Alexis was deeply focused as the water in front of the box just past the edge of the gorge concentrated and thickened into a four foot wide ramp that curved as it twisted downward, widening in the curve so that the momentum would keep the box on the ramp without letting it fall into the gorge. It stopped roughly a foot from the mouth of the tunnel leading to the cavern and the ramp itself was a little over four inches thick. He shifted his weight, then shoved hard on the box, making it skid before it landed on the ramp and started accelerating. It gained momentum quickly before shooting off the end of the ramp and into the tunnel with a odd sound. He blinked as he pushed off, the ramp glimmering as it dissolved into bubbles and wisps of steam.

Aoi watched intently as Alexis manipulated the water in front of the box. She would have spoken, however, she did not want to break Alexis' focus because that could mean having the box tumble all the way to the bottom of the gorge. Her eyes on the box a majority of the time, she watched as Alexis pushed it onto the ramp and how it moved along the ramp toward the tunnel. As the box shot off the end of the ramp her eyes went wide after hearing a strange noise and she turned to Alexis giving him a curious look. "What in the world was that...? I hope that the box is all right..." she said, all while returning her gaze to where the box had vanished into the tunnel.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. He'd never heard the sound either. "Only one way to find out," he said with a small smile. "For all we know there could be something in there that could give you legs or me a tail... or who knows?" he said with a chuckle as he pushed off and swam towards the tunnel.

Aoi saw Alexis shrugging and she could guess that he did not know what the sound was either, though she couldn't be absolutely positive. She nodded at his words and her eyes widened with excitement as she heard what else Alexis had to say, though she was not going to get her hopes up about that. "That would be great, though we shouldn't get our hopes up too high. And we should probably be careful too, just in case." she said, knowing there was always that chance of something bad being inside the box.{{ooc:}}

Alexis snickered. "For all we know they could have filled it up with sea urchins or something," he said with a shrug as he reached the tunnel's entrance. He was half joking, though it was entirely possible. He was mildly surprised to see the box mostly intact in the freshwater pool, though there were a few scrapes on its top and corners from the rapid travel. He touched it and realized that during the travel the lid had come free. He wasn't sure if Aoi was following him or not, but was startled to find a few daggers that were unlike anything he'd seen before as well as tons of gemstones, coins, and several bracelets, staffs, and chokers, all in silver, gold, or ivory.

Aoi listened to Alexis and she giggled softly. "That could be, though that would be a bit of a let down." she said. She had followed him, though she went a bit slower than he, mostly because she wanted to check on where that little silver fish had gotten to and once she found him she put him back into the pouch she had made; even though the fish resented being unable to swim freely.
When she caught up to Alexis she looked over to the box and her eyes grew wide and she gasped at all the glimmering, shiny things inside the box. She swam right over to the box and took out one of the chokers, trying it on. She also took out some of the gemstones and just stared at them, getting lost in their glittering brilliance.{{ooc:}}

Alexis saw Aoi flitting around the box after putting on a silver and ivory choker with a opal embedded in it and blinked, noticing a marked difference though he was certain Aoi hadn't noticed at all. "Aoi, look down," he said, meaning her tail as he'd noticed something very different instead of the silvery blue tail she usually had: lightly tanned limbs he recognized immediately as legs. He looked through the treasures and paused, spotting a twin to Aoi's choker, hesitating a few seconds before he latched it around his own throat. He immediately felt a shudder of energy shoot up, then back down his spine as he felt his legs itching intensely before the sensation faded. He looked down and gaped. I was kidding about finding something that would do this... me and my big mouth to somehow guess by sheer dumb luck that something could do this, he thought as he concentrated, flicking his new deep reddish gold fish tail; it made him think of a salmon for some reason.

Aoi was so lost in staring at the gems that she did not realize that the choker had changed her dolphin-like tail to a pair of lightly tanned legs. Her attention was jerked away from the gemstone that she was staring at when she heard Alexis speaking and she looked down. She had such a surprised look on her face that she gasped. Although the whole time that she had been getting lost in the beauty of the stones she had not taken a breath, though when she did she choked on the water. 'What...? Why can't I...? Breathe...?' she thought to herself, holding her breath or what was left of it, as she looked at Alexis who now had a reddish-gold fish tail. She tried talking; however, when she did a stream of bubbles came from her mouth. She thought of the choker, though her head was getting a bit fuzzy due to lack of oxygen and she couldn't bring herself to get it off; all the while she started sinking.{{ooc:}}

Alexis reacted without thought, swimming to Aoi with startling speed and unknowingly twisting the opal as he caught her. He heard a soft whistling sound and realized that the bubbles weren't escaping anymore. "Strange, but then, who could have expected this?" he said softly. He lightly tapped the opal, seeing a few symbols flickering around it. He instinctively knew that they meant 'transformation' and 'breathing' respectively, though he couldn't explain how he knew it even to himself.

Aoi's eyes were full of fear of dying and she looked to Alexis, hoping that there'd be some way he'd be able to help her. She closed her eyes and focused on not panicking when she felt Alexis catching her and doing something to the choker. For a moment she felt that she was going to die, but tried breathing again and was able to that time. She choked out the water that was in her lungs before she steadied her breathing. "I-I.... thank you..." she said as she looked at Alexis, her eyes full of gratitude. She looked at her legs again and she thought that they felt strange, though she was a bit happy that she actually had them; although she felt, for the first time in her life, awkward for not having something over her lower half. "I... ummm... I think that I need something for well..." she said in an embarrased sort of way as she flickered her gaze downwards, before looking sideways.{{ooc:}}

Alexis blinked before blushing crimson and spinning towards the box. He found a pair of deep violet-blue shorts with an attached loincloth that looked to be decorated with gold thread and what seemed to be polished mother-of-pearl shells. "I... uhh... I think this should do," he said with some sheepishness. He thought she looked very cute with legs and very attractive. He touched the choker around his throat, not realizing that the tail rippled with light before reverting to his normal legs again. Fortunately, his shorts were still on, otherwise he would have revealed a certain embarrassing part of his body which in that moment had been rather... interested in Aoi's body.

Aoi was still rather embarrassed that she had nothing covering her lower half as she turned her gaze to where Alexis had taken off to so fast. She looked at the shorts and she was a bit curious of them, though she knew what she needed to do with them. She put them on as quickly as she could, though she had some trouble due to her not being used to having legs. She also wasn't the very best swimmer with her legs, however, she was able to keep herself from sinking. "I'm not going to be used to these right away," she said, as she noticed that Alexis had legs again, all while pointing to her own legs. "And thank you again for helping me. I'm really glad that I didn't put this choker on without you here or I'd have drowned... If that would have even made sense for a mermaid to drown..." she added, though as she thought about it she probably wouldn't even be considered a mermaid if she would have drowned; especially since she had legs.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "That's the good thing about the fact that we're on the bottom of the pool, so we can just push off and catch the edge of the openings above.. I'm not all that used to the tail myself, to be honest," he said as he brushed his choker again, not realizing doing so caused his legs to shift to the reddish gold tail again. "Maybe it'd be wiser to stick to what we're used to.. at least until we can get used to this," he said, not realizing he was sinking into a sitting position before he glanced down, blinking as he saw the tail again. "If these things are touch activated, it's going to be a bit inconvenient, since we do tend to swim more often than not," he said with amusement.

Aoi let herself sink the the bottom of the pool and let her new feet touch the bottom. She listened to Alexis as he spoke and she nodded at his words before noticing that he had a tail again. She wondered if he even noticed that he had a tail again and she was about to say something to him about it, though she watched him as he looked down and noticed the tail. "I hope they aren't touch activated, that could be really bad for me if I bump it when I'm too deep. I don't ever want to feel like I am going to drown again. And you're right, although I could learn how to swim with legs and you a tail. It can't be that difficult to do." she said, trying to push herself from the bottom of the pool and move her legs so that she could reach the edge of the opening above; though it was not so easy as she thought it would be.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shifted as he focused, watching the tail flicker and glow before settling as his legs again. "Fortunately it seems they can be triggered at will, which is really good for us. As for swimming with legs, it may be easier to push off the bottom and use both your arms and legs at the same time," he said with a small smile, seeing her struggling a bit as he pushed off lightly before pushing down with his arms and kicking upward with his legs at the same time.
