Actually, the only time I ever had to deal with a band hater was in middle school, when I told my band director back then I planned on taking band in high school, and one of the morons who were just in the class to get the grade said "You know, band is for losers and people who have no friends." but other wise, no one bothers the band. Nothing good, nothing bad. In fact, one of the schools we went to for a game, their cheerleading squad had a cheer about how much they loved their band. One of my friends asked a cheerleader from our school why they don't love us and she just shrugged and said "I don't know." Our school really just doesn't care. We have a small band. Our marching band has about 26 people in it, not counting the freshman that didn't attend the summer practices. Normal bands are probably double what we have. We don't even have a dance team or a color guard anymore. One of the cheerleading coaches was supposed to take control of that but once she did, she canceled them both. She probably only cared about the cheerleaders. *Shrugs.* it doesn't really bother me that our school doesn't support us as much as we would like.

Every one loves our band cuz our football team sucks and we actually bring home trophies!! Last year we even got a police escort back into town on our way home from state. Best day ever. All these cars were honking and screaming at us, and we were all holding one finger (or pinky) up, out the window and waving at the cars. Everyone was excited that day, we are the pride of our town(s). Good times, good times. Plus, most of our populars are in the band so yeah.

With another year comes more honking and screaming. Sometimes we get to practice on our sweet new stadium field, which is awesome not only because of the artificial turf, but because the stadium is far away from the roads. When we're on the usual practice field, though, it's just as bad as ever. If there's a staff person not doing anything else, he'll try to get the license plate number, and the moron doesn't have a good day in school the next day.
One guy tried to honk in time with the metronome. Needless to say, he failed miserably.

Because were we practice is right next to where a lot of people walk home, we get a lot of stares, shouts, whistles. And all of the above from cars as well. Some people will just stand and stare, but after a while our BD notices and yells at them through his megaphone. xd

When we were performing at a football, some old fat guy was sitting in our stands, so our director calmly asked him to move. The guy started yelling, and told us to f--- off, etc. The cops were almost called, but then the guy moved.
It's a hilarious story to tell now, but was really weird then.

OH yeah. Imagine being in the Atlanta HS marching band eek I'm always getting shouts of "BAND GEEK!" And I just say "Thank you for tyhe compliment I wear the shirt."
Once this senior foot ball player came up to me and yelled "Band sucks!" At the time I was a freshman I'm JR. now And I just said. "Yea well foot ball is for sissys. You run for the ball and get your a** kicked. Atleast Band requires intelligence." cool xp I fealt so fricken great cause well I have some rumors down theere I mean I live in a bad neighbore hood NO I am not black ..But the did I mention he was a SENIOR and ran away cause he got me pissed and well everyone knows when I'm pissed you leave me the hell alone. evil

last yera during band camp it seemed that every day a fire truck or ambulance drove by.
and the guy teaching our drill was up in a cherry picker-thing with a megaphone. he started blaring the alarm sound on the megaphone when one would pass with its siren running

Durza the Shade My marching band's practice field is in full view of two fairly major roads and an intersection. As people are driving by, we often have to put up with honking, shouts of "Band sucks!" and "Get a life!", and incoherant screaming. We were even mooned once last year. It's annoying, but we get at least two screamers, a shout and a honk every practice, so we learn to deal with it. I know from a friend in another local band that the same thing happens at their practices. Does this happen to anyone else? umm if there in the first place with nothing else to do then they are the ones who have no lifes wasting time on something usless lol

People usually don't shout at us, but if they do, it's usually sarcastic and we turn it into compliments.
