"No what?" she inquires pleasantly enough, wondering what had provoked such a random negative word. She notes his expression and frowns herself. "Is something wrong?" she asks.

DeArca sighed, leaning against the broad wall of a nearby building. "I'm sorry, Caroline....I can't come with you or your caravan. I'm not one of you...not in spirit" He said, looking down at the ground. "I'm not even sure I can even relate myself to your kind even with the blood in my veins!" He said.

"Tish-tosh," she says with an encouraging smile. "What makes a gypsy is a wandering sprit, a certain stubbornness, and the desire to be a gypsy. Blood has nothing to do with it. Ye'll grow into the gypsy life in time--ye're always welcome in our caravan."

"You don't understand..." He frowned, looking into her eyes. "I can't lie to you so I'll tell you everything and then see how you feel about me." He nodded, telling her the story of his life. How he was raised by a farmer who believed gypsies to be evil. How Illyana spoke of wanting to be a gypsy. Lastly, he told her of how the farmer spoke of him having gypsy parents and being exiled from the place he called home. "I was taught the worst things about your people...I never wanted you to find out because I was scared you'd hate me...but I guess you will hate me now!" He said.

After carefully explaining Aisrhan's most recent, though admittedly odd, growth to her parents and accomplishing the feat of regaining their acceptance and trust, Silver had spent a few more hours at her old home before saying her farewells and returning to Gjerhvayne Inn. There, after having settled Aisrhan down to sleep, making sure Khevashi was comfortable, and checking on Mherudyn, Silver threw herself down upon the bed, exhausted. She, like her children, was soon fast asleep. ((Short post, I know, but I'm too tired to say much more. ^^;; Will be able to post tomorrow, hopefully. <3 ))

"Nonsense," she says. "What reason have ye given me to hate you?" she asks, sliding off of Cornelius. "Ye can't help for how ye were raised, DeArca. Your friend seems like a smart lass. Do it for her. Join our caravan. We're all lovely lassies (and one bonnie lad), and ye're quite welcome. Come," she says, offering her hand. "Ye'll feel better with food down yer gullet." Rojiza frowns at DeArca's words. She wishes to comfort him, but has no way to. She'll give him a little piece of treasure later, she decides. Something to make him feel like a real gypsy. She pats Cornelius ponderingly.

DeArca was amazed that she was so cheerful after hearing a sad tale but it brought him relief and soon joy to know she was so caring for his sadness. Now he had finally unburdened himself from his sorrows and took her hand, following her to where she would take him for food. He reached, taking Rojiza's hand so they could go together. "Thank you both...it means much to me!" He said.

Caroline chooses to walk beside DeArca rather than to remount Cornelius. She gives his hand a reassuring squeeze and they continue to walk together. Rojiza slides forward to take Cornelius' mane so as to control him, sort of. She smiles reassuringly at DeArca, ever stoic in her silence. |Gonna move it along a bit here.| They reach a restaurant of reputable quality. Caroline ties her mule's lead to a hitching post and pulls Rojiza off of his back. They go inside, Caroline slinging her pack across her shoulder. Once seated, Caroline takes a look at the ample menu and shrugs, unsure of what to order. Rojiza finds that nothing appeals to her, so she scribbles down what she really wants (and would be plausible to make in a restaurant) on her hand and shows it to Caroline.

DeArca studied the menu himself, looking quite confused to see such strange dishes. However he stuck with what he knew best. "I think a bowl of stew with potatoes and milk gravy would do for me!" He nodded, putting down his menu.

"My, my," says Caroline to herself. "How long it's been since I've had pasta." She looks up as the server comes. "I'll try your pasta with white sauce," she says, folding her menu. "And would it be possible for you to make a fruit and nut salad for the wee one?" she inquires. She smiles as the server nods. "Bueno, bueno," she says. Rojiza smiles to herself. Yum!

DeArca waited for their food to come so he decided to have his conversation. "So, how did you come to have Rojiza, Caroline? If that's proper to ask." He smiled some.

"Of course it is," says Caroline. "Normally people do when they see a young child with a big poofy squirrel's tail." She grins heartily. "I was originally from the mountains, you know," she says, "And I eventually got the wanderlust. I took my grandfather's wagon, called Mountain Air, and down the mountain I went. I found Valelldia, that's the caravan leader, in a small town where she was trying to get a caravan together. While I was there, I found a discarded child's top. It was shaped like an acorn. I kept it, intending to find the child to whom it belonged. Well, things happen and I forgot, but mayhap it was a good thing I did, for Val said that there was a child within that top. A few weeks later she performed a tarot reading for me and Rojiza grew into a bonnie wee grey squirrel. The Meij works in mysterious ways, and we've been on several small missions in order to further Ro's growth." She touches Ro's cheek fondly. "We've been inseperable ever since! Ah!" she smiles as the food arrives. "Hadn't realized I was blabbin' so much," she says with a small blush. Rojiza can only listen and blush mildly as her mother tells her story. She wonders what the next task would be for her to grow into her next stage of life. She wonders what the mysterious Meij has in store for her. She munches on her salad while pondering this.

DeArca began to eat his stew slowly, wondering what the meij had in store for him. "I do wish to ask you this, Caroline." He asked, reaching into his stachel, pulling out a wood carving of a tree. "What do you think of this?" He asked. "I...kind of ran into this...not really knowing how it came to be." He said.

"I think it's a bonnie carving," says Caroline, pausing in her gustation to peer curiously at the tree. She smiles. "Evidently someone thought it was good enough to eat," she says, pointing at the two mouth-shaped voids in its base. Wide-eyed, Rojiza snatches the carving away from her mother and cuddles it. This is what made DeArca special, she just knows it. She can feel it. She ignores her mother's reprimand and her apology to DeArca for Rojiza's 'greedy behaviour.' Finally she looks closely at the statue, nods once confidently and gives it back. It's a Fortunette, she knows, but she isn't telling. "I'm so sorry about her," Caroline was saying. "She's so impulsive sometimes." She cocks an eyebrow at Ro as she returns the carving. Caroline returns it to its owner. "Evidently my little magpie here thinks there's something special about it. Hang onto that carving, lad. There's magic in't."

"More like a piece of termite food. I can't believe you think magic exists within this wimpy thing" He said, putting it on the table. "I don't know...maybe there is something special about it. I mean, you can't just walk in an endless forest and find this thing out of the blue so conincidently. Perhaps its the will of that...meij...thing that Illyana spoke of so passionately" He said, looking to them. "Rojiza, I was impressed on how focused you were with it. If you want it I guess you can probably have it as a keepsake. It's just a carving!" He said, not realizing what it truly was.
