:::how do you describe food??:::
Well...we eat solid blocks of appropriate levels of amino acids, vitamins, and carbohydrates. It's a very solid texture, comparitively. Room temperature, and dry as well. Tasteless.

So ... you eat the futuristic equivalent of cardboard?

:::The obvious question here was "What is cardboard?" But the look on her face said it all...she didn't even bother asking. She just blinked, and after a moment of contemplation decided...:::
It served it's purpose quite completely. :::She shrugged slightly:::

*Well no wonder she didn't like the pizza. If she'd been eating jenga blocks for dinner all her life. She had a better chance of eating the box than the pizza.*
*Luke shakes his head and studies the menu once more.* Alright, Slim... I don't think they serve wood chips here - but we'll find you something...
*Alright something less hardcore than pizza....*

:::Cora is still trying not to inhale too much of the smell in the place...it's so greasy, but she hardly knows that. She sort of rubs her wrists nervously, and wonders what in the world Luke is going to come up with. It was alright though...she'd nearly lost her appitite as it was:::

*Luke's still looking over the menu ... ravilois.... subs ... cheesesteaks ... stombolis... when he glances up and asks.*
They started making food that way because that's what was most practical, right?

Oh! Most certainly. :::She said without a doubt::: It is by far the most efficient form of nutrient intake. It contains all the essentials for an individually based diet. After every few months, each person is reassed and their particular diets altered depending on what they're body requires.
:::It felt good to know exactly what she was talking about:::

And everyone's okay with this, huh?

Why wouldn't they be?

Don't they get tired of eating the same crap every day?

:::She didn't understand what he meant:::
Why would eating make them tired? And I just told you, it's not the same. It changes depending on what your body needs.
:::Her tummy groweled ever so quietly. Her head wasn't much concerned with food, but her stomach, apparently, was the louder of the two:::

Well, it's quite simple. A full biological diagnostic is performed, mostly concerning blood composition, muscle mass, and cellular chemical tracing. From this we can assess what a specimine requires to sustain optimal human function.

:::She wondered what part of it Luke didn't understand:::
Our own bodies divulge the information about what it needs...simply through analysis.
