18. Thread falls, and a sneaky strand winds up chewing on your wingsail. You pop Between to ease the pain, and come out flaming. It hurts, but it's small tubers compared to what it could have been! +1 Pain Resilience]
In their sorrow Bitah and Phocath didn't notice the bit of Thread that was wriggling its way down towards them until Phocath felt it bite into his wing. They popped Between quickly to freeze it off, the brown ignoring the sting. It was nothing to the pain he felt for the loss of his wingmate.

Looking up, Bitah saw the dragon off their left wing was in danger of being swarmed by Thread coming from behind. Phocath jumped Between to close the distance between them and the Thread and emerged flaming, catching the silvery enemy and saving their wingmate.

20. You appear from Between and find the space you were hoping would be clear now has a large sheet of Thread being guested towards it. You've only a moment to decide where to go, and both you and your dragon pick a spot and hop Between in an attempt to avoid Thread. Roll a D4 and take whatever damage or XP you're given! 4: You not only manage to blink out of danger, but you blink back again, flame half of the clump, and blink away again only to appear a safe distance away. It's an impressive display of thread fighting power! Good job! Word will be going around the lower caverns tonight! +2 Extra Between Accuracy
Moving back to their position, Bitah gave a startled yelp as Thread greeted her gaze. Together they moved as one, working together to jump Between again just as the Thread would have engulfed them. Appearing just above where they'd been a moment later, Phocath flamed down the sheet of Thread that had been about to swallow them whole, searing half of it to ash. Together they jumped out of the way again, winging back into position once it was safe to do so.

Ouch! Feeding your dragon some firestone has resulted in them biting their tongue! This is going to distract your dragon for the next three rolls. Their flaming aim will go down, and they might be slower to dodge out of Thread's way. [Tongue Bitten Effect! Your dragon is distracted by pain. No XP will be earned for the next 3 rolls. Any successes will be nullified. Should you roll a prompt with the possibility of damage, take the max damage allotted for your size/color automatically but it will also end the Tongue Bitten Effect immediately.]

Taking more firestone from her bag, Bitah tossed it to Phocath after his rather impressive display. Sure, he could be lazy and yes, he wasn't the most physically fit dragon there was, but he really could move in the air when he wanted to!
Chomping down on the stone, Phocath caught his tongue between his teeth and let out a little wail of pain. But one of his wingmates spoke to him then and he had to trumpet out a weak laugh.
High praise coming from you, Skerath. We'll see if you outlast me. A friendly taunt of his own, but he sent her a wave of thanks for taking his mind off the pain in his mouth. He had Thread to fight and a hole to help fill.

11. The wind is rough, but you and your dragon are managing. You get a breather as your dragon flies into a small break of Threadfall. The upper altitudes must be doing a good job sweeping up!
Feeling better despite the slight pain in his mouth, Phocath held steady in position as they flew on, a watchful eye on his wingmates. They couldn't lose another! Even as he thought that Rixth began to plummet from the sky, drawing a startled bugle from the brown. They had a ways to fall, hopefully a Queen would catch him.

As you're flaming down some Thread, a gust of wind suddenly pushes the remaining cloud back at you and your dragon. You've no choice but to blink Between to avoid it, and appear higher up, missing the clump. The rest of the thread falls down towards the lower altitude. [+1 Between Accuracy]
Though his calf ached, E'sul did his best to ignore it-- just as Nioweth did her best to ignore the bite against her shoulder and neck. There were others who suffered more... They had just reappeared from Between when Nioweth threw her head back and keened.
E'sul knew that sound; knew what happened even though Nioweth said nothing. One of their own--one of Trespasser's own--hadn't made it through. This was... This was the hard part of Thread. Knowing that someone whom had been with them not quite an hour prior was now gone--lost forever.
Worse... neither rider nor dragon could properly mourn. Thread wouldn't let them--not until they returned to the Weyr for good.
