See, as far as things go, the stereotype is that 'Emos' are sad, scrawny people, who would be easy to pick on. Also, to go along with the stereotype, they seem to enjoy abuse on one level or another.

Ignoring the stereotype, alot of guys don't like the sensitive 'Emo' guys, and some of the more, 'open' ones, may 'scare' 'normal' guys because the 'normal' guys are homophobic.

Personally, it was a joking statement, after all, all 'Goths' are satanist devil worshippers... you see what I mean, its not true, we know it, but we can poke fun at it. I've got plenty of 'Emo' friends, some actual, some just mainstream, and I am not surprised that you have a 'Emo' friend that is very contrary to the stereotype.

Honestly, I don't have any real problem with 'Emos', I poke fun at them as much as any subculter, mainstream group, race, religion, anything really, as long as its only for fun and games.

A fair amount depends on your beliefs. Which are often affected by religion, but thats aside from the point. Talking about 'seeing' spirits would start to get into 'magic', borderlining the modern-ish religion of Wicca (please, dear god, for the love of my sanity, do not start talking to me about the history of Wicca the facts I may gloss of, please, for the love of it all, no more *curls into a ball and whimpers*) I'm into shamanism, I have problems with Wicca, as well as every religion, so, go for anything I guess.

With my beliefs, their are 'spirits', and different definitions for them depending on certain things. I believe that everyone has the basic ability for things that would involve, 'seeing' spirits and such. However, I believe that some people may have more of a developed 'knack' or natural ability to do such things. I follow the idea of them being orbs, though, different ones can have shapes or 'bodies' even, but that involves certain magic things, as well as a series of beliefs and explaining alot of philosophy-speculations about the topic.

Most of the time, 'hearing' would be hearing something they affected, such as a the sound of something crashing, its not the 'spirit' your hearing, its something they did. 'Seeing' is rarely clear, unless you get into certain magic things, and have certain beliefs, like I said. Most of the time its just 'intuition' and uncanny *knowing* that they are their, or what they are like. This *knowing* is usually 'feeling', though, some people can feel temperature, or thickness, amoung other things, which they signify to be a sign about the, or a, spirit being present.

i gotta point out sometimes you can actually hear them, or them from events from the past. on christmas one morning, bells were ringing. the kidn you hold and ring yourself. and we didn't have any. another christmas a baby was crying ((i was asleep though)) and it wouldn't stop until my mum opened the front door.

also religion can affect it but won't hold you or the spirit/ghost back. trust me.

I ment religion is likely to have a stong effect on your beliefs...

And (not inculding dreams) you can hear things, but everyone will assume that means having a conversasion(sp?). A scream, a shout, some haunting hting sure, but I have never caught what they say in the shouts.

And I have never gotten any sounds when I was paying attention. Trying doesn't work...

I won't deny what your saying, as I have nothing to refute, or prove your statement. But when I do journeying, I can't hear anything, ever. I've been working on trying to do something about it.

I never happen to catch any shouts, I've heard names before, but the longer statements just go right over my head.
