"I'm not so sure myself Lydia" Yamato said as she prepared to fight.
Yori looked around at all of them. They just stood there quietly. "They feel different then the evil spirits...you think they're purified or something?"

Yamato looked over at Lydia showing a very confused look on her face. "Yori, are you ok?"
"Of course i am! What i'm trying to say is that their presence feels different...its hard to describe." at that moment the spirits moved toward them slowly. Yori jolted, but stood his ground firmly "Don't do anything. They want something...or they..." he craned his head straining to hear what they were saying to him "They want to give me something? Lydia, can you hear them or is it just me?"

Yamato stood there anxious wishing she could help, but the truth is, she's felt weaker since she was captured and her hand to hand combat would be the most effective. She already felt drained, she couldn't imagine that her powers would be worth using.
Yori frowned a bit "It's irritating, it's like i'm hearing static."
Then suddenly all the spirits lined up and started floating quickly to Yori
"Step back!" he shouted as he roughly pushed Lydia and Yamato out of the way. The spirits didn't hurt him, instead it was like Yori was absorbing them and with a blink of an eye they were all gone. Yori gasped out of breath on his knees, his arms shaking, trying to keep him up. "I...I feel stronger. Is this how I survive?! I feed off of souls now?! I'm no different then the bad guys!"

Yori sighed as he stood up, swaying back and forth. "Guess I'm not as strong as I thought I was..." He looked over at Yamato and helped her up, then walked over to Lydia "Are you guys alright? Sorry I pushed you so hard, I didn't know what would happen."
All of a sudden Yamato snapped her fingers "I remember! I remember the rest of the story...! It went the same way, the brother who saved his sister absorbed the souls because he was growing weaker like his sister. The brother was easily possessed by spirits because he could easily absorb their power...that's how he lives on."
"Then why can't you do the same?" Yori asked painfully
"Because, my soul cannot accept them, if i were to absorb spirits like you just did i could end up a monster. They would shove my original soul out of my body so that they have enough room in my body." Yamato stated matter-of-factually.

"Hey, just because there's a 'prophecy' doesn't mean it's all right. It's an ancient story, maybe it got changed somehow?" Yori stated as he started walking "What i don't understand is why this happened so early...i would think i would start absorbing them once Yamato..." He cleared his throat "There must have been a reason for them to do something like this. They said they wanted to give me something and i guess they wanted to give me power...but why now? Maybe there's something out there waiting for us at the end of the forest..."

Yori shrugged "We could sit here all day and think about all the possibilities, but it won't answer our questions. We have to keep moving."
With that Yamato grabbed the backpack that had gotten lighter over time and started leading the way. If anything it looked like she was holding most of the emotional damage as Yori noticed that Yamato hadn't talked as much as she used to. It was like he didn't know his sister, like he saved someone else. It confused him, but he understood that even though she put up a strong exterior she was slowly breaking down inside as the journey continued. He sighed and started running past her, then all of a sudden, he started floating. "W-wwhoaaaa!" he shouted as he fell back to the ground.Yori stood up dusting himself off "I wonder if there's anything else new they gave me...?" He gasped as though a light bulb lit up. "Maybe that's what they meant by giving me something...I wonder how long I'll be able to have these powers..." Yamato said nothing as she continued walking like she was in her own little world. Yori had a concentrated face; his eyes squeezed shut as he tried to float "Darn it, how does this work?" he said as he hit his fist in a tree. He jumped up and again started floating, leaving a dent in the tree where he had punched it "Yay!" he said as he did 'back flips' in a circle. "This is waaaay too much fun." he said as he placed himself back on the ground obviously not noticing the dent in the tree.

Yamato snapped out of it, Yori trailing behind. "No, not really..." she kept walking, but solemnly and she sighed wondering if she wanted to get into it. "It's just...I wanted to do so much more in life then just this...Ya know? The only reason why I'm holding on is because my brother needs me. I can't just leave him for what I want, not only that but if I do leave him he'll die and I would never forgive myself if I did that."

Yamato shook her head "The prophecy may not have said anything about an aquaintance, but we are greatful you came to our help. Yori truely is strong, but to be honest, he wouldn't have made it this far without you and I wouldn't be able to go on without you either. Not only are you helpful in battle, but you keep our emotions in check which makes this journey easier to deal with. We know that we're not the only ones that have a sad past because you opened up to us. I'm not quite sure what we may mean to you, but I'm glad that you are here reguardless of what you think."
Yori came running to catch up with Lydia and Yamato. He wrapped an arm around Lydia and Yamato, squeezing himself in the middle. "Hey, lets try and be positive about this. After all we only have a limited amount of time and i'd rather be happy so that i can properly mourn afterwards then we can enjoy life again and live for those we love." He said trying to brighten the mood. "Let's get ready for this battle up ahead and who knows, maybe after this, after all the sacrificing, maybe the world will be a better place among the spirits and humans. How bout it?"
