The Count Of Monte Cristo

User Image

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Count remained on the ground until he heard someone question him. His first instinct was that a guard had found them. He grabbed his sword and sat up pointing it at her. A few moments later he dropped it and the pain hit him. This time he did not let out a scream. He just gritted his teeth. Then he looked at the new girl and laid back on the ground.
"We are waiting. Waiting to heal that is." The Count said. He would give her no information past that. He was not sure he could trust her yet and in the current state there plan was on a thin line. One mistake or miscalculation and they would die.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira wavered between awake and asleep, the world going black as the pain grew and returning when it subsided. The Count's sword had done the trick, there was no infection setting in. But it still felt like there was a fire in her abdomen.
She was sleeping when she heard someone scream. At first, it seemed to meld into her nightmare, the one she often had about her family. But as she slowly came to, she realized it was the Count. As she forced her eyes open, she noticed he was trying and failing to complete exercises. It was a scary thought, going into battle with the state they were in. And as if things couldn't get more murky, a figure stepped into the doorway. It wasn't the guard or the troll woman, but someone new entirely. Safira frowned, forcing herself to sit up.
"How did you get here?" She asked with a frown. Was it really that easy to make it past the guards unnoticed?
Elle felt on the verge of fainting. The king, the king, of all men, had asked her to strike him if he dozed off. She could hardly stand in his presence without feeling timid and she was supposed to raise her hand against him?! She could hardly hurt another even in her own defense. Fortunately, another appeared. And he would be much more help to the king than she would be. She knew the man as well as most did. She'd heard about his great acts, how close he was to the king...but he would not be healing him completely. Which meant she would still be needed. "We'll never take the kingdom back this way." She murmured to herself. The entire situation was so hopeless. For all she knew, the princess was lying half-dead on a road somewhere while Skyron was busy checking off a list of people to execute. She knew the longer the queen-to-be remained missing, the angrier the false king would get. She sat against the wall of the cell, closing her eyes. A single tear escaped, sliding down her grimy cheek.
Charlotte looked behind her to double check and see if there were guards coming in their direction, luckily, no. Turning back to face the other two, she gave a good glance at their minor wounds, it would seem that the average human flesh is much slower then that of a mystic creature like herself, that, and she knew of a degen ability that could help them out. It was then, that an idea came to mind.
"I was in a different city at fist, running from a grand Degen master, when all of a sudden I was sucked in this shadow, and poped out into this place. The guards must have thought I was intruding, for they took me away and locked me up. Those brutis, j'espère qu'ils meurent d'étouffement uns sur les autres ..." Charlotte started then mubmled the rest at the end in her own language.
Looking back behind her, hearing faint footsteps with her pointed hidden ears twitching, she looked back to the others, now with haste she had to act. "Listen, I can help you if you can help me, and all I would ask is, to help me get back to where I was originally, with my companions....please.." She pleaded, hoping for a quick respond.
The Count began thinking. They could go to help her but that would leave the city unwatched. They could however recruit a few people in the city, then leave and come back.
"Safira, care to weigh in? We can not stay here forever but also risk leaving the city and coming back to find Lucheston had been executed." The Count said as he stood up again hearing the footsteps.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira shook her head. "This entire endeavor has already distracted me from the quest I'd originally intended for." She said quietly. "But you can leave if you wish to." They might have been thrown together as a pair, but she had to remember what she wanted in the end. When Garanoff was under the right authority, she would be gone, traveling to the great libraries, perhaps even pleading with the oracles. The quest was a good distraction, but she still felt furious, she still had nightmares. This was hardly the solution she needed and going off to help someone else would only make the situation worse.
The Count listened to her then looked back at the new girl before looking back at Safira. "Are you mad at me? Remember that I did not force you to come with us, you came onto my ship." The Count pointed out. He was never good at reading women. That is why he only really fought men. She may or may not have been mad at him, he did not know. "I can take you into the city and find a healer then give you money for a boat." The Count told Safira before turning back to Charlotte. "I can do the same for you, but if I am going with you we need to find Lucheston and tell him." The Count said. It was hard for him to make these choices when the plan was already on a thin string.
King Lucheston Sorrian
The Silver King
As the master of Garnoff's Soaring fortress marched away, escorted by numerous Hunters in his path, the bright wisps which had lingered about the King's torso vanished, leaving the gapping wound visible to the eye once more.
The wound itself had certainly remained similar in many ways, for it's depth and size remained excessive, though the black and yellow of the infection had long since fled. It nearly appeared as if the desease of his festering cut had vanished all together, though Lucheston was familiar enough with the healing arts to not uphold such optimism.
As the sounds of armor faded into minor echoes down the dungeon’s catacombs and stairwells leading up to higher portions of the castle, something spectacular occurred, a rare capability of Enzo’s which often became quite useful to his allies. Where once one could witness the massive gash in the Silver King’s breast, the white wisps returned, swirling about the tissue as they had in their master’s presence to forge new tissue wherever it had been lost. Sorrian was awe stricken as he witnessed the marvelous regeneration, muscle, skin, and lost blood, all crafted as if by Drogum himself.
“Clever Enzo…” Lucheston smiled, speaking words without coughing for the first time in weeks.
Charlotte was at a lost for a moment, did he miss understood her? It was obvious they had intended to do something first, thus why she had offered to help them, but to get help in return. Not to get her help now then help them out later. Charlotte shook her head, peeking behind her quickly before turning back. With hast, the Spire rummaged through her little pouch to find the little p***k, once located, she began to work with the lock in front of her. She only had one shot.
"I'm getting the hint of misunderstanding here. Your not helping me yet. I can see you're busy with things around here, so like i said before; I will help YOU, if you help ME. Not the other way around....Silly..." Charlotte shook her head to dismiss the smile. c***k! The lock fell to the cold ground, as she quietly opened the gate. She then entered, held out her left hand to the Count as a lowly light began to glow, slowly but surely, she was able to finish healing his wound. She then made her way to the woman, knowing she might get scorned, but at this point, what would she care? Charlotte did the same for her, they may still be weak, but at least they wont bleed out or die from fever.
"I heard you mention of a name, might he by an older man with a maid in a cell? If so, I can lead you to them." Charlotte offered, thinking it might be the caged man she saw earlier from when she first escaped her cell. In that case, it would prove to be difficult.
"Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. We are not prisoners. We are simply hiding. Clearly we don't have to now though..." The Count said as he shook his arm a little. "Thank you. When we finish what we have planned to do and I fulfill a promise I made with a Troll, I give you my word I will get you to your friends. Nothing past that." The Count said. He would clearly have a lot of future plans. Once everything was done he needed to speak to Lucheston about peace with the trolls, then he needed to help the new girl get back to his friends.
"If you can get us to him, I would be grateful, if not, we can go. Skyron would not just let him die... I hope..." The Count began thinking. He picked up his sword and set it at his side then dusted off his shirt and pants. When they finally left this dungeon, the first thing he wanted to do was shave. He could feel his beard growing back.
Safira De'Garr
User ImageSafira frowned as she heard the elf mention an old man and a maid in a cell. She didn't know if that was the king they were looking for, but it was a start....she supposed. Still, she couldn't offer her services to another. There were things she needed to do and she didn't want to be beholden to anyone. She looked over at the Count, who was obviously confused. She sighed. "I don't regret coming, it's a job that needs to be done, but I have things of my own I need to attend to." She didn't want to get into the details, as she would have to delve into a history that was best left untouched. "I can find my way on my own." It might have come out a bit harsher than intended, but she was eager to keep people from prying. She looked to the elf, forcing herself to her feet. Her wound was still throbbing, but it didn't feel like a fire in her belly. "Thanks for the offer, but I have to decline."
Charlotte nodded to the count but motioned her attention to the other female with a raised brow. What was her problem? She was more than welcome to do as she pleased, she wasn't asking for her to tag along in anyway if that was what she was getting at. "Au revoir madame" Charlotte replied to the female with sarcasm, taking off her hat and bowing like a proper gentlemen should. When she stood straight once more, her short red curls bounced a bit, showing off her little pointed ears when they did. Heck her red curls would even make Shirley Temple jealous.
"Come, we are running out of time." With that, she motioned her hand to the count for him to follow as she carefully traced her steps, keeping low, and close to the wall. It was during the travel through the castle that the Spire had to take a break to touch her back. The painful motion of her wings trying to break through her skin was becoming rather distracting. If she were to go with the procedure and allow her wings to burst be that they are complete and mature or still frail, would put her in a coma for at least a week. Charlotte shook her head to rid of such thoughts, soon finding her way back to the cell where the elder man sat, and the maiden with him.
Turning to face the count once more, as she stood in front of the old mans cell, she lightly smiled, but was still confused as to the importance of this man. "Be this the man you seek?" She asked in her thick accent.
The Count nodded to Charlotte before turning to Safira.
"I understand you have things you need to do. If you wish, I will not ask you of your goals or your past from here forward. Help us me to put the proper King on the throne and if you wish you will never have to see me again. I will buy you a ship and crew then leave. Just stick with the king and I until we are done." The Count said as he turned to Charlotte. He followed.
When they arrived at the cell he looked in and saw Lucheston. "Time has not been kind to either of us... and it has only been a few weeks since we arrived..." The Count teased as he looked around for guards. "This is just a check up. How is your wound." Monte Cristo had not looked directly at the King, he could not bring himself to look at something that reminded him so much of his past. The King had people who loved him, he had a united family and peace. It had been taken from him. Sure, not taken like when it had happened to The Count but it ended the same. In prison.
King Lucheston Sorrian
The Silver King
Echoes of soft footsteps reverberated off every stone within the dungeon cells, making every small mouse appear like a hoard of rats, and every vigilant guard like a vast army approaching, but the effects were enough to inform a weary king at least that someone, was approaching.
Lain against the cold dirt and stone walls of his cell, the healing wisps of Enzo's clever ruse had long since vanished, leaving his body nearly the same as it had been just the first week after he'd received the cut itself. This still made it quite difficult for the fallen king to move, but fortunately it had afforded him the hope and gusto to return to his feet with far less hacking and coughing.
"Who's there." The noble warrior spoke out, even in his elder age capable of asserting himself with words alone. Re assuming the respectful posture he'd held once before his capture in Tenzonokit, Lucheston prepared himself to meet his son...his executioner, or perhaps by some stroke of luck...his ally. It came to great relief to the king when he finally recognized who it was who appeared from around the corner, a familiar face from Tenzonokit.
"Funny meeting you here young spire." Lucheston smiled.
The Count looked at the wall for a moment as if Lucheston had gone mad before he finally realized what the Fallen King meant. The girl who helped them this time was the same girl who had freed them from their former captures. He did not comment on it. He was grateful and would show that when he got the girl to her friends. Other then that realization he faced the dark corridor ahead of his with one hand on his blade watching to make sure no guards were on the way. Sure they would likely be Silver Knights, who were loyal to Lucheston but still, he would not take the chance of them getting to close and being Hunters.
