"It hasn't?" he asked softly, now staring at her stomach in wonder. "I thought... maybe it had been and I just hadn't noticed before." He chuckled then, moving to stretch out alongside her, one hand resting on her hip. "It means that the arrival is getting closer. Then you won't think you're fat anymore."
And I won't be walking on eggshells to keep you from throttling me.

'I would have said something if it had done so before now.' Aranea poked her belly a little. The baby obviously had realised they were waiting for it to kick again, and so didn't. 'Does it? Have you been reading into pregnancies then...' she looked at herself, his hand resting on her curvy hip. 'I am.' she said, her voice brittle. 'I've started to - to..waddle,' she hissed the word unhappily.

Ah, the great dilemma of expectant fathers....
Feles was torn at the moment. The Cardinal Rule of surviving pregnancy was 'SHE is always right'. Even if she's wrong and you KNOW it, she's still right. It saved much pain in the long run.
However, now Aranea was saying she was fat. According to the Cardinal Rule, he should agree with her, but doing so in this case would ensure that there was never another child with his particular DNA.
The Catch 22's of life were going to get him killed yet.
Finally, he settled on a conclusion.
"You are not fat," he said, moving to rest his cheek on her belly. "You're pregnant, there's a difference. You may be waddling now, but that's just because you're not used to having a baby's worth of weight in front of you. Once the child is born, that will be gone and you'll be able to walk normally again."
He refused to even mention the fact that in most of the books he HAD read, women tended to have more and more difficulty in movement and simple things... such as getting out of chairs or picking things up off the floor. There'd be enough time to soothe those ruffled feathers when they came.

Apparently the baby had a sense of humour, kicking when Feles rested on her belly. Which made Aranea smile, just a tiny bit. 'It's going to be a strong baby at least.' she said, leaving the fat issue on the side for now. She'd b***h about it another time, maybe to one of the female Fey. Or just take it out on another small furry animal...she licked her lips at that thought, but no. She wasn't hungry again yet, not enough to warrant moving off the bed. 'What do you think it will be..boy or girl?'

Feles' ears pinned back into his hair then, and he whispered softly. "A girl." It wasn't a hope, it was a demand, nearly. "It has to be a girl."

She wondered at the sudden mood change; 'Why so fervent about it being a girl? A boy would be a good balance for the Court after all.' Aranea shifted a little on the bed, getting as comfortable as she could. Not that she could imagine any of the Fey she had met being a suitable mate for her children, but that was just her way.

"A daughter will be beautiful and strong, like her mother... an asset to the Moon Court." He tightened his hold on her for a moment then, not even needing to say the rest.
It was obvious, the way his mind was working. A boy, by gender alone, would take after the father, and the last thing the Court needed was another weakling who couldn't stand the light.
"That's how she'll be." His hand splayed on Aranea's stomach then, pale eyes watching the slight vibrations of his hand as the child seemed to enjoy the contact.

Aranea could be just as stubborn as Feles, and she smirked; 'It goes without saying that my daughter would be a beauty,' and she was so modest as well! 'But I would want a son just as much. My Feles..' she reached out and entangled a hand in his hair, carressing the edge of a velvety ear. 'Nothing is set in stone.' she remembered all too well the cruelty of the light when he grew. And the time when they were outside together when he was still a child and the sunlight had struck him. It didnt matter to her that he was like that - and if their child was the same it would matter not still. The baby seemed to be listening to its parents now, replying with vigourous kicking.

"She'll be perfect," he murmured, a low purr rumbling from his throat where it lay against her stomach. He was convinced that this baby HAD to be a girl, and would hear nothing of the contrary at the moment.
The purr seemed to either be extremely fascinating for the unborn child... or it was just something that she wanted to find out more about. The vibrations were matched in the kicking of the baby, and Feles half wondered if he was going to get swatted for making it worse.
Oh well. There were worse things in life.
Grinning almost mischievously, he curled one finger to poke back with his knuckle, not wanting to attempt poking with a claw. One vigorous kick and he'd have Aranea's blood on him... and likely a LONG period of apology afterward.

'Are you teasing your child already?' Aranea asked, watching him poke at her belly. It wasnt hurting, or uncomfortable because she always was that lately...and it was supposed to get bigger before she dropped it. She winced at the thought. There were certainly no complaints about how the baby got in there...but the design for it getting out again wasnt prize-winning. 'Will you be with me during the birth?' she asked, her fingers lightly pinching onto his ear - one false word or move she thought..but no, she wouldnt torture him now. Making him be with her during the labour would be torture enough.

"If I value my life I will be?" He replied, one eye wincing as he smiled up at her. "Of course I'll be there. I was there at the beginning, I need to be there to see it through." He rested his cheek against her stomach then, one hand rubbing over the swell as he purred.

Aranea smiled very sweetly; 'You've got that right. You put it in there..' she let go of his ear and went back to stroking his hair. 'And you can be with me through the entire hell of it coming out...I'll need someone to aim at after all.'

Winding one arm over Aranea's chest, Feles nestled up against her and chuckled. "I can just make sure that there's nothing in range for you to throw. It'll be safer that way, I think." His tail curled up over her waist, the cat taking up one of his few possessive poses.
"We should think of a name for her..."

Aranea stifled a yawn; curled up with her feline lover she felt very slightly relaxed. 'Feh take away my fun why dont you.' she grumbled halfheartedly. 'You are so fixed on it being a girl arent you? And if its a male..and we choose a girly name what then?' she rolled her eyes unseen. 'I wouldnt know what to name it...It's not really to occurred to me to think about naming something I havent seen.'

Feles rolled onto his stomach, moving to drape between Aranea's legs on the bed. His cheek still rested on her stomach, and the feline Fey slid his hands underneath the small of her back. "Well, we can't very well call her 'hey you'," he murmured, fingers beginning to knead at the muscles there and work their way up slong her back.
