a very interesting creature stepped into sight, the mere scent of the man assaulting every one of Sariel’s senses. The smell of peppermint was sending a shiver up his spine, and flooding his brain with memories.

The feeling he was experiencing at the moment silenced all else, it was as if this creature were Fate itself finally come to take him back home. Sariel snapped out of it slowly, the soft breathing of everybody else in the room waking him and bringing him back between the rock and the hard place. The book… Something was off, something big was now pushing it’s way through the covers, through the faded yellow pages; a somewhat loud ripping noise was now filling his ears, a small laugh coming form somewhere deep in his throat. Curiosity brought but one question to mind, one question that would rise above anything else; what had disappeared in order for this creature to come out?

"You shouldn't read me so longingly, Sariel."

Some six feet of relaxed, unwound instinct stood before the vampire, clothed in modern leathers and haphazard rags, an ensemble of rebel and gypsy in one, yet somehow held together just so, just right - just enough to make for a regal, elegant semblance.

"It's...improper."

The Wolf seemed to flow with every motion, sliding comfortably through space as he stepped around and behind Sariel, as his arms wound about the vampire's shoulders.

"You know it to be unkind - arousing a newborn tale to such lust..."

The dull thud of manufactured rubber on wood, the clink of chain and buckle - the Wolf spun about, a dancer with no partner that could match - he stepped to the bedside, almost kneeling as he crouched, a hungry flame in those dark eyes at the sight of Nanji.

"But I forgive, my breathless love. You have for me a gift, an offering to soften your misbehavior. Kill the demon. It is in the way."

As the beast spoke of Arcus, its singsong, lilting tone turned bland and uninterested - Shadowson really was a rather irrelevant detail. And how convincing, how melodiously right those words seemed, pouring from those shapely, expressive lips.

Without any doubt that Arcus would be out of the way, the Wolf would ignore him - one cinnamon skinned hand reaching loosely into the dark beneath his jacket.

A dagger, seven inches long, thudded merrily into the mattress half an inch from Nanji's leg.

The room went quiet for a little while and slowly she peeked her head out of the covers, her wide eyes eagerly glimpsing the creature now wrapped about Sariel; his voice a warm purr, flowing with some accent or another. He was almost stunning, the way he spoke of the story making it seem as if he were speaking of a fairytale. Quickly he spun around and she watched him come closer, something about the creature was keeping her pinned, something in his dark eyes.

With a small whimper she watched as he knelt beside her, his hand disappearing for a moment and a long, smooth knife slipping into the bed beside her. There was no sound that escaped her open mouth, more of a small shiver that was sent down her spine. ‘An offering?’ The sound of those words ran repeatedly through her head, the very though of such a thing bringing small droplets of tears to her eyes.

((Sorry love, I was on a trip... From now on though I think Sariel is going to write my posts <3))

Arcus turned to face the thing coming out of the book. This was no little evil, nor was the book a small artifact. These things were of a higher grade than he had dealt with for a long time. And he was alone. He didn't particularly care for the odds, so, with seeming abandon he spun, Bloodlust flashing in the dimly lit room, and cut the roots on the door, enough so that he might batter it open. He caught his balance and kicked with much gusto, the door swinging outwards, hinges busted.

He hadn't been prepared for the face he saw there however. "Hikaru?" This was a shocking discovery due mostly to the fact that the entity standing before him had no needles sticking out of his arms, no joint hanging from his lips. The smell of peppermint was familiar. Familiar enough that Arcus experienced, albeit breifly, a flashback to before The Fall.

Hikaru stepped away from the door to look at Jester. Good thing too, because the door fell only four inches away from his foot. Hikaru's head twisted to the side, and looked at both of them, with a pause. He shook his head, and looked Arcus right in the eye.

"Ah, the blood traitor. Tell me, mother ********, been having fun?"

At this point, it appeared that Hikaru's entire face twitched, as the scimitar unsheathed itself with impressive speed, and entirely on it's own accord. The tip of the beautiful blade pointed itself at Arcus's heart, but stayed at bay now.
Hikaru began spitting words again, the sword slowly swaying up and down.

"As much as I would love to skewer you, if you cooperate I'll leave you and all of your friends without any scathe. Help me get that book, and the church will forget you."

Ah yes, the book. One of the more powerful items floating around in the universe, and quite possibly the most interesting. A few pieces of Hikaru cringed at the thought of it getting into the churches hands. However, he had his justifications for it all, and seemingly god agreed. He had not cut Hikaru loose yet.

Vaatra just smiled and sipped his drink, his eyes rolled as the conversation between his brother and the angel that had once been their friend continued. He remembered the good old days when he and Arcus were still of the angelic sort and Hikaru was one of their dearest friends. Then the rebellion happened. Vaatra didn't regret any of it until he saw his mentor Adrian get tortured by the angel Ezekial, After watching his teacher get branded then have his wings hacked off, he knew he was better off a demon. After the fall Adrian became Adramelech, the Prince of Fire.

Vaatra was going to enjoy this night. He was going to enjoy it a lot. "Hey Hikaru. all alone? Why not call Ezekial, I'm sure his brother would love to see him."

Sariel managed to suppress a snarl when the creature touched him, his eyes glowing a rather violent shade of mahogany for the briefest of moments.

“Arousing a newborn tale, is that why haven’t I met you before?”

His voice was low as he watched the creature near Nanji, the knife in the mattress a most unappealing sight when bloodlust was coursing over the tip of his tongue. Arcus quickly disappeared after that so the three were alone that very thought sending a shiver down the man’s spine. Rather quickly he made his way over to Nanji’s side, his hands plucking her from the mattress with reflexive speed and a low growl pressing from his cherubic features. This creature could not be human; this creature has a slight purr to his voice making him suspect some sort of feline, a coy detachment from some other kin.

“You best watch yourself, I am not in the mood to play games when it comes to Nanji.”

It would seem as though the creature really cared for the girl he now held in his hands, his eyes shifting lazily from obsidian to violent shades of red; he was no longer a creation, he was his own being. With slow deliberate steps he easily turned away from the creature at the bedside, his back turned and his breathing slow and forced; such trivial human tendencies.

Thwuck...

Sariel would stumble - not of pain, or any real damage, no. It was simply a shock - any creature, be they wrought of words or flesh, couldn't help but cringe a bit when a knife finds itself in their spinal column. One lip curling slightly curling, the man moved onward, carrying Nanji as ever before - complete disregard for the the curving guard and grip sticking disconcertingly from the base of his neck, a small trickle of blood forming around the blade...

Shhk...

The spray didn't seem to actually stain a single thing - a spatter of crimson flashed out, and then failed to ever reach the ground. Born of ink, of ink made - to ink bound. No one really bleeds in a story. The spatter flowed through the air, slipping out and across the blade as it gleamed - a swift slash across the spine - and vanished in midair.

"Games are what we are, Sariel, my dear."

Quick as the gleam in a tiger's eye - with all the soft, distorted grace of an inked feathers' scritch, scritch, scritch...

"And I'm not playing."

The Wolf swung - aiming a debilitating strike with the palm, seeking to 'box' Sariel across the side and back of the head harder than even the dead would stand...

Sariel felt the blades dig deep into his soft flesh and for a moment the room was silent, all was silent as he dropped to his knees, all was silent as he felt Nanji roll from his arms and hit the ground below. The wolf’s second strike would not connect; instead he would fall to his side, his eyes still closed and his body incredibly still. The paper bound mortal was no more. With a soft gasp Sariel opened his eyes and a wide smile flitted across his lips, a look of sheer bliss in his eyes, and a dark black trail beginning to pool around his body. There was nothing more then this, no words, no movement, just a simple and tidy defeat.

With in moments he began to fade, the blackened ink now pouring from his body touching but a single page of the tattered book beside him; slowly absorbing the liquid into long parched pages, pages thirsty to create a new fairytale, something to take the wolf’s place… He would be locked into the real realms for an eternity.

In Sariel’s place there was now a hollowed shell, a small tattered page lying in place of the body that had occupied the space only moments before. Nanji would be alone now, her fears left to grow and her body left to the wolf; the only offering Sariel could give to save her.
