Grilled Cheese kyuubi_princess I know this is rather sad, but it's a poem for both Freddie Mercury, and a friend who died last year.
Your smiling face is no longer seen All we have are memories Nothing left but to think of what’s been. So suddenly your breath was taken No one could have guessed the time We just knew you wouldn’t awaken. Time has passed and you’re not forgotten Years from now it will be the same Remembered will be the joy you brought in. It doesn’t seem possible that this is real Taken from the world so young All we know is what we feel. For now we weep But now you’re away from pain And in our memory, you, we will keep. For others your heart was always on loan Caring about others no matter what But all I have for you is this poem. This poem is all I have to give So I hope it is enough And the thought of you in our hearts will live. That's no less than beautiful, Kyuubi. I've seen a lot of sloppily-done poetry in my time and contributed more than my fair share of such poetry if I do say so myself, and this...I really like it. It's very honest and the emotion is pure.
I've been attempting a song about Freddie recently. I'm just having difficulty...I guess because the subject means so much to me, artistically speaking, and the feeling is so huge and almost indefinable that I'm scared stiff of botching up my song. XP I suppose I'll just grit my teeth and finish the job, though, before the idea runs dry from bouncing around in my head for too long. Thanks, and I hope you finish your song. I doubt your poems are sloppy.

You're welcome. Thanks about my poems...you're right, most of them right now are of an okay quality. When I made the remark about my poems being sloppy, I was mostly referring to my early attempts at poetry I made not too long ago...in sixth and seventh grades, I went through this weird phase where I could scarcely write at all, creatively speaking--I mean, I could still crank out "pretty good" essays for school, but the fun of it was pretty much gone. And the poems I wrote during that time...hideous. gonk If you've ever tried to write yourself out of a block, and then reread your work after you'd gotten the "writing mood" back, you'll have a good grasp on the quality level of my early poems. I'll always feel sorry for the poor boy in my Drama class whose only crime was a.) being cute., and b.) crossing my path at that "sucky period" in my artistic life.
The poor guy got oodles of delightfully mediocre poems/songs penned about him! I mean, they make Black Sabbath's lyrics look like Shakespeare. XD
Ramble aside, thanks for the encouragement about my song. : )

Ramble aside, thanks for the encouragement about my song. : ) Early attempts.. yes they can be a form of, lack of a better word, entertainment when you're out of a block. xd Writing yourself out of a block is the same as drawing yourself out of a block. Lately, I've been able to write and draw things of decent quality, but before I had nothing. Oh no! Poor boy! rofl Joking, I know how that is.. have you ever been in a block, but had an inspiration? That's the worst. Welcome for the encouragement.

Oh, yeah, I've totally been there! Getting inspiration while you're blocked, I mean. You have this idea, and you know it's golden and want so badly to immortalize it....but you CAN'T. It's quite maddening. rofl
I frequently run into the issue of having an idea, but not being able to write/draw it for fear of making a bad-quality piece...but my folks just got me this digital recorder as a graduating-from-middle-school gift, and I tried discussing one of my ideas into the recorder for a few minutes. Suddenly the idea was all straightened out in my head, and I wasn't scared of writing it anymore. Have you ever tried that, by any chance?

Ugh, I've had both moments recently. I just can't draw, I can write but I need to draw and I've been getting some good ideas.
Soon I'm going to post some of my art... xD and funny you should mention that fear because that was how I was feeling this morning. I don't think the drawings are all that great... I'll just post Freddie and John. Brian... just didn't turn out. sweatdrop

I'm sorry guys, I lied. I didn't draw John.. that was the original plan, but he just morphed into Roger.. Anyways, here's my attempt at chibi Freddie:
