Riyel "The Quiet One" Vicaria Now I think I understand How this world can overcome a man Like a friend we saw it through In the end I gave my life for you Gave you all I had to give Found a place for me to rest my head While I may be hard to find Heard there's peace just on the other side
Not that I could or that I would Let it burn under my skin, let it burn Junction: Ifrit Level: 6 Health: 560/560 Location: Winhill Magic: Fire(3) & Ice(2) Mood: Not in the mood. §▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲ {{Ooc:// }} {Current Theme Song: Dear God- Avenged Sevenfold}
Sitting and pitying himself felt better than Riyel could have ever realized. Noone else was going to comfort him. Why comfort the villain? The thought of that was almost funny enough to make him chuckle...almost. As he stood there by the door, itself opening to reveal Kalay and Lisanna, the latter of which had probably given him an abhorrent look, but the fact was that he really did not care at this point. Whatever reputation that he had garnered for himself was immediately shattered moments prior, and personally, there seemed to be no way to regain the respect he lost. No look came from Riyel to those who were entering the room, not at Ellale, not at Nona, and not even at Lloyd. Why would he do such a thing? He'd be embarrassed to admit that he knew himself at all. But perhaps it was time to enter the room now, as well.
Looking up, at a man that was standing near him, Riyel only gave the curious stranger a whimsical look. Never before had he seen the man, nor was he sure any other individual here had. Riyel knew most that traversed throughout these halls and this man was obviously a newcomer...curious. Swallowing the self pity that he had moments prior, he continued to give an analyzing glance at the though provoking stranger. There was just something about him that made Riyel feel not threatened but more alert to the people around him. Any feelings of self pity were immediately tossed aside at the man's presence. Not knowing why, Riyel only looked at him once more before giving a sharp nod to him and turning away towards the door, entering quietly and standing in the back. Not once did he look at his blonde friend or any others that were in the room, only looking at Sou-Ho. Riyel's face had once again turned into that set of stone that it had been moments prior to dancing with Nona....but he sure as hell did NOT look at her either.
▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§▲§ I hope it's worth it Here on the highway, yeah I know you'll find your own way When I'm not with you
So tell everybody The ones who walk beside me, yeah I hope you'll find your own way When I'm not with you tonight

It the closeness one might expect of an attendant or waiter, waiting to ensure that their patron had been satisfied before moving onward, although Sou-Ho seemed to at least have the decency to stand back far enough so not to loom over where she sat. As Sou-Ho stood by, waiting for a reaction as she sniffed and eyed the tea, he found himself noticing for the first time that night that Nona was dressed up for the ball. He wasn't sure how he had missed it at first, but looking her over he saw that she had indeed prepared for the ball. Although she didn't seem to be wearing make-up, her seemed to have had some care put into it, and the dress she wore, although far from what he would have initially suspected of her, surprisingly fitting. It had surprised him, for some reason, to see her dressed up. And when he found himself staring he averted his eyes from Nona, suddenly finding himself unsure of where to look on her person as he stroked the red fringe over his right brow.
When Nona responded appropriately, having sipped the tea after her moment of examination, Sou-Ho nodded, masking his pleasure at having her approval of the tea. "It's a special blend my father made," Sou-Ho explained. "Tea making was a hobby of his, and he prepared this for my mother, Amoline, due to her dislike of anything bitter. I prefer more traditional teas myself, but this one has always had a calming effect on nights like this." He continued as he returned to the tea maker to take his own tea, which had cooled some at this point. Thinking back, it had been his grandmother to teach him how to make this tea. She had learned it from her son years before the war, and when Sou-Ho was still a child thought to teach it to him. The memory was still quite clear, and even now he could recall her saying that the tea never came out quite like Kaiden's. Though that was something Sou-Ho would never be able to confirm for himself.
Having obtained his own cup, Sou-Ho turned around and returned to the desk, seating himself again. Not bothering to blow on the tea before sipping, he took notice of those whom had entered the room. Ellale and Taeria had arrived, both looking slightly flushed from the prior dancing, with a curious look in Ellale's eyes as she looked about the room, taking in the environment students rarely got to enter during their time at the Garden. Not far behind them was Lloyd and Sophia, both of them quieter than usual, a pleasant surprise, and looking just a bit wistful. And soon enough, Riyel entered as well, someone Sou-Ho would have expected to be the first to enter as he had been standing outside the doors the entire time. He seemed to take special care to avoid looking at Nona, as well as everyone else, placing himself in the back of the room away from them and keeping his eyes in Sou-Ho's direction. 'Seems I underestimated him.' Sou-Ho thought musingly, taking another sip of tea before deciding it was time to begin.
'It seems we've finally all gathered.' Sou-Ho said aloud, though as he looked at those present feeling that the numbers seemed low. Eamonn was elsewhere, hopefully making preparations for tomorrow, and Kalay and Lisanna had no reason to be there as they already knew what he planned on revealing to those present. For the most part. Those three aside, and himself included, a feeling of guilt and regret for what he was about to put on the shoulders of these six operatives suddenly hit him again. 'If I intend to inherit this garden, I will need to master this feeling.' Sou-Ho thought, knowing that he would be responsible not just for those participating on a specific mission, but for an entire institution. While that thought may have been daunting to some, it appeared to help Sou-Ho steel himself, giving him an odd sense of encouragement. This would not weigh him down. Not yet.
Setting down his tea on the desk before him, Sou-Ho stood up and looked to everyone in the room, preparing to speak before a last person entered the room. The man looked around the room warily, with what Sou-Ho could only think of as a heightened sense of caution before settling himself in the corner of the room with his back to the wall and his field of vision focused on the entire room, clearly as a way of keeping everything in his sights and give him the time he would need to react. Sou-Ho stared at the ragged male, the image of a tightly coiled spring coming to mind. "You must be Varitas Durantis," Sou-Ho announced, gesturing to the man. "The headmaster explained that you would be participating on this mission. I don't know if he explained the details to you, but I am about to get started on them now so feel free to sit and observe."
Turning to Riyel, whom he found staring back at him, Sou-Ho nodded to him. "Master Vicaria, can you get the door?" The enchantment effect would hopefully still be in place, but as soon as the door was shut he would cast the spell once more, catching sight of Varitas stiffening in the corner though he ignored this motion, though he was careful to keep himself alert of any that might constitute as dangerous from the man.
With the door shut, the room warded against any outside eavesdroppers, Sou-Ho took a moment to look to everyone as he considered what he planned to say. "Under most circumstances, I would have to bind each and every one of you to silence for what I am about to reveal to you. But earlier it seems someone broke into the headmaster's office and made off with files unknown. The contents of the missing files have not yet been confirmed, but I shall proceed to assume that the security of this mission has been compromised, and for that I am less than concerned that anything I share with you will reach the ears of anyone who might not otherwise hear what I have to share tonight. All I can ask is that you all use your better judgement and refrain from sharing what I am about to reveal to you from any whom might not need to know what is intended. Even if those who would stand in our way know what it is we intend to do, there is no need to cause unnecessary panic amongst the rest of the students."
This he said sternly, giving an especially hard eye to Lloyd, whom of the group seemed most likely to accidentally let something slip, although his faith in Riyel had faltered this night as well. But they surely all knew well enough by now. After all, they would not be there if he expected any less of them.
This morning, the headmaster gave to me a file pertaining to the details of a mission which has been requested of Winhill Garden. Who the clients are I'm not allowed to speak of, but we accepted the mission and you have all been chosen as candidates to take part on this mission. I will warn you all now that this mission will not be without danger. What you faced in Aurel will be nothing compared to what is about to be asked of you. Because of this, I will give you all this one chance to leave the room now and forget that you were ever called here. But understand that if you stay, and you hear the details of what I am about to reveal, that there is no going back and you will be obligated to take part in this mission, or suffer the consequences. This is your only chance..."
He paused for a moment, letting his words sink in for a moment and giving any of the six who decided they were not up for the mission the chance to leave while he was giving them the chance. Hopefully they would understand with this alone, and the fact that he had taken the precaution to have the doors shut and silenced that what he was about to share was not some casual information to play telephone with. And by now, they were probably interested in knowing what it was that they had been called in here for that had taken them away from the nighttime adventures. And as reluctant as he had been to speak, the words came easily enough when he started speaking.
"We have been asked to capture and subdue Sorceress Edea Kramer, and soon-to-be ambassador of Galbadia. Tomorrow morning we will set out for Deling and will intercept her during her induction of her newfound position. I do not need to stress how dangerous a mission this is. We are not dealing with assembly line soldiers and failed SeeD. We will be facing a sorceress, and one who has held her power for quite a some time. She is an ally of Vinzer Deling, president of Galbadia, and as both will be present tomorrow we can more than a fair amount of security. Fail or succeed, we can expect a retaliation of some kind from our actions tomorrow. And depending on how things go, this mission could plunge us into a second sorceress war."
He paused here, holding his tongue as he checked for the reactions. This was not easy information to process, and a mission of this magnitude had never been accepted by Winhill before. And it would normally be unheard of for something like this to be handed to a bunch of greenhorns. "As of the moment, it appears that all of our top operatives are currently away dealing with other matters. You seven included, you will be joined by myself, Eamonn Ignatius, Kalay Laytos, and Lisanna Everett. We shall also be receiving support from the inside from an unnamed contact. You will receive the full briefing and the details of the mission and the execution tomorrow morning when we meet to move out to Deling City. Understand that this mission will not allow room for mistake, and if I find any of you a liability I will pull you from the mission. Is that understood?" Well, whether it was or not wasn't important, but procedure dictated that he posed the question regardless.

Salem Everett Level: ?? Health: Improved Magic: That violin Status: Playing music Location: The Classy Ballroom ____________________________________________________ Closing his eyes for a moment, now that his sister had taken the floor with Kalay, when his lids reopened to reveal his sister looking at him. Giving him a small nod before turning her head back to what most likely could be aptly described as her main squeeze. Salem let a confident smirk take over his expression range, "Follow my lead, Gentlemen." With that, whatever other delays that could have kept him from playing never appareled, as his fingers moved across strings as he moved his bow. Finally beginning to play a song that he hoped would be the right thing for this moment. As long as he hadn't misinterpreted their relationship.
It was odd, honestly, usually so attuned to garnering attention to himself for other exploits, once again he found himself mutely playing music not for his own benefit. But for another, and he hadn't even been asked either. Still, watching his sister and her date, he would just let whatever they had between them play out. Though, perhaps assisted just a bit with his music. It was honestly a perfect distraction form what his original purpose here was. Hopefully enough to not let him question why so many had gone back and forth to the Headmaster's room.

They had made it back to the ballroom alright, but upon getting back there things got a little awkward with how Kalay had responded. He could see Lisanna's uncertainty in his words or how to take them, but she did move closer, taking his hand as she watched him almost warily. She probably couldn't tell what he was thinking just by looking at him, his yellow eyes managing to not betray his feelings as he watched her. She mentioned if he didn't want to, he didn't need to dance with her, but for a moment a faint smirk caught the side of his lips as he watched her. "And miss the moment to dance with the lovely Miss Everett? I don't think I'd pass that up, even if the ball was up in flames." Kalay responded, putting his hand on her hip gently, holding their clasped hands out a bit. He had to take the moment to adjust his foot, and he clearly thought for a moment before taking in what Lisanna added shortly later with a chuckle.
"That's interesting. I'm not exactly the most outgoing partner." He responded with a chuckle, knowing full well he wouldn't have asked her to dance without Carbuncle's prodding. Regardless though, he glanced to the stage as he heard the music start, taking in the details of what appeared to be Salem playing. He was good. Well, best not make Lis and Salem think he couldn't dance then if Salem was doing something like this. "This is kind of nice." Kalay commented, slowly going into the steps, making sure Lisanna was ready before he went full into the steps. He wasn't exactly a picture perfect dancer, and it kind of looked like he might have been making things up, but he certainly didn't stumble over Lisanna, or push her this way or that. As it were, Kalay had once been to a SeeD Ball himself and had known how to dance then, but after a few years of avoiding these kinds of things, you tend to forget. That was his excuse anyways, so as much as it looked like he was leading, he was also using Lisanna to get an idea for how he should move depending on how she moved to his movements.
'He's good, as expected.' Kalay thought as he listened to the music, moving to it. After a moment, he realized there was something he actually wanted to ask Lisanna, but hesitated as he wondered if it were appropriate for the moment. "What are you going to tell Salem." Kalay asked, watching Lisanna seriously. What could she say? It wasn't like she could say what her mission was, nor could she really not tell him she might die in the upcoming days. Perhaps Salem would expect that if he knew of SeeD though, so maybe it wouldn't be a surprise. Still, the chance of dying here was... vastly higher than anything Lisanna had probably done. Maybe it would work out though. Maybe.

She looked much like Ellale did as her eyes glanced from one thing to the next in the room. The girl allowed for the other to pull her along further into the room as they made their way to the chair that Ellale had picked. When she finally glanced down at her a small smile rested on her lips as her partner and friend made room for her. Taking a seat next to her she gave a soft sigh. She herself was starting to feel a bit sore and stiff. Tae needed to stretch out more often than she had. Sitting in bed and a chair for almost three whole days was hard on ones muscles to suddenly be constantly on ones feet. She had to admit though, actually seeing the inside of this room wasn't what it was all cracked up to be. Sure it was the headmasters office and said to hold things that only privileged people could see. So far the only thing that she could see was a tea set perfect for office and smaller room settings. No kitchen or stove needed. The fine details on the cups looked to be done by hand and very old. However, from where she sat she couldn't really tell all of the details on it. Not that there was enough time for her to sit there and stare at it. Taking a sip at the juice she'd picked up on her way here they were joined by the rest of the team and one male. Her eyes gazed over at him as he sat so his back was against the wall and his eyes could rest easily on everyone in the room. Tae allowed her eyes to slowly move from the man, as so not to be caught just staring at him, to the rest before coming to stop on Ellale and then to the liquid in her own up. Whatever it was that they had been called in here for she was a bit worried about. Even more so now that there was someone she didn't know sitting in the room with them. It wasn't so much as the man himself and how he presented himself and his aurora but the fact that he was in here at such an important meeting. The only thing that came to mind was that perhaps there might be a mission they were being draft to do. Though, that still didn't make much sense why they couldn't have waited till after the ball to give them the details of it. No matter she didn't have to wait long before Sou-ho began to speak dragging her from her thoughts and gazed up at the man. Upon the strange mans name she'd turned her head and gaze to the male in question once more. Though it was more of the words Sou-Ho spoke than anything that had her turning again away from him. So she was right in that this was information about an upcoming mission. Instead of question the why's and when's she sat quietly, glancing over at Ellale. Whether it was just to look at her or to see how she was doing was anyone's guess. Once the doors were shut Sou-Ho began with letting them know that someone had broken in here earlier. A certain male popped into her mind and a million and one questions soon to follow that but she some how managed to push those thoughts aside when he started into the information on the mission itself. The dangers and risks they would all be taking. Of course Sou-Ho gave them a change to leave before the information began but as far as she could tell no one moved to leave the room. They were all in this. Her eyes blinked. They were to capture and subdue Sorceress Edea Kramer? The idea didn't seem possible to Tae. How on earth were greenhorns like themselves suppose to be able to do such a mission? It didn't seem possible but the garden was counting on them to do so. As Sou-Ho continued Tae's insides felt cold, perhaps her color in her face had drained away as well. They all could very well die in this mission. Her hand tightened against Ellale's towards the end of Sou-Ho's speech. Her gaze slowly went to the girl. Would she be a liability? Though Tae knew that the girl was more of a long range fighter, a sniper to be exact, than a close range like herself. She might be able to still be apart of the mission and not become a liability to anyone here. Though, the question remained. Did Tae really want to risk the girls life? I'll protect her with my life... Those words replayed themselves in Tae head. The words that she'd spoken to in promise to a strange GF. Will this be our last night together? Tearing her gaze from Ellale she glanced around the room at everyone present. ღ OOC: ღ

She caught the faintest hint of a smirk on his lips though, and when he finally commented and complimented her the pink tinge on her cheeks deepened and she looked down shyly. She didn’t know quite how to respond to something like that. ”A-Ah…uhm, th-thank you.” She stammered quietly. She still wasn’t sure if he really wanted to dance, but for now she’d just go along with it and hope he did. She waited for him to get into position, which he seemed to need to think about for a moment, causing Lisanna to smile in mild amusement. She knew he’d have been to things like this before but knowing Kalay he probably tried to avoid them too. His next comment made her chuckle faintly. ”You’re not really the most outgoing anything I guess.” She teased, also glancing at the stage again to see Salem begin to play. Kalay started to lead the dance and Lisanna followed, matching his slow steps. She didn’t really need to think about it too hard, it was just something that came naturally once you’d learnt it. At least for her anyway. She wasn’t sure Kalay knew entirely what he was doing but they seemed to be getting along fine for now.
She relaxed and gave Kalay a warm smile. ”I’m glad you like it.” She said sincerely, her dress rustling softly as she gracefully followed his movements. The music was beautiful, leading Lisanna to wonder where her brother had learnt to play the violin so skilfully. She’d have to ask him later perhaps. There was a lot she wanted to ask him before…well, tomorrow. As if Kalay had read her mind he spoke and she closed her eyes for a moment. ”I….I don’t know.” She answered honestly after a moment of thought. She had debated not telling him anything to keep him from worrying, or perhaps simply letting him know she was going on a dangerous mission, but either way if she died it would probably still hurt him. And if it was the other way around…Lisanna knew she’d want to know. So she’d say something to him eventually. She just didn’t know what just yet. The girl shook her head. ”Let’s not talk of such things.” She suggested pleasantly and fell silent for a few minutes, merely content to enjoy the music and the feeling of being here like this with Kalay. She could forget everything else for a little while.
As they danced the girl thought of something and smiled playfully. She lifted her hand off his shoulder, which was still holding the rose, and gently raised it to his lips to indicate that he should take it in his mouth. ”Please…?” She said lightly, giving him her best impression of puppy dog eyes. And speaking of small furry creatures…Lis glanced around for a moment whilst she waited for Kalay to take the rose. ”Hey, where did Carbuncle disappear to anyways? He just dashed off so suddenly…” She wondered out loud, looking back at Kalay again with a curious expression. Her feet continued to move in time to the music and her partner movements as she danced with him. They weren’t exactly tearing up the dance floor but the slow, romantic music Salem was playing didn’t call for that kind of thing anyway, which Lis was fine with.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬⊰ ✮ ⊱▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬'I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Varitas Durentis Level: 15 Health: Calm Magic: N/A Status: Contemplative=========================================== Standing with his back braced firmly against the wall in the corner, Varitas' eyes cut through the room. they scanned and percieved, the group of people he's found himself locked into the room with. His body language though clearly on edge was far from agressive, more solid, than fidgety. He caught the few stares from those who hadn't known him, but dismissed them as he recalled how long he stared the first time he saw a stranger in the Centra wastes. Sou-ho was short and to the point, and clearly by the weight of the words when he spoke the target's name and that some political official would be there made this a big deal.
First question, have we worked out a path to where we will engage the target, I don't think disguises will work well enough to get us access. as most forces will be more on edge when leadership is in transition... Varitas was drawing from some of the raids they used to run on the bandits. After a leader was killed or taken out, they found the store rooms less guarded, but the new leader more heavily protected than ever before. "I could be wrong but knowing the plan of entering and infiltrating could prove useful." His voice rang out with an entirely businesslike tone. The fact they were to be sent to capture a leader of a country seeming to be the same as telling any other person to go buy milk. Assuming they didn't know which store the milk you wanted was at. And that the milk would be in some conveluted device or after a set of challenges was met. "Also, who will be directing this mission in the field, will we be separated into squads? Or will all of this be addressed later?" Varitas' cold battle hardened eyes focused on Sou-ho for the next moments as he awaited responses to his questions. The talk of the reson he'd come here being something of a comfort to him. For the time being he didn't offer up the thought of the young platinum blonde sky-jumper even though he stated something about a break in.

Rather quickly everyone showed up from Aurel, or at least what had been the two groups that Ellale had been apart of. She watched the others enter, taking the moment to smile at Tae as she sat with her. Sou-ho welcomed the strange man at the back of the room by name, which at least gave her a name to put with the face, before he started into speaking to all of them. If the mood wasn't already strangely tense, that was certainly fixed when Sou-ho had the door closed and cast a spell on it, silence, before speaking frankly with all of them. Ellale blinked, uncertain of how this was going to go given how he was starting, causing her to nervously glance at Tae. What was going on? Someone had broken in? She managed to understand whatever was about to be said was not to be spoken on lightly, but then why give them the choice? Then, he gave a stern look to everyone, beginning into a long mission briefing. He gave a choice to leave, which no one took, before continuing into the full details.
What Sou-ho had to say literally drained the color from Ellale's face. She stared at him with shock, no words coming to her lips as she watched him. She'd heard of the news about the Sorceress, but this was absurd. Capture her? They'd be lucky if they could even get to her! Ellale didn't need to hear the end, her body going numb as she listened. Ellale barely even noticed Tae grip her hand tighter. Ellale was no fool, the chance of success of this was... dangerously low. She wasn't even sure what she was supposed to say in response, she just stared in silence, her yellow eyes a mix of disbelief and concern. Was the point to get them killed? Ellale couldn't think of any reason they would be strong enough to fight a Sorceress. They had barely made it out of Aurel alive, how could someone expect them to compete with a sorceress?! What perhaps shocked her more were the names of those joining them. Two instructors and another SeeD. What didn't make sense was two instructors were coming. They were instructors, they were supposed to stay at the Garden. Were things really that grim to send four ranked SeeD?
What Sou-ho said at the end had Ellale drop her gaze. She knew better than to assume she wasn't a liability. She was still hurt, however... she didn't need to be up close to fight. If anything, she could play that to her advantage, that and given some rest she should be fine. Hopefully Sou-ho didn't now of her having just been released from the medical ward. If so, he probably wouldn't have had her come, or so she assumed. It was sad though, because she couldn't help but feel she'd lose Tae. If she was forced to stay, Tae would go and might not return. Even if she were to go, she could die or Tae could die anyways, and there would be no coming back. Ellale glanced out of the corner of her eye at Tae whom seemed to be watching her. 'Our last night...' She thought faintly, turning her gaze to the side as the man in the back spoke up, asking questions. The man was serious, his tone cutting to the point in his questions. He had things he wanted answered, with no desire to wait till the next day for the answers to come. Ellale closed her eyes and laid her head against Tae's shoulder with a soft sigh. Well, her evening has officially gone from a dream to a nightmare.┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Magic

Sou-Ho could see that Ellale and Tae seemed visibly shaken by the news, which made Sou-Ho's brows furrow in thought, staring at the two before the weight of the silence was lifted by Varitas. Sou-Ho turned his gaze to the stranger, who, unexpectedly seemed to take the information in stride. 'Of course, he knows nothing of politics. To him, this is just another person.' Sou-Ho thought, in a way glad for that.
"Your questions will be addressed later, Mr. Durentis, but I will go over them now just so you all have an idea for how things have been planned to go." Planned, but not expected. Sou-Ho folded his hands as he spoke, taking a position most comfortable for him while still maintaining his stature of control. He did not edge away from Varitas's hard gaze, but returned it with a surprising calmness. Albeit a cool calmness, like a frosted serenity. "Our entry to the city will be provided to us by our previously mentioned unnamed insider. And if things go well, he should also be our means out. Because of a recent skirmish we had with Galbadian forces in the city of Aurel several days ago, we had to make last minute changes to our plans. As the city is under Galbadian control, we did not wish to risk any one recognizing us upon entry of the city. They will undoubtedly have a checkpoint set up to control the flow of who enters and leaves the city. Which, if you can imagine, is why our insider will be so important.
"Even more so once they know that we will be prioritizing our escape after the success of our mission. Getting out of the city will be difficult, even more so than getting in, and because of that we decided to take a means they would hopefully not be able to anticipate. And even if they did, do anything about." Sou-Ho gave a wry smile at that, though it seemed somewhat forced.
"We shall be navigating the city via the sewer systems which run almost throughout the entire city. We'll use the system to slip the city and into the presidential mansion, where Edea Kramer is currently staying. If we succeed with that, we will have to make haste to subdue her before she is officially made ambassador. At which point, any act we make against her will result in a definite war, and each and every one of us will be charged with treason." Although he was addressing Varitas's question, Sou-Ho made sure to direct this to everyone as well, speaking firmer than before while staring hard at Taeria and Ellale, hoping that they weren't so shaken as to be unable to follow the conversation. If that were the case he would pull them from the mission right on the spot. They were SeeDs now, and even as distressing as this news was they would have to swallow whatever it was they would told now. They were soldiers. Mercenaries. They accepted orders and followed them without question. A thought which made Sou-Ho grimace, but one he had accepted a long time ago.
"At that point you will not have a lot of time," He continued, now addressing the group before them with even more seriousness than before. "Once they are aware that she is gone, there will be pursuit, and escaping the city will become your main priority. Like I said, once they are aware that Edea Kramer is in danger or missing, they will undoubtedly make any attempt out of the city as difficult as possible. That is where our insider will come in. He will arrange for a distraction, that will give you all the chance you need to escape. You will take the sewers again, as they will have a harder time pursuing you once down there, but should you become separated or lost you should all try to rendezvous outside of the city. At the city's limits there will be transport and an escort that will take you all to Winhill Garden. At which point, as soon as you have escaped the city and left behind any pursuers, your mission shall be done."
It was a pretty simple plan. Get in, kidnap the target, and escape. If only the details weren't so complicated. "And to address your final question, Durentis, there will be two teams. One team, which will consist of you six operatives, will be led by Eamonn Lancaster. For simplicity's sake, you shall be referred to as team red. The second team will be led by myself, and shall include Kalay Laytos and Lisanna Everett, and for reference sake will be referred to as team blue. Team red shall prioritize capture of Sorceress Edea Kramer, while team blue will focus on acting as support for team red.
"Ah. While I am organizing teams... Everyone, this is Varitas Durentis. He is... a survivor from Centra, who has agreed to aid us in our mission in Deling in return for some support of our own." Sou-Ho stood up and gestured to Varitas in the corner, directing their attention to him as he announced to them who he was. In turn, as he pointed out everyone else to Varitas, he spoke their name and gestured to them at the same time. "Varitas, this is Nona Winchester, Lloyd Nipal and Sophia Vinginshy. Ellale Laytos, Kalay Laytos's younger sister, and beside her Taeria Limmari. And in the corner opposite you Riyel Vicaria. Each of them are operatives, several of whom graduated with some of the highest grades and had the highest performance during the mission in Aurel."
With everyone covered, he turned back to Varitas, bowing slightly but not taking his eyes off the man as he did so. "And I am Sou-Ho Nebulous. Instructor and operative of Winhill Garden, and in charge of team blue, as well as in charge of organizing this mission and ensuring it's absolute success. That said, I would like it if you remained behind. There are some details I would like to go over regarding your place in the mission."
"As for the rest of you," He said, addressing everyone else, "That is all I have to share regarding the mission. I think I have covered everything you will need to know for now, as everything else will be explained in full tomorrow morning. You will all meet in the lobby tomorrow morning, and we will exit the garden and board transport to Deling City. You are all free to enjoy your evening, or what is left of it. Stay out of trouble," This he said with a reproving glance at Riyel, "And make the most of it. Tomorrow will be a busy day for all of us."

Kalay seemed rather amused when she teased him, picking on him about not liking to go out of his way for just about anything. Well, he had to give her that. As the started to dance it was made clear to Kalay that Lisanna did indeed know what she was doing, which was helpful with his ability to be quick in catching up with things. It took only a while, and the two were moving fluidly like the rest of the dancers. How long had it been since he'd danced? The last person he'd danced with... well that was years ago. He could barely remember it. The pair went somewhat quiet as the dance continued, aside from quiet discussion about what Lisanna would do with her brother. She didn't seem like she wanted to talk about it as they continued along though. In fact, given the chance she suggested they not talk about such things and enjoy their dance, which he was alright with. Of course, Lisanna decided to have some more fun with the dance and eventually held the rose to his lips, Kalay giving her a curious look before taking the rose in his mouth with a chuckle and smirking at her.
She asked about Carbuncle after he had taken the rose, so the best he could do was give her a shrug. He didn't want to tell her that he had returned in a fit of anger, not wanting to deal with anyone anymore after what had happened. Carbuncle was of course not happy at all, which could be expected given how close Carbuncle and Kalay were. Kalay made a strange mumbling sound with the rose in his mouth before chuckling as if he picked up any hope of talking was lost. He could suffice with less talking though as he spun with Lisanna, taking the moment to glance past her at Salem before returning his eyes to Lisanna. It was strange thinking this could be their last night alive. Was there anything he wanted to do before the night was over? He could think of a few things, but only one or two he'd willingly act on. Perhaps when he was done dancing he'd take the chance to go off on his own and think for a while. They could probably all do some good with that. He'd have to think on it though, after all he didn't want to leave Lisanna all on her own.

Nona found the drink a blessing in the next couple of minutes while the room slowly filled up. She didn’t press the conversation when others began to appear, but didn’t let the gathering crowd disturb her enjoyment of the beverage. The quiet and the uncertainty of what was ahead wanted to unnerve her, but as Nebulous had claimed, the hot drink was pleasantly calming. Whether it was more the smooth taste or just having something to occupy herself with, Nona wasn’t sure, but it didn’t really matter. She finished it just as Sou-Ho was making his opening statements and set it on the desk in front of her carefully.
It wasn’t just an opening, though. The imperative secrecy of the mission was demonstrated when he took the time to cast a spell, which Nona could only imagine was a use of Silence, directed past the gathered crowd. The room was too far removed from the ball for them to hear the music even without the supposed spell, but she would have bet her bottom gil she was right. As if that weren’t enough, there was a simple dilemma offered to the group at large immediately after: stay and listen, or drop out of the mission. News of a break-in in the office made her nostrils flare faintly as the image of the disheveled office flashed back into her thoughts. Not a good start to a secret task.
Nona didn’t budge from her seat when the offer was made. Her back may have stiffened a bit, and her chin may have raised a little, but there was no sign of retreat. She listened for the door rather than look back toward it; no one made a move. The instructor continued. Nona’s mind had already been running over possible scenarios that would warrant something like this, but the actual task came as much of a surprise to her as anyone else in the room. As if dealing with a sorceress in the first place wasn’t supposed to be enough trouble, they were supposed to capture one? How in the world was someone supposed to contain a creature like that? Even as her mind reeled, she listened.
”Understood,” she repeated when asked, crossing her arms. To consider. The stranger, Varitas, was asking questions early, apparently not familiar with how things went. Still, the information might be good to process, and she listened for the rest. Secrets, sewers and a sorceress... she thought without amusement. Then, however, she found herself smirking. This was what she wanted, right? It was what being a SeeD was all about. She wouldn’t disappoint. As the group was dismissed, she got up and headed for the door. ”See you in the morning,” she told the group at large, and was gone.
Nona speculated on the mission while heading back to the ballroom. She could have gone to the elevator instead, since she realized upon arrival she had no desire to take to the floor again, but once she was there she found she didn’t want to leave the music. A glance up toward the stage revealed Salem had taken up his expected role, leading the small orchestra with his violin. The sound of the instrument soothed her some, and she took to walking along the edge of the room. One of the balconies greeted her soon, and she stepped out into the night air with the music floating out to follow her. As cavalier as she wanted to be, she knew the facts. This could be her last night at the Garden. The girl leaned on the balcony railing with her arms and peered out across the expanse. Following the spire of one of the connecting areas up, she found herself looking up toward the sky.
The starry expanse above Winhill was breathtaking even for one like Nona. Unlike Timber or Galbadia Garden, close as it was to Deling City, light pollution was nearly nonexistent here. The skies were clear at night, and the arm of the galaxy seemed to sweep across the heavenly expanse.

Junction //~ Zethar Level //~ 7 {+6 exp} Health //~ 600/600 Location //~ Winhill Garden Magic //~ Blizzard (2), Aero (1), Haste (1), Cure (2)▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬⊰ ✮ ⊱▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬It amused Lis to no end that Kalay consented to take the rose in his mouth and so she didn’t even mind that he couldn’t answer her question about Carbuncle. She just chuckled at the sight of him and continued the dance, letting him lead to the music. Even though she knew they might both die tomorrow, at that moment she felt perfectly happy to just be like this with him. Eventually as the song began to end she hesitantly stepped closer to Kalay and wrapped her arms around his neck gently, resting her head on his shoulder and slowing her steps so that it effectively became a slow dance. The girl closed her eyes and relaxed. ”I hope I remember this feeling…” She said softly, mostly to herself.
Finally as she heard Salem draw out the last few tender notes she stopped and somehow pulled herself away from Kalay, smiling up at him. For a moment she didn’t seem to know what to say, but soon enough she found her voice again. ”Thank you for the dance…it was perfect…” Lisanna glanced across at where Salem still stood on the stage before looking back to Kalay a little sheepishly. ”I, uhm, have something to do…but you should go and enjoy the rest of your night, okay? Don’t worry about me.” She stepped close again, reaching up to gently take the rose from his mouth whilst at the same time kissing his cheek, then pulling back. ”I’ll find you later, I promise.”
With a faint blush on her cheeks she gave her partner a last shy nod before moving past him, heading towards the stage. Truth be told she might have liked to dance with him for a while longer…but she desperately needed to speak to Salem and she wasn’t sure for how long her brother intended to stay. Also, she had seen how both Kalay and Carbuncle had reacted earlier…and knowing how close they were with each other, she figured they’d want their own time to deal with what they’d heard…at least for a while. Lisanna looked over her shoulder one last time but dancing couples had filled the space where she’d walked, so she couldn’t tell if he was still there or if he’d gone already. She smiled to herself before moving to stand in front of the stage, looking up at Salem with an affectionate, yet somehow also sad, expression.
”Hey…where did my little brother learn to play so beautifully?” She asked, twirling the rose between her fingers absentmindedly. ”I’m honestly curious. I suppose there’s much we have to learn about each other though. Salem…when you’re done playing here…will you join me? So we can talk?” Lis smiled a little nervously and waited for his response. She didn’t know if he was obligated to stay and perform, or if he could leave the stage right now and talk her. She was willing to wait for him somewhere if he couldn’t come with her just yet.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬⊰ ✮ ⊱▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬'I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Riyel "The Quiet One" Vicaria Now I think I understand How this world can overcome a man Like a friend we saw it through In the end I gave my life for you Gave you all I had to give Found a place for me to rest my head While I may be hard to find Heard there's peace just on the other side

Huh....out of the frying pan and soon to be thrown into an open flame. Did he use that phrase correctly? Well...it certainly did NOT matter now. As he stood there in the back, his eyes continuing to watch Sou-Ho deliver the overall summary of the mission and the selective details, no thoughts really ran through his mind. Rather, it was just an empty and vacant stare that was almost comparable of a trance. The information flowed into his mind and while it was processed, he really did not comprehend the immensity of it until Sou-Ho simply closed his mouth and allowed the others to realize the weight that had been placed upon them. Riyel had continued to stare. Yet, in an instant, he snapped out of it while his mind began to fully grasp all of the information that had been thrust upon them. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see Ellale and Tae tense up at what Sou-Ho had told them about this mission. It was understandable. But for the first time upon hearing something like this, Riyel wasn't the first to be shivering in anticipation or apprehension. A feeling of wear hit him instead. A Sorceress...of all things, a Sorceress. Fairy tales were all that Riyel seemed to know about him, his knowledge being based around those thigns that his grandmother and in an odd bit of memory, his parents had told them. That made an even greater feeling of atrophy press onto his body. They had already escaped narrowly with their own lives just a few days ago, and now someone thought it would be funny to send the still worn graduates into a second level of Hell, prospectively the third or fourth level? Obviously. Riyel only looked at Lloyd, trying to obtain some stray thought from the man's movements but nothing was given to him. Nona had walked out of the room, himself catching this from the corner of his eye. Off to do her own thing, supposedly. Slowly, his eyelids closed as he leaned back against the wall, his eyes seeing darkness as he went over the information once more in his head. It was time to see what his own thoughts on this were. The Sorceress Edea. A deadly task in the middle of a hostile environment. It could be considered comical but there was no time for comedy as it seemed. Nor is there time for regret. No time for regret. The thought had surfaced in his head before he could realize it. No time for regret. A phrase that could easily cover the entirety of this night. Two teams, Red and Blue...he would be assaulting the Sorceress. Something caught in the blonde's throat as he stood, a glance at Sou-Ho then the new man, Varitas, who would be accompanying them on their way there. He merely nodded at the group, departing with few words: "Enjoy this." Those two words could refer to anything...but Riyel was referring to the night, for it was all that they would have left, "Be ready in the morning." His voice wasn't light, it was hard and full of an odd drive, walking out of the room and closing the door without another second passing by. There was no noise that filled his ears. He was consumed in his own thoughts and not even the cacophony of music could pierce through the veil that he had placed over his ears and mind. He passed by a group of other SeeD graduates, brushing past them roughly and heading to the elevator. They only looked at the blonde as he passed, not even commenting on how he had knocked through them. They had seen the commotion in the ballroom and just knew that something else was pestering the SeeD. With a quick punch of the button, he was heading down to the main floor, walking up to the pool and looking in the water. Was he afraid? Usually, he would have immediately shook his head in response to that. That last mission was a good example. There was that pre-disposed weakness to the entity known as death. The thing that had taken his parents, from what his grandmother had said...and the thing that had taken his grandmother. His hand immediately went to the Ocarina that continued to lay in the pouch by his heart. Sitting down for a moment, he took off his Ocarina and his shoes before simply stepping into the reflection pool. It may seem stupid or even crazy but what did it matter to him? This could be his last night...and he would do as he desired for the moment. And it wasn't like it drastic. He simply stepped into the middle of the pool and looked up, the stars being bright in the sky. Beauty. That was the word for it. The only proper one anyway. He knelt down and grasped the water in his hands, sending ripples throughout the entirety of the pool. But even as he did what was doing, he still thought. No...there wasn't any fear...at least not by itself. He could presume that everyone felt that stab of fear, a natural sense that was accustomed to any normal human entering a dangerous situation. With it, there was a sense of odd clarity, finalty, and...a sense of a challenge. Maybe Salem's headbutt had caused more damage to him than he realized. His eyes continued to look at the stars, this time on the pool surface. No regrets. It could be his last night here...on this Garden. In this place that he called home. He stepped out of the pool and placed his shoes on, grasping the pouch and continued walking. Still, he did not head back to his room. His mind was thriving, even though there was a weight of tiredness on his back. Simply, he walked outside, sitting on the steps. There wasn't much else to think about. The inclination to go to sleep was just not there yet, which became more apparent as he pulled out the Ocarina from the pouch and placed it to his mouth. Thus, did he begin to Play. There was nothing else he felt like doing this night.

I’m coming home to Winhill Well, this was tiring. Ivaria had finally decided to socialize a little bit, as a couple of graduates came up to her asking for a dance. Well, its not like she had much else to do. She came here on a whim and thus felt no real reason to just say no. Anything to break the ice of boredom. Back and forth she swayed in the middle of the ballroom, no longer dancing with the graduates but rather with the other SeeD of the Garden. If there was any sign of emotion on her face, it was completely hidden as she broke away from her dance partner, the man's eyes continuing to watch her as she strutted away towards the drinks, grasping one in her hand and emptying its contents quicker than Eamonn ate burgers. She felt a little light headed from all the dancing but it wasn't all that bad. At least she was trying to become better acquainted with the people she worked with. Trying.
Looking back, the SeeD she was dancing with waved his hand towards her and she only acknowledged him with a nod, taking another drink before looking around. Sou-Ho and the others had not yet returned, so perhaps the mission was more detailed than she expected. Or maybe she wasn't going to go on this mission. Not that it would bother her. Missions were only something that occupied her time and occupied it well with something known as money and exercise. If she didn't take missions, she would have probably become a couch potato but then that woman's desire to stay fit still stood strong within her. Her hands went to the sides of her dress, her blonde hair swaying as she looked around. The blonde, Riyel, left the room after the Winchester girl, who had entered one of the balconies. The others were still in the room however. Ivaria only shrugged and walked towards the seats, desiring to a rest for a moment. More people were sitting down but there was a loud and boisterous man standing there, the one she had seen earlier messing with the other blonde that had entered the room with Sou-Ho...Lloyd was it? Well...maybe this would be entertaining...maybe.
I’ll take you everywhere I go I’ll show you everything I see And as we say so long I know your tears wish me well It won’t be long till I’m back again We will meet again, we will meet again, you’ll see
I’m coming home to Winhill

Kalay didn't show much of a visible reaction when Lis slowed down, slipping closer to him and putting her arms around his neck loosely. He slowed his motions, moving with her into the slow dance, his arms wrapping around her gently. She spoke, her words soft, and to her statement that probably needed no response, a soft answer resounded with confidence. "You will, definitely." After that, Lisanna came slowly to a stop with the end of the music before pulling back from him with a smile. She had the strength to smile which was good, and in good confidence, Kalay returned her smile. "Thank you for the chance. Go talk with him." Kalay said in response remaining still as she kissed his cheek and took the rose before pulling back. She said she'd find him later, but she'd find that harder than she anticipated. Kalay watched as she went, waiting until she was in the crowd. By the time she looked back, Kalay was no longer there, having disappeared into the crowd without a sound.
It was hard to say where the man disappeared to. If asked, some of those standing in the hall would suggest they had seen a green haired instructor disappearing into an elevator after passing Nona, but on the first floor there wasn't really anyone to ask. At best, Riyel could have been asked but even then the most one could discern from that was that the instructor seemed to be heading in the direction of the dorms, but upon arriving at the dorms asking anyone standing around they would find that he had never actually made it. The last person to see anything was a strange green rabbit like Gf walking past the dorm and hopping down to the grassy fields below, but never a sign of the gf's owner.
"She'll know where to find me if she searches hard enough."
