Kerri felt something in her chest tighten around her heart, even though Skylar's story was much like she expected. She sighed a bitter sigh and shook her head. "I cannot say if I have met him or not, but I would guess not." She sighed again, sounding tired and world-weary, and fought back the urge to cry or scream.
"Many of us," she began softly, haltingly, awkwardly, then made a defeated noise and started over. He had been honest with her. He deserved the same. "You're not alone in losing someone you hold dear," she said lowly, unable to meet Skylar's eyes, "but if I had just given up back then... if I had let myself slip into oblivion like I wanted to after she died... hell, I woke up one night, and all I could think was; if she saw me right now, she'd kick my a** from here to Australia and back because I'm being so pathetic. I had to live my life... because I would've wanted the same for her if we switched places."
"I may be out of line, and this advice may be useless, but I still feel as if I should give it. You cannot blame yourself for a decision that Jason made, and he chose to save you over himself. I can't claim to know his motives, but I can tell you that I would have done the exact same thing for someone I love," Kerri finally finished in a whisper, and her eyes flickered involuntarily to Estrelinah for half a moment before she forcibly banished the odd pull in her chest and fixed her eyes back on the floor, only the lightest of blushes betraying her confusion.
((Can you tell that I just love making things complicated for my characters? blaugh ))

Estrelinah saw Kerri look at her, out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head and tilted it slightly. 'Why did Miss Kerri look like that?' She felt herself blush, and put one hand on her forehead. 'I hope no one's getting sick with a fever, or anything... If they are, I have Dad's medicine book, though. biggrin But just in case, I'll make some tea later.'

" I know, it has been a day to day battle with my soul. I try to let it go but I suppose there will always be that feeling deep down. The 'What if' as my grandmother use to put it. I accept your advice but maybe Jason was turned. Oh I hope not he always disliked vampires and I never found out why... Not that he wouldn't like you guys." Skylar said.
Well, well, well Kerri is a very smart vampire, most likely due to the many years she has lived. Well I just have to snap out of it and let the past be for now, Skylar thought to himself.

Kerri nodded passively to Skylar. "What-if's can be your worst enemy," she said wryly, then smiled a bit and walked the two or three steps back to the others (I'm not avoiding her eyes. I'm not. I'm not avoiding...) and put her hands on her hips. "So, what now?"

Estrelinah looked up at Kerri curiously. Miss Kerri won't look at me... Did I do something wrong...? She shook her head and spoke quickly, "I... I was wondering if, maybe I can go back to my room? My dad gave me a book of first aid, and I was going to throw some things together, just in case someone gets sick, or hurt."

Skylar thought for a moment and finally said, " Well seeing as how I am completely new here, I can't say what to do but Estrelinah has a good idea but I don't think she should go alone, none of us should go anywhere alone. I will go with you Estrelinah if you want me to and I could help because I have my villages mothers knowledge of herbs and magical remidies." Skylar leaned aganist the wall and awaited an answer from Estrelinah.

"That will be very helpful, Mister Skylar. ^_^ Thank you." Estrelinah stood up from her spot on the floor and dusted herself off. "I actually mess up a few times because I mistake one herb for another, sometimes. o_o; So be sure to correct me, okay? ^_^;;"

"That's a great idea," Kerri said with a bit of an anxious edge to her voice, "but, uh, wouldn't it be better if we all went? I mean, just in case? I just... I really don't think we should split up again. I wouldn't want to put either of you in any more danger than necessary."

"Yes that sounds best, we should all stay together because normally when someone says 'lets split up' something always go's wrong." Skylar said as they began to walk toward the dorm rooms.

When they got to her room, Estrelinah opened the door for everyone. "^_^; I haven't had the chance to completely unpack yet, but the people that brought my things were nice enough to organize everything neatly." She closed the door behind her and took three boxes down from the shelf. When the boxes were opened, they were full of herbs and some medicines that were already made, and a large black book was on the nightstand. She started to flip through, but stopped and blushed. "..." She put the book down and went to another box, and took out a pair of glasses. She put them on and looked at the others, blushing almost every shade of red. "^_^;; I... can't read very well without them... I think that's why I run into things. o_o"

Skylar looked around the room and took in all there was. He liked this room it was spacious and it had a large bed.
"Kerri do you think that when this is all over I could enroll here and get a room this nice?" Skylar asked with a look excitement in his eyes, "I really like this room Estrelinah, it is very peaseful."

Estrelinah blushed. "Thank you, Mister Skylar. At my old school, whenever someone got hurt, they would come to me for help, so I try to keep a pleasant and quiet environment." She picked up one of the boxes and took it to a desk, laying out all the potions that were already made and labeled with it's uses. 'Let's see... Fever, cold, here's some of Dad's all-purpose...' She separated the ones that she thought would be useful from the others, and started putting them into pouches.

Kerri watched Estrelinah with an odd look on her face, the corner of her lips twitching upward the girl put on her glasses. She shook her head just slightly and turned to Skylar. "I'm sure you would have no trouble enrolling," she said, though she seemed much more engrossed by the herbs that Estrelinah was packing up, "you're in luck that it's the beginning of the semester."

Estrelinah nodded slightly. "It would be a little harder to enroll in the middle... At my other schools, if you just came out of no where, everyone labelled you as 'the mysterious transfer student.' Stories would just erupt that you were expelled from another school." She shrugged and smiled. "I guess it's nice for them to be able to think up silly things like that, but then people started asking if I killed someone. o_o;" She looked back and noticed that Kerri was watching her put the herbs in. "^_^; I'm just packing up basics, like colds and fever, and a few that combat poison. That kind of stuff."

"I would like to enroll very much. I think this is the best place in the world. Well where shall we go no." Skylar said and continued to glance around the room. Peaseful just what I need,Skylar thought.
