Being towards the end of the competition seemed to mean that the dances were generally getting better.
There were an even amount of Graces and Erotes left, observed Voluptas. Two of the competitors surprised her--Pothos, the longing, mopey one of the Erotes, and Aglaia, the Grace who spent so long hiding in the shadows after the mess she was involved in last year. She liked seeing them, though. Seeing them coming towards the finals along with the others helped hold her interest.
Freestyling wasn't something that Pothos and Apple Bloom were perfect at, but dancing together that whole time seemed to have given them some level of comfort with it--or maybe the mortal was just a good dancer in the first place. They were entertaining to watch--surprisingly, Pothos had never hit her as particularly ... well, spritely--and it was enough to hold Voluptas' attention through the whole dance. They had made a big change from their days of ones, deserving a 7 for this performance.
Parvana had been doing well, even completely on her own. Previously, it seemed that Hedylogos' presence was only bringing the mortal down, but this round, something seemed to click. Perhaps it was because they were allowed to dance however they pleased? Perhaps Parvana's solo skill matched well with how Hedylogos was dancing. She gave them a perfect 10 by the end, excited by just how good these dances were.
Aglaia and Kratos had been consistently good, and it seemed that the freestyle was of no exception. It made sense--they were consistently good together, so something that allowed them to pick the dance they were consistently best at and dance? Of course it was going to turn out well! Since it was not quite as fantastic as the team with the solo salsa dancer, Voluptas gave them a 9.
Unfortunately, the lack of choice seemed to be awful for her cheerful Aunt Euphrosyne and partner Lucius.
They were once dancing well, but that was ... that burned her eyes ... that was awful. What were they thinking? That wasn't much of a dance at all! It looked like they were just flailing around like chickens with their heads cut off. Blech. 1, and they were lucky she couldn't give out zeroes...

The final tally for Day 8 is as follows:
Dylo + Parvana = 44
Aglaia + Kratos = 40
Pothos + Apple Bloom = 37
Euphrosyne + Lucius = 33
Day 8 Winner is Dylo and Parvana!
Good job! Your second win of the contest, and with amazing freestyles!
And the pair with the lowest score is Euphrosyne and Lucius. I'm sorry my lovely dear, good effort, but the others just were a little more creative. Time to leave the dance floor. Don't forget to come to my engagement party! Presents are encouraged!

She grinned and laughed. "See? We can do it, Pothos!" she said as she danced, having a ton of fun. She giggled a bit as Pothos flailed, but he was trying and that's what counted the most, right? "You're doing great!" she said cheerfully.
She'd never heard of the next dance, but as she looked around it didn't seem so hard. So she gave it a shot and giggled as she did. It was a really silly dance.

"Oh... well thank you..." he said, blushing softly. Pothos actually couldn't help but laugh. Hey, they had made it into the top three! Who would have known? But what on Telrunya was this next dance... he was sure he hadn't ever even heard of it, but... it did look easy enough. "This seems right silly... but if Mother requests it..." he sighed, clapping his hands together, wiggling his hips around and waggling his fingers off into the air like some weird finger butterfly.

Down to the final three--things would get exciting now, right?
Pothos and Apple Bloom had made it surprisingly far--at least, surprising to Voluptas. Someone who spent most of his time stumbling over himself and bumbling around had managed to match up with this mortal and create an interesting show. Even the ones they occasionally earned did not seem to knock them out. Perhaps the judges all liked their new confidence... or maybe they were energized by it, even in ridiculous songs of Venus' choice. The performance wasn't great, though, probably due to unfamiliarity.
So they got a 5. Not horrible, but could have been much better.
Dylo and Parvana's performance was definitely better. She would not have called it much better, but it was indeed better. Voluptas was pleased to see that two people that seemed so utterly out-of-sync before--especially since Parvana had only done great by herself--were finally bringing it together together and performing well as a united front. She gave them a 7 in this round.
Aww, Aglaia.
Kratos.
"No, no, no, no, no," stated Voluptas, shaking her head in frustration. "That's not how you do it..." Quietly, she performed some of the motions herself--she had seen Venus instruct people to perform the dance before, after all--shaking her head in shame once again. That was terrible. Just terrible. Did they really think they were doing that right?
Voluptas sure didn't, and that was why she granted a 1.
