Your dragon took extensive damage to one of their wingsails, which dropped you out of the fight early. You're temporarily grounded until the wingsail heals, which could take anywhere from 3 sevendays to 3 months. This means no flying until you're given clearance from the dragonhealers. Tough luck, but at least the damage isn't permanent. We hope.

You wind up getting miserably ill. You have a high-fever that puts you well in the infirmary. If you're a dragonrider, your dragon is likely going to get very upset! If you've a weyrling, they're going to be in a miserable state of worry and distress! You don't know what you've got but it puts you out for a good two to three sevendays. Fever, chills, aches, pains; you have no appetite and likely wind up dropping some weight from the sickness. Any loved ones or family are likely quite worried.
