 First off, people pair characters with Marlene?! gonk She's 6 years old. Good lord.
Second, it's kind of funny that there's protest about...
... Hojo/Lucrecia- like it or not, something had to have been going on, because they conceived a child together. I don't think it was some fairytale romance, but it's not like they aren't some form of a pairing, even if it was out of necessity.
... Vincent/Lucrecia- he says he loves her, she obviously cared for him, the whole reason he is who he is in FF7 is due to trying to protect her. There's scenes where they were flirting with each other in DOC.
Pairings I dislike-
Vincent/ Yuffie- She's 19. He's about 57 years old. Yuffie is 16 in FF7. Jailbait, anyone? They have interaction in DOC, but I can see no evidence of romance between them. Yuffie is there for comedy relief.
Vincent/Shelke- She's also 19, but has a 10 year old's body. Jailbait comes to mind again. If she was older, there might be potential, but as it stands... no. Plus the fact that she's like a mini-Lucrecia, it just becomes all too weird for me.
Cloud/Sephiroth- WTF? Is all I think. Aside for humorous purposes, I don't even see how this makes any sense whatsoever.

Oh god, people pairing off Marlene. Some sicko on fanfiction.net is writing a fic about Vincent molesting Marlene and it's just... god, it's sickening. Not just because everyone's OOC and it makes no sense, but... it's Marlene! You don't do that to a six-year-old! Vincent wouldn't! D:
I've never understood Yuffie/Vincent. or Cid/Vincent. I don't like either of them- I don't like Yuffie much at all, given that she ruined my first game by stealing my materia when I was massively underleveled and making me restart the game, but she's too young and too hyper and a bit ditzy and just generally immature. Cid and Vincent just come across as more of best friends/drinking buddies. (That, and I love Cid/Shera.)
... I hate Vincent/Lucrecia with a passion, mostly because I hate Lucrecia. :/ She could have chosen to not go through with the experiments, or to stay with Sephiroth, but she chose to turn her child into a lab rat and then ran away from it. :/ Shelke/Vincent is a squick not just because of her age (both physical and chronological), but because she's... well, like another Lucrecia. He doesn't need to suffer through that again, and it wouldn't be fair to Shelke to have to live out another woman's dream life.
Vincent/Reno makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me, seeing as they've never even interacted. Cloud... eh. I'm picky about who gets near the broody gothic one. xD;;; (See my signature for my opinion on that.)
Otherwise, I don't really care about pairings. 8D

Minor DOC spoilers about Lucrecia, Sephiroth, and the experiment (highlight to read)- ** Hojo essentially took Sephiroth away as soon as he was born. Lucrecia wanted to see/stay with Sephiroth- in FF7 she calls him, "my dear child" and says she never got to hold him, and in DOC there's a flashback where she's hysterically screaming, "I want to see [Sephiroth], just once".** DOC really screwed up the Vincent/Lucrecia story. Again, in a strange way, they are an 'official' pairing... but the way they depicted it was extremely awkward, and it makes very little sense as to why Vincent loves her enough to go through what he did.
