Pell Who is the 'him' that you all were talking about? I didn't get who it was. Sox, now known as Polarity. But he's underage, so don't go getting ideas, old man. You either, Jo.

If you think it's time to tell me not to get ideas, then ideas have already been got. Or gotten. Or even masticulated. Or matriculated. Yes, the ideas have graduated from highschool and are now collegic level ideas. Or something....

-insert lots of monster growling here-
Right now, I am literally SHAKING with how angry I am.
I think if I don't see somebody crying today, I am going to go ballistic.
I'll probably end up skipping class again.
Damnit. =\
And This semester was going SO WELL.

Okay, I'd like to discuss hugs. And to do that. Is this nifty IMing conversation Invisible Monsters(TrippyTikyTavy) and I (SQ) had on MSN.
---
SQ™- Reformat says: And the only reason I don't like being hugged in the Gay guild is because... I think of everyone has my big extended family and friends, there. So I know they really care when they hug me, and aren't just joking. And, I don't know why. But I've got this thing in my head that just goes "click" whenever someone I care about hugs me... It makes me feel all... Weirded out. SQ™- Reformat says: And if they smother me in a hug... It goes from a shaky "please stop" nonverbal look to "Get off me or I'll kill you" type of thing. =\ TrippyTikkyTavvy says: you sound like JD. SQ™- Reformat says: And on the other hand, I get all weirded out when *I* hug somebody. SQ™- Reformat says: But not if it's people I don't care about. Because then I just don't care. =\ SQ™- Reformat says: Really? How does he deal with it? =\ TrippyTikkyTavvy says: it depends on the person. TrippyTikkyTavvy says: he tolerates it from me and crafty. TrippyTikkyTavvy says: everyone else is lucky to get a warning. SQ™- Reformat says: Well he seems fine with everything past hugging. With the sex and the kissing and whatnot. =\ TrippyTikkyTavvy says: kind of. SQ™- Reformat says: So far, the only person I've been able to hug without feeling funny that I cared about was my fiance. And I haven't seen him in over a year. SQ™- Reformat says: It felt so good though... I really wish it could feel that good all the time... But instead I get stuck with the defenseless feeling... SQ™- Reformat says: Sometimes I really hate my head. TrippyTikkyTavvy says: are you afraid of admitting that you care about someone? SQ™- Reformat says: I don't know. Maybe. SQ™- Reformat says: I don't see why I would be afraid. TrippyTikkyTavvy says: hold on, JD wrote something about that, let me see if I can find it. SQ™- Reformat says: Why would he write something about that? TrippyTikkyTavvy says: it was the note he left me. SQ™- Reformat says: ......... TrippyTikkyTavvy says: Love is slavery. When you admit to loving someone, you might as well say, "I want you to ******** me up". I can't do that and I'm sorry. SQ™- Reformat says: ...... SQ™- Reformat says: I don't get it. TrippyTikkyTavvy says: he basically believes that admitting to care about someone puts them in control. SQ™- Reformat says: I don't see how that relates to the hug thing. =\ TrippyTikkyTavvy says: a hug is usually something that people who care for one another do. I wouldn't hug someone if I didn't care, actually. TrippyTikkyTavvy says: if you hug back or allow them hug you, you are letting them know that you care in return.
---
It seems like he explained the whole thing, but I am still confused as to why I am this way. Sometimes, I really hate my brain. x.o

*looks at you with hugging-intent, but refrains* You can change that. I don't know how you can, but I know I have, and consequently, I know it's possible.

Yeah, I don't know how that works.
It's like a normal reaction for me. You know... Like going to the bathroom.
You can't just not go. =\

[Q] Yeah, I don't know how that works. It's like a normal reaction for me. You know... Like going to the bathroom. You can't just not go. =\ There is a major difference between a reaction and a biological process that has taken hundreds of millions of years to evolve. A reaction is a behavior that has become automated due to either repetition or a biological initiative to protect the organism from damage. Just as a small parakeet can be taught not to be afraid of the hand that refills its bowl, a human being may teach himself to correct the automated behavioral response that he or she has created to deal with a certain fear or has simply allowed himself to become conditioned with. Every "normal reaction" is less "normal" than "reaction." And since a reaction is merely a response to an action, then that response can be changed, if one wants to. If you don't, that's your choice, but I can assure you that it will not make you happier to keep it. And, Q, I speak from very real and personal experience. You don't even realize how similar I have been to you.

You just made it a lot more complicated than it is.
I don't know how to train said parakeet. =\

[Q] You just made it a lot more complicated than it is. I don't know how to train said parakeet. =\ Well, I didn't say it was easy. I just said it was possible. One of the easiest methods to try is to feel the discomfort and to go around hugging people. The problem with that is that it either fixes your automated response, or crashes your entire module and makes you go mad. I made that mistake four years ago, and it took me three to fix it. sad

Yeah... That risk factor is just... A little too risky...
Besides, It wouldn't make hugs feel better, it would make me take them for granted and not cherish them. =\

[Q] Yeah... That risk factor is just... A little too risky... Besides, It wouldn't make hugs feel better, it would make me take them for granted and not cherish them. =\ Maybe that is your natural response...
For me, I love to go around and hug people. Sadly, not complete strangers... but people who I meet that instant I will give a hug to. I am an affectionate person and that is my natural response...
Everyone is different! That is a good thing. These automated and natural responses... developed through our experiences, our interactions, our daily lives... these things allow us to become us... always changing... always creating newer parts to ourselves...
