Their flurry of arcane scythes let loose a powerful maelstrom over Lucas and Ruby, yet, they were able to defend themselves quite well. Dashing through the madness Ruby reflected what came her way,and Lucas followed effortlessly weaving between the falling blades like a dance. Then, Ruby plunged her blade to the ground and from it came a tidal wave of fire that consumed everything it stretched to. The flames hurt no one, but its magic destroyed any of he remaining arcane scythes soaring over to hurt them. When it was over, she rushed in and jumped using Lucas as her aide, with a grunt he shouted "Now!".
She leapt high like a bird flying towards the sun, and when she got to Laxion Alexis' sythe suddenly appeared as she protected her companion. Yet Ruby was able to jump past it and get to Laxion, yet, his spear sent Ruby hurtling towards teh ground once more. Just then, Laxion's trance was over and his feet touched the ground once more as his eyes returned to normal. Looking around he saw the situation, minus one person. He then felt a thud in his back, Lucas used teh hilt of his sword to wind him. Lucas swung his pear but Lucas wheeled over it like an acrobat before landing and lifting his leg to kick him in the chest. Laxion fell back and to teh floor, his spear thrown across the room behind him.
Meanwhile, Ruby was in a spot of bother herself. Alexis was torn between getting Ruby or protecting Laxion who was now disarmed. "uh" she sighed, seeing Ruby not really doing anything, was she stunned? she took this moment to act on Lucas, placing a ward on the ground she darted forwards in a flurry of magic! She leapt into the air and met scythe with blade as Lucas was able to swing his sword behind him without even looking. "You're predictable Alexis"
"Am I though?!" she shouted from behind Laxion, Lucas double took and gasped, "an illusion". From behind Laxion, Alexis stared past the blur that was Lucas and saw Ruby, something was wrong, they hadn't hurt Ruby had they? No, they couldn't have, Lucas' protection wouldn't allow it. "Stop the duel!" she insisted, just as Laxion started spinning his spear. "Stop it now! Ruby? Are you okay?"
"Ruby?" Laxion asked, staring over. Just then Lucas called back his light and it was absorbed by the hilt of his weapon, the glowing now back home like a bright golden eye.

Ruby
Laxion stopped his fae abilities and the warm green light that encased him disappeared. The galaxy faded from his glowing eyes as he became alerted to what was around him. Suddenly, Lucas took this insensitive to jab Laxion from the back side with his hilt. The wind began to dissipate, but the fae wouldn't give up so easily so he changed his position and whipped his spear at Lucas. Lucas impressive acrobatics allowed him avoid the spear while he moved to entirely different approach. She guessed that he wanted to prove to his students that he had no use for a weapon as he kicked Laxion backwards with his foot. His spear flew past Ruby and clinked onto the tile such as a metal rod would. The albino stared at her teammate trying to match move for move and wit for wit. She fell so far behind and couldn't catch up.
Alexis rushed forward with magic dripping off of her as she pulled the same trick earlier. Lucas though he was so astute that he blocked the female from behind, but her illusions got the better of him. Soon, Laxion was on his feet charge for his weapon and she could have intercepted him if she wanted too. However, something was right about her weapon, and she couldn't put her finger on it. Alexis noticed something was eating away at Ruby and announced for the duel to come to a draw. Lucas treated his light and all of them looked to her like a wounded animal; the wounds weren't visible is all.
"Its heavy..." Ruby chocked out as her weapon dropped out lifeless hands and fell to her knees. "I never knew...the weight I carried..." she snapped back to reality hoping the others didn't think she was insane. "I'm sorry. I know I wanted to spar but I need time to rest. I'm little tired but its no big deal. I'll recover and we can start again...like old times." Ruby tried to regulate her breathing and keep herself from shaking. "You guys should check on, Dante. That's what I named the dog. If you guys don't like it you can change it. He needs good friends to look after him." she smiled, converting to other matters.

As they all gathered around Ruby, she explained the weight of her weapon as it dropped from her grasp, she was out of breath and it was causing Laxion to worry further. Alexis was abotu to ask, but Ruby went on to explain how they needed to check on Dante, she told them all she needed was rest. Laxion felt it difficult to leave Ruby, but he saw Dante nearby and finally nodded to her as he went over. Alexis looked to Lucas, who saw the 'look' and decided to walk with Laxion.
"Are you sure your okay?" Alexis had to ask, getting down to one knee to speak with Ruby. In her chest... she felt something could be wrong, and she cared for Ruby like a younger sister, heck... she could almost be a mother to them now. She went on and said "I know the toll a Jewel can have I just want to know..." she had no idea if it really was the jewel, or if Ruby was just tired and drained. But she wanted to know the truth... But maybe she wouldn't get it... Alexis' tone was almost hurried with concern when she quietly explained "we can go abck to Radiant Bastion, my father can get the crystal ready... we... I... " she sighed, and then looked Ruby in the eyes.
"you would tell us if there was a problem... wouldn't you?"

Laxion walked reluctantly away from her and Alexis suggested through eye contact that the mentor should follow. The motherly woman stayed behind and questioned Ruby in a concerned tone. She hit the nail on the head when she mentioned the jewel, but the albino pretended to have no reaction to it because that would give away her disposition. Alexis was down on knees begging for Ruby to tell her the truth so that they could resolve the matter by going to her Father's house. She asked her at the end if she would tell them if something was wrong, however, she was a coward. They would find out eventually wouldn't they and she couldn't bare this weight alone. Her lips trembled before she looked Alexis in the eyes and tried to surpass her wisdom with philosophical morals. "Would I tell you? I lie and keep secrets for your happiness. That's all I want..." The girl stood up and looked to the others inviting them over. Once they all crowded by her side she glanced to each one of them.
"Laxion, your so chivalrous and have a heart of gold. Alexis, your wisdom and motherly courage inspires everyone on this team to carry on. Lucas, I've always thought of you as the Father I never had and your more than worth to have be their mentor and have been mine," she used present tense for herself because by now they knew where she was leading up too. "I don't know what to say about myself. However, I do have one question for all of you and I need an honest answer..." she bit her lip, and waited for her nerves to calm down before they got the best of her. "What will all of you do when I die?" Ruby couldn't muster the courage to look them in the face when she made that remark; it was to painful.

She saw her lips trembling, she almost reminded Alexis of a small child, unsure of what to do, or say, or even think. Alexis' own lips sealed shut as their eyes stared into each other's. Then Ruby stood and gestured to the others to come to her, Alexis stood up too, and took a step back preparing herself for something that she didn't want to hear, she could feel it in her chest already, that tight feeling... like something you couldn't shake off was pressing against you and always reminding you of that dreaded memory, that distant thought that stars at you with black eyes and mocking gestures.
Lucas and Laxion arrived by her side, Laxion had Dante in his arms. He tilted his head as Ruby went on about telling them their perfections, why she was inspired by them, and it confused them. "An answer..." Laxion murmured as she went on, that same feeling creeping within his own chest.
She said something no one really expected, not really, they maybe thought it, but in their minds they didnt' accept that she would actually say it. Laxion's arms went numb almost from the sudden thought, what did she mean? Why would she ask that? From his arms slipped Dante who leapt to the floor and curled up beside Ruby's feet, Alexis and Laxions tared at her face as she looked away. "You're not going to!" Alexis exclaimed, "No time soon, you won't, you can't."
"Ruby..." Laxion began, his astral eyes glazed with what could soon become tears, "... Why are you asking us this?" then Lucas finally spoke, and he said "Ruby, what do you need to tell us? "

Ruby knew this information would be to overwhelming for them to handle, but keeping secrets from them was wrong. Laxion's arms became limp noddles and Dante slumped right out of his arms, and walked over to her curling up. The demon dog was content back her feet and she didn't instead on moving him because his comfort soothed her. Of course, she didn't receive separate answers like like she wanted. Alexis protested at the top of her lungs which wasn't surprising sense she's immortal and expects to see their lives through until old age. Being the youngest of the trio, it must be difficult to accept such a ludicrous thought. Laxion's eyes held the galaxy in them and the tears he shed were just as mesmerizing. Lucas was demanding an explanation in a passive aggressive way and finally the inner child with in her was brought out. She began sobbing like a baby and the words poured out of her mouth like a waterfall. Expect, they were unpleasant and she knew the others would suggest or try everything to stop the enviable.
"I'm coward in every sense of the word. My time is up. The jewel is breaking and its taking me along with it. I can't stop it. I'll have to use it once we fight Lucifial and once I do it will shatter. I'm going to die. I didn't want to say anything because I can't bare to see you all sad. Most of all, I'm thinking about myself. What if it hurts? I'm scared...I'm scared..." The child hugged herself as she fell to her knees crying. Dante stood up and nudged her and she gave him a pat for being silently supportive. "I'm so sorry..." She whispered to all of them.

Ruby, who was once a hardened, almost lifeless fighter had never shed so many tears. When she cracked like an egg, Laxion felt it hard to contain himself as tears began to fall silently and slowly down his cheeks. Ruby confessed it all, she was dying, the Jewel was coming to it's end and without it Ruby was going to become nothing too. Ruby already planned what she had to do, and it was to save Occulas from a horrific end of terror and deception.
Alexis kept shaking her head in denial, but when Ruby admitted she was scared, Alexis couldn't take it any more. "Y-you can't" the blonde announced with a collapsing voice, giving in to torment, "It won't be painful because it won't happen, i promise you! Nothing will happen, I can take you to Radiant Bastion, we'll do something, anything-"
"Ruby knows that isn't an option" interrupted Lucas, his hand now placed on Ruby's shoulder as his breaking yet still-calm face stared to each of them. His eyes, his cheeks, you could see the glisten of tears gathering yet he did not let the weakness show, you could see his cheek muscles tightening as he kept his mouth tight. "...Ruby..." Lucas then added, "Are you sure that is what you want to do?" he asked, discomfort in his face as he forced the words out. Laxion was still speechless, and Alexis gawked in horror, she didn't know how to react to this, but under his breath as she finally buried her head into Laxion's statue-like chest, she mumbled "You don't know - what its like to lose some-someone.". But Laxion stared at Lucas and Ruby, barely even reacting to Alexis' crying torso pressed against his shoulder.

Alexis was utter devastated because she thought of her as a little sister and Ruby through of her as a sister/mother figure. Claudia was there of course, but the bond between her and Alexis was stronger than anything. Laxion probably mentally ensured himself that this wasn't real and she was playing a cruel, sick joke on them. Tear silence fell down his marble cheeks as Alexis suggested the leave to Radiant Bastion. Who would be an expertise on the jewel and fix it in time? No one. Darkness was devouring the lands and people are fleeing leaving everything behind like their jobs, houses, and valuables. Demons are increasing and if they wanted to make it to their destination they would have to waste time slaughtering them all.
Lucas recognizes what's at stake and knows as well as she does that defeating Lucifial is the right choice. He cupped her tiny shoulders and gazed into her watery red eyes asking if this is what she wants. Ruby selfishly doesn't want to sacrifice herself for Magic Earth, but the lives of everyone else out weighted her own. The enviable was going to come because she knew that the jewel increase her chances of killing the Lord of Deception. She gently placed her hands over Lucas's, "More than anything, I want to see you all live on and smile. You gave me purpose and a reason to live...all of you are my legacy. Yes, this is what I want to do. I'm not dead yet so as one last selfish request, can we spend what little time we have happily together?" Ruby admired Lucas's composure even though he wanted to mourn like the others. She desired to be as strong as he is so with heavy heart, she wiped her tear, and forced her aching lips muscles to grin. The child stood up and hugged Lucas tightly while gesturing for the others to join in. Watching them cry was to much for her so hid her face in her instructor's stomach. There wasn't much she could really do expect change the sad atmosphere into a more comfortable, pleasant one.

Lucas felt her place her hands over his, but by now her touch was even a warm welcome on his cold skin, it almost overwhelmed him, and made his tears want to flow more rapidly. He nodded at her for what she said, but that then suddenly turned to shaking his head as he swallowed and gathered himself, he wanted to tell her not to speak like it really was the last time thye were going to see each other, or be happy - yet she changed the subject already, and was doing exactly what he wanted to say. So, his shaking returned to nodding. Alexis released herself from Laxion and said I'd like that-" but then the great doors to the hall creaked open, the rattle of wood being thrust open as two great hands pushed through.
It was Lysandiel, that was obvious by how tall he was, and how how beautiful wings woven from light emerged from behind him. The hooded figure said "The City of Crows is in more unrest than I first thought". Lucas cocked a brow and stepped forwards to the divine being, and Lysandiel stopped metres away from them, his wings beating once before becoming still, waving slightly as if it were light cloth in the morning breeze. "One of En'radial's lieutenants has lead an assault on the city, i fear the Patron of Sorrow has come under the influence of Lucifial after En'radial's failures in the past. I've sent for my own volunteering angels to aide against the battle, though, i was unable to gather many." his faceless hood turned to Team Elixer and he admitted "the Angels of the Heavens do not proudly support your world anymore. If it were not demons they would not be here at all"

Lucas wanted to support her decision even though he was in disbelief. She didn't think that the thought of losing one of his students ever crossed his mind and now his worst nightmares were coming true. The albino spoke as if she was on her death bed, but tried to maintain the grim subject as much as possible. Alexis implicated that she was on board with spending the rest of their time together smiling. Laxion remained in his statue-like state as Ruby got up allowing the angelic instructor to move away from her so she could go to Laxion. She gently placed her hand on his arm, and smiled at him with her runny nose and puffy eyes. Prefect face for a photo, she said to herself inwardly knowing she was a complete mess. She couldn't cry anymore because she felt like her tears have dried up which she considered a good thing.
The doors creaked open and the Angel of Redemption, Lysandiel, and the light from his wings were outlining his exterior. His amour glistened and the small rays of light reflecting off it danced around the room which made Dante excited. He acted like a feline as he followed the bouncing lights leaving the group to listen to Lysandiel's distressing news. Apparently, the demons waging war in the Land of Crows has gotten worse and Ruby could only image the devastation. The flap from his winds gave her a relieving breeze of warm that an angel of mercy would provide since the other angels have abandoned them. En'radial's second in command was stomping through the city, causing mass genocide, and the angels were to busy shunning the earth because they were to ignorant. Perhaps, they would like the end the human race themselves since they were so applauding to look at. "It sounds like we don't need them anyway." Ruby protested quietly knowing at least one of them heard her. "Why can't we go over there now and aid the Shadowmancers?" Ruby questioned, wondering why that hadn't done that yet.

Laxion heard Ruby's small remark about not needing help anyway, he could only nudge his shoulder as he repositioned his body in response to let her know that he heard, and wasn't sure what to say about the circumstances. Though, then, she brought up a good point, why hadn't they helped yet? Lucas looked at the young blonde and then Alexis looked to Lucas, "that's right... why haven't we?!" and then, Lucas' chest felt tight, he couldn't help himself as images of Nyru's face flashed in his mind. Laxion stepped forwards suddenly, almost leaving Ruby behind him as he said "What have we been doing?! You can make a portal Lysandiel, please! We must-" but Laxion was cut-off by Lucas' very firm yet calm response. He said "We cannot go to the Land of Crows." there was a moment of silence, no one wanted to question him, his firm tone was quite scary, actually, for once something made him sound agitated, but was it them or what he was about to say making him appear so... angry?
"The Queen, Declasia, refuses to let any outsiders into the city until all circumstances have been put back under control."
"What?" Alxis questioned, hope fading in her eyes, LAxion then begged "She can't do that though?"
"She can. She is not a part of the Guildeam and so we have no power over her kingdom. I would assume her shadowmancers have erected powerful charms in order to stp anyone else from opening portals to the city or nearby areas - in a defence against the demons i would hope..."

Laxion caught her rebuttal and moved his positions discreetly until the, however, he released how important her next statement was. There was virtually nothing holding back and soon Alexis joined into the rally. Her sister is out there risking her life and Nyru is by her side warding off the demons. Ruby leaned over to see the paleness in Laxion's face as he worried about Nyru sense the two have been so close. It was obvious the element wouldn't give up until Lysandiel summoned a portal. Although, Lucas put a stop to their nuisance and no one wanted go against his authority even thought Ruby felt like she was obligated too. His point for not going was reasonable, they counted as outsiders and the Queen made it clear that the lands affairs weren't controversial.
It was amiable for the others to find a loop in the terms and conditions, but they were stuck. Declasia isn't part of the Guildeam like Lucas claims so she can't be pursued. Not to mention the protection charms around the land to keep invaders out and everything else sealed in. If they had a chance to go they would have been gone a long time ago instead of huddling together crying. Ruby thought of a possible solution, and it really wouldn't hurt to ask since the team is in a stalemate anyway. "This may sound like an excuse, but technically I am from the Land of Crows. I was exiled, but I still originate from that area. Could I infiltrate the field?" she asked innocently.

Laxion and Alexis hung their heads as they felt like they could do nothing, whilst right now in another country, the City of Crows was fighting a battle and their loved ones could be in trouble. Laxion merely stood there, not wanting to say what he was thinking, he knew that Nyru would be on the front line... he always was. What if something happened to him? Ruby then asked a question, and Lucas listened intently, but after she replied, like the teacher he was, he asked "But you were exiled." and that was all he said for those few moments. "I cannot jeopardise the Syndicates relations with Queen Declasia... as much as I want to help them, as much as you all do, we need to let her defend her city-"
"Do you know anything about the battle, Lysandiel?" Laxion asked, and Lysandiel's hood turned to face the fae-elemental. The hood slowly nodded just once. "My brothers just arrived, and I now now that Zarazax has been struck down. " he paused for a moment "many men and demon lay dead on the round... the last i heard, a woman with wings, as if to be an angel, appeared in the sky. I asked for word on your friends, though i do not know them, i believe my brothers successfully found their descriptions. "
"And?" Alexis asked, Lysandiel replied "They were spotted not far from the centre of the battle... beneath a small barrier of dark magic. I've received no more information since". At that moment Laxion began to wonder why they were under a barrier, he's not fighting Laxion thought to himself.
Why isn't he fighting? he then suddenly asked himself, at first he thoght it was good, but no... Nyru would never give up. Why isn't he fighting?! Why didn't Lysandiel say that Claudia and Nyru were spotted fighting together, like Nyru said they always do. But... they were hiding. Laxion didn't realise it, but he was staring at the ground with breath slightly irregular, lost in his thoughts whilst Lucas had been talking "- has already suffered enough". That was all Laxion heard muffled behind his mind, thoughts swirling. What he didn't know was that Lucas was talking about the city in general, it had barely only just left a civil revolt, and uprising, it was low on numbers already.

Ruby's theory was debunked instantly and she felt like she had let her teammates down. They were all helpless and it became more irritating to wait on the sidelines. Lucas could have just lied to her face giving them a ray of hope, but he was a stubborn, yet humble man. The instructor explained the complicated problems between two fractions and Ruby tilled her head acting like she was in a classroom ready to fall asleep. Her head perked up with Laxion mentioned the state of the battle wondering if he contained any information on Claudia and Laxion. The faceless angel nodded, which was a good sign, but alas he only described his fellow angels and the death of Zarazax. The biggest demon was pronounced dead shedding some anxiety from her shoulders, but not the others. Lysandiel continued his update with the countless fatalities of demons and soldiers, still leaving Claudia and Nyru untouched. Finally, he described one of the team members and it had to be that gypsy girl they had met last year on during Christmas. She was the only other member traveling with the two shadowmancers that she knew of anyway. Although, she didn't recall the gypsy having wings so it had to be someone else he was talking about.
Alexis urged him to go one when he admitted that he didn't know their names, but the angels described them as the remaining survivors. Apparently, they are located near the center protecting themselves with a barrier of shadows. The question is, who is cast the shield and why? Basically, the fight is over from what she heard from Lysandiel, right? Lucas conversed with Lysandiel a little longer as Ruby catch the sound of Laxion's stuttering breaths as if he was having a panic attack. The albino glanced to Alexis for her motherly support as they gravitated to the boy. Dante ran up and nudged Nyru gently from behind as Ruby looked up at him. "Don't worry. They'll be fine. You know they've been in worse scraps than this." she tried to convince him.

He suddenly felt the nudge of Dante at his feet and it woke him from his thoughts, when his eyes focused he saw Ruby already looking at him, and quickly Laxion widened his eyes and put on a stern expression, he was fine, really. Swallowing at what she ahd to say though he just nodded his head, he didn't quite know if talking right now would result in him feeling calmer or worse.
That was when the light, brighter than directly looking at the sun, past outside and swept through the minute gap between the doors ahead of them. the light got duller before a small white wisp came under the door and into Lysandiel's hand. "The battle is over" he said, looking to Lucas, he quickly unscrolled the parchment to see if his contact had further word from Declasia, he waited anxiously... and nothing. "It's not-" he began, but then white scribbles lit up, and with that he closed the scroll and said to Lysandiel "now".
Laxion double-took between Alexis and Ruby at the sudden turn of events, they were going? They were finally going to see them?! Lysandiel held up his palm and before them the air rippled, like it was becoming so hot the air was going to collapse on itself. Just before it seems like he would ruin the space ebfore him though, it took on a golden hue as the centre ripped open and expanded. The angel of Redemption gestured to them to go first, then he would follow. And, obviously, Laxion was first.
