Leo could hear the water running and shut off before he heard his brother's footsteps downstairs but he was a bit startled that he was told to open his mouth. "You're not going to trick me like the last time you told me to open my mouth, are you?" he asked suspiciously as he rubbed his itchy nose.

That sounded very tempting, but humor has no place here right now. "It's not April Fool's Day, Leo. I won't trick you," Asher said, though he had to smile at the memory. "It's just a thermometer." He proved his point by making one end of the object touch his brother's lip. "Now, open up. I need to check your temperature."

Leo grumbled at his brother. "Stop smiling, that was not a fun day for me." he pouted, even though he couldn't see he could still tell when his brother was smiling by his tone of voice. It seemed that his brother was telling the truth about the thermometer and decided to open his mouth for his brother.

Asher proceeded to stick one end of the thermometer under Leo's tongue, tapping his chin to prompt him to close his mouth. "Now, just keep it there for a few minutes," he instructed, already counting the seconds. He counted up to around one hundred eighty when he took the object and read the temperature. "Looks like you're at 102 degrees. You better get some rest."

Leo was a little disappointed to hear that his temperature was up a little high, he knew walking in the rain all that time wasn't good for him. "I'll sleep after dinner. I'll even go to bed early." he said softly, looking forward to sleeping later that night so he could have another chance to see the missing woman. "I think we need to have a 'welcome to the neighborhood' party for the new neighbors. Did you know there are four of them in that tiny apartment? And Samuel's little sister is deaf, it's actually kind of comforting to know that." he said softly as he continued to eat.

Asher began partaking in his own soup, listening to his brother. "I did meet them earlier, so I did already know they all lived together. It's kinda crazy," he commented. "His sister is deaf? Well, I feel bad for her, but at least we won't have to worry about Samuel and his friends being jerks to you. They did treat you well, right?" It seemed like a redundant question, especially considering Leo wasn't speaking badly of the neighbors, but Asher wanted to know what he had been doing when he was at their apartment.

Leo stifled a laugh at his brother's question. "Yeah I suppose they treated me okay. I'm just not used to so many people in one room so it was a little overwhelming but in a good way. And you shouldn't feel bad for his sister being deaf, having an inability in the senses is something to be proud of really. We see the world differently than everyone else does, it's what makes us unique. Besides she isn't feeling sorry for herself, she's actually a rather nice girl...I think, I mean I couldn't see how nice she was but she was at least helpful. They were making smoothies when I got there, I brought a cup home for you to try if you wanted to." he said with a smile, now finished with his sandwich and deciding to drink his tomato soup like it was milk left over from his cereal instead of just using his spoon.

"Well, I'm glad they were friendly to you," Asher remarked, currently amused by his brother's eating habits. "Do you have any way of communicating with Samuel's sister, by the way? I'm guessing she knows sign language, though how is she going to be able to talk to you?" He figured one of the other neighbors could be something like a translator between them, though he did wonder how the they would talk to each other when alone.

Leo thought about his answer while he drank his soup, once he had enough for the moment he set it down and wiped the red mustache off his lip. "I'm not sure, I've been trying to think of ways we could talk with each other but I can't think of anything. I've heard of people who are blind and deaf being able to sign, and when they want to know what the other person is saying they put their hand on the other person's while they're signing. So they can feel the signs the other person is making. But that's really hard to do, I don't know many signs as it is, just the little bit I learned from those baby signing time videos mom used to play for me when I was in grade school." he said softly, this was one of the moments when he wished he wasn't blind, but he was sure he could compensate somehow.

"Maybe you can write letters onto her arm or something," Asher suggested, finishing his own soup. "It might be useful, and at least you can be assured you have her attention. I doubt you two will be alone much, anyway. If her brother is anything like me, he'll do his best to stay by her side."

Leo smiled and nodded before he drank the rest of his soup but then his nose started getting plugged up. "Okay I'm done with dinner....will you help me into bed?" he asked as he pushed his bowl away from him, feeling quite tired and very much looking forward to bed. Leo wondered if he would have another dream about the missing woman or if these dreams picked and chose when to pop up.

Asher made no reply, but he got up and led Leo to their room anyway. "Will you be okay?" he asked as he tucked his brother in. "Those nightmares might be helpful, but they worry me sometimes." He set a damp rag on his brother's forehead to cool him down a bit. "Don't hesitate to call for me if you need me." As much as he tried to convince himself that Leo wasn't a little kid anymore, he still couldn't help seeing him as one. Must be a brother thing.

Leo smiled and snuggled into bed. "I'll be okay, they're just dreams. They can't hurt me." he said reassuringly as he yawned a couple of times. "Will you be coming to bed soon too?" he asked, Leo always felt a little safer when his brother was sleeping in the same room as him.

"Yeah. I just need to finish my own dinner and wash the dishes. It shouldn't take too long," Asher replied, running a hand through Leo's hair. "Do you want me to stay with you until you fall asleep?" He took a seat on the edge of the bed, waiting for his brother's answer. Leo looked so darn peaceful right now, though he knew that peace would be shattered soon.

Leo smiled but shook his head. "No it's okay. You'll just be downstairs for a little while anyways. I should be alright." He said softly, taking the bandage off of his head and setting it on the nightstand. "We should do some laundry tomorrow, I'm not sure how many more clean clothes I have left." Leo said as he turned onto his side to try and sleep.
