[So sorry, I've been grounded and am allowed on for now to e-mail my German friend. Right. Here is my post though, it had also been sent to Immortal earlier by a dear friend of mine. >w< We're neighbors in real life, she doesn't want any online friends. She's weird. XD]

The gryphon sentry clucks softly to see that the previously running woman is someone familiar to the Patroness. A light breeze ruffles the femme griffin’s wings and she slowly turns her head to watch some deckhands leave. Circling the sails above are a few seagulls, calling out as they scavenge and lounge in the air. Some sort of noise disturbs the tranquil moment. Luft tilts her head to see a female human boarding the ship! Her neck feathers stick out slightly and her tail stiffens its feathers. With a hiss, the gray beast slowly ventures over to the human and looks her straight in the eyes. Keeping her wings folded back and her eyelids lowered slightly, Luft implies that she is calm at this second; but it also shows that she will change that very suddenly. Her large, dark brown eyes glance at something held in the human’s hand before staring back into the young woman’s eyes.
“That bit of parchment is evidence that you are allowed on this ship, I hope.”

The hertasi, satisfied with his finished work, slides off of his lower bunk bed and stretches slowly. First his stiff arms reached back towards his tail, rotating the shoulders also helped to loosen the limbs. Leaning his scaled form forward, Gesten pushes his tail out to expand his lower back muscles. Sighing in contentment he straightens up and walks out of the bunkroom. Gliding into the hall, his long-toed clawed feet step up the short stairs to bring the owner on deck. Salt, gryphon, human, and the scent of wood blast into his keen nostrils. The hertasi blinks his yellow eyes due to the sudden bright flare of the sun. He is disheartened to see Luft confronting a young human, but is proud that the griffin is so serious of her duties. Gesten walks over and places a clawed hand on the large creature’s feathered shoulder, looking to the human and nodding slightly. “G’day, mi’lady. If that is your invitation, I’d be glad to try and help you around the Seraphim. Please excuse my feathered friend, she’s a bit edgy around strangers.”

Rhiannon let a soft giggle spill from her throat. She couldn't believe she was acting like this... as if they were still teenagers with no weightier concerns than training in her father's courts and spending time within the luxirious manor her parents possessed. Still, despite her desire to keep up appearances, she let her life-long friend pull her through the crowd toward the booths of the square.

"Nerissa, if you only knew! Nobles are the most humorless, moneysucking bags of uselessness I've ever met. Atleast, most of them. Mind you, a couple are very young and very handsome, but just as villanous underneath as the others."

She hid a smile as they jostled about and pulled Nerissa to a rustic stand displaying a variety of swords and knives. There was a gleam in her eye as she reached for a dagger encrusted with blue diamonds and examined it.

"If you were wondering, I would prefer a scandalous, adventurous, carefree sailor to any one of them." she grinned slyly and put the dagger down.

"They are fake of course," she said with mock disappointment and indifference. "Oh well, shall we move on?"

"Hey Hey hey! No, how dare you say these are fake, missy?" the merchant complained and picked it up, waving the cheaply made weapon in her face. "I get 'em for premium price from very respect-ible merches."

She raised an eyebrow. "I know those are fake, sir, because these are not." Rhi deftly twisted her wrist and flipped her own dagger, hilt first, before the man. It was obviously an infinitely finer make than the imposter he tried to sell, with gorgeous blue diamonds glittering on it's pommel. She smirked and flipped the blade back into the folds of her coat where it hid.

"Good day, sir." she said firmly and turned away. She glanced at Nerissa, anticipating her thoughts. "Anyways, where were we Iss? Oh yes, sailors."

May watches the grphon move towards her. She hears the hiss and sees the warning signs but she knows the creature is calm. Then she say the hertasi aproach too.

"It is indead my invitation." May said calmly and smiled at the gryphon. She turned the paper for the gryphon to read. "I'm sure that I wont stay a stranger for long." She spoke to the gryphon not to the lizard-like man. "I've heard much about gryphons, I would love to learn more, exspecial from one." She smiled more trying to hold in a little of her excitment. She turned to the hertasi. "Thank you. I believe I will need the help. If you will excuse me for one moment though." With that she slipped away to railing of the boat. She stared down at her father and waved. He waved back and pointed to the small trunk beside him. May felt her cheeks going red as she ran of the boat and picked up the truck.

"Good bye papa!" She said before she turned. Then she was back upon the boat. She waved one last time to him... it felt so werid. Then she turned to the Hertasi and Gryphon. "My name's Mylene Quspa. You can just call me May though."

((And now, after an indeterminable amount of months, weeks, and days, I've finally found the ability to come back around to Gaia. Sorry for the most extreme of delays. Is everyone okay with me holding captainship?))

Captain Zeiser listened quietly as his head cook commented on the lavish style of his room as compared to all of the others. It was indeed much better, but that was to be expected of the captain's quarters. As for the voices...

"The voices were due to the weakening of one of the older and much more important magicks cast within the main mast. One of our leading mages took care of the matter, and we are now certain that the markings on the wall were the doings of a someone trying to plant the seeds of uncertainty and rebellion in the crew. Whoever he is, he's a very skilled craftsman." He gave a bow of his head. "Now if you'll excuse me, Brakus, I need to go make sure the night shifts are being appropriately attended. After all that's happened, they may still be restless."

--------------------(Moving to the present now)

As the sun had risen, Zeiser stood firmly at the upper deck, watching as his pilot pulled the ship into the harbor with the utmost skill. Despite ships approaching from three other sides, he still managed to calmly maneuver right into port without breaking a sweat. This ship truly was manned with the elite. The Captain gave the man an acknowledging nod before making his way down to the main deck and presenting orders to the dawn shift crew to collect such and such supplies as needed. There wasn't much in need, so those that did work had little that needed to be done.

He moved next to the gangplank of the Seraphim and watched over the railing as the man passengers and crew members came and went. Then, a new arrival came, and was quickly intercepted by the Gryphon sentry and a hertasi, the latter of whom Zeiser had not previously noticed. He made it a point in his mind to approach the lizardman sometime in the near future for a brief exchange. For now, though, He wished to know who exactly the passenger was. He did overhear her name as he approached from behind the girl. "May, then," he called, announcing his presence, "Might I ask what exactly you'll be doing aboard this ship?" He stood a few steps from her, beckoning to be handed the invitation. "I'll take that as well, if you aren't too partial to it."

After a bit of discussion and glasses of scotch, Seamus and his cousin Jamie went to business. Seamus talking about the specifics of the swords he was making when he caught sight of one of the weapons hanging on the wall. "What the hell is this doin' here?" He called to Jamie. "I sent this two months ago and I ken that it was a special order." Jamie stood up and went to the weapon in question. "The buyer croaked tae days before it came here. Poor lad died of the grips. The family dinna want it so I refunded the money." Jamie said. At this point he stood up and lifted the weapon, which was a battle axe. He looked at the price. "A hundred gold pieces? That's a wee bit too much Jamie. The original buyer only paid sixty-two gold pieces." He said. "Aye, he did. But I'm tryin' to make a living here and with Jenny wit' child I have to pull in some more money." At this point, he was waving his free hand in the air. "Fine, fine, fine. It does'n matter as long as I get my share of the profit from it. "Jamie nodded as he said this. "Aye, and you will. So don't fret over it." Jamie said.

(eek! Sorry for not posting!)

Lila was enjoying the book she had read that she decided to buy it. It was a book about the legendary continent of Peregre, on which she was travelling to aboard the Seraphim. Dutifully, she gave the shopkeeper some coins to pay for it.

Lila decided to look around the market for some sweets, as she knew that she would be deprived of them for awhile. She found a jar of preserved berries and a bunch of grapes. When she was walking away, she decided to have one of the grapes. It was so good that she started to hum out loud, unrestricted. "Oh s**t," she said when she noticed every man in the market was looking at her.

Lila ran back to the Seraphim, where a girl of some age was speaking to the captain.

((sorry for not posting.))

May looked at the man who had just come and was about to say a snappy reply when she looked again.

"I'm going to be helping the cook." May said polietly and handed the invitation rather unwillingly to him. "You are Capitan Zeiser, yes?" May smiled and curtised slightly.

"This is a fine ship don't you think?" She turned back to the gyphon and hertasi. "And from what I have seen so far it looks like a fine crew too."

He received the invitation calmly and looked it over until she said his name. Her speaking it piqued his curiosity. "Yes I am, but where did you hear my name?" It was quite important to him that he found out who was blatantly speaking his name without a care in the world. So far, he had been addressed merely as Captain, with a rare 'Zeiser' in between. It didn't seem very likely to him that a random member of the crew would go about preaching his name, and since this woman had never been aboard before, there was no chance that any of the vital members had shared it either. He held the invitation back to her while listening to the conversation and also expecting an answer to his own question.

May took the invitation and still smiling. "My father went search for as much information as he could find about this ship and it's voyage. You see he's been very wary of the sea and all that has to do with it since I was five." She smiled. "I simply assumed many people would know the name of the captain of the Seraphim. I may have been wrong." She felt the wind blow a little and felt her curls bounce a little in it. She was glad her curls came natural for her hair would be hard to take care of on the boat, she knew much about the sea and loved stories about sailors. She couldn't wait until they set sail.

"It seems that your father has many outlets for information then," he answered, "As you are the first to know my name before boarding the ship. It makes me curious as to how word got out." He shook his head. "No matter. It's good to have another master of the culinary arts on board. I was beginning to worry there would be little help for our dwarf-friend." He gave a bow of his head. "I hope you enjoy your stay aboard the Seraphim." And with that, he strode away to continue overseeing the collection of food and supplies.

The gryphon sentry shrewdly examines the turned paper as though it might've been forged and feels a sense of pride to hear that the young human is eager to discover more about gryphons. As the girl goes back down to gather a trunk, Luft tilts her head to glance at her friend's sleeve.
"I see you were able to patch it up. There is a loose string though, you are getting lazy old lizard."
The reply is a typical hertasi-scolding action. After May has given her name, Captain Zeiser approaches to interact. The presence of the Captain made both griffin and hertasi check over themselves. They did not want to embarrass him nor be rude and interject in the humans' conversation. Once it was mentioned that both ship and crew are impressive, Luft puffs up her feathers slightly with her head kept up. A rather snide yet silent remark from Gesten makes her "smile", the edges of skin around the corner of her beak move slightly to perform this expression. Since the Captain has accepted the young woman, it was safe to relax. Giving a slight croon of respect as Captain Zeiser excuses himself, Luft looks to May.
"Welcome to this ivory ship May, I am Luft Himmel. Aside from bells, sailors, and orders, it'll be common to hear me screeching."
Deciding to remain on duty, the gray gryphon returns to her stiff post on the upper deck. She does keep a playful eye on the hertasi though, waiting to suddenly fly at him when the little green fellow starts to lift crates of goods.

Gesten smiles kindly to the female human and chuckles as she must return to her sire to grab a forgotten trunk. Hearing his friend's comment, the hertasi whips her side with his powerful tail. It is usually a motion used to knock over misbehaved hatchlings, but it works on gryphons too. It works on any being with skin for that matter, although Luft's feathers dull the sting. The hertasi rolls his eyes as the femme griffin puffs up her feathers from the compliment.
"Vain pigeon." he whispers to her, but very softly so as to not disturb the Captain and human girl.
Giving a kind nod to May, the hertasi gave her some information.
"I'm afraid I cannot help you take anything, I am bound by custom to examine any missed work onboard. You can find the cook's quarters over there though, I am sure he'll appoint you to a suitable room. Oh yes, my name is Gesten. It has been a pleasure to greet you May, perhaps we can find each other again at dinner."
With a short bow, the lizard humanoid scuttles to the masts and pulls lightly on the ropes to check them.

"Thank you." May said to the captain as he began to leave. She smiled but she didn't like him much. Respect him May. He's the captain, you make him mad and he can kick you off. It dosen't matter what he does... don't get into trouble. May wondered if she should have told him about the healing magic she was good at. She shrugged it off knowing she would tell him later. The cook was a dwarf. That surprised her. She knew the stero-type of drawfs always drink beer and she wondered if it was true.

May had grown up only knowing humans, it was strange to her to see so many different species here. Her father had always tried to keep her away from other races, when she'd asked why he said he didn't want her to get hurt. She wondered why she'd get hurt, here they all seemed so nice.

"It's nice to meet you Luft." She smiled as she watched Luft fly off to return to duty.

"Perhaps we can, Gesten." She watched him hurry up the last and then began to walk to the door he had pointed at. Her hand curled into a soft fist and she knocked loudly on the cook's quarters.

(( Heya everyone! I'm so glad some people have decided to stick with us! You are all wonderful and amazing and thank you so much! ^___^ Sorry it's going so slow, but I am going to try harder to get things going. I hear that a little plot is going to go on soon, so I encourage everyone to get involved in some way.

I am going to be gone from the 23rd to the 5th of January. Holidays! I don't think I'll get near any computers, but in case I do, I'll be sure to pop in and check on you all. Sorry for the short notice. = Please, keep going in my absence (since it probably won't make much difference) and when I come back I promise things will get interesting. That is, if you don't make it interesting first! Ahaha!

Anyways, everyone enjoy the holiday break!

"Ugh... why did we have to stop here at all?" Rosette rgowled irritably as she walked. "I mean, if this whole trip was so important you think they would have packed better for it... Now I'm lost... Sometimes I just hate new places!"

Of course, that nagging feeling in the back of her mind that she'd actually been here before and simply forgot only pissed her off even more. She looked around her, her hand shielding the bright sun from her eyes as she looked for a sign of a tall ship mast or something that would lead her back to the port. No such luck.

"Ugh, stupid tall buildings."

Rosette glanced around for a shop that wasn't quit that crowded to go in and ask for directions. Today she didn't feel like standing in a line for nothing.

"Excuse me?" She said, opening the door slightly. "Hello, is someone here?"
