"Ace of Clubs..." Karuta said softly without having to look at the card. "Only one card to go... Find the King of Diamonds..."

Ryou flipped over the very last card in the set. The one labeled sixteen.

Karuta kept her eyes on Ryou, a small grin returning to her lips. "Queen of Clubs. Incorrect. Strike two... One move left. Two cards to choose from, but only one is correct..." His choices were cards thirteen and fifteen, and also the final choice in deciding who wins the bet.

Ryou flipped over the fifteenth card without hesitation.

Karuta's grin widened at the last card: The Jack of Diamonds. "Looks like you lose~" she said with a smirk. She twitched her hand and the card marked thirteen flipped over, revealing the King of Diamonds.

Ryou looked at her with no emotion on his face. "Based on the riddle, and the way the cards are set up, the King of Diamonds should have been to the right. You rigged the game, therefore, you lose." he smirked.

Karuta merely stared back at Ryou with the same smirk. "The cards themselves can be in any order as long as they follow the riddle. 'The Ace of Clubs and the King of Diamonds are closer than expected.' You are correct that they are next to each other, but the fact that I said that they are closer than expected mean they are closer to the beginning of the line than expected. Another example is the Jack of Hearts watching the Queen of Spades from afar. As long as the two cards are on the ends of the line, it follows the riddle." She held up her hand and snapped once. The cards levitated into mid air and collected in a small stack in her hand.

Ryou shrugged, laying back in the grass, his eyes closed, his legs crossed and his hands behind his head. "True, however, when you lead one on to believe a set like that is linear, not only that, you also said the cards were ordered in accordance to the riddle. Therefore, misleading the opponent. A nice strategy, however, when using riddles and saying that you have to be careful. A small mislead, ending with the opponent losing, could end up with you losing your life." he shrugged. "I don't mind losing, and even if I had won, you still would have gotten my end of the deal." he said looking up at her. "My idea of a first date is getting to know the other person."

Karuta put the cards away and laid down next to him in the grass. She only had her hands resting on her stomach while staring up at the sky. "I always have an escape plan," she started out saying, then turned her head slightly to look at him. "And I guess that's a good idea for a first date... Does that mean you got your date anyways even if I won the game?"

Ryou nodded slightly closing his eyes. "I knew I was going to lose, mostly because the card I chose, I did on purpose. Also, because I figured that knowing you're a gambler, you had a trick up your sleeve. That's why I bet that either way the game went, we both won. So, what do you want to know first?"

Karuta couldn't help a soft giggle, probably the first real laugh in years. "I don't care what you tell me. I was alright with actually losing this one to be honest."

Ryou thought for a moment before holding his right hand up into the sky, Oblivion appearing in it. "Well to start off. This is my darkness. The other one you saw is my light. The keyblades I wield balance me out so that I can think straight. What I said earlier is true. I am an orphan, and both of my parents are dead. I do run the middle road, but unlike you I'm not a gambler. I tend to do what I want, and I've done work for both sides. So I guess, in reality I'm a mercenary. I usually have to be made offers."

Karuta looked up at Oblivion, tilting her head slightly with a small smile. She raised her own right hand and The Joker's Trick appeared in it's normal form. "Gambling is my life. Cards and games are all I know... It's been suspected that my birth parents were major gamblers and such as well, and that my obsession with cards is almost genetic. It runs through my blood, and is clearly proven by my keyblade The Joker's Trick." She lifted her left hand just enough so she could point out the charms at the end of her keyblade's chain. "Heart, Spade, Club, and Diamond. The four card suits of different personalities... different battlestyles... all placed on the line to either win or lose... die or survive..."

Ryou dismissed Oblivion. "A gambler to the very core. Hope that doesn't actually kill you. I'd hate to see that happen."

"That's why I'm the best~" Karuta said, staring up at her keyblade. She tossed it into the air and it came down pointing directly at her heart. Before it actually hit her heart, it disappeared and she let her arm rest by her side again. Karuta was quiet before turning her head to Ryou again. "So... Why would you hate to see that happen anyways?..."
