"More people means more to attack and defend," John returned calmly. As the ground shook, he scowled. "Let's not get pinned in a room with one exit." He followed Scarface back out and down the stairs. Unfortunately, in the intervening time, the ravening horde had made its way into the halls. The glint of multiple eyes in the dark made John pause on the stairs, reaching out to grab at Scarface's jacket before the man could rush headlong down into the mass. "Don't jump into the middle of them," he cautioned. "Make them come to us. Killer and I have a longer reach than you do, so let us go in front; you make sure there's nothing circling around to get at us from behind." He edged down the stairs, motioning Killer forward with him and taking a solid grip on his table-leg club. Something small and fluffy came flying at their ankles, and he started to take a swing at it ... then halted, his eyebrows jerking up in surprise. He hadn't expected the attacking monsters to be cute little fairy dogs. "What the ******** - ow!" It had bitten his ankle, and he kicked it off. It bounced back to its feet, yapping furiously. "I repeat," John said, " what the ********: 28/30

"Well for all I know, I didn't leave those there..." she looked at the picture again, feeling that guilt sink in her chest again. "Or maybe I did.....I really don't remember." Either way, she had no plans to just jump back into bed with him at this point, so the playfulness in his tone went ignored for the most part.
She eyed his boxers for a second, before looking up at him, raising her brows. "I really suggest you at least put pants and shoes on. Just in case we have to go outside at all." Because she was not being seen out in public with the pantless man. In the house? Fine. But public? Nope.
At least that was what she was rolling with until the black mist started to filter in through the window. "What the living hell is that?" she asked, not really expecting him to know, but taking that knife out of the holster she'd put on, holding it with both hands.
When it formed, however, she kind of felt like she'd overreacted...
"Hey, it's kind of cut-" Cass reached out to pet it and the little thing bit her hand oh ******** you. She hit it. Not like a punch-the-dog-abuse thing, but a 'YOU JUST BIT ME' response.Cass's HP: 28/30 Minipet HP: 10/10 Damage: NOPE

Scarface's hand gripping the knife was shaking, but he listened to Uni all the same. It felt natural, at least, but the terror gripping him was difficult to shake- the blackness was seeping in around them, it was going to smother them, and he was going to scream again- until the eyes suddenly appeared. His knife hesitated, "W-w-what... what are these things?" He managed in disbelief as the strangest creature he had ever seen leaped around him in a traili of rainbows. He lowered his knife a moment. That merely gave the creature opportunity to strike, leaping at the scarred and jump-suited man with a terrifying "NYAN NYAN!!" He gave a yelp and a snarl, rolling with the creature down a few steps before he managed to slash at it's strange pastry-like hide with the knife. HP: 28/30 Damage: 1 Minipet HP: 9/10

The trembling worsened, as beady eyes loomed in the smoky darkness. His heart pounded so fiercely he feared his ribs would bruise from within. But as the smoke cleared for the tiny little creatures that first came to light, he felt conflicted. But they were fluffy! And Cute! And... Vicious teeth.. bloody fur.. glowing skin. Nope. Not cute. One less than adorable creature leapt at him and bit his ankle. The blond yelped and tried to kick it away, but it had already jumped back. Hoodie's HP: 28/30

Scarface gave a yelp of pain as the creature latched on with tiny sharp teeth. No amount of rolling down the stairs seemed to help, but at least he had joined the rest of the group. HP: 26/30 Damage: MISS Minipet HP: 9/10

This time, when the fluffy little creature darted in to n** John again, he was ready for it. It was small, it was cute, it was totally unthreatening-looking, but a lot of tiny bites could be just as bad as a few larger ones, and anyway, he remembered the siren and the alarm announcing biohazard containment breach. The table leg thumped into the little dog's side with an unsettlingly solid sound, and the creature went skidding away with a piteous yelp. "Seriously?" John grumbled, pained. "I feel like a monster here." HP: 26/30 Damage: 3 HP: 7/10

Scarface rolled with the creature across the floor, and with a wild yell, he brought the knife down into it's crusty hide, staining his jumpsuit and hands with blueberry blood. HP: 24/30 Damage: 3 Minipet HP: 6/10

The creature came snapping back, flying from the ground to attack Hoodie again. He flinched and swung his skateboard down on the creature. It bounced off the ground with a comical squeak, before launching itself at his knee. He hissed and swatted the grotesque critter away. Hoodie's HP: 26/30

This time, when he swung the improvised club at the fairy-dog, it dodged upwards, proving that those fluttery little wings were actually functional; little claws flailed into his face, scratching his cheek, and he batted it away with a yelp. He was sharply aware of the sheer absurdity of the situation. They were engaging in a life-and-death battle for the facility with tiny cute flying things. And the tiny cute flying things seemed to have the upper hand. HP: 24/30 Damage: nope HP: 7/10

The fact such a small thing could get the upper hand on him was absurd. But the last thing he wanted was to get infected by whatever this thing so obviously suffered from. It sure looked like a zombie, after all. The runt came back at him again, scratching at his leg. Rather than use his board, Hoodie punted the creature across the room with his bare foot. It kind of hurt, but it felt oddly satisfying watching it hit a wall and bounce off to the floor. Hoodie's HP: 24/30

And then the strange pastry cat got a taste of Scarface's filling. It wasn't as sweet as blueberries. The knife went tumbling from his hand as he tried to hold the thing off. HP: 22/30 Damage: Miss Minipet HP: 6/10

It rushed at his face, scratching and nipping; he shoved it back with the sharp splintery end of the table leg. He wasn't feeling quite as bad about hurting the cute little creature, now that it was proving itself to be relentlessly aggressive. HP: 20/30 Damage: 2 HP: 2/10

It nipped him again; this time, though, when he smacked it to the floor with his improvised club, it made a disturbing crunching sound and stayed down. After a moment, it dissolved into a cloud of black smoke, which drifted away towards the ring of beady little eyes that had been observing the fight. A low chorus of growls and hisses went up from the horde of little animals. John sidled towards Scarface, who seemed to be having trouble with another of the things, this one an odd, vaguely catlike creature. He lifted the table leg, but hesitated. The pastry-cat-thing was attempting to attach itself to Scarface's already-scarred face, and if John tried to hit it, he was just as likely to hit Scarface. "Get it off you and I can help," he called. HP: 18/30 Damage: 2 HP: 0/10

"Oh my god why are tiny little monster things attacking us?!" Zombies he could understand but this... "This is some Jurassic Park s**t!" Lashing out he kicked at a tiny one that was clip-cloppping viciously within reach. Tiny bones crunched satisfyingly underneath his sneaker. "Yeah honey, we're going to need a lot of alcohol if this is what we get to deal with." He rubbed Sin's shoulder comfortingly. "And then we can talk, too." hp: 28/30 damage: 6 enemy hp: 4/10
