1. You butchered the spelling of Raoul.

2. Never, ever let Fox hear you talking that way.

Or me, for that matter. I'm about as bad as Fox with twice the temper.

Yes, I despise when my friends (who, btw, aren't Phans) misspell ANYTHING from the book, movie, etc. For example, my friend, Jennifer, she asked me one day, here on Gaia, after I said something about Erik, but calling him Phantom, then Erik, she said "Who are you talking about? The Phantom of the Opera or some guy named Eric?" Then I ranted to her in a reply about the mispell. *sigh* The insanity of being a obsessed Phan. Nobody else can stand to hear me talk about it anymore, or look at the cover of my copy of the book. (Foolish non-Phans...they will see! *Punjabs* AHH! I need to stop quoting the book this much...*Un-Punjabs*)

That's what the guild is here for. People who talk about Phantom so much that the persons in their immediate vicinity are inclined to string them up by their toes, use thumbscrews, or the like.

Why am I lucky I joined the guild before said event happened? XD

I joined right around the time of the 2004 movie, if not a few months before. Something rekindled my love and I had to find an obsessive place to vent it.

Actually, I joined the guild before anyone even knew that I was a phan. It was pretty hush-hush for a while, in my circle, as obsessions tend to be at the start for me. (I have this strange compulsion toward secrecy at times, for some reason.)

But, yeah, the 2004 movie struck up my interest again and I was here, right after having read the book. It didn't seem to stop people from wanting to use thumbscrews, in my case, though. In fact, they made their desires very clear to me.

I'm glad I never got tha--oh wait I did. But he's my friend's ex boyfriend now so he doesn't count. XD He used to b***h all the time about how many languages I had the music in. My friends like it and so does my mom, so other from mister girly-hair, I didn't get that.

Here's another one. You know you are too big a POTO phan when you start spelling f words with ph. You also know that when your siggy, your avatar, and your username are POTO related. Another is when you read the POTO by Leroux over and over and over just because it's the only book you actually find interesting beside the three musketeers. When you quote the book wayyy too much, when you join the Phantom Phan Guild and when you find flaws in the movie nobody else noticed.

Or when you buy an adaptation of the Leroux novel in French for imtermediate students when you're only in French I and spend your free time translating it sentence by sentence.

Being a phan is deffinately a lot of fun though! Here are the only things I can think of...

1) If you beg your parents to allow you to go to paris just so you can stalk through every opera house you can find in search of Erik.
2) If you have some strnage obsession to rip masks off of peoples faces (during Halloween).
3) If you run through graveyards every night singing Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again"

When angry at your friends, or anyone else, you will say "Keep your hand at the level of your eyes." I actually almost did that yesterday, when it was silent in the band room.

Ha ha...once I randomly started telling my Dad that it's awesome the way Christine says "consume" in The Point of No Return.
Also, here's a funny story. If something like this has ever happened to you, you know you're too much of a Phan:
I can't remember what started this, but I must have said something about Erik. My brother, Jeremy, sang "There is no Phantom of the Opera", like Raoul does in Why Have You Brought Me Here. I was so proud of him, and I replied "Jeremy, I've been there. To his world of unending light. To a world where the daylight dissolves into darkness...darkness..."
