"She is, yes. She lives as a human most of the time, though," Toby replied. Really most of them did, that was sort of the point of being an agent. Dari could at least appear to be one when necessary, and he was about as odd as they got. "Sure. What do you feel like?"
The werewolf pulled out his cell phone and began to search for restaurants nearby. They had a car, maybe they could bring Maia somewhere nice before ripping her out of her home. He wanted to last out their rental time, though. Maybe they should just cruise around a little, they'd have to see something.

"So I assumed. Being an agent requires blending in." Maia said. Honestly, she'd figured that on her own. Dari took great lengths to blend in in the human world. She imagined a selkie would have to learn to act human. "Do you feel like seafood?" she asked. "There's this place up The road ways. Fancy place, I've only been there once. But the food there is amazing!"
It was a bit expensive, but it wasn't her money. And she was sure the fbpi had plenty. "We can go swimming tonight, you and me Dari. He didn't seem to eat, and she didn't want him feeling left out.

"Sure, I can do seafood." It had been a while since he'd had any. Seafood was one of those things you got on vacation, because there were no really fresh fish in Arizona. "How fancy? I didn't bring a jacket."
"Nor did I," Dari added, looking up to the two. He didn't eat, although he could fake it if it was required of him. He just happened to have no stomach, being made of sentient ooze and all. It'd just sit in his torso and dissolve, and he'd be one fish filet larger. This might be one of those times he needed to eat for the sake of propriety. It was a good thing he had the projector rather than his usual greasepaint or his oddly-shaded teeth would have been flat-out black.
"Sure, swimming is good." All Toby kept thinking was 'it'd be warmer if I transformed first,' but breaking his shins to make a selkie feel comfortable wasn't exactly high on his list of priorities.

"Hm? Oh. Not that fancy," Maia assured them.with a smile. She'd never been to a restaurant that men wore jackets and ties to. "When we're done here we can go. In that car of yours." She wasn't particularly fond of it, but it was by far a faster means of transportation than walking.
She glanced over at Toby. "I thought we'd decided the water would be too cold for you?" She asked. "Well. If you promise not to freeze to death, you can come."

Toby smiled and nodded. Good. Not that fancy.
"Oh, I'm uninvited now just because I could go into cardiac arrest? I'm offended," he said, although he didn't look or sound offended at all. He tucked his phone away and stood, heading for the engine. "Alright, who wants to ride around a little more?" If not sea creatures were coming, just sitting here wasn't going to make Maia any happier. It was nice, though, that his job actually legally involved bonding activities and building trust.

"Yes," Maia said, not at all alarmed that he might be offended. She didn't want her companion to die. For two different reasons: only he could open the safe that held her pelt, and two because she was almost fond of him. "I don't want you to die," She pointed out.
She sat up when he said they'd ride around a bit more. That'd be fun. To have the ocean moving under them. "Lets go! Fast."

Toby laughed. He couldn't tell if the selkie was being sarcastic or was just that blunt, but either way it was funny.
"Oh, please don't tempt him," Dari begged, offering his hand to help Maia back into the boat proper.
"What are you afraid of?" Tobi asked, "You're the only one of us that won't drown if we capsize."
"Alright. But both of us will die if you run us over with the boat."
Once Maia was save, Toby started the engine and the movement began. Dari actually looked slightly worried when they set off, but in no time they were blasting through the water, coated in spray and safely away from the other boats. Should the selkie choose to look back, she would find a widely grinning Toby speckled with ocean spray.

Maia accepted Dari's hand and was soon seated next to him. "Don't worry," She said. "If he sinks the boat, I'll take you two to shore. Well. That depends largely on whether or not we get eaten, drown, because two men are heavy, attract attention, and if the coast guard sees us, which in that case they'd be taking us to shore."
She noticed Dari's expression, and reached for his hand. "Its okay," she promised. She glanced towards Toby. "Don't run over any seals!"

Oh my. Well that was a very specific and correct line of reasoning, wasn't it? Of course Dari might be in some trouble if anyone who regularly carried human bodies tried to carry him, but he'd more likely just wander up out of the ocean in a mass of people. Easy-peasy. Dari smiled and accepted Maia's hand, although he didn't squeeze it. He wasn't really so nervous.
"I'm not going to run over anything!" Toby shouted over the engine.

"You'd better not!" Maia called back. She gave Dari a smile. "I won't let him get hurt," she said, glancing towards Toby. In case Dari was worried more for Toby than himself. She suspected that was the case. They were so close. "He's not allowed to swim with us, but he can come with and watch."
"He's certainly having fun, though."

He definitely was, of that there was no doubt. Dari smiled fondly up at the blonde and nodded to Maia while Toby continued to enjoy himself while piloting a boat at great speed. Even Dari had to admit it was pretty fun, even if Toby was showing off a little. Hell, even if he wasn't meaning to he was showing off, just a little.
The trio had returned to the hotel after their allotted boating time so Toby could wash off the salt of the day before they climbed in the car to head to the restaurant Maia had mentioned. When asked if he would be coming, Dari relented. Sure, he'd come, it wasn't dark yet. It was Toby who drove to the restaurant, and who charmingly smiled at the pretty hostess who brought them to their table. Menus were opened and perused.
"What are you thinking?" Toby asked the only selkie at the table. She must have eaten raw seafood all the time, mustn't she? He was a fan of sushi, but 'struggling and alive' was a little too raw for him.

"I'm thinking I'll have the shrimp fettuccine alfredo," she rattled off one of the specials from the menu. She'd heard someone order that last time she'd come. Pasta was always good, she'd discovered. Pasta with shrimp sounded even better! The pictures all looked wonderful, but she couldn't read what was written below them."What about you?"
"It all looks good, doesn't it?" she beamed. "Oooh maybe we can have one of their desserts!"

It struck Toby then that, if Maia had been unable to fill out the form, she may well be unable to read the menu. Rather than embarrass her, he nodded with a thoughtful expression.
"Yeah, that's good stuff. I think I'm going to go for the salmon. Dari?"
"It's all the same to me."
"Really?"
"Well... sort of. It's fishy, or chewy, or slimy, but it's all the same. What's small?"
"Just get crab, I want to watch you struggle to open it."
"That's because you're a b*****d. Scallops, I think. Those look small."
"Don't want to gain twelve pounds?"
"No."
Ah, but the idea of dessert was exciting. Sometimes you didn't, just because nobody else had mentioned it at the table and nobody wanted to be the juvenile p***k that kept everyone late so they could eat a sundae. Maia had said it first, though, so they were on.
"Do you like the look of any of them?" he asked, searching for the dessert menu and finding a small section with no pictures. Huh. "Let me rephrase. What do you like?" You could catch a mermaid with honey and the selkie had immediately requested they go get taffy, so something sweet, obviously.

"I like pastas," Maia said. "Oooh, salmon! That's really good here." People said it was fresh caught too, but the selkie wasn't entirely sure she believed it. She smiled at Dari's description of seafood. Yes, fish tended to be all of that.
She set down her menu. "Ice cream is always good," She considered. "What do they have?" She was partial to sweet things, being seelie. Sweet things were her favorite, apart from fish. She was starting to wonder, though, if she didn't prefer human food to that she found in the ocean. Things had such a different flavor when they were cooked. "Do you want anything?"

"Um. Well. Creme brulee, which is like cool custard with sugar on top, and key lime pie, cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, oh. Yeah, they have ice cream." That certainly seemed like the most boring option, though, didn't it? "Yeah, I think I'll have something too, I just don't know what."
