The Laughing green moved onwards towards the candidates, more quickly now as though she had found a renewed sense of purpose. It wasn't long before she was standing in front of Kylerr

Back across the sands the Welcoming Egg started to move for the first time in quite a while. It was not its own movements that cracked it however, it was the Burning Egg which gave a mighty shudder, toppled over and struck it. The Welcoming Egg rolled a short distance away, cracks spreading across its surface, and after a few moments the shell fell away to reveal a sapphire blue hatchling lying on his back and looking mildly disoriented. The Burning Egg meanwhile continued to twitch and rock, soon cracking open itself to reveal a richly-hued brown.

As Malta cleaned his eye, Fadrin hissed and moaned, writhing under he healer's ministrations. It HURT and was the most bizarre sensation he'd ever had... they were doing something inside the eye socket and it hurt and squished. He didn't realize until then that his eye was lost... and his moaning stilled to a terrified question: how would he cope?

He squinted with his good eye at Malta when she asked if he wanted anything and he frowned, obviously wracked with pain. "Numbweed or something..." He managed, only to flick his gaze over to his dragon, sitting patiently waiting for more food, "She's C-conroith." Even talking hurt. He grimaced and stopped that too... face moving hurt in general.

At her name, Conroith perked and nosed at her rider, clearly proud of her bonded and bobbed her head as if to confirm her name.

When Baevith and Vee came over, Conroith crooned at her sister through a mouthful of meat, giving a shrug as if to say the injury was no big deal. Small pain... Worth it, too. I couldn't let Mine or someone defenseless get hurt. There was a certain grace about the way she spoke of it, as if she were perfectly comfortable and committed to her moral compass so soon, and so strong, after Hatching. Why do you fight with the other? Curiosity tinged the green's gaze... she preferred no to fight so if she could understand, maybe she could help resolve their conflict.

His face patched but too exhausted and weak to get up off the cot they'd laid him on, Fadrin grimaced again. Rough was an understatement! "I'm Fadrin... F'in now, I guess." The grin couldn't be suppressed, though it illicited a groan of pain. "And she's Conroith. Brave bugger." His pride was clear as day, even through the bandages and pain.

Zen could appreciate music, there was no lack of it among her family or those of her craft, but the clear call of the Laughing hatchling held no pull on her. "No kidding! But Shaff lookit him!" She gestured towards the blue who'd come out of the bloodstained egg as he hissed and backed away from the candidates again. That one looked like trouble... and he was close. Him and that brown that was eyeing them so warily. Zen herself was suspicious of those two.

"Hah!" Zen snorted as the bronze apparently wanted the girls as much as the gold had wanted the boys. What a twisted clutch! Not that she had any real experience of others but she was still confident in her judgement. Watching him though, she'd missed the approach of the singing green and when she turned back to the last of her newly met friends, she saw the unmistakable moment of Impression.

Well shells!

"F'in is it?" Vee cocked her head thoughtfully and then grinned. "Well that's not a bad name and I guess I can be V' now if I want, right? I quite like that. Hey, you want me to go get some food for our girls while you and Baeveth are getting fixed up?" Oh, and here came the rider of that other green; Vee gave him a hard look that only got harder when he was rude to the healer. "Please is a word that exists you know," she commented acidly to Jameson.

Baeveth gave a mental snort. When Karath appeared Baeveth gave her a stern ignoring, not even deigning to glance in her direction.

Vosin and Gold Killakeeth

The teen gave a thumbs up to Kylerr and Zen as she passed around them. Vos gave her twin a quick grateful hug then stepped back. "It was a surprise I'll admit. Sorry about leaving, she really wanted me over there. With things calming down, Vos took a moment to glance around. A lot of the dragons had finally paired off leaving the sands much clearer for those still standing. That was good. Less confusion. She looked surprised as a beautiful green came toward the group. Vos looked hopefully between her sister and brother. Was she for one of them?

She noticed the beautiful tone from one of the greens and grinned as the playful bronze hatched and frolicked with his siblings. More eggs were rocking as well. There were a couple of anxious dragons, and she hoped they would find theirs ok.

"It's all good," she reassured Esre.

She gave a trill of greeting to the girl and boy. Likewise, she replied to Vesin. Killakeeth had settled herself beside Vosin and turned to watch the other hatchlings when the boy spoke up. She pushed her head toward him, Yes, yes you may. She was trying to be dignified, but a little bit greedy for the attention. Killa glanced as a sister came over to join the group. She sniffed in rebuff that the green would come over before she got her scratch.

She grinned as Ves got a dreamy look then finally spoke. "A pleasure Xibath. Congrats Ves!" That was one of her siblings! She startled a bit as the green spoke directly to her then laughed softly. "We're happy to have you!"

Killakeeth chirped a greeting to her green sibling. I know you will do well Xibath. She turned green eyes toward her rider, I hope we will go to the tables soon. I am hungry and wish the best selection possible.

Vos glanced toward the mentioned tables and then her brother. She couldn't leave while he was waiting. Plus it would be hard on him if both she and Ves left. Just a little long, then I'll make sure you have the best.

Jameson was momentarily distracted by the fact that he could swear he saw that the candidate had no eye! He stared at Fadrin without meaning to before he glared sharply at Vee for her words. "I did ask nicely. I thought the please was implied... and it's your green's fault that my girl isn't getting fed right at this moment." He said icily.

Karath hissed at Baeveth again. "Brat thinks she can ignore me now? I'll give her another beating she won't soon forget!' The green took a threatening step forward and Jameson stood right beside her. Later, he would probably realize that he had no reason to dislike Vee or her Green, but at this moment, he wasn't going to back down from a fight because she thought he was being "Rude."

Karath paid no heed to the injured Weyrling or her other sister, glaring solely at Baeveth and growling lowly, challenging her, intent on proving just how much better she was thank her little sister. 'Come on you ugly thing!' She said directly to Baeveth.

Baeveth growled in return and turned her head to the other green, though she made no move to shake off the healers who were tending to her. she said in tones cold enough to freeze a lava flow and sharp enough to cut through diamonds. conversation later.> Later when she'd had a chance to think of a way to get the upper claw; much as she hated to admit it Karath was far stronger than she was and though her speed and agility more or less balanced that out Baeveth did not like a fight that was balanced, she liked a fight she knew she was going to win.

"Hey, hey," Vee snapped, stepping in front of her dragon and glaring at Jameson as her good humor vanished like a dragon flashing between. "How about you keep a handle on your dragon before they end up fighting again and one of them goes between?" She didn't honestly know how much it took to make that happen and it wasn't a risk that she was prepared to take; Baeveth was already bleeding enough and she hadn't eaten yet either, the young dragon's hunger fairly clawed at her belly and brought back vivid memories of when she'd been that hungry herself.

He was going to Reply with something vicious until he heard between. He didn't want that to happen ever! He continued to glare at her but took a deep visible breath before taking a step back, his hand coming to rest on Karath's head. "Come on darling, let's get you fixed up and fed. We don't need this right now." He said, though he continued to glare at Vee. He wasn't one to backdown usually but he wasn't going to risk his girl like this... Though looking at the two, he was sure that Karath could win.

Jameson muttered a few unsavory words under his breath and kept his hand on Karath to keep her as calm as possible.

Meanwhile the green hissed again and flared her wings at Baeveth. 'I'll show you whenI chew on that ugly skull of yours...' She growled, preparing to launch herself at her sister when Jameson touched her head. She didn't look at him, but lowered her wings. She didn't care if she was hurt! She needed to teach this arrogant little brat a lesson!

But Jameson's hand wouldn't leave her and she wouldn't charge if it would hurt him. 'One of these days, Sister,' She muttered as she very reluctantly backed down and stepped back with Jameson. 'I want to be fed and away from that beast.' She said though she continued to glate at Baeveth.

Kylerr and Green Sirinth

He felt something parting... much like the quizzical egg from the Touching, rising out of nothing. It was suddenly there, much closer than that place in his mind he understood his friends to be when he talked to them, that place he understood and hoped Fadrin to be, even closer than that place he understood music to be... There she was.

And he realized he couldn't see her, and that he could almost watch himself as he turned around and dropped to his knees. He beamed at the rainbow eyes. "There you are, you beautiful, beautiful everything, you!" he placed his hands beside her muzzle and rested his forehead on it. He slid his hands up and over her knobs and massaged his thumbs over the ridges.

Sirinth pushed back up against him.

Kylerr felt Sirinth's hunger flare up. He rested back on his haunches and laughed. "Don't be afraid of that, dearest. Let's get you taken care of, too."

He grinned up at Zen. "Good luck, Zen! Hopefully we'll meet up later! I'm sure yours won't be much longer!"

He gave one last wave over to Vosin as he strode backward toward where the healers were. Fadrin...

"Yes, I can feel it," he said. His mind was a flurry. Parchment... a quill, Fadrin, YOU! The whole Hatching... He faced right. Sirinth nudged the back of his thigh. "Okay, okay," he said with a smile as the healers grew closer.

Jaric

And just like the gold had turned to the boys first, the bronze headed for the girls. It seemed he still wanted to play, headbutting and nipping at them. Jaric would bet that he'd want to play with the male Candidates just as much, whenever he got over to the boys' group. As long as he didn't pounce on any people like he had his siblings, because humans wouldn't hold up so well to that.

Then he noticed more dragons heading to the boys. Aw, the brown was leading his nervous blue brother closer! The blue didn't stay close for long though, it seemed he didn't like the boys and headed for the girls instead. Hopefully he'd find his rider soon so they could calm him down.

Then the singing blue Impressed to a boy who Jaric thought was a Harper. How appropriate! He bet they'd have fun together. Movement on the sands made him turn in time to see one egg crash into another, both cracking open to release their inhabitants, a blue and a brown. Did eggs help hatch each other often?

Zen nodded and lifted her hand in a (hopefully temporary!) farewell as Kylerr turned and left with his green.

Back on the sands she took another survey of the candidates, sliding sideways toward the divide between girls and guys. It wasn't like there was a huge pack of candidates crammed together anymore and the amount of hatchlings congregating on one side had thinned. Watching she saw that there was no point in getting disappointed just yet. A third of the clutch still remained after all. With five dragons on the sands and three eggs still unhatched. There were at least 7 chances as she saw it. Well, 6 if you discounted the dud egg. Zen was fairly sure that one was a true dud. There had already been an atypical hatched and if they were supposed to be rare she couldn't imagine there being four of them in this clutch. There was the chance that those last two eggs weren't atypicals too though and Zen shook her head. It was too much to keep track of and trying just irritated her.

Zen felt something bump her thigh and jumped sideways, taking a hasty defensive posture as the passing bronze she smirked. "I wish buddy. As far as I know though you don't go for girls like me. So unless you know something I don't you'd better move along." Her last words were made harder. She wasn't about to let herself get pushed around by him. She liked her organs were they were.

With a last glance at the boys the Bloodstained blue hastened forward through the ranks of girls, keeping his wings tucked close as his eyes whirled yellow. After a few moments he gave a little cry and changed course abruptly, skittering forward to press himself against Shelev's legs.

The Welcoming blue meanwhile managed to work out which way was up and climbed carefully to his feet, surveying the scene around him with bright blue eyes. Giving a little 'chirp!' he started towards the candidates, seeming to be heading for the female candidates. Burning started off not long after him but the brown moved at a sedate pace, it seemed that he was in no hurry whatsoever. Perhaps he already knew where he was going, or even who he was going to?

Springing seemed to have had his fun with the girls now; he bade them farewell with a cheerful call and moved on towards the boys, where Suspicious was moving slowly from boy to boy giving each one a very hard look indeed before moving along.

Fadrin nodded, wincing as he did, thankful for the offer from Vee - now V' - and raised his hand to touch the bandages across the left of his face. It ached something fierce but the bleeding was subsiding and the padding hadn't soaked through... he could feel the beginning of the clawmarks on either side of the bandage and Fadrin hesitated... did he want to know?

He missed the first exchange between Baevith's and Karath's riders but he didn't miss the icy tension that settled into the group. He sighed deeply and laid his head back, waving at them, "Don't argue right now, okay? I don't need another dragon in my face and I swear by the seasons that I'll box the ears of the first person to swing... rider OR dragon." There was a curious edge of promise among the exhausted tones - now was not the time and he wanted none of their shaffing attitude.

Conroith rumbled at Baevith's response, cocking her head, So you're upset that she jumped on you? Would you be as upset if I did the same...?

When Karath stepped aggressively forward, shouting her insults, Conroith lashed her tail as she stepped between them, Not here. There are wounded here. Do NOT hurt Mine. Still new to the whole mediating thing, she rumbled unhappily then arched her neck toward V' and crooned, That. Consider that!

Thankfully Karath backed down when sense hit her rider and Conroith settled at well.

Then Sirinth was approaching and Conroith called out happily, forgetting about the two angry individuals to check on the new dragon and her rider. Mine! Your friend, your Kylerr, is here! He is whole!~ The green was terribly pleased with that finding - it made the pain of her and Hers worth it. You sing pretty sister! I am glad you are well!

"...Kylerr?" F'in asked, sitting up a bit as his dragon all but bounced around the new arrivals, "He's okay? Thank goodness." He smiled, squinting as he looked around. He agreed with Conroith's 'worth it' sentiment.

"Take it easy F'in, we're good for now... though if you'd keep an eye on things - ha! Sorry. - while I get the meat, I'd appreciate it." With a shake of her head at the unintended pun and a rather hard look at both her own and Jameson's dragon she set off across the Sands towards the feeding tables at a jog.

Baeveth flicked the tip of her tail and shrugged her wings at Conroith. she now included Karath in her words too, She would put the time to good use.

The Springing bronze chortled as he approached the male candidates. It was unfortunate many were staring at him! That didn't slow the bronze down though as he slipped behind a small cluster and quick as a flash, nipped at the back of one's tunic. He gave a quick tug before letting the boy go and bouncing out of arm's reach, a merry green sparkling in his eyes as he danced around them. He stopped in front of Maldryk and with a mischievous flash of teeth he brushed along the boy must like the gold had...though maybe with a little more 'oomph' to it!

The Suspicious brown turned from the candidates he was carefully inspecting and gave a wary glance at the larger hatchlings antics. He seemed harmless... Suspicious returned his attention to the boys in front of him, moving past the bronze to look over one of the candidates near the middle.

Neither seemed to pay much attention to the Burning brown's approach. His unhurried approach was calculated specifically for that purpose even as he lowered his head and a flash of yellow crossed his vision. The smaller brown crouched, slinking low along the sands as he converged on the two males already so close together. Then, without even a hiss or growl of warning the burning brown lifted one clawed hand and smacked the Suspicious brown across his thigh. He then darted in the opposite direction and around a candidate, out of immediate sight as the fallout started.

The Suspicious brown hissed in surprise as he turned, teeth bared and snapped at the bronze behind him. Betrayal shone from his face, then surprise, then immediate anger. He rose up on his hind legs and twisted in the air, coming down facing the bronze with wings mantled and claws out.

Springing on the other hand was more surprised than anything else by the brown's sudden aggression. He 'blorted' in confusion and took a step backwards into Maldryk. Suspicious lunged, causing the surprisingly agile bronze to leap sideways and completely avoid the collision. The suspicious brown didn't continue the attack though as he took his place beside Maldryk satisfaction soothing his demeanor as his eyes whirled with color up at the young man.

He has made a mistake MyMaldryk. Dobrokoth won't let anyone threaten you.

The suspicious brown wasn't the only satisfied looking dragon on the sands though as the Burning brown slunk away unseen by his brothers. The warmly colored dragon made his way towards the girls, content to let the others stew behind him.
