"Well someone seems to think so, or else the general wouldn't have risked his life to save our butts." She said pulling out would looked like a peice of jerky. She sniffed them took a bite out of it. moved it around in her mouth, shrugged, then offered it to Ko'tahl without looking at him. Then went back to looking for more.
"Well I told the general that I would watch out for you, and I intend to do that. Despite what people might think I do have integrity and loyalty. If the general believes-believed in you, then I believe in you too." She said, finding another peice of jerky and tearing it in half, and handing half of it to the weasely-pagotta.

Ko'tahl took the jerky without a word and chewed it just as quietly. The rodent had mentioned having much to say, but it hadn't 'said' anything in a while. He was beginning to doubt it would at all.

"I could probably go and ctach something, but aren't you the fisherman?" She said jokingly, getting to her feet. "I'm sure I can find a kronie ((Rabbit)) or something edible. The world is full of edible things." With that she got ot her feet grabbed a bit of rope and a knife and marched off into the ((woods?)).

The voice rumbled to life again, despite the fact that the creature it was eminating from was apparently asleep.Ko'tahl, how much do you know of the Cataclysm, the great event that rocked Alent's very foundations and submerged it under water?

Shaking his head slightly, Ko'tahl responded, "Only rumors I've heard from our customers and other merchants. Nothing consistent enough to be believable, though."

The voice continued. Long, long ago, before the dawn of your race...our world was above water. Whole. The five colors of mana balanced each other out, and Alent was a peaceful world. Then the forces of mana went out of control. The five leylines that govern the flow of mana were severed and mana flowed throughout the world, unguided. The seas rose. The mountains burst. The skies broke. The forests all but disappeared. And now...now, the signs point to it happening again.

Leaning in a bit, Ko'tahl said, "What do you men it's going to happen again? Why?"

Liana listened half heartedly. She reached behind the log and found a thick piece of wood. She then pulled out a small dagger form her boot and started to widdle(sp?) away at the piece of wood.

The voice continued. Soothsayers and seers from Orithan have foreseen the devistation that is to come. The five colors of mana are imbalanced. The Sectarians have steved off the trickle of green mana, hoarding it like they do their gold and wares. This one imbalance has lead to the impending destruction of Alent. You have seen the signs yourself - the dying foliage, the Spirespawn, the chaos in the Blasted Lands. All of this is due to the mana imbalance.

"Why would the Sectarians bring about their own deaths, are they immortal or something, or just have a death wish?" Liana said, digging into the stick a little too hard, and slicing off a huge chunck out of anger.

The tiny mammal yawned. The are as mortal as you. Their numbers consist mainly of humans, but they are skilled at...persuading the other races to assist them. As for their reasons, I cannot even begin to fathom it. When we reach the capital, it would be an apt question to ask the Emperor King's wisemen. However...I do suspect it has something to do with the myth of the Mother Tree.

"If you yuh ask me Tails, I wouldn't be askin' no one about nothin', because if you say these Sectarians can persuade people, then who's to say they haven't already persuaded the wisemen to help them. I say we keep our voices down and our eyes open, who knows who's on their side." She said, looking from Ko'tahl to Tails. (She's nicknamed it Tails.)

With a grunt, Ko'tahl added, "And you want us to stop this somehow?"

There is prudence and then there is paranoia, young Liana. Be careful, 'lest you see foes where there are none. As for you, Ko'tahl, all will be explained when you reach Korgard. For now, rest. We have more traveling ahead of us tomorrow.

Liana nodded with respect to what Tails had to say. After he was finished she leaned over toward Ko'tahl casually and whispered.
"Why do I get the feeling that is wasn't Tails talking, but someone else...If you know what I mean." She said, then reached into the bag at her feet as if looking for something.
