Lucille-Skye stepped in timidly, her journal clutched to the side and a feathery quill-pen tucked behind her left ear. She had to stifle a gasp as she laid eyes on the huge library. Looking around numbly, she slowly walked to one aisle and scanned the books. After a few seconds, she took the key from around her neck and unocked the lock on her journal, removed the quill-style fountain pen from behind her ear, and scratched the title, author, and basic storyline onto an empty page. She did this to at least one-fourth the aisles on the main floor, taking down all the titles and authors of the books she thought looked interesting. When she was done, she took a seat at one of the empty tables and re-read the list she'd made, checking off the books she'd most like to read. Julia had said she could get five this trip, then another five next trip, so she had to make sure she got the best ones in case they were checked out next time around.

Joy walked into the library quietly, seeming not to notice anyone. She brushed a lock of white-ish hair behind her elven ear and walked down the isles. Her soft green eyes were, as usual, empty of any emotion whatsoever. She held a large purple book to her chest, with a single gold chinese character on the cover. Her journal. Her eyes darted from left to right.

Lucy tried her best to close the journal quietly and lock it, but in such a large, silent room everything seemed ten times louder than it should. The mechanisms as the lock snapped together clicked abnoxiously, making Lucy flinch and scramble behind the first stack of for the first book on the list she'd made. Calmly sliding it from the shelf, she held it against her hip with her journal then moved on. She pulled a second book from the shelf, then the third, then fourth, but couldn't decide between the fifth and sixth. The only reason Julia had limited her to five books was because she was afraid Lucy wouldn't be able to read more in a week- but what was one more book? Smiling, she picked both books off the shelf and shifted the pile. The top book slid and fell to the floor with a loud thud and as Lucy bent down to retrieve it all but her journal, which was clutched tightly in her hand, followed after it.

Kiniko strolls into the library, his boots thunking on the carpet. He doesn't seem to care much about making noise. Still thunking, he climbs one of the ladders leaning against the shelves and climbs back down with a book with a clock on the cover, and Terry Pratchett written above the clock, Thief of Time written under it. He sits on the floor, curled up, leaning against the wall. He begins to read, smiling slightly, and after a minute or so, looks up. He frowns a bit at the other Lolitas. To him, they look so... extraordinary! Sparkly and winged and pointy-eared, in elaborate outfits. He brushes a bit of imagined dust off his blue tunic and begins reading again.

Lucy yawned and scrambled the books back into her arms. Walking gingerly to the nearest table, she slid them safely onto the flat surface and let out a relieved sigh before slumping down in her chair. Maybe she shouldn't have chosen such large books- no wonder Julia had limited her to only five for a week. They didn't have much money and library fines would be an unecessary fun, and if they were returned before Lucille finished reading them, Lucy would get really angry and upset at Julia for rushing her.

Could it be that guardians really did know best?

She shrugged and scooped her six large books into a neat pile, picked the first one off the top and started reading.

Joy looked up at a book of poetry. She was a little under average in height, though tall for a drow, so she couldn't reach it. She looked around, saw a ladder, and smiled--well, actually the sides of her mouth just twitched--, bringing it over. She climbed the ladder and grabbed the book. Turned out, it was a little harder to pull out than it should have been, especially when she was using one hand and it had no space. Frowning, she pulled back with extreme force. It came out, but she also pulled a bit too hard, because it caused most of her weight to move backwards, and so did the ladder. Timber! On the floor, she pushed the ladder off of herself and scrambled to her feet, clutching her purple book (her journal) and her poetry book. A soft shade of pink stained her dark cheeks, which looked rather odd. She looked around at the other lolitas, aware that she had created more than enough noise.

Her eyes fluttered out of concentration as Lucy heard the crash from around the corner. Looking around, she closed her book and got up from her seat. Curiosity had always been a problematic feature in her personality- it'd gotten her into enough trouble, but she never learned from those mistakes. Maybe, deep down, she enjoyed being curious. It gave her a little quirk, made her interesting and less mousy or dull. Lucy shrugged and turned the corner to see the drow. Judging by the fallen ladder, she would have to say that this was the source of the noise.

"Are you okay?" She asked timidly. She didn't expect much of an answer- she was used to people not being friendly around her. It was the reason why she moved in with Julia. She just didn't get along with the people in her old home.

A pair of eyes flicked up at the girl before Joy. A human. Apparently a compassionate human who liked to read. She stood and stared at the floor. "Yes, I am okay. Thank you for asking," she said in her usual quiet, shy tone. She looked up at the girl with a lifeless expression. She did not say, "I'm Joy" or "What's your name," but not because she was trying to be rude. This was just her. She did not ask questions. She kept to herself. She did not want to make a reputation. White hair fell over her face. She clutched her book and journal to her chest, as if they gave her some sense of security.

Lucy nodded, her eyes flicking to the poetry book in the girl's hands. "You like poetry?" she asked with a flare of interest. "I have five or six poetry books on my list. Most of the other stuff is fiction or realistic fiction. There are a few things on art, music, and stuff like that. I think-" suddenly she stopped and blushed, looking at her feet and brushing her choppy dark hair behind her ear. "I'm sorry, I'm rambling. I-uh.. I'm glad you're okay. I have to go now." And she inched backwards to her seat, where she opened her book and lost interest in the rest of the world again.

Joy blinked several times, before following the girl and taking a seat across from her. She rather liked this girl. She was kind, and happened to be Joy's first human "friend." Well not exactly a friend, but still a person who was willing to talk to her. Joy stared at the cover of her book for a moment, opened it, and began to read. Somewhere along the line, she said, "I've never read a fiction book. I like poetry because it's like music. I like music" rather quietly.

Charlotte walked in and shook the water off her powder pink parrisole. After checking her hair was okay she timidly took her step in the library. She was trying to decide where to look for some books about plants,as her garden was dying slowly in the harsh wheather.
you'd think they have some kind of sorting arrangement. she mumbled to herself.hearing voices up ahead somwhere she hurred towards their source.

Confused at not finding anyone she walked amongst the may rows of books. wondering where to go and what to do. she ran her small fingers along the books carfully. She peered at some of the books on the opposite shelf and read the titles. 'latin-the ancient language and it's many mysteries.' unsure of what to think of this she walked along further into the library. Her footsteps echoed uncanningly every step and she suddenly felt slightly nervous.

After finding nothing of intrest she finally decided she would leave, besides this place was giving her the creeps. She walked back the way she came and randomly stopped in front of a shelf to read a book title. It was bound with a gold spine and faded leather. on the cover a prince and princess where standing under an archway. Charlotte frowned the only problem was that the prince seemed to be a skeleton. Confused she lifted her gaze and read the title. ' The many tragedies of Te damned' She shudded at the thought, however something compelled her to take it and she headed to the front counter. upon borowwing the book she quickly left.

Lucy slowly looked up from her book at Joy and blinked, closing it around her forefinger to keep her page. No one's ever actually tried, on purpose, to make contact with her without the force of being polite or something. She smiled a bit, her eyes alight with enthusiasm for conversation. She tried her best to not let her enthusiasm escape through her voice or physical actions, for fear of looking rediculous, but she couldn't hold everything.

"I read fiction because it's nice to escape reality every once in a while. Enter someone else's life, you know? I read biographies, information books, and things like that to learn, when I feel like learning. I like music, too. What kind do you like?"

Misty turned her fin into feet, and walked into the library. Her red hair reflected the sun. She had an un-natural beauty. She walked toward the endless amount of shelves, and ran her fingers against the Spine of a book. She took the book out of its place, and opened it. It had many different symbols in it. She blushed. Everyone else had their nose in one, obviously understanding the symbols. She got a couple of the things with the symbols in them, and sat down to try to understand them.
