"I wonder how Jett and Scarlet are doing," Jasper wondered aloud. He and his two Pokemon had been once again sitting in silence as the excitement over Paras' first real battle and win had since passed, and the sudden noise of the boy's voice had startled both the mushroom and gator Pokemon. "Ehe, sorry," he added, patting Totodile on the head. Paras was perched on his trainer's knee, thinking back to his battle. A part of him was still struck with disbelief over his performance while the other (secretly) wanted to try it again. Winning certainly felt better than running away scared, and he idly wondered if some of the courage he felt was because he'd been spending time with Jasper and the other Pokemon. Paras was no longer terrified of Totodile; if anything only mildly wary of her, and this made Totodile happy. The other Pokemon at Elm's laboratory had avoided her, though she was never sure if it was because of her personally, or if they shied away due to her powerful jaws and mouth full of razor-sharp teeth. Either way, she was glad she'd finally found a trainer, even if this one was a little strange.

Jasper had once again taken out his Pokedex and was looking through it, committing the future moves Paras and Totodile would eventually learn to memory. It would be useful for Ditto as well, seeing as the Transform Pokemon could only ever use Transform, and it would be entirely up to Jasper to be able to utilize whatever Pokemon form he had Ditto change into. It hadn't occurred to him until just then how both useful and tedious it would be to raise a Ditto. "Looks like I've got some studying to do," the boy mused to himself, now looking up Pikachu's entry. "Look, other moves than Thundershock," he added dryly, showing the screen to Totodile, but she just looked at him quizzically, clearly not understanding. "Thunder Wave. Quick Attack. Electro Ball." He read off several moves, sighed, and closed the device. Their work was definitely cut out for them.

Seeing the dear little Charmander so upset in turn was upsetting for Hayley, and she broke one of the cookies in half and offered it to Mya, who still perched happily on her shoulder. The Rattata gave a happy "Tah!" and began to nibble it, more focused on her cookie than anyone else around her. "Poor little guy," the brunette murmured, taking a moment to enjoy a cookie, as well. She glanced back at the Larvitar and her trainer, like Gigas having also missed the red-headed giant's reentry into the lobby until he was right there in plain sight.

"Goodness, you're a big fellow," the Pokemon Watcher-in-training said, looking up at Kressen with wide, green eyes. "Um, cookie?" she asked, offering up the small tin. "Oh, and I'm Hayley, by the way! Hayley Bennett! And this little gal is Mya," she added, nodding to the Mouse Pokemon on her shoulder. "And I'm sorry about my actions before. You see, I'm in training to become a famous and respected Pokemon Watcher. Every time I meet a new Pokemon, I can't help but want to sketch them!"

Walking east along a moderately busy street in Jubilife City, a purple haired girl talked quickly into the Pokénav in her ear as her eyes drank in the sights. "Are you sure that the Pokémon Centers are free? The food too? And renting a room? How could they afford to give away all of that?” Oddly, some form of shade seemed to be following her.

Another teasing laugh greeted the girl. “Yes, stop worrying Jenea. Just run in and grab some food if you are so hungry. And don’t be afraid to stay the night at a center, the nurses are really nice. Please, I’ve been on the phone with you since you arrived in Sinnoh.”

Jenea pouted, staring up into the sky. “Moody hasn’t come down yet, Riley.” A distance above, there was a small cloud moving in pace with the teen. “I still don’t get why I shouldn’t have gone to Unova. I’m positive they have some awesome dark types there, and you could have helped me get started in person. It’s not fair that you got such a big head start.” Jenea squinted at the cloud.

Riley sighed. “Listen, something’s came up, and I wouldn’t be able to baby sit you like you or Mrs. Yolanda would.”

“Hey now, I’m older than you,” Jenea giggled.

“The point still stands. Listen, it was nice talking to you and all, but I seriously have to go now. Talk to you later cuz.” He did not wait for a response before hanging up.

“Jeez, you could have at least let me say good bye…” Jenea took the device from her ear and stared at it for awhile. Five hours and thirty-six minutes, that is what flashed along the screen before it darkened. Reluctantly, she slid the Pokénav into a pocket. She shivered some. It was colder than she thought it would be, evident by her lack of coat or jacket, but she actually enjoyed the cool breeze. It was a refreshing reminder of her new adventure.

Still looking up, Jenea took a deep breath. “Moody! Will you come back! Please?” The small cloud chirped a reply and rapidly descended, landing square on Jenea’s face. The weather Pokémon bounced off and floated down to her side. Smiling, Jenea chided him, “That’s a mean thing to do.” She looked back to see where she was going. She was reaching the edge of the city now, the crowd having thinned out significantly by this point. The castform bobbed from side to side with a cheesy grin plastered across his bulbous head. Jenea pulled her Pokénav out again, half expecting a call from her mother. Luckily, it remained silent. She turned it on briefly to take a look at the time. It was still pretty early, which was good. If they made good time, the two of them should be able to reach that one city, Orbug or something like that. The Sinnoh League gym was supposed to be there and she wanted to challenge it as soon as possible.

Jenea walked past the city limits without hesitation. She had thought about stopping to go look for and get snacks to go from the Pokémon Center, but thought better of it. They would lose valuable time and she had already packed and pilfered a ton of fruit and a bottle of water from different sources. She felt a tad guilty for taking the food from the boat, but easily justified it to herself: it’s not really stealing if the food was free in the first place. She had all of the food stuffed into her green purse/suitcase hybrid. She looked down it at it and frowned. The way she held the purse/suitcase hid the pink heart on her black shirt. “With all the dark clothes you wear, it wouldn’t be surprising if you scared everyone away from you.” The words of her mother echoed through Jenea’s mind as she readjusted the suitcase/purse onto her left shoulder. “Don’t want that, do we?” she whispered to herself.

Kressen held the little fire type in his arms ever mindful of the flaming tail. "It's nice to meet you Hayley, and yes I would love a cookie. Wouldn't you Gigas?" Now that the Charmander had calmed down some its' stomach would rumble in hunger. A affirmative growl escaped it's lips and Kressen took two cookies from the offered tin. e gave one to Gigas who nibbled on it happily cooing in delight at the taste. He then took a bite out of one and gave a happy sigh.

He swallowed the morsel in his mouth and gave the brunette a look of gratitude. Thank you very much that really hit the spot...I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself I'm Kressen and this little ball of energy is Gigas." The Charamander growled his mouth full of food now. It waved at the Rattata on her Hayley's shoulder now wanting to play since it knew its' trainer was okay.

"A Pokemom watcher huh? That sound really cool. Would you care to show us some of your pictures. I'd love to see what kind of Pokemon you've seen on your journey. He finished off the rest of his cookie as he set Gigas back on the ground. The little lizard promptly started to run around growling happily, trying to egg roll and Mya into a game of tag.

"Wow," she murmured, her eyes sparkling as she slid down from Flygon's back. "It's so… it's so… vast." Sirrus cooed lightly at her side, also taking in the marvellous sights around them. It as a nice place to take a breather, and Kasiya sighed, staring down into the water below. A large school of Remoraid passed by the rocky outcrop, and Kasiya smiled at them. They had places to go, and so did she. "Ready to go?" she asked the Mystic Pokemon, and he nodded. "I'm sorry for all the flights," she added as she climbed up onto the Pokemon's back once again. "I promise I won't make you fly me anywhere for at least a day, all right?" Sirrus cooed in reply and patted her head with his fan-like tail. It didn't matter to him how often she wanted him to take her places, as his former trainer (or current, depending on how you looked at it) had him fly her places countless times nearly every day. With a quick flap of his wings, the dragonfly shot into the sky like a green comet, and once again the two were Kanto bound.

It was virtually a seamless transition from one area to the next, as they were too far out for any wild bird Pokemon to be anywhere near them. Before they'd left the Hoenn region in their wake, there had been numerous Wingull and Pelipper gliding around the shorelines, but now as her familiar home region came into view, there weren't any water birds to be seen. She did, however, catch sight of a large-winged bird flying well above even her and Sirrus' heads, though it was too high up for her to be able to identify it. It's probably a Pidgeot circling for prey in the water, she thought, quite glad she wasn't a fish at this time. It couldn't have been a nice end for any fish that were snared within a Pidgeot's talons. She could see a large plume of smoke rising up in the distance and at once Kasiya knew it was coming from Cinnabar Island's volcano. She nudged Sirrus with her right knee and the Pokemon veered off to the right, which was in fact the correct direction to Vermilion. Kasiya was certain she could find her way to her home region in her sleep if she needed to, and she closed her eyes and breathed in the familiar, tangy sea air as her hometown came closer and closer.

Naturally, Sirrus targeted the red roof of the Pokemon Center, as he had been trained to always land there, but Kasiya veered him away from it and he found himself heading for a different structure. The Flygon gave a happy cry as he made his landing, and though he wouldn't admit it, he was looking forward to having a nice nap. After Kasiya had climbed down from his back, the Flygon wandered over to a warm slab of concrete that had been heated by the sun and he flopped down on it, stretching and relaxing. Kasiya took a moment to ponder if it was safe to leave him there on his own, but then again he'd been trained by Mai, so she was certain he'd be just fine. Her heart had started to beat faster as she reached for those familiar bronze doors, though for a moment she wondered why she hadn't gone to the Pokemon Center first, since Surge had told her that was where Raichu was. She took a deep breath and pushed the doors open, not at all surprised to see that the trash can puzzle was currently disabled, and the gym itself was virtually empty. The door hadn't been locked so she knew someone must be here. "Hello? Dad?" she called out, cringing at the eerie echo of her own voice.

Jake sighed and stretched his arms over his head, ruffling the white fur trim of his aviator jacket. He glanced over as he heard the sound of a Pokeball opening, smiling when he saw that Jade had released her Psyduck to keep them company. "Hey there, Aquarius," he said, giving the Psyduck a small wave. Not wanting to feel left out, he considered letting Bibarel out of her Pokeball as well, but considering the previous match with Aquarius, it might not have been the best of ideas, so he released Grotle, instead. The Grove Pokemon's quiet company was much more welcome, at least to the tall blonde.

"Eh?" he asked, looking over at Jade as she'd asked him something, and he shrugged, honestly unsure of what his next move was. "I really don't know," he admitted. A quiet nagging at the back of his mind reminded him of the fact that he possibly had other Pokemon back in his forgotten life, and he felt a pang of seemingly unnecessary guilt as he watched Grotle plod along, occasionally nipping at bits of grass. The good-natured Grass-type was possibly the best thing that had happened to him since he woke up on that beach near Sandgem. "If something catches my eye, then I might catch it, but for now, I'm pretty happy with Bibarel, and Grotle here. What about you?"

Amy's comment was almost startling to Karrigan, and she momentarily paused her steps to let the words sink in. She was close to having a full team of six, having counted the members of her party off on her fingers at least three times. Ikouma, Aegeus, Zaira, Lennier and Amber make five, she thought, bewildered, but she shook her head, and smiled sheepishly at Amy. "Well, I don't know for certain, but I would love to raise a Seel," she admitted quietly, looking at the ground. "Dewgong has always been one of my favourite Pokemon, and naturally, I have a preference for Ice-types." The only issue was that she didn't know where she could possibly find one, but it was good to dream. "I like your approach to catching Pokemon," she added as they passed through the gatehouse. "Not having an exact plan, and just going with what feels right."

Okay, so she hadn't really planned to capture any of the Pokemon she currently had, with the exception of Amber. She knew she probably wouldn't have been able to capture Aegeus without Roark's help, and Zaira had seemed too weak and helpless to leave alone in the wild. Lennier, well, he was quite an amazing Pokemon and Karrigan was quite grateful to the Kadabra as he'd saved her life, twice. It was still gorgeous out here, however, and Karrigan breathed deeply, enjoying the sweet scent of the grass and trees. A group of Butterfree were flittering about nearby, harvesting nectar and pollen from the flowers. It was quite a drastic change, going from a bustling city to the quiet countryside.

Kilik looked up as Katie sat down, a bit of meat dangling from his lips. "Hmmrph?" he used his tongue to lap it up into his mouth and start chewing for a few moments before ending it with a hearty gulp. "Don't worry. I'll have this all gone and packed away faster than a Jolteon!" He grabbed up a plate and spoon, lifting it up a little and practically shoveling food down his throat. Cable was doing the same next to him, as if the two were having an eating contest. Kilik began to pile each empty plate onto the side of the table and surely, the plates were getting staggeringly high. The boy stopped a moment to breathe and hopped up from his chair to walk over and get a drink.

Cable enjoyed eating the same kinds of foods as Kilik; which included everything that could be cooked. The large Pokemon glanced over at the smaller Pokemon and wondered how such small portions could sustain them. As long as he could remember, he was eating mountains of food. Perhaps it was all in his head. The Electivire looked down at the food Kilik had left behind as he went to get a drink and reached over, lifting up a bowl of soup from the boy's tray. He glanced over at Katie and put a finger to his lips, as if to see "Keep this our little secret". And with one gulp, Cable downed the entire bowl.

Returning with a bottle of fruit punch, Kilik sat back down and glanced at his tray. Something was amiss. "Roast beef and turkey sandwich, spinach and pepperoni pizza, bacon triple cheeseburger, tomato soup..." He pointed at each item on his plate and then glanced over at Cable. "Hey!" He looked at the empty bowl now sitting on top of their pile of dirty dishes. "You ate my cream of mushroom! You...!" Kilik took a swig of his fruit punch and placed the bottle on the table. "Now I'm gonna eat something of yours!" He reached over to grab something off Cable's tray, only to be met with the Electivire's large hand covering his face to push him away.

You snooze, you lose a bowl of soup! Cable kept pushing Kilik away with one hand, pushing food into his mouth with the other. His trainer's slaps against his face were not enough to distract him from the task at hand; eat as fast as possible.

Kilik backed off and growled a little. "Aaalright, you win this one, Cable..." he glared at his Electivire, picking up a slice of his pizza, "But I'll get you back when you least expect it!" he took a bite and then pushed the rest of it into his mouth, crust and all, chewed it up angrily and swallowed. He took another drink of his fruit punch and then glanced over at Katie. "Sorry," he laughed, scratching the back of his head, "Food is a big deal to us." Surely, he figured the girl would be embarrassed to even be at the same table.

Amy paused along with her friend, smiling slightly at her surprise. She wondered what it would be like, to have a full team of such eclectic and interesting Pokemon. Someday, she would learn; perhaps sooner than she'd expect, if she was already considering her fourth Pokemon. She enjoyed the cool air of the gatehouse as Karrigan deliberated on a future choice, smiling at the redhead's idea. "I love Seel! They're so cute," Amy said agreeably, also recalling a contest she had watched a few years ago that had a water arena where a Dewgong shined during the battle portions.

"Oh, thanks! I just suppose it makes catching Pokemon more... fun," she smiled, despite the fact that she hadn't caught very many Pokemon at all. At least, both times she had, she definitely wasn't searching for a Wooper or a Tyrogue, of all things. Marshall and Lee just had the luck of... forcing their way into things. But she was glad she caught them, both of them. Amy thought of letting Marshall out to enjoy the sunshine as they entered the next route, the buildings of Saffron already visible in the horizon, but she worried that he might run off. He really needs some discipline, still.

"How's your hand doing?" the bespectacled girl asked abruptly, gaze wandering to the bandages still wrapped around Karrigan's hand. She hoped it wasn't hurting too much; she knew how much trouble it was giving Karrigan this morning. "Better, I hope?"

Despite his only encounter with Jake thus far not being the most... calming one, Aquarius let out a cheerful quack and waved a chubby arm back at the blonde boy. Jade smiled at the sight; Solaris would still be stinging from her loss, that was for sure. As much as she loved her Vulpix, that little fox wouldn't let things go so easily. And that might end up being a problem, later on. As they continued onto the sunny route, the sound of rushing water growing louder, the raven-haired girl listened to Jake about a possible future Pokemon, uncertainty tinging his voice.

"I wouldn't worry," Jade said, without very much meaning to, "you don't have to have everything planned out three steps ahead. Sometimes you just... act, I guess." But the question in return gave her pause, made her wonder how she intended to challenge a Grass-type leader with just a Fire-type and a Water-type. "I'll find something," she said with a flippant grin. "Or something will find me, I'm sure. I just want to make my team more diverse, I guess."

She began to look around, taking in the gentle stream nearby and the bridge ahead, as well as the route across the stream. A boy seemed to be napping under a large tree, but above him, there was something rustling in the leaves. Jade watched for a few more moments, intruiged by what seemed to be a sentient honeycomb emerging from the branches to happily sap up something slathered over the bark. "Do they do that a lot?" Jade asked her companion, nodding over to the Combee and the honey on the tree. "I didn't know you could catch Pokemon that way." Trying to get a closer look, she moved toward the river, squinting at the boy under the tree. There was definitely something there; he had a Pokeball in his hand, like he was waiting for a Pokemon to come along. But he must've fallen asleep, instead. Jade grinned at the thought, leaning closer and reaching for her Pokedex, to see what that strange little Pokemon was. Maybe she could catch it!

But before she could grab her Pokedex, before she even knew what was happening, Jade had lost her grip and slipped on the muddy soil, falling into the river. After a few moments, she emerged to the surface, sputtering and splashing indignantly. And also, she noticed must to her surprise, drifting. She coughed up the water she had managed to inhale, face steadily burning as she tried to reach up and grab hold of the grass and roots on the actual surface. All she managed to end up with was a handful of torn grass, and she was slipping away further and further. "Hey--uh--" she called, waving frantically despite the level voice she tried to maintain. "Hey, cowboy! A hand? Aquarius?" She thought she heard the answer of her little duck diving into the water, but it seemed far away and the river was moving faster than she liked. She never had learned to swim, back in Ecruteak. It was unbecoming. "Jake!" Jade called out again, still trying to keep herself afloat as she felt something brush past her leg. "Aquarius!" It seemed like she would seeing where this river led, after all.

All of this battle was beginning to wear on Athena, which definitely showed. The owl started to falter in her attacks, now watching the butterfly warily as he circled her. Aerosmith, on the other hand, was downright energetic, looking forward to getting in another attack. The Butterfly Pokemon was insatiable, though he only wished he had more ways to attack. Jett watched the two match off, sure that there would be some decisive end to it soon. One or the other would end up making a clever enough move to win. But he just wasn't exactly sure who it would be.

Finally, the Noctowl readied another Aerial Ace, having grown quite fond of the move already. Her talons glowed and she swooped in for Aerosmith, but he remained still, beginning to glow brighter and brighter. A vertical line appeared between Jett's brows, grey eyes trying to figure out just what the Flying/Bug-type was up to. And just as Athena was in point-blank range of Aerosmith, he used Flash, the glow spreading outward in a bright burst of light. The Noctowl squawked in surprise, even as her move hit true, and then she was flying blindly in mid-air, trying to find her opponent again. But Aerosmith wasn't staying still this time--he swung back around and used one last Tackle, ramming his tiny shoulder into Athena's side. She let out one last hoot and then began to descend, landing unsteadily on the ground. Her opponent landed a few moments later, much more gracefully.

"That was incredible, guys!" Jett said with a small grin, gently patting the both of them. "You fought great. I have no doubt that you can handle Bugsy tomorrow." He glanced up at the sky, not as light as before, and he recalled both of his Pokemon to their Pokeballs. Jett looked over at Scarlet and called out, telling him that he'd meet him back here soon for dinner, before heading back inside. After giving his Pokemon to the excellent care of Nurse Joy with a polite smile, Jett flopped on the couch in the near-empty lobby, letting out a small sigh. What would he do now? Maybe a walk would be nice.

For once Riza was far too distracted to notice that Crenu was currently enjoying the way she looked in her black and white bikini as she was now admiring the blue water drop shaped badge in her hand. She was on a winning streak! First she'd won a Thunder Badge at Vermilion, and then she'd won the Cerulean Ribbon, and now a Cascade Badge. She wasn't sure what gym she'd take on next, but she was eager to add another shiny badge to her growing collection. "Thanks, Shiro," she said, leaning forward and standing slightly on tiptoe to lightly kiss him. "And thank you for letting me do that on my own. I think it helped me as a trainer." She shifted a bit, feeling a slight chill. "I uh, should go change back into my street clothes. Is there anything you wanted to do today?" she asked before heading back to the change room. "After all, I wanted to go to the gym, so now we could go where you want to go. Think about it and let me know," she said, blowing him a kiss as she dashed off to change back into her normal clothes.

She entered the change rooms and picked an empty stall, which wasn't hard to do considering they were all empty and she stepped inside, though this time she didn't bother to lock the door behind her. Even though she hadn't gotten overly wet from the battle, she was still glad to have changed into her swimsuit as she hated the feeling of wearing damp clothes. Once she was fully dressed she ran a brush through her raven hair and touched up her makeup, and she packed everything up before heading back out to meet Shiro. "Ta da," she said, giving a little twirl. "So, where are we off to next?" she asked. "Well, other than the pokecenter. My Pokemon should be healed before we head out."

Seeing the pace at which Kilik and Cable were eating, Katie decided to eat a little quicker as well, watching as the duo began to create an impressive pile of empty dishes. The orange haired girl smiled, finding their antics to be rather amusing. Sure, they could both use more than a few lessons in table manners, but at the same time it was kind of refreshing to not to have to worry about that sort of thing. She glanced up as Kilik jumped out of his chair and ran over to get something else, noting the sly Electivire as he'd lifted up one of the bowls of soup Kilik had yet to eat. She smiled and nodded, swiftly reaching out a dainty hand and sneaking a slice of bacon from the cheeseburger, giving the electric-type a devilish grin of her own and she devoured the bacon in two bites as Cable drank down the whole bowl.

It was hard not to giggle as she and Cable pretended to act natrual, at least until Kilik quickly figured out what had gone missing from his plate. It was something else to see, the Electivire's big hand covering the boy's face and pushing him back as Kilik tried to retaliate. Without hesitation, Katie pulled her phone from her bag and held it up, snapping up two or three wonderful photos of the two as they 'fought' over food. Nearby her Pokemon had looked on in amazement at how much food the large Pokemon could consume so much. Maybe it was just because he was so big, and they were still very small. Either way, it seemed like a lot of fun.

Katie smiled at Kilik from behind her glass of orange juice. "It's quite all right," she answered. "Food is important, and you guys are a lot of fun." She speared a slice of pecha berry with her fork and smeared it around in the maple syrup on her plate, unable to recall a time where a meal had been so much fun. Her mother had always been so busy with work that sometimes she didn't come back home for days, eating, sleeping and showering at her office. Luckily Katie had learned how to cook for herself, but meals alone were never fun, at least until Genki had come into her life. She sighed and stared at her half-eaten stack of pancakes. Up until now, she hadn't really realized the full extent of how lonely she'd been, even with her Pokemon.

Feeling rather full, and having emptied both his tray and his bottle, Kilik sat back a bit and sighed contently. He glanced up at Katie, who was staring at her pancakes. To him, she looked a bit...forlorn. The boy smiled. "You're a pretty fun person to be around, too, Katie." He stood up and gathered up his dirty dishes, taking Cable's as well (shooting the Electivire a glare at the same time) and took them to the small shelf reserved for dishes that needed to be cleaned. He walked back to the table and sat beside Cable again, smiling at her. "I don't know what you have planned for today," he said, stretching back a little, "But I sure would like some company on my way to Oreburgh. I can introduce my Pokemon to you on the way." He figured once he reached the next town, he'd change out his Pokemon again. Plus, that would give his mother some time to feed them all as well.

Cable glanced down at the group of Pokemon that were eating, then at Kord. If he wanted to be big and strong, he would have to eat like a big, strong boy! He stood up and walked over to the buffet line, grabbing a hefty sized hamburger. "Electivirrre!" he sat on the ground with a loud THUD and handed Kord the sandwich. The big yeti made eating motions with his hands, then flexed his large muscles. He looked around at all the smaller Pokemon, explaining to them that food was the most important aspect! When you're full, you're full of energy and can fight to your hearts content!

"Once we get there, you can stick arooound," Kilik lifted one hand as if he were weighing options for her, "Or go about your business. I'm sure you had plans in mind before running into me, yes?" He glanced at her, resting his elbows on the table and locking his fingers together, pinkies touching the table. Granted, Kilik was never one for company, but he'd never turn down the opportunity to spend time with somebody. The boy smiled again at her.

"Sir!" The boy saluted as his C.O. paced in front of him. He was just given intel that Team Rocket had been spotted in Sootopolis, near the Cave of Origin. The reason for their appearance, unknown. His mission? To find out why they were there and, quite possibly, stop them at all costs. "Mazarin Stanky, reporting for duty!" With a nod, the boy zipped off in a flash, grinning as he ran down the hallway. Finally, oh boy! A mission all for me! A really real mission! he skid to a halt as he turned a corner, seeing his fellow member, Alastor.

"So, you're the one going after Team Rocket, eh?" the green haired man said, approaching him. Mazarin nodded in response. "You know all about fighting them, after the beach party. You were the only one of us there, so who better suited?" He laughed as Mazarin's grin grew to a point of almost tearing his face. The ego boost must have been nice. "Good luck, kid. You'll need it."

"Naw, dawg!" Maz waved a hand nonchalantly, "I got this! I don't need luck, cause it's aaaall skill, baby!" He ran a hand through his perfectly styled gray hair and ran towards the exit, tossing up Murkrow's Pokeball.

"Hey. Maz." a cool voice whispered, "You may want to take this, before you go." Another one of Mazarin's coworkers, Jill, approached him and placed a dark stone into his hand. "That little guy there can't carry you the whole distance in his current state. Give that to him." She waved so long to him and entered the building.

"What is..." he glanced at the stone in his hand. It was a purplish-black, like he was holding a bruise in his hand. "Hey! Murkrow!" he called up into the sky and reared back. "Catch!" The bird glanced down at his trainer and was suddenly clocked in the face by a hard rock. Mazarin put his hands over his mouth to stifle both a gasp, a wince, and a laugh. Then suddenly, his Murkrow began to glow. "Whoa-ho-hoa!" the boy clenched his hands excitedly, dancing in place. Murkrow was evolving! As the bird grew in size, his hat changed as well, becoming more of a pimp hat than a witch's cap. Then his chest puffed out, wings elongating. After the light dimmed, before Mazarin stood a large, powerful Honchkrow.

"Hoooonch!!" he called out, spreading his wings. Even he was shocked by the evolution, admiring his new size. Mazarin dashed over and hopped on his back, hitting his heels against the bird's sides.

"Onward, ho! To Sootopolis!"

The beauty of the growing country side was something that took Jenea’s breath away. Seeing the sights in person was a lot better than just looking at a few pictures from a biology book. There was a group of red bug Pokémon napping under a tree as one of them nodded his head rhythmically, rubbing its antennas together and creating sounds that are more reminiscent of a xylophone. Large swaths of tall grass stretched out to either side of her, and a small lack resided passed the grass to her left. A sudden rustling caught her attention, and when she turned to look Moody fly out of the grass. “Castform!” The little Pokémon whizzed by her and dived into another patch of grass.

I’m glad he’s enjoying himself, Jenea smiled to herself. Having this wider, wilder area to be in is probably better than being in a snuffy Pokéball anywho. Absently, she reached into the pursecase and grabbed a banana from the top. Now, It would probably do well to think of a strategy for this upcoming gym. I can’t be sure of what type of Pokémon this gym specializes in, but it wouldn’t hurt to make a strategy for different types. She slowly peeled the banana as she thought, watching some shinx walking across the path. Most electric Pokémon attack from afar, so making sure Moody is always prepared to evade would be good. She could hear the startled cry of the shinx as Moody popped out of the grass they were about to stroll into. Beaming, the Forecast Pokémon laughed hysterically as the shinx nervously edged around him, before he zoomed off into yet another patch of grass. Grass types usually have a bunch of moves that debilitate the opponent, right? So out ranging them would be good. If it’s steel type, the battle might take a long while, since my only ranged attach is something they are immune to, and they have really good defe-

“Cast, cast, cast, cast, cast!” The shrill crying interrupted Jenea’s thoughts. The castform shot out of the grass and began circling around her head. “Starly, star!” A highly agitated little dark brown bird flew after him. “Moody, what did you do now?” Jenea sighed. We don’t need these kind of distractions. We are on a tight schedule.

"Geeze that's bright!" Robin shielded her eyes as the bright light of the Sunny Day light up the arena. That combined with the flames that seemed to get bigger under the light. The bubbly redhead wished that she had some sunglasses, maybe she would go buy some after this? "Oooh! Ace if you see it use Flame Wheel!" Robin really couldn't see through the now bright arena.

Ace loved the now bright sunlight that was streaming down in the arena. What might have been to bright for his trainer was not to bright for him. Looking around he now didn't have a problem spotting the brilliant and glowing Cherrim. How could you miss it? Every time he had ever seen a sunshine Cherrim they were always the center of attention. If you added on that this was a gym leaders Cherrim? Well then there was really no way you could ever miss it. Attacking it though? Ace wasn't quite sure that was a good idea. The Sunny Day had made the grass type pokemon extra strong, then again he made himself extra strong to. Maybe a Flame Wheel was the right call. Dashing forward Ace threw himself into a flaming circle and towards the bright and cheery grass type.

Just because Rowan wasn't looking at the other didn't mean he wasn't listening. The older professor listened and it didn't take him long to connect the dots. Still he was silent as he read his paper and listened to the now calmer Ken. When he finished he glanced over the top of his paper at the other. "I do know where your friend is." Or rather he could contact him since he had his number. "However, I don't think it would be best to get in contact with him at the moment." Things might end up poorly if he suddenly met with someone who wanted to just throw him back in his old life. The memories would probably come back on their own in a much less jarring and gentle way. "He is fine, as far as I know at the moment."

With the Cerulean Pokemon contest over, Moti and company made their way back to the Ludicolo Lotus Cafe. Although it was late, the cafe was still open due to the contest and Juliet was busy with the few stragglers that had made it out for a drink before heading back home after the contest. "Oh, hey guys." Juliet said giving a beaming smile, the red haired woman had been doing killer business due to the contest crowd and her mood was quite uplifted by her skyrocketing profits. "Hey Moti, can you give me a hand when you get a chance?" she added noticing that the three were making their way to the stairwell.

"Sure, I'll be back down in a sec." the redhead replied as he made his way through the lobby. In the hallway upstairs the three trainers stopped to plan the next days trip. "So when do you guys want to head to Route 9 and the Lashley Institute of Memory? I'm not much of a morning person so how does 9:30 sound for when we head out?"

"That sounds good to me. I don't mind taking my time getting up." Claire said with a yawn. "Plus it's been kind of a long day. I'll see you guys in the morning the blonde haired girl said with a nod as she opened the door to room number 7 and closed it softly behind her.

"I'd have preferred to leave earlier," Rajasi muttered once Claire was gone. "Boss Macabre will be annoyed we're taking our time to get there." The brown haired boy observed.

"That idiot would miss everything important in life to gain more power." Moti said critically. "He can fume all he wants, we'll get his mission done in due time. Don't worry about it, I’m the one he’ll chew out in any case." Moti added. "Well I'm going to go see what our red-headed hostess needs before I head to bed. I'll see you in the morning, Rajasi." Mag said as he turned to go back downstairs. Unfortunately for the orange-headed young man, he wasn’t watching his step carefully enough as he mounted the first few steps down. With a loud crash, he soon found himself laying flat on top of a red haired woman with medium length hair.

"Oh dear, I'm turning into such a klutz." Moti said, quickly getting off of Juliet and giving her a hand up. Something was missing with her though, Mag couldn't quite pinpoint what it was. He really needed to start paying better attention to where he was going. Exactly how many people had he run into the past 24 hours?

"I shouldn't have been walking quite so carelessly at the bottom of the stairs, either." Juliet said with a sheepish grin as she stooped to pick up her glasses and the tray she had dropped. Her Ludicolo also joined the fray, quickly washing away the spilled liquids and food with a few well placed Water Gun attacks. "Anyhow, I could use a little help cleaning up." Juliet said as she walked back behind the counter.

Mag took a glance at the cafe, indeed everyone had left and the neon sign in the window read "desolc" from his position. "Okay, what do you need?"

"If you could stack up the chairs on the tables my Ludicolo will take care of the rest of the floor and then help me with the dishes." Juliet said as she began to wipe down the stove and countertop of the bar. Mag quickly moved through the room stacking the chairs upside down onto the tables. There weren't that many tables in the cafe, so it didn't take too long. By the time the redhead had made it behind the counter, Juliet's three Ludicolo were quickly spraying down the store. The well trained dancers then took several squeegees and were zooming about to dry it off with a surprising grace.

"They're pretty well trained." Mag observed as he rinsed out a coffee pot. “Did you ever think about doing a contest? I’m sure you’d do well with one of those guys.”

“Well, it was just me and my Pokemon for a long time. You can’t really have a successful Pokemon themed restaurant without training a few Pokemon. Of course, I started out as a normal trainer until my travels brought me here and I decided to start this place up.” The red headed woman said with a smile as she finished up the last of the dishes. “Well, thanks for your help. Anyway, I just wanted to remind you to be careful on your journey. I can tell that you’ll be doing some pretty dangerous work. Also watch out for that boy you’re traveling with. I don’t know what it is exactly, but there’s a look in his eyes that worries me.”

“Rajasi? Oh, I’m sure he’ll turn out all right. There’s some good in that guy even if he’s mixed up in Team Rocket.” Moti said with a smile as he dried off his hands. “Well, have a good night.” With the shop s**c and span, the two went their separate ways to nod off for the evening.

Cindy stared at Scarlet, the flames on her body fizzling out. She quietly hopped over the magikarp and nudged her trainer’s hand. This was the furthest thing from a fair fight she’d seen in a long time, and he had to know it. But all Scarlet did was pat her on the head.

“These two need practice too. As awesome as you are, we can’t even take Cyan alone, let alone gym leaders or the Elite Four.”

The Quilava sighed in compliance and sat down next to her trainer, watching as the red fish awkwardly flopped over to her opponent, uttering a “karp” every time her tail slapped the ground. This was easily going to be the most painful thing she’d ever seen in her life. Scarlet plopped down too, staring at his pokedex. “Okay… Terumi, you’re using Sludge Bomb and only Sludge Bomb. None of your weird ghost moves for this, got it? Halibel, I want you to dodge with your splash attack.”

Terumi’d finally finished laughing and stared down at the little fish with a slasher grin worthy of the Cheshire cat. The violet haze the floated around the gas pokemon congealed into something gross. The purple ball of toxic goop that floated there in front of the Gastly definitely looked disgusting, but one of the strongest poison type moves there was? When Terumi unleashed that sick looking attack of his, the magikarp simply smashed her tail along the ground, leaping a good five feet clear of the Sludge Bomb’s impact point.

If one could even call that a ‘bomb’. The tiny goo sphere hit the ground with a pathetic bubbling. But Terumi wasn’t discouraged. He’d definitely do better next time. While the Gas Pokemon began compressing a considerably more potent Sludge Bomb, Scarlet nodded to Jett, then turned to watch the little fish bounce over another explosive splash of filth.

Alex watched the Charmander, well, Gigas, as he excitedly worked on collected a group for tag, and it was literally the most adorable thing she’d ever laid eyes on. As Roll ran off after Gigas as fast as her little legs would take her, Alex’s attention redirected itself to Kressen, a soft frown affixing itself to her face. Was he really okay? She’d never seen someone run into a wall quite that hard. But the big guy seemed fine, and the nurses had seen fit to let him go, so he was probably fine.

“That would be super cool,” she said to Hayley, firmly in agreement with Kressen. “What kind of pokemon have you seen?” She was really excited to meet a Pokemon Watcher. They always saw the coolest stuff. Heck, she was so excited about Kressen’s recommendation that she’d forgotten to introduce herself. “… Oh. I’m Roll, and she’s Alexis,” she said, nodding toward the little rock dinosaur that was having trouble chasing down the flaming dinosaur. “… Wait,” she realized, turning a little red. “I mean, um. She’s Roll, and I’m Alex.”

Crenu returned Riza's kiss eagerly, and watched her as she dashed off to get changed. The regular guy portion of his brain wished she'd stay dressed like that, but it wasn't practical attire for anything other than the beach, or a water gym match as he now learned. He quickly shook the thought from his brain and started thinking about her question. Where did he want to go now? What did he want to do exactly? Crenu hadn't had any real plans for the day, nothing out of the usual, train and move forward to whatever was next...but there was nothing next right now. With the contest out of way there weren't any major events he was racing towards and nothing he wanted to check out in particular. Though as he waited and thought about it, he had to admit that there was something burning at the back of his mind. Something that had come up as he watched Riza challenge Misty, a flare for battle and a desire for a victory against a tough opponent. He wanted a gym challenge now, to fight strong trainers and gain an absolute victory was his method of reaching the pinnacle of power he desired. But his record was tarnished, by a victory that was not absolute, not one bit. And As Riza returned and did her twirl, he smirked. Not just because he enjoyed the way she looked, but because he knew where he wanted to go. "Vermilion. A tie is no way for two warriors to part, and Surge deserves better than loosing badge to someone over a tie." He said simply. With that he turned and left the gym, the pokemon center of course was their heading. Unlike his usual exits however, this time he had unknowingly taken Riza's hand. There was a much stronger trust somewhere in there that he felt now having told her his secrets, one that even he was unaware of.

Ken looked at rowan uneasily as the man sat there in silence, but perked up when he peered over his paper. It felt like an eternity waiting for his words to come out, and when they did they were straight to the point. He knew where Jaeshan was!? Wonderful! ken shot right out of his seat from excitement, but the professor's next words shot him right down, causing an emotional flare inside Ken. His hands slammed the table as he was about to exclaim his objection, but stopped as a cooler head emerged in his thoughts. Rowan wasn't some old geezer, nor would he do something mean just cause Kenneth disturbed his newspaper reading time, especially now that he knew how serious the situation was. "Sorry.." he said as he sat back down. Rowan clearly had a good reason for telling Ken this, and the important things was that he was safe after all. He really did make it out of the accident alive, Ken just knew it! "You'll understand my wanting to know just why I shouldn't contact him. I'm glad he's safe, I really am, but I have a bone to pick with him now. If he survived the accident and made it to shore here, why didn't he contact anyone? His family and friends, they all believe him to be dead... we were all worried and still are. Now that you say you know where he is and that he's fine, how can you expect me to sit still? What's the reason he didn't call anyone, or that you didn't call anyone for that matter, why can't I go see him now? Please, there has to be a reason, I'd like to know." He pleaded, though he remained as calm as he could not wanting to loose the only solid lead he had.

"Hello?" Kasiya's voice echoed back to her, and she shivered and stepped inside the gym, jumping a little as the heavy doors slammed shut behind her. It was dim inside the gym, as only a tiny amount of light from the skylight in the ceiling was filtering through. "Dad? Are you here?" she called again, steeling her courage and venturing forward. It was ridiculous for her to be frightened, especially since she had practically grown up inside this gym. Not only could she find this place in her sleep, but she could probably also complete the gym's puzzle while asleep, or perhaps blindfolded, at the very least. She was starting to wonder if her father had forgotten to lock the doors before leaving, which was something he would do when his signature Pokemon and best friend was in trouble. Kasiya had been about to turn around and head for the Pokemon Center when she heard some muffled movement from Surge's office. Frowning, and no longer afraid, Kasiya walked right up to the door and flicked on the light, causing a very disoriented Surge to jump up in surprise and nearly take the desk and nearly his whole office with him as his chair teetered backwards. He fell to the ground with what couldn't be described as anything less than a deafening crash. "Dad…" the girl said quietly, tilting her head. "Uh… are you okay?"

Surge groaned as he pulled himself into a sitting position, rubbing the back of his head from where he'd hit it. The corresponding drywall behind him had a matching indent and cracks, and Kasiya was sure the wall had suffered plenty more damage than her father had. "Yeah, I'm awrite. Geez, Kassie, don't go sneakin' up on people like that."

"Sorry," the girl said, trying to stifle a giggle as her father got to his feet. To say he looked a mess was a bit of an understatement: his hair was unkempt and strangely out of place, and he'd grown a significant amount of stubble, which was very uncharacteristic for the army veteran. The light grey tank top he usually wore beneath his camouflage jacket was stained with coffee and god knows what else, and Kasiya was certain he'd forgotten what a shower was. He'd always taken pride in his appearance and hygiene, so to see him such a mess was a testament to how broken up he was over Raichu's health. "You look awful," she added after a second or so of quiet observation.

The large man sniffled and wiped his face with the back of his dinner plate-sized hand. "Yeah, I know," He sighed, pausing to look at his daughter. His miserable expression softened some. "Ya look great, though! Yer hair's startin' to get long again and yer turnin' into a mighty fine young woman. Kassie, you sure ain't that shy little kid that left this place all those months ago anymore, are ya?"

Kasiya smiled sheepishly and looked at the floor. "No, I suppose I'm not," she said, shrugging. She didn't fully believe it herself, though she knew in her heart that she'd changed some. She'd always been confident when it came to Pokemon, as all the time she spent in the gym and the reading she'd done at home prepared her well. It was strange to think that she felt a little less confident now, even after everything she'd been through. She'd been fairly shy when she first left home, but she was definitely a lot more outgoing than before, and she tried to make friends with nearly everyone she met. She was still fairly quick to cry and she hated herself for that, and even now she doubted herself at almost everything she tried to do. She took a deep breath, and shook her head. "I'm not here about me, Daddy. How's Raichu doing?" she asked, deciding to be strong for her father.

Jake couldn't help but smile at Jade's words, as deep down, he knew she was right. He certainly hadn't planned for anything that had happened to him so far as he'd simply chosen to just go with the flow. He would have been happy enough sticking around Rowan's laboratory and helping him out, but the professor had given him a Turtwig and a job, and somehow had managed to remind him of the joys of Pokemon training before sending him off into the world. If he hadn't met that quirky Robin girl, he never would have known that gyms even existed and that he could challenge them for badges. It seemed that everything he'd been through and done had been because of his interactions with other people, though he didn't regret a single thing. And now he was traveling with Jade, so who knew what would happen next. He smiled down at the Grass-type plodding along at his side. "Hey, Grotle?" he said, stopping for a moment. The Grove Pokemon stopped as well, looking up at the boy curiously. "I don't know if I've ever said it, but uh, well, thank you. Thank you for traveling with me, and battling with me. Without you, I'd be pretty lost." He knelt down, and extended a hand. Grotle gave a cry and dashed forward, the ground trembling under his heavy steps. He jumped into his trainer's arms, knocking them both to the ground with a heavy thud. Jake's eyes were comically wide as he'd seriously underestimated how much heavier Grotle had become since his evolution. He laughed, though, wrapping his arms around the Grass-type and hugging him tightly.

Now, Jake had hardly noticed that they'd reached a small river of sorts nor did he not immediately notice the honey tree, the funny little honeycomb or the boy sleeping beneath the tree. Grotle let his trainer get up and he brushed the grass and dirt from his pants. "Hmm?" he asked, now looking at the tree, and the goop that had been slathered on the bark. "Oh, I wouldn't know," he said with a shrug, looking back at Grotle. "I'm not really familiar with that sort of thing." There was a few moments of silence, and then Jake heard a strange sort of sloshing sound followed by a splash. At first he thought nothing of it, at least until he heard the coughing and sputtering. Jake spun around in time to catch sight of Jade trying to pull herself back up onto the bank by grabbing the grass, though that didn't work out so well. He saw Aquarius dive into the water to go after his trainer, and though the river had seemed quiet, it seemed the current was, in fact, quite strong, and he wasn't sure if the Psyduck would be strong enough to save Jade on his own.

"Grotle, wait here," he told the Grass-type, instantly stripping off his backpack and leather jacket. He also kicked off his sandals as he started to race down the riverbank, keeping the raven-haired girl in his sights. "Hang on Jade, I'm coming after you," he called, suddenly very grateful for his long legs as they ate up the distance in no time at all. He easily caught up to Jade and even went ahead of her a bit before he dove in after her. The sensation of the cold water covering his body had an unexpected effect - he suddenly felt as though he was surrounded by darkness, and a fatigued feeling coursed through him. He felt as though he was being dragged down, down, down... and then he heard Jade's voice calling out to him, and he snapped out of it.

He surfaced and swam in long, strong strides after the girl, able to get to her in a matter of moments. "I-I got you," he told her, wrapping a strong arm around her waist and pulling her head above water. It was, however, a lot more difficult to swim with a person in his arms than he thought it would be, and with his free hand, he swiped at Bibarel's Pokeball. "Bibarel, help!" was all he could get out as the Beaver Pokemon materialized, very much surprised by the fact that she was in water. However, she put two and two together very quickly and used her powerful tail to help steady the two humans, as she knew quite well that they weren't adept at staying underwater. She spotted the Psyduck and gave him a wave to show him that she was there to help, and that she'd need him to help get the two water-logged humans to shore again. Grotle, meanwhile, hadn't stayed put at all and instead had picked up his trainer's belongings and was now tottering along the riverbank after them, granted, at a much, much slower pace.

Karrigan had let her imagination go for a bit, imagining a sleek, and beautiful Dewgong firing off a powerful Ice Beam and bringing down its target, a rare smile spreading across her face. She glanced up, seeing the Saffron City skyline already quite visible on the horizon and she wondered how long it would get from Kanto's largest city to the port city located to the south. She made a mental note to do some research on where she could possibly find a Seel to capture and raise, and she glanced over at Amy as she'd suddenly asked about her hand, and almost as if on cue, it started to throb painfully.

"Oh, it's all right," she said truthfully, as it hadn't bothered her much so far today. She hadn't been overusing the appendage so it hadn't started to bleed again yet. "It was far worse yesterday, but I probably should change the bandages soon. Don't want to get an infection," she said with a nod. Like Amy, she'd contemplated letting out one of her Pokemon and ultimately decided to give Zaira some fresh air. The Shinx appeared in a flash of light, looking energetic as ever. "All right, Zaira, behave yourself," she told the kitten. Zaira looked up at her, her head tilted slightly. Her tail and ears twitched and she gave a quick nod. She was just happy to be out of her ball! She ran a little circle around her trainer, nuzzling her legs before she did the same with Amy, making happy little chirping sounds as she did. Karrigan sighed, and smiled. "Shall we continue?" she asked.

It was plainly obvious that Moody knew he did something he was not supposed to do. The cloud was fluttering circling her head, confused as to why the bird reacted so badly to the joke. “Moody, calm down. If it’s a battle it wants, then let’s give it one!” That was all it took to get a serious Moody. He stopped his panicking and turned to face the bird. It spread its wings and ducked down before jetting upward in a burst of speed, leaving behind a trail of white energy. The quick attack caught the pair off guard and Moody took a full-bodied uppercut to the face.

Moody flipped head over… um, top over bottom from the attack. The bird spiraled up into the air and leveled out above the duo, shrilling continuously. “As long as your opponent has the element of surprise, your victory shall never come. Expect everything and reject no possibilities,” the words echoed in Jenea’s mind. “Tsk.” Couldn’t be helped, mother dearest. “Moody, retaliate with tackle!” Quickly righting himself, Moody flew up to deliver the attack, constantly bobbing and weaving to try to throw off the bird's aim. Jenea snatched her Pokédex out of the suitpurse and got the bio of the starly.

“STAAAAR!” the starly shouted down at Moody, distorting the air like a heat haze with the growl attack. The startled cloud slowed down as he got closer, turning the tackle more into slight chest bump for the brown bird. Taking the opportunity, the starly delivered a more effective tackle of its own, knocking down Moody a few feet. “Don’t just take that, use a point blank clear smog!” Moody shook his head and flew back up to meet the starly once more, his cheeks swelling as he readied the attack. The starly tucked its wings in and dived down for another tackle. Moments before contact, the castform exhaled, releasing a stream of thick white cloud of noxiousness that completely halted the aggressive bird.
