Well, I can't say I'm not happy to be getting Ike. As much debate as he is capable of inciting, he'll always be my homoerotic home-boy. And I'll always love him for that. I mean, how could they NOT put Ike in? He's in Brawl for ******** sake.
But this art really takes the cake for worst. Move over, Micaiah. I kind of like the idea for the outfit itself, but between the angles and proportions, what's there to compliment about it? I realize it's the angle, but Ike looks like he lost an arm and went Edward Elric on it with a sword replacement and his crotch looks inhumanly stretched. It's very weird.
The art in general could be seen as a perpetual sort of decline. It started out great. Micaiah's outfit caused complaints but the artwork itself was quite solid. People complained a good deal about other "outfits" that came after that for Elincia and Eirika (I think Elincia looks fabulous, personally). But the art for a very long time wasn't what was being complained about. Then Lyn and Ike came out, and they look so ******** different from anything else and not in a good way.
I just find Ike's art so VERY ugly.
Thrilled about his incorporation, though.

If you had told me that the artist of FE6 and 7's OAs had drawn Ike for DLC, I'd have done backflips and loop-de-loops awaiting it. He's my favorite lord, and seeing him drawn by another past FE artist? Sweetness!
Wouldn't have expected this at all. I saw the art late last night, and many thoughts assaulted my tired head. Why that pose? Why is he so skinny? Did they overcompensate for the steroid charges and make him skinnier? Why is his head so big? Why am I looking at his crotch so much? Crotch lines do that, and there's a lot of space down there. It looks like his legs are about to tear apart. Why did he graft a sword onto his arm? Poor foreshortening. Why such a teeny left leg?
I can't help but be a bit disappointed.
I feel like this would have been much better if the pose was more neutral. Or more natural. The weird pose and derpy foreshortening make it really bad. I mean, it looks like a combination of his FE9 and FE10 appearance, the armor looks more like the colors and shapes from FE10. I mean, the coloring's good and his face looks like a young intense Ike. But that pose...
Is he worse than Micky? All I know is that Tellius got the short end of the art stick. Elincia's fine, but miles above the other two art wise.

I loled on your comment about Ike's crotch. I agree with you and FD that there's too much space, making him looked like he lacks it. However, I agree with both you and FD said about Ike. Terrible pose and foreshortening. Parts of the body look bigger than the other. To be frank, the upper body looks like he's from Sci-Fi. >>;

I don't know what you mean about the Lyn art, FD, her art is fabulous.
Ike's however, is horrible. This was done by the FE7 artist? THIS? Hold on, let me go back and look at the OAs from that game.... wonderful poses, attractive style, proportions, shading.... how is... THIS.. from the same artist?! FE7's art inspired me greatly and I still adore it.. this is such a letdown.

Now I'm gonna have to go back and look at Ike's artwork in more detail. I just clicked out of the screen as soon as I saw it; didn't want to see Ike humiliated like that, I guess.

They don't tend to stay in the same art style. They change, whether it's slightly or more, as time passes on. In fact, if you compare the art from the earliest to the latest in the same manga book, you'll see how much art changed. What made this artist changes his art? I don't know. >>;

I don't care what part he's talking about, Lyn's legs are fine, it's part of the stylization, not an error.
As for this "art style change" for the FE7 artist, this is not an evolution, this is a devolution. Change in art style is meant to progress your style, not make it worse.

In terms of art style evolution, you can even see evolution between FE6 and 7. I really like the art of FE7 too, and it's among my favorites as well. I feel let down too. I really want to know what happened. Was this Ike just a fluke? Because you can tell the artist has skill. That skill just isn't being used well! I thought that before I knew who the artist was. I mean, Ike looks okay from the chest up... and like I said, I like the coloring. Disappointment.
I also feel like saying this is the last DLC chapter is sort of likely, but I wouldn't be suprised if we got at least one of those stand alone "Spirit Talisman" chapters, like the ones for Marth, Roy, and Micky.

Uh, the Spirit Talisman chapters weren't standalone.
Those 3 are as much a set as the others. (Although, I'd say, that set should've been called Boys vs Girls (To fit with the rest, but then again, "Spirit Talisman" does explain the basic story of the DLC chapters. W/E.))... There's 3 of everything.

@ Rath: Dude, I never said art style improved after the period of time. =P I said it changed. It can be either good or bad. For in the FE7 artist's case..... Bad... sweatdrop
As for the last DLC, to be honest, I sortta don't want it to be the last one. I still hope to see a DLC of Hector and Eliwood. >>;

RAIN IN VAIN!! Hah, and I even posted the three characters you get from them. I don't know what I was thinking. Well I do know what I was thinking, but I don't know why I thought it. Still, I feel like we should get all the lords, at least. Though beginning with Senri Kita Marth and ending with Eiji Kaneda Ike feels like bookends to me. Them being the first and last lords (before FE13 anywho) drawn by two artists that each did illustrations for two games.

As far as Lyn's art goes, I realize those pencil feet are part of the style, I just find it SUPER un-Fire Emblem in a bad way. It's not a bad drawing, but I found it unsuitable.
As far as this being the final DLC, perhaps for a while. But the great thing about DLC is that it can keep coming. So maybe there will be a dry spell and then they'll add more new content.
I'd love a Sigurd/Hector/Eliwood trinity. Actually, isn't that all that's really left? It's even in three like the regular pattern.

So maybe there will be a dry spell and then they'll add more new content. This. Because after all, a part of DLC is to give players more extra funsy stuff to do for a while. They keep it going, to keep people playing.

Is there Humanity on Mother Earth?! They could do another set (ESP. with that Limit Breaker skill... go ahead, shove that on every enemy on a map and THEN make them green. And give them hackforges while they're at it, so yes, there can be a set of 5-star maps) but apparently, the text for LvD3's description states that this is the last battle-- Well at least with the Spirits, so if there's another set, it won't be more Spirit world stuff- probably monsters as the enemies. There's those 99HP, 100+ ATK, 100RES or 100DEF Entombed out there (The enemies from the final Dual Tag team: Demon Army), so who knows... (And a map made out of a bunch of those sounds fun biggrin )
