 Rufus felt baffled, but Meme didn't really know him yet. In his mind, it wasn't about trust because the cook - or any servant that had been with him since a young age - was simply family to him. Family he never wanted to sleep with. He'd charm the cook into giving him food - he'd always done so, and a motherly peck on the cheek wasn't harming anyone; he'd make sure his valet or his housekeeper got to their beds alright if they were ill or drunk.
Still, he didn't know how to phrase any of that in a way Meme would understand so he released him, smiled, and led the way to the dining room. "Cook will be in soon."

Trapped. ♫♪♫♪♫ Akito Nakamura ♪♫♪♫♪ Cybil and Jason giggled at Kuro's reaction, reaching down to stroke the dog and cuddle it whilst it tried to lick Kuro.
Akito got dressed and went for his door, but Todd stopped him. "'kito are you going away?"
He knelt down and slowly explained why and where he was going, saying he'd be back soon. Todd jumped into his arms and they walked down the stairs like that, hugging.

Meme smiled at him and joined him in the dining room. He found himself wanting to learn more about Rufus and the people who lived here with him, perhaps one day he will try to get to know the servants here and how they are related to Rufus.

Kuro's heart skipped a beat when he felt the dog licking him, it sent shivers up his spine to feel a dog that looked like an oversized rat lick him in such a manner. He noticed one of the children he had a hold of trying to pet and pick the dog up. The petting he didn't mind but he didn't want that dog any closer than what he was. Kuro put the two children together in front of him as a kind of barricade between him and the dog. "Akito, any day now!!" he called rather desperately.

Rufus sat beside Meme, picking up his napkin and placing it in his lap. He paused, curious. "Meme, do you know anything about 'etiquette'?"
He doubted it - he knew Meme had basic manners, but in his social circle they weren't enough. All the rules would need to be taught to his husband for those rare occasions when special guests came.

Trapped. ♫♪♫♪♫ Akito Nakamura ♪♫♪♫♪ Akito choked back a laugh. The butler, efficient in all ways, was floored by a little dog. He swung Todd around in his arms, making his brother laugh and scream as they ran to the group by the door. He hugged and tackled his brothers as the dog barked, licking anyone possible.
Akito picked all three of his brothers up and headed to the fire side, away from Kuro and quickly explained why and where he was going, being vague enough that his brothers couldn't harm their mission.
Once he was done, he hugged them all a final time and went to Kuro's side. "Ready to leave?"

Meme watched Rufus sit and prepare his surroundings for the meal to come, Meme almost admired the way Rufus sat so straight and attentive. Rufus had never really looked regal to Meme at any other time except for now. His admiration was put on hold at Rufus' question and blushed a little. "Yeah I do...but it's not the same as the royal version of etiquette. I don't know what all of the different forks, spoons, and bowls are....but I at least know what they're used for and I know how to use a napkin." To be quite honest Meme never understood why some meals required more than one fork, even if the forks were different sizes.

Kuro was glad to see Akito come out from the bedroom and take the dog away, he still kept his eye on the animal just in case the vermin decided to run over to him. He placed his hand against Akito's back once more and was the first one to escape the furry animal along with the children. "Lets get back to the castle quickly." he instructed, rather embarrassed to be so afraid of such a little dog.

Rufus nodded. "We'll get you some lessons whilst my father is here." he winced. "I didn't mean that to sound patronising, but my father can be harsh and I want to keep his mouth closed as much as possible since he won't be pleased when he finds out I'm already married."

((Sorry it took me so long, I've been on and off campus for the past few days. It's midterm time right now so I might be scarce)) ** Meme Pear **
Meme blushed and looked down at his empty plate, never really realizing how much of a strain this placed on Rufus until the man said that. It was almost enough to make Meme regret this whole plan in the first place. He was clearly overstepping his bounds and he wasn't sure how he could make it up to Rufus. "I see. I will try to practice a little bit." he said softly as he placed his napkin across his own lap as well. He wouldn't want to upset Rufus' father, the King had a reputation for being pretty brutal, at least that's what he heard from the other servants in the village who suffered at the King's wrath.

Kuro looked back at the yapping dog as it was stopped by the gate before he continued to walk with Akito back to the castle. He grumbled slightly at the thought that the rat had a liking for him. "He's lucky I didn't throw him through the roof...the yapping mutt..." he mumbled, his cheeks still slightly pink from embarrassment of being yelled at by the dog.

Rufus smiled at him gently. "Cook and some of the servants will go with you when you hide, so you can learn various things. If I can, I'll keep him away from you. He'll need to calm down and could do so best when he's away from here."
He beamed as Cook came in carrying the soup tureen and a ladle, followed by a kitchen maid holding a bread basket and a butter dish. "Thank you - remind me to get someone to carry-" he broke off to duck and hide a grin as Cook swatted at him.
"I have been carrying larger tureens of soup than this, for more years than you've been alive! I don't need help." She folded her arms, paused, then smiled and ruffled his hair. "But thank you." She left to return to the kitchens.
Rufus helped himself to the soup and bread rolls. "Starving!" He smiled and offered Meme some soup.

Meme nodded but he didn't feel very assured in the Prince's words, the King terrified many and those who were unfortunate enough to suffer at his hands were petrified when they were in his presence. He was glad that he would be kept away so the King had time to settle himself but he was still nervous. Meme smiled as he watched Rufus interact with the cook and thought how nice it would be to live with your family for so long. Meme wouldn't know what that felt like since all of the slaves he knew were either sold by their parents or their parents died long ago. It was sad, really. Meme was lucky, considering the options there were, he was sold into slavery but he didn't hate his parents for it. In fact he gave his parents the idea because if they didn't sell him, his parents would lose their house but they always told him that they would buy him back when they could. Sadly that day never came. When offered, Meme decided it couldn't hurt to eat just a little more, since he didn't eat much at breakfast time anyway.

Kuro turned his head away from Akito to hide his embarrassment. "Don't be foolish, I don't need protecting." he stated softly as they approached the castle, and soon, entered the dining room where Rufus and Meme were eating. Kuro bowed respectfully and waited for Akito to do the same before he spoke. "We are ready when you are Sire."

The Prince watched Meme as he ate, knowing something was wrong yet unable to say anything to help him. Luckily they were finishing as Akito and Kuro came in.
He wiped his mouth with the napkin on his lap, then cleared his throat. "We shall be with you momentarily. Kuro, could I ask you to talk to the servants and check that all preparations have been met?"

Trapped. ♫♪♫♪♫ Akito Nakamura ♪♫♪♫♪ Akito smiled to himself, following silently and bowing when they reached the Prince and Meme. "Morning Meme." He murmured, smiling at his friend before assuming a blank expression. He didn't like Rufus after yesterday, but he understood some of it so he would play nice.
Besides, Kuro needs me: the King and his friends will have hunting dogs with them. They always do.

Meme smiled when he saw Kuro and Akito, at least they would help get his mind off of his nerves for a minute or two. He ate his soup and kept dipping bread sticks into the hot liquid before eating them. "Will Akito be hidden from your father as well?" he asked Rufus, Akito's presence had reminded him about his friend's safety. He wouldn't want anyone to be the subject of the King's anger.

Kuro nodded and left the dining room to go check on the preparations.

Meme nodded, glad that Rufus would try to keep him out of the way but he still worried about how this whole thing was going to play out and how smoothly it would happen. Meme finished his soup and bread, pushing away his empty bowl. "I'm done. Can we get this over with?" he asked Rufus softly.

Kuro returned shortly and took another bow. "Preparations are complete Sire." he said softly, awaiting his next orders.

He nodded, standing up and doing the gentlemanly thing by helping Meme out of his chair. "Kuro, Akito, good luck. The carriage outside will take you to the blockage and Akito will take my letter to my father, whilst Kuro takes the letter to my fiance. Let Kuro out away from the inn's sight - you'll have to sneak around, Kuro and wait until Akito can signal or whisper to the lady to get her alone. Then she'll meet you."
He turned to Meme. "I'll take you to the house I've arranged and settle you in." He paused, then sighed. "If you want, take some time to say goodbye to your friend."

Meme looked over at Akito but shook his head. "No....I'll see him when this is all done. Right Akito?" he asked with a small smile, it was just too depressing to say goodbye to Akito. Saying goodbye felt like he was never going to see Akito and he hated that feeling. He wanted to be sure Akito would return to them safely, and telling him they would see him later was his way of giving Akito an incentive to be safe.

Kuro nodded and quickly went to the hall closet to get Akito's jacket once more, he wasn't about to let the boy go outside on such a cold morning especially after being hospitalized not too long ago. "Akito, we must leave right away." he said, holding the coat out for Akito to slip into easily. Once the boy had his jacket, he escorted him toward the door, grabbing his own jacket in the process and putting it on while he made his way out the door with Akito. Kuro opened the carriage door and helped Akito inside before joining him.

Rufus took Meme's hand and took Meme to their bedroom. "You'll need to dress appropriately, so you fit in with the rest of them - I'd rather they didn't know who you are, other than the servants who go with you. Cook will be expected to stay here, but I think she's the only one he'll recognise."
He picked up clothes for Meme from the wardrobe, throwing them onto the bed. "They packed for you, and they'll have everything ready when we get there. We're going to walk so we don't attract attention."
