Serious wasn't the half of it. Gage couldn't stand weak and headstrong pokemon, and if they weren't going to listen to him, then they were going to be traded away for a Bidoof that could. Croagunk got tackled in the back, and this time he eyed his trainer before retaliating. Croagunk got glared at, Gage even flipping up his sunglasses to fix those violet eyes on the frog. Hey, Gage couldn't just let the Croagunk be difficult. He didn't have any badges anymore to flash around and gain respect, so his methods were harsh, yet seemed to be working. As a reward for compliance, Croagunk was finally issued an attack, "Now use your Faint Attack." The frog croaked and laughed at Gage, walking away disarmingly. Yet it was all apart of the ruse, because as he passed by Shinx as though to say that he was going to join Alyss and her pokemon, Croagunk suddenly whirled around and sucker punched the cub in the shoulder without fail. It felt like those two didn't really have some sort of connection as she watched them. This was a serious fight, and she wondered if his Croagunk was going to listen at all. Although when she watched the sucker punch hit Tigres she winced a little since he wasn't as strong as most of her Pokemon so that did do some damage to him. "Argh...don't let up." She called out. He got up from the sucker punch and charged again with a Tackle. Gage again was smiling, and Croagunk wasn't expecting his trainer to tell him what to do anymore, yet he didn't attack. Focusing on protecting himself, Croagunk braced his body and dug in to catch the Shinx's Tackle again. "Aw, would you look at that. It looks like Croagunk is unable to battle. Obviously not true. The Croagunk blinked in disbelief and glanced over at Gage. "Darn it, your Shinx is just too strong. But I promised I would help you get at least one more level for him." Now he was being sarcastic, befuddling the Croagunk, but all the same, Gage withdrew Croagunk to replace it now with the next pokemon. He toyed with the idea of sending out Yamask, but that wouldn't be any fun for Alyss to watch all the Tackles just go right through the ghost. Instead he tossed the pokeball for the Ralts he caught. The shy little thing wasn't anything like Gage's other pokemon. It didn't even want to battle, and tilting her head back, she looked at the Shinx in fear. "I know you have an attack by now, Ralts. When Gage let out that his Croagunk couldn't win the battle she couldn't help but be shocked at his statement. She knew that was a complete lie just from the one strike that had been let off earlier. She also knew that Tigres wasn't that strong yet since he had only been caught recently. "But..." She started to say, before he sent out something new. She recognized it as a Ralts, and had a bad feeling about this. A psychic type. This could go badly, especially if it knows confusion. She thought to herself. But there was no stopping now. "Tigres charge forward!" She called out. He looked back at her warily before turning back and starting at the Ralts with his Tackle. Still grinning, Gage cocked his head to one side as the Ralts refused to attack. The best that the little psychic girl did? She used her Growl at Shinx after he tackled her, although, even that sounded endearing. Ralts was so used to running from opponents she had no confidence in herself nor her powers. Gage could tell, and he just waited for Alyss to make another move. Either way, it gave the Shinx some good training, even if it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Gage looked around for somewhere to sit, found a fallen log nearby, and parked his rear where he'd be more comfortable. "Come on, Ralts. Don't be lame and use your Confusion instead." Was he really sure this Ralts could do anything? It merely let off a growl that had weakened the tackle, but that was it. He seemed confident that she knew confusion so that wasn't stopping her. However, since she heard that he wanted her to use that, she decided to do something else. "Leer!" She called out. Tigres looked back, then moved slowly towards the Ralts, leering down at her. Yeah, this was going to be a waste of time, yet it was helping, right? Gage played with the idea of keeping his Ralts once she evolved into the elegant Gardevoir. But he would rather still trade it away. While her trainer cleaned sunglasses with the tail of his shirt, the Ralts meanwhile just back off, shaking in fear. She used Growl again, warning the Shinx to stay back or he'd really get it! Hard to believe when she looked so scared, but certainly there wasn't no bite behind her bark, if Houndour would excuse the expression. "Just use Confusion already and this will all be over." But there still seemed to be no convincing the Ralts she could do it. She shook her head. Gage shrugged, and placed his sunglasses back on his nose. "Don't be afraid to Tackle it, Alyss. Maybe it'll rattle some brains and convince it into actually being a less worthless pokemon. Hey, I don't suppose you'd want to trade something for my Ralts, do ya? There seemed to be nothing from this Ralts, but she couldn't exactly back down. Tigres decided to charge forward with a tackle since it seemed that his Ralts was defenseless. He had to win the battle right? That's at least what he thought. Alyss looked up, since his Ralts was still showing no choice in fighting. "Yeah I do know that Ralts can become powerful. I did come from Hoenn, so I saw a couple out there. Having one could be helpful for me." She said, thinking about his offer. The fight was over before Ralts did any damage at all. The Shinx's Tackle knocked her back on her rear, and dizzy, the Feeling Pokemon couldn't stand back up. Gage could be cruel, but he wasn't entirely sadistic. He returned Ralts to her pokeball and shook his head sadly while looking at the red and white capsule in his hand. Besides, being so mean would just leave a bad impression on Alyss. "Well, that didn't go as planned. I hope that helped out enough though with your Shinx. My Sandile is a bit strong for his level too, and a fight against my Yamask would just be futile." Standing up, Gage replaced the pokeball at his belt and walked over to Alyss. He wiped off his palms on his pants and offered to give her a congratulatory handshake. "Nice battle. You got mine a couple new levels too. So a trade, eh? Your Eevee is the most logical choice, since Ralts run when encountered in the wild. But what about your other pokemon? Any of them something special or exceptional?" She smiled when she watched his Ralts fall over, but things just felt wrong to her. "It's okay since Tigres still got a taste of battle." She said, kneeling down and offering her hand to him as he walked back to her. She looked up when he mentioned the trade. Sending over Saera to him for his Ralts? She wasn't sure that she wanted to do that since she figured that she could use her Eevee. "I'd rather not trade my Eevee. And I don't think any of mine have something special to them. Oh right...I also don't think you want me to send you a Zigzagoon, since I have one boxed. If not then I guess it will be a no trade." "Exactly, a taste of battle is the name of the game." Understandable that Alyss didn't want to really trade, and Gage had seen all her pokemon already, bar the Zigzagoon. Eevee just had too much to offer, and it was all in the cuteness department. Gage would just have to wait until he got lucky, or found someone who didn't actually like Eevee so much. Would that happen any day? "I tell you what, I've been meaning to catch an Eevee for quite some time now. You're probably out of pokeballs now until you get your badge. What if I loan you one of my pokeballs, you catch an Eevee if you see one, and I'll trade it to you for my Ralts?" "Speaking of which, you think you're ready for the gym challenge? Go off to find another Eevee? Well that could take sometime, but she would surely have sometime if he went off to the ruins for sometime. "Yeah I could go find a new Eevee for you. That wouldn't be too hard at all. Then it would help both of us out." She said with a smile, thinking about the gym. "I believe I am ready for it. Xavier will be my main contender there, but then I can also use Lily, my Tympole, and Saera, my Eevee. Tigres isn't strong enough yet, and I think he may get replaced later in the future." "Consider it a done deal." Gage pulled out one of his empty pokeballs and handed it over to Alyss to borrow. "I should still be around the area for a few more days, but if you can't find me around Blyse by the time you catch the Eevee, I'll leave a note for you in the Fort. You'll probably run into another Eevee before you know it, and don't be afraid to give up. Frankly, I've given up myself, but maybe you'll get lucky twice." Laughing at his own joke, Gage sure did like hiring other people to do his dirty foot-work for him, but hey, it was a win-win situation, just so long as the girl didn't kill herself trying to catch the Eevee. He almost turned to leave to the Ruins but had to stop, thinking of something. "If you decide you don't want that Shinx anymore, think of me, alright? She looked down at the Poke ball he had handed her and nodded. She would make sure that she would get a new Eevee for him even if she had to scour the seven seas for one! "That sounds good to me. I'll be sure to get onto searching right away! I don't really have a plan to give up on this. It will be worth it." Though when he mentioned something about not wanting Tigres she frowned on the inside. But it was a good offer. "All right I will keep that on my mind. See you later when I have that Eevee!" Alyss started off on her search for an Eevee. She ran into a lot of common Pokemon that she felt were nice to fight, but they weren't even worth her time anymore. There has to be an Eevee around here somewhere. She thought, keeping an eye out. Almost everything she ran into was a Zigzagoon or something boring like that. "Get away from me. I don't want to see you guys!" She called out.
