Well I know my hubby killed tons of babys in Afghanistan... oh no wait he gave them toys and clothes, I always mix those up. Who ever made that web site is a total a**!

LOL That cracked me up. I know my hubby is injecting those Iraqis with Anthrax and Ebola. I mean, he is just a mindless drone after all.

Oh so sad. Although at the end of the clip, the guy tells Idiot to go back to school and get a freaking education.

Hey i'm Kris, 16..my stepdad is in the Navy, so that's why we had to move here to Hawaii, but right now my boyfriend is going into the Navy also, so yah, decided to post here because I'm about to experience how hard it's going to be lol. Can anyone give me some advice as to what it will be like? I kinda know, but not that much, he doesn't leave until August 2nd for BC (boot-camp)training, and i already know it's going to be really hard when he leaves.

I'm not sure how long Navy BCT is compared to army, but the other navy wife may be able to tell you. Based on my own experience, you can expect a couple of things:

1) You most likely won't hear from him at all the first 10-14 days or so and until your first letter comes, you won't have an address to write him at.

2) Phone calls will be infrequent and short during that time.

3) When you finally do get to see him, don't be surprised if he dropped some weight. I remember the first time I saw Chris after BCT I was in shock: he had lost about 30 pounds and looked like a skeleton to me because he wasn't that heavy to begin with.

My best advice would be to keep busy and not dwell on it too much: it goes by faster then you realize and you're stronger then you think.

aww thank you. He is going to Chicago for his BCT, but he also has to do AP school there, i'm just curious to know if they get to come back for a little while before they go to AP school?? That's my concern because we're not sure yet if he's able to or not, haha, he's soo skinny, they don't need to make him lose weight, he needs to gain weight lol. Who is the Navy wife? Thankie.

Well, I'm taking a guess here that it's pretty similar to the other branches.

First off, he might not loose weight. My husband was 150 lbs before he went in, came out 175 lbs. I wouldn't count on getting to see him after boot camp. I was able to see my husband for a day at his graduation (I think they gave him two days to spend with family, but he had to be back at like 8 PM both nights) but then he had to leave for his schooling right after he graduated.

It'll be hard and rough, but ditto to what Manda said. Stay busy and positive. There will be a lot of hard times being military, so this is the first test!

downninjettewa is the only navy wife we have I believe.

As for a break inbetween, it really depends on when his orders to be at his next duty station are. When Chris got out of BCT, he didn't get a break at all because he was due at Goodfellow the day after, but some of the guys had a couple days of leave depending on when their AIT was. If you go to his graduation, they should have a family day where you can be with them and they'll get a day pass and have to be back by a certain time, I think it was 8pm for us too.

Haha, almost forgot my own news. heart

Chris had his E5 board today and got 150/150 points. He's supposed to get pinned Sept 1 as long as the points don't jump in July. (The board was supposed to be tomorrow, but the company starts block leave so it was moved to today.) Under the current points he's way over, but if they jump them, he might not make it. We'll see.

-waits in anticipation-

I just can't wait to get a new ID card: everyone keeps telling me I look maybe 16 in my current one.

We'll be hoping that the points don't jump. 3nodding

ahh so i found out some news, Andrew's BCT is done Oct 4. and he's allowed 5days leave smile So, i'm glad..he's going to come out here & see me! But he doesn't get any leave during AP schooling, so the nect time i'll be able to see him after Oct. is in Feb, that's when he gets 10 days leave, so i'm happy that i at least get to see him smile

So yesterday the Guard had this huge awards ceremony to honor recently deployed soilders. My husband ofcourse being one of these soilders. We were told that the families would be receving speical recognition for their year or in my cause years(two deployments back to back) of scrafice. So what great prize do they give me... a lapel pin! stare And for my daughter... "Opperation Endering Freedom" the board game (yes I said board game), National Gaurd trading cards, and a "top secret" folder full of recrutment pamphlets(sp). eek
What is with the military? Is a retarded pin really suppose to make me feel special, and excited about my husband being overseas and missing his childern growing up, not to mention all the crap the millitary puts you throw and dealing with the dred tri-care. What about some really rewards! Like an all expenses payed vaction, a year free nanny services, new car, or mabye some cash? That might make me feel a little better. Well I guess if thats what we really wanted we should have gone on the Price is Right, instead of joining the National Gaurd. rofl

Oh my gosh, that's ridiculous! Although I'm not suprised and they're so lame it makes me giggle.

You deserve a hell of a lot more than that!!

I just noticed this thread. I just got out of the marines after 5 years as an arabic linguist. My husband has the same job that I had and is also getting out the beginning of next year. *jumps for joy* But for now he's in Iraq doing linguist stuff. I don't even know exactly where he is but at least he can call me almost every day. Even though I don't think they're supposed to use their sat phone for personal calls, they all do it. They figure if the military wants to stick them in the middle of nowhere, they can pay for a few freakin phone calls. I'll admit I'm lucky though, his deployment is only 5-6months since we're from a support bn. Our company is dividing the deployment in half, normally it would be 10-12 months. He's leaving Iraq for Hawaii on the 11th of October and he'll be here about a week after that, 2 at most. We're having our second baby in December so he'll be here for it, unlike our first one. If anyone is curious about the marines I could tell them a little, but I've mostly been on army bases doing joint service stuff so I don't know what it's like to live on a marine base.

Man, I haven't checked for replies in here for a long time. Welcome, Nemone. ^^

Well, the points for Sept were finally released and....he WOULD have made it but they didn't count up his packet correctly so he will not be promoting. We're waiting one more month to see if they drop to the normal points again before resubmitting because that takes an additional 2 months on top of all of this.

Though, I had asked him to resubmit right away and it wouldn't have cost him any time.

The waiting game, I hate the "hurry up and wait" ideal, lol. Seriously, I really hope it gets lowered for this next month. heart
