Bruce glanced up, s**t he thought to himself he had said something wrong. He knew it was going to happen some time but he had really hoped it wouldn’t be so soon. “Hey,” he said softly, trying not to make it any worse than it already seemed to be going, “you dont have to tell me, ever not if you dont want to.” he said simply, it was the truth if he didnt want to tell him well, Bruce wasnt going to make him. “but whatever it is, im not going anywhere… unless you want me to.” he said with a small frown, he would certainly understand if the reason tony was so upset was he realized he probably shouldnt be spending so much time with someone who just, checks out and could kill him and not even hesitate. “I mean, id understand and all, I’m really not everyones ideal friend, im not going to hold you to sticking around if thats what it is.” he said throat getting tighter as he fought off the sadness. So what, he had grown slightly attached to the boy sitting across from him, there are just some people who stumble into your life and you want nothing more then for them to stay from the moment you meet them. Tony was that person for Bruce, but Bruce wasn’t normal and he couldn’t expect people to keep putting themselves in danger just to be around him, it wasn’t fair. So he would just have to suck it up when the day inevitably came that tony wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
"That's not what it is," Tony said, not wanting Bruce to get the wrong idea, but staying guarded. He gnawed his bottom lip; he knew how unfair it was to keep it a secret from the other teen. And hadn't Bruce /just/ assured him he wasn't going anywhere? That he'd still be his friend, whatever it was? Tony felt his barriers begin to come down gradually. "I-- you... you'd have to /promise/ not to..." he swallowed roughly, "tell /anyone/, okay?" His brown eyes were glossy and apprehensive.

Bruce looked at him with a sad frown, “of course i wont, i swear, promise, pinkey swear.” he said extending a pinky, he smiled a bit trying to resist the urge to just reach out and pull tony in and hug him until he felt better, because he still wasnt quite sure that would make him feel better. “You dont have to tell me, Everyone has secrets, i dont expect you to tell me if you dont want to.” he said reiderating that he really didnt want tony to tell him if he didnt feel comfortable. He didn’t want tony to tell him out of guilt or because he felt like he had to, but cause he trusted him. Maybe that was a bit to ask out of someone he had just met yesterday, and Bruce understood that, but he could wait until tony trusted him.
Tony felt himself laugh a bit at Bruce's extended pinkie-- the kind of agreement to secrecy he would have expected in Kindergarden, not high school. Still, it was really sweet, and Tony recognized that if he was going to trust anyone in this world, it would be Bruce-- even though he'd only started getting to know him yesterday, the 17-year old could tell there wasn't a mean bone in his whole body. He shook his head, having made up his mind. "No, I'd like to tell you. But maybe... we could go back to your bedroom?" He'd feel more comfortable in the environment... someplace enclosed, behind a closed door... plus he didn't want Alex overhearing.

Bruce smiled at him, “yes, sounds like a good idea.” he said pulling tony up off the chair and hugging him again, “sorry… Uh, I’m a hugger.” he explained simply…before leading tony back to his bedroom and settling himself on the bed. “you can sit there…or uh here…or…. Anywhere that makes you more comfortable, you know.” he replied again with a comforting smile, he patted the bed beside him in hope that tony would choose that seat but he undertood if he didn’t some people didn’t like to be close to people when they told them their secrets. Well to be honest most people didn’t like to tell people their secrets to begin with, they were usually secret for a reason… Andbruce felt really really special to know tony was telling him.
Tony honestly didn't mind getting all the hugs from Bruce; he'd never been hugged much as a child, and in some small way, Bruce's almost made up for it. "I could use a 'hugger'," he smiled back as he was lead back to the bedroom. He took the offered seat, scooching close to the other teen and leaning his elbows out onto his knees. He took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself before speaking. "You probably don't remember... I mean, there isn't any reason you would, but back in freshman year I was... absent for about two months the first semester... really just a few weeks after school started."

bruce frowned, he felt bad for not remembering but he really didnt. He hadnt paid any attention to tony at all back then, he hadnt even ever spoken a word to him. “I um, no i dont remember.” he said apologeticly. He placed his hand lightly on tony’s leg reassuringly
Tony acknowledged the palm resting on his thigh, enjoying the weight and warmth of it. "Well, it was because I was kidnapped," he said, voice rather deadpan. "A lot of kids rumored my dad sent me off to a fancy private school and that I got kicked out so I had to come back to public school..." He twiddled his thumbs anxiously. "I just let them believe that."

bruce didnt quite know what to do, his mind was telling him that he should reach out and pull tony close to him, and really not even attempt to let go. But there was a part of him… a part he didnt nessacaraly want to listen to that told him that might be going a bit too far. He frowned, squeezing his leg slightly “im going to hug you now.” he said reaching out and actually pulling tony to his chest with his hands wrapped around his stomach. he really hoped he was being comforting rather than making tony uncomfortable, this was really all he knew how to do. “im really sorry that happened, and im really sorry that your friends are so stupid that they didnt even notice how upset you must have been.” he said with a frown, burring his head into tony’s shoulder.
Tony let the hug permeate him; it made him feel like... someone actually /cared/ about him for once in his life. "Well, to be fair, I didn't exactly have a lot of close friends back then." Still don't... he thought to himself, but didn't say it. "And I was in therapy for like a month afterwards," he said, motioning his hand-- the sessions had been painful and he'd just wanted to stop going to them as soon as possible, so he'd learned what to say to hide his feelings and pretend he was okay.

Bruce frowned, “still, ive known you just over twenty four hours and ive noticed” granted he did have the advantage of being abused, and knowing that face to work off of. Not that it was really an advantage, but in this case it helped, he could read people better. He knew when they were lying. “promise you wont feel like you have to hide things from me?” he asked feeling kind of stupid, but he wanted tony to get that he really cared. “i mean if you want to, you can its your choice, but you never have to. Ill always listen, even if im aweful at knowing what to say.” he said squeezing tony tighter, all he knew was when he felt like this, sad, upset, and plauged by past traumas, all he really wanted was someone to hold him, and listen. not to tell him that everything was going to be okay because that was a lie. They knew it, he knew it and what was the point in pretending, he didnt want them to tell him it would all work out for the best. He just wanted them to hold him, and listen, so thats what he intended to do.
Tony nodded, even though there was a lot he /hadn't/ said to Bruce... or well, a lot he hadn't said /yet/. Maybe he would soon. The 17-year old gave his friend a smile, squeezing him back and not letting go. "About that, I've never had someone read me so well... or easily," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck and the short hairs there.

Bruce just smiled, “yeah well i know that face, i make that face, ive spent my life perfecting and hiding behind that face. So its not as hard as youd think to realize when someone else is making it.” he said with a shrug, setteling comfortably into tony’s arms with no intention of letting go until he did. “fake smiles are easy to spot when you know what to look for, im sure you’d know if i was faking too.” he said smiling again. “so you’re good, thats all you need to say, no more talking about it. I should just be a heck of a lot more careful with my word choice from now on?” he asked seriously.
Tony nodded again; one way you could always tell he was emotionally unsettled was when he got quiet and reserved like this. "There's no way you could have known, I don't hold it against you," the teenager said, thinking it probable that sometime Bruce would inevitably mention something that set him off again-- but at least this time he knew he had an outlet. He did feel a little better having told him the truth. "Want to do something fun? I'm tired of feeling all mopey. I wanna do something fun," Tony said, perking up a little.

Bruce hugged him again before responding, “what this isnt fun?” he prodded with a smile, “what do you consider fun?” he asked honestly not sure what other people considered fun. He knew what he considered fun… well it wasn’t everyone’s cuppa tea. Not everyone liked sitting around reading biology textbooks or advanced astrophysical chemistry dissertations.
"No, it isn't," Tony gave the other teen a raspberry. He splayed across the bed on his stomach then, kicking his legs in the air. "We could listen to music. Or play a game. Do you have any games? I brought cards. We could play Poker." He grinned at the kid, mouth pausing for an instant. "Ever played Strip Poker?"

“no, i havent” he said stupidly “what exactly is strip poker?” he asked not really quite knowing… “and why is it that i feel like its a horrible idea to play with you?” he replied with a smile.
"You don't /know/?" Tony grinned ever wider, flipping onto his back. "You know that basically /requires/ me to teach you, right?" He got out of bed and rifled through his backpack until he found his deck of cards.

Bruce stared at him schepticly, “I feel like this could be a pretty bad idea.” he replied, he didnt know what strip poker was… but he probably had an inkling. he twiddled his fingers impatiently, letting out a sigh. This was not going to bode well.
"It involves maaath," Tony attempted to entice the younger student. "You might even be better at it than I am."

“Okay math im good with, the insinuation that i may have to take my cloths off, not so much.” he responded picking up a sweater and an extra pair of socks off the floor behind him and slipping them on just in case that was in fact the object of the game. He was going to prolong it as long as he possibly could.
Tony laughed. "I already saw you mostly naked earlier. But we can play regular Poker, that's fine," he said as he began shuffling. 'Probably better that way,' he thought to himself... though every girl he'd played the game with in the past was so inept he'd never had to remove a shirt, there was the very real possibility Bruce would get the hang of the game and start besting him. And though he'd been understanding about the kidnapping thing, weird-hunk-of-glowing-metal-in-his-chest might be more than Bruce wanted to know.

Bruce glared, “I was supposed to put clothing on before you got here.” he replied with a frown mentally weighing the pros; seeing tony in his undies with the cons; tony seeing him in his, again except this time closer and undoubtedly able to see the scars that covered his skin. hmm, it was a bit of a hard choice if he was being honest. “you know, ive played regular poker before.” he replied, he wasnt all that bad, actually he was pretty good, factoring that in… he figured there was a much better chance he would win. Though he didnt know how strip poker worked there was a chance that if he won… he might still end up naked. “im total rubbish.” he bluffed waiting to see tony’s reaction.
"Oh yeah? Is that so?" Tony rubbed the short goatee on his chin. "Well, Strip Poker is exactly the same as regular Poker: you lose, you take off a piece of clothing, your choice-- I won't be cruel and say my choice. I lose, I take off a piece of clothing of my choice," he explained as he dealt five cards to them both. "So, what'll it be?" he asked, leaving the decision to the other teen.

Bruce grinned on the inside, this was going to be a cakewalk. “well… you have already seen me in my boxers so what do i have to loose.” he replied keeping his face nutrel. However inside he was throwing a slight mental party, he had never lost a game of poker in his life and he was not going to start now. “so, um… remind me the rules again?”
"Well, there's a lot of different combinations of cards, it's more like who has the best hand," Tony said, picking up his cards and evaluating them carefully-- he already had a pair of sixes, but nothing else matched up. "Royal Flush is the highest, then Straight Flush, Four of a Kind... None of those are very likely, as you well know. It's mathematically improbable." He went on, "A Full House is next, then a Flush, a Straight, Three of a Kind... down to Two Pair, Pair and High Card. I'm not telling you anything you don't remember, right?" Tony asked.

Bruce glanced at his cards, Pair of aces. he was going to win, he knew it right then. “so a pair of twos… that would be bad right?” he said staring at his hand with a sad look, resisting the urge to grin. he had a good poker face, and he knew it. “or was i not supposed to tell you that?” he asked.
Tony giggled and rocked back and forth. "It could be worse, you could have nothing," he stuck out his tongue, now /knowing/ he had a better hand than Bruce. "But it could get better. We both get the opportunity to discard and draw the same number we threw away. So like, if you threw away everything but your pair, you might draw another 2- giving you Three of a Kind-- or couple of 2s-- giving you Four of a Kind-- or two of something else-- giving you Two Pair-- or if you're really lucky three of anything else-- giving you a Full House." He smiled at Bruce. "I dealt, so you discard and draw first."

Bruce put down his two, his four and his queen and picked up three new cards. He frowned, though not because he got bad cards, the opposite really. Another ace, and two jacks. Bye Bye tony’s clothing. “well, i tried didnt i” he said with a shrug.
Tony did the same as Bruce, discarding three and picking up three more. He grinned like an idiot at the appearance of another six, because it gave him Three of a Kind. "Yeah, you did," he said, claiming victory as he revealed his cards to the other teen.
