Erik deserves better than this!!!! What I can't fathom (er, I mean phathom) is how ALW can even STAND having his masterpiece be made into some story not even worthy of Raoul's hair-ribbons crying Are the rumors true about ALW making a MUSICAL out of it? The Phan Guild isn't the first place I've heard of it; but WHERE did the rumor START? ~ heart LONG LIVE TRADITIONAL PHANTOMS!!! heart ~

Here's the thing you've gotta know about ALW: 1) It's not his masterpiece. It is, as has been said before, his cash cow. He's messing with material that is not his own, which probably factors in with why he's doing it.
2) The man is a greedy, arrogant git. He also is friends with the greedy, arrogant git who wrote Phantom of Manhattan in the first place. *shakes fist at Forsyth*
ALW just wants money. Phantom of the Opera's popularity practically guarantees that its sequel will be seen. Also, ALW probably wouldn't have done it if the material for a sequel wasn't provided to him. He's failed several times creating musicals from scratch.
It was decided almost, if not more than, a year ago if I remember correctly.

*hits head on keyboard* No....NO...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ALW, what the hell were you thinking?!:
1. Extremely cliche and stupid title (only a little better and than "Once Upon Another Time" but still as cliche) 2. Erik is NOT a robo-phile! 3. Erik RUNNING a freak show?! That's extremely ironic, considering his past. Why the hell would he run a show like the one that he was in his childhood? He HATES what happened! 4. Coney Island, NY? SERIOUSLY? Of all the places to set the sequel, you pick Coney Island? (I know the sequel is based off that stupid book "Phantom of Manhattan", but he could have came up with the plot or at least the setting by himself.) 5. Gustave... stare Do I really have to say why I hate it? 6. Grr...greedy, selfish man...
oh and
7. Can I buy your cat Otto, ALW? I want to be the owner of the cat that tried to save Phans worldwide and Phantom itself. Can I at least take a picture with him, or get his autograph? Please?

I finally checked my email and saw the 'Love Never Dies' site and launch video. The song was not so bad but the story....gawd. ALW is actually serious. Fragrance Of A Rose 3. Erik RUNNING a freak show?! That's extremely ironic, considering his past. Why the hell would he run a show like the one that he was in his childhood? He HATES what happened! That's what I was thinking. My only guess is Eric is a masochist and had nothing better to do after Christine left him. Fragrance Of A Rose Can I buy your cat Otto, ALW? I want to be the owner of the cat that tried to save Phans worldwide and Phantom itself. Can I at least take a picture with him, or get his autograph? Please? I read somewhere that Otto is not alive anymore unfortunately. sad I was happy when I heard he deleted the score. RIP Otto!

Apparently you guys have not seen this: NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO FIRST PAGE XD The official site for Love Never DiesGawd what a sappy title XDDDD Auuuuugh XD At.. at least the music will be good right.. right!? *....looks at whistle down the wind soundtrack* ......s**t XD Actually WDTW was.... -okay-. The music was good and it had a really interesting premise. It was just... bleh XD Ended up being mediocre and I started recasting people in the show as people in Superstar rofl And Coney Island Waltz doesn't sound TOO bad... EDIT: LOVE NEVER DIES IS EQUALLY AS GAGWORTHY AS ONCE UPON ANOTHER TIME THOUGH xd gonk I thought Love Never Dies was the stage version, now I'm not so sure?

ColorMyPencils bashley13 I'm honestly hungry for more Phantom. I don't care how inaccurate it is, or how much it sucks. I want MORE PHANTOM!! xp My phan-ness blinds me... crying
Just slapping "PHANTOM" on it doesn't make it good. Yeah, it's a sequel, but it's nothing dozens of shitty writers haven't hacked up before. Set it to music, and you have something the soldiers in Iraq can use to torture the enemy with. That last line reminded of an article I read recently. Apparently Western music HAS been used to torture Iraqi prisoners....
I keep thinking of some poor shmuck having to listen to Music of the Night over and over for days on end.....

You know what helps...reading really bad PotO fanfic on ff.net. Like, the worst you can possibly find. Then thinking, "Well, the sequel can't possibly be THIS bad!"
...okay, so it doesn't help. But it's something to do when you're bored.
I'm kind of worried how the music's going to turn out too. :/

I'm on the fence immensely.
I really don't like the idea of a sequel. I very much enjoy the ambiguous ending of the musical.
I'm even less inclined to like it when it has a fanfiction-esque plot that borrows from the Forsyth book that was, well, pretty much fanfiction.
I feel EVEN LESS inclined to like it after it was titled "Love Never Dies."
Still, you never know.
Has anyone listened to the LP yet?

I'm feeling rather confused.
I'm intrigued, but disliking the idea of a sequel as much as anyone here.
I think if I choose to see it, it will be purely for amusement, and I'll treat it like a fan fiction.
Who knows? Maybe it's good? sweatdrop
