::Myyth walked over to the pit with Spirith and set her on the ground a few feet away::
"Um Spirith dear, I really don't want to explain this, but do get what your suposed to do over here?"
"I do." ::walks over::
A few minutes later.........
::Myyth is washing off a protesting Spirith in the Lake::
"Dear this isn't going to kill you, and you'll feel better afterwards"
"I'm wet all over, how can this be a good thing?" ::splashes a bit, but stays gloomy::
"You'll feel better when we have you out and oiled. Do you itch anywhere?"
"A bit, on my tummy and side"
"The oil will fix that"
::Myyth started at gather up the brushes she'd used to wash the little dragon off. It hadn't taken as long as she thought it might::
"Spirith do you want to go for a swim now?................Spirith?"
::Myyth looked around and saw her dragon had decided a swim would be fun after all, and had snuck off while she'd been putting the brushes on the beach.::
"Guess that anwsers that". ::She thought as she watched the tiny green paddle around the lake::

Arriving at the lake, B'ryan and Iavoth listened attentively to the lecture. Now, do you understand what you need to do? B'ryan asked the bronze as they followed the weyrlingmaster to the pits.
Of course I do, Iavoth responded with a snort. I listened too, you know.
They approached the pits, and minutes later followed the rest of the class back over to the lake. Time for your first bath, pal. He let the dragon wade into the water as he collected a brush and a pot of oil. Leaving the oil where it would be handy later, B'ryan turned and laughed. Iavoth was stretching out, wings spread over the surface of the lake. Are you having fun floating out there?
Lots! The bronze bugled happily... and then in alarm as the sudden movement caused him to lose his balance and roll over. He rolled twice to the left before somehow ending right-side up again, and the dragon quickly spread his wings over the water's surface again to resume his imitation of a piece of bronze driftwood.

About to leave for a well needed nap, Tolara stopped as the weyrwoman rushed into the hall. Calling out she strode over. "Weyrwoman! May I have a word?"

((alright it's been a couple days real time so i'm ganna make a guess that the lesson is over))
T'thia watched as the wyrelings washed and oiled their dragonets. she grinned as Arizath bugled for the end of the lesson
"verry good young ones, be sure to wash and oil your dragonet's often. remember when their young their hides are groing and can easily become patchy. when they get older they won't need oiling as often but it's still just as important."
T'thia gathered the empty oil pots, the brushes and rags and headed towards the lower caverns to deposit them with the drudges. Arizath met her outside the lower caverns.
care for a flight mine?
the girl smiled at her dragon softley and lovingly
"you read my mind dear heart"
she clambered to the large bronzes neck ridge and looked around last thing she need was someone to see her flieing without her straps. but it was only around the wyre, a small flight before an afternoon nap. Arizath made his famouse launch and turned on wingtip to head off around the wyre. T'thia looked down at the wyre that seamed to become tiny as it dropped away from them below. Arizath flew for about half an hour before he was content that his wings had been thuroughly excersised. he landed on his ledge where he slept since he was too big for the wyreling barracks.
I hope we get our last lesson and get our own wyre before it gets colder, it'd be terribly cold sleeping out here
"i know love i know, i hope we become full fledged riders soon too. we've been behind on lessons we should have been out before the new batch of wyrelings came in but i'm sure we'll get between soon"
T'thia gave Arizath a hug before sleepily heading off towards the barracks. she entered and was relieved that her cot had been moved to the verry front since she was the closest to leaving the barracks soon out of the other new wyrelings. she crawled under the furs and drifted into sleep thinking of how she would go around asking Rayi about their last lesson

((gaaaaah! sorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorry!))
R'nek leads Famyroth away from the Weyr and up towards the lake, feeding him bits of meat as they go. Gently he reaches down and strokes Roth's silky brown hide, feeling utterly content. If only we could stay like this, hey Roth?
But we cannot stay like this, Mine. We must learn to fly, and to fight Thread.
I know... but... his thoughts trailed off as they reached the lake. Standing apart from the others, R'nek listens in silence to the Weyrlingmaster's instructions. Guiding his awkward dragonet towards the pit, 'Roth releives himself without a word.
Back up at the lake, the young man gently scrubs his dragonet's hide clean, hardly heeding the splashing of the others around him. First out of the water, he rubs oil into Famyroth's hide and smiles as he is dismissed.
That was good, Mine. It feels nice to be oiled.
Well I'll just have to oil you often then.
Famyroth butted his rider's leg, crooning softly as they headed back to the barracks.

I would like an oiling as well. Wrath carefully nudges Ray's back, nearly staggering the girl.
"Fine fine," Ray tells the greenish queen, and reaches for one of the spare oilpots. "You're dried off now, aren't you?"
Of course.
Ray coughs, and turns to the Weyrlings. It seems some of them must have had training of this sort--perhaps they had cared for fire lizards at some point? She shrugged, and addressed those who'd finished their baths.
"To oil a dragon, you should wait until after they're mostly dry after a bath. If the dragon is sopping wet, the oil doesn't get as absorbed as well as it should be. Pay extra attention to any spots that your dragon has said are 'itchy.' Itchy spots are where your dragon's hide is stretching the fastest as he or she grows, and as you may have noticed, your dragons are growing fast. At this stage, and probably for the first month or so, you must be sure to oil your dragon completely every day, and give them an extra dab of oil on the itchy spots before bed.
"If you've ever had to help with a fire lizard, you'll notice that they don't grow nearly as fast as dragons, but still have itchy complaints from time to time. Oil is essential to dragon health. Wild flits often fish for the more oily sea dwellers, and roll around in their kill to oil themselves, but often wild ones don't grow nearly as quickly as tame ones. Wild ones, after all, have to fend for themselves, and don't get stuffed with as much food as they can hold by doting humans." Ray grins wryly.
"Anyhow, all there is to it is dip your soft cloth in the oil pot and rub it on your dragon. You will easily noticed missed spots as they will not shine as much as the oiled spots--and your dragon will often point out areas you overlooked. Take extra care with their claw sheaths, and don't forget to oil their talons.
"After oiling, at this age your dragon will probably drop right off into sleep. In fact, at any age, a dragon will be delighted to be oiled and then nap, though older ones will tend to fly to their weyr ledges or the heights for sunning." Wrath nudged her rider again.
I'm almost dry now!
"And now, I think I'd better get to oiling my dragon, before she pushes me off my feet!" Ray set to her task vigorously; Wrath was a lot of dragon to oil!

Dripping wet, the green and her rider waded back to shore. "Ready to be oiled?" I think so, Aireth replied as she headed for the place where Feather had left their things. Just as Feather started reaching for the pot of oil, however, Ray approached the weyrlings again, and the green pair listened as it was explained that a dragon should be pretty dry before an oiling. Oh! I guess this means I have to wait. The dragon sighed, and sat in the sand by the lake with her wings half open, waiting for the sun to dry her so she could find out what it was like to be oiled...

As the green flit finished the last of her breakfast, Ava became aware of Faith's awakening presence. Good morning, Faith.
Good morning, the dragon answered. Through their link, Ava could sense the gold yawning and stretching on her stone couch.
Hungry yet? she asked as she sent Chime off to find a sunny place for a nap.
I would like to eat something, her dragon replied.
Stepping out into the bright sun, Ava walked back to the barracks. Entering, she opened the door wider to allow the queen to exit.

Quickly she gestured Beriadi to a nearby table, seating herself with a sigh of relief. "I hope you got my note," Tolara opened without preamble. A arched eyebrow and a questioning note in her voice invited a response.

::Myyth sits on the beach watching her dragon sit in the sun after she'd been swimming. "Almost dry little one?" she asked her dragon, who was half asleep in the sun."I am dry. I itch, on my back and wings." 'The oil should help that," she said, "here come sit by me and we'll get started." Spirith moved over to sit next to Myyth.
A few minutes of oiling later......... "Does that feel better?" Myyth asked."Your done so soon?" Spirith said regretfully, as she spread her wings in the sun. "There isn't that much of you to oil, after all." Myyth said ruefully, watching Rayinte oil her much larger dargon."I'm hungery, and tired." Spirith protested after a minute. With a smile Myyth repiled "Arn't you always?" before she got to her feet and started to walk back to the weyr.

I itch, Aireth complained suddenly. "You do? Hmm, it's no wonder, since you're almost dry now... and considering how much breakfast you had." Feather grabbed the oil. Removing the lid, she dipped the soft cloth in and began to spread it over her dragon's itchy hide. I was hungry. Oooohh... The green crooned as the oil soothed a particular spot on her back. Smiling at the green's response, Feather continued working on her friend's comfort.

I'rus..." she flushes alittle and gives a soft, sad sigh, "has desided to stay at High Reaches. I've been trying to convince him to come and be Weyrleader..."

Tolara nodded. She had never met this I'rus but from the sounds of it he was the weyrwomans weyrmate. It was odd how often life was throwing it in her face lately. A flight and an errant weyrmate. Shaking her head Tolara continued to repeat, word for word what was in her note.
"I'm not sure how much you've had a chance to look over things at Benden, or even if this affects Benden. As I'm sure you've heard we had a bit of trouble at the Hatching. Unfortunatly it's nothing new. Most of the riders haven't had a chance to encounter the...attitude...that just occured. This partly stems from the slight famine that has been going on. It's nothing bad yet, but people are starting to grumble that we, Fort, have been taking too much. The weryleader had only got the report in before Threadfall, so there hasn't been much time to plan out what to do. I thought I'd warn you though. Tempers are running high and we need to be very careful. Please check your records and send a reply back if this seems to be the trend in Benden as well.
There's a few other things we might need to talk about once you get a chance to look through Benden's records. If you need me just send a message allright?"
