He saw her foot swing from the low angle, and quickly, he moved his arm before the expected point of impact to buffer damage and braced himself for the strike. It didn't help much as kinetics was on her side, and he steeled a wince even while feeling his arm was already beginning to bruise: that infuriating girl can sure kick hard! Or maybe he should've just not been so cheap with the stipend given from the village and used it on milk... Oh, forget that! Things were moving more swiftly now, and whatever he did, he better begin paying diligent attention.

From his position, it was inconvenient to move, so he allowed himself to drop low onto the sand, twisting out of her hold with the ensuing roll, before from the ground he kicked his foot upwards for her chin in the manner he had seen the Kirigakurian street dancers perform, both hands and the other foot balanced onto the ground. Granted, he was not as versatile or athletic as those dancers and balancing made his stomach lurch and heart hammer with nervousness, but it was the logical follow-up to do in order to not allow her too advantageously long a hold on him. Fortunately, as much of a novice as he was in this, he did have confidence, and that gave his arms strength to hold his weight: stalwart and unshakable under the influence of gravity.

So, she got his arm instead of what she had actually been aiming for... whatever. It had better have hurt a lot anyway. How could I miss his gut? She grit her teeth further as he pulled his leg from her grasp and kicked upwards. She could hear the snap of his clothing in upward motion and leanned back. The heel of his foot grazed her chest. It was a light nick, but it burned like hell. She grabbed the spot that burned, but instead of kicking him outright like she wanted to, she just kicked sand in his general direction as she hissed in displeasure. It was probably stupid, to not continue to kick his face into the ground... he'd probably be getting back to his feet soon. She'd let him come at her again then. She'd welcome it.

The momentum of his kick forced him to drop completely to the ground, and with a light somersault, he landed almost too easily, now crouching on his feet. He had purposefully chosen to land in a crouch in order to reduce strain to his knees: the one good thing about his extensive memory was that he remembered all the books he read, especially the detailed descriptions of fighting in novels. Granted, duplicating them was an innately difficult task, but it would seem as long as he allowed his body to move the most natural possible method, he wouldn't hurt himself and will also meet a certain degree of success. It was kind of like dancing, you cannot allow yourself to think too much.

As they were fighting, his mind also quickly made deductions as to exactly how bad her sight was. Apparently, it wasn't true that she was blind, as he had assumed earlier in the grove. Well, there it goes: proof that assumptions were very dangerous indeed to make. She was definitely able to see well enough to aim... Or did she? It could've been luck that she swung for a part of his body with such vengeful precision...and they did say those whom had poor sight made up for that in other senses... However, if she had actually been able to see that far, then with a twist of her foot, she could have probably easily caught him elsewhere. He had no way of knowing how the sixth sense so often described in novels worked, but it would seem that rumor was also false: she had exhibited no such remarkable talents beyond what is the norm expected of a person.

Perhaps she was only best at fighting with her feet? He did know some basics of self-defense: he had managed a brown belt before he decided to quit martial arts lessons. Should he try to restrain just that part of her body? His brow twitched at the thought: that insane girl might call him a pervert again! As his mind wrestled with the thought, he set off to a run anyways to feint what she might initially believe to be another low-kick. As he expected, she responded to the bait: but what he didn't expected was her choice to use the sand. Ah, dammit. She was learning. Slowly, but surely, to use the surroundings to her advantage. As he was forced to shut his eyes to prevent effective blinding by sharp little pieces of quartz, he ended up lunging for her ankles with his hands as he almost gracefully soared to the ground...

Well. This sucks.

And that... that was not welcome.

She felt his grip around her... what the hell was that supposed to do? Was that some nonverbal signal telling her to stop kicking? To hell with that. Making her stance go wider, she would force his arms apart if he was going to keep hanging on to her ankles like that, then she followed up with putting her balance on one side, lifting the opposite's leg and roughly shaking him off. Placing her free leg behind her, she rinsed and repeated with the other until it was just her standing there with him still in the dirt.

What was he playing at now? Was he seriously trying to... what? She didn't even know. Disable her or soemthing? All she knew was that with her returned freedom of the feet, she backed up just a little bit more. She didn't need him lunging at her laces again.

Breaking his grapple...

He did manage to grasp her ankles, but, he also ended up with his stomach meeting the ground. Hard. Oof, he thought. Now that was quite some unwelcome impact. But he was grateful at least that shutting his eyes when she kicked up a storm before was done in time. He would rather have his sight and take a hard landing then for the otherwise to occur. It wasn't to say he was going to admit that he relied heavily on his sight, but then again, he was a normal person, so what else would he have relied on? The stinging on the exposed skin of his arms and legs, however, told him that he probably had a few minor scrapes in more than a few comfortable places. Aw, dammit. Those were going to last for a few good weeks. He could feel some of the abrasive wounds went pretty deep.

The longer this little match went on, the more he regretted not listening to his mother's suggestion to take self-defense lessons early on in life. How embarrassing, to have this much trouble against a girl, no matter how uncouth that girl was or that she had certain handicaps. She was from a shinobi clan, right? It irked him to say, that they had such advantages. What was even the point of the dumb old geezers insisting on him to attend the Academy if this was the case...? But there was no time for regrets or further thoughts, considering the awkward angle he had landed, and the loose, barely holding grip... It was pretty much not a surprise at all when she easily freed herself with simple maneuvers.

She moved backwards, definitely wary of any further actions from him now, but he wasn't about to let this go at that. He followed up with a light somersault on the ground forwards to close the space between them, and ended with a low spinning kick: sweeping his leg for hers. He may have opened up with such a maneuver, but it didn't hurt to try again, his anger had burned off now and he decided in the end not trying to seriously hurt her was for the best. It wasn't like he was trying to prove something: he decided in the end, opinions of Kiri geezers be damned, he just didn't care. But as for this mess... Just as she had demanded of him, he would clean it up to the best of his ability.

After the damned woman calms down enough.

(just roll, no dex... and attacker takes the tie.)

It seemed like no matter how much she tried to retreat, he still just kept coming at her. I must have really pissed him off then, eh... serves him right, though. He started it... he had no business getting all pissy for no reason, and now he's throwing a bigger fit than my baby cousins. Not that she was really one to talk, due to her earlier displays, but she was convinced her actions wer eentirely... well, reactionary. Besides, she was keeping quite the level head now... though with every hit he made on her... and with every lack of a hit she made on him... she was slowly losing it once again.

He went at her again, from the ground this time, and she found herself on her arse once more. He was better at this than she thought. She didn't like that... sure, he had the advatange when they were throwing things. That was supposed to be normal. Her family had a long history of fighting, hand to hand, and winning. She was supposed to be like that.

From her place on the ground, all she could do was glare up at him.

"Finish it."

That was all she could say. She knew she had no chance... maybe she knew that a while back, but it finally struck her, so to speak. So what could she do? Maybe if she gave him that one last kick, then he'd finally go away...

It was a close call. Just by a bare hair's breath his leg almost missed hers, but thankfully, the force of the swing helped close the space. He was able to catch both of her feet, knocking her down. But he ended up losing balance and crash landed on her legs. Oof. He thought, wincing a bit at the force of the collision and the contact with her shins, which weren't exactly soft. Ironically, the little accident had him succeed at both: knocking her down and pinning her down. She could probably still bury a good fist into him if he wasn't careful though: that was the downside of sitting within range. Warily, he eyed her hands, eyes intently kept open for the barest sign of movement. Volatile as she was, he didn't trust for her to just stop...

Thereby it made her ensuing "surrender" even more suspicious. Was this a trap from her? Should he listen to her goading and "finish the job" anyways? So that was her hook, line, and sinker. But he had no intentions of listening to her: this was, by his definition, a job "as well finished" anyways. He was not about to follow her rules, and if this was some dumb shinobi pride from someone hailing from a clan, then so be it. He raised a brow at her anger, before nonchalantly replying.

"Finish it?" He replied coldly. "What is this? Some stupid shinobi pride? I think you are forgetting: firstly, I am not a shinobi. And secondly, if it is within my choice to finish this little match, then this is equally considered a closing act."

With that said, he got off of her, though he still remained tensely wary for any reaction from her.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4

(not gonna bother rolling against the diplomacy, I need a 20 to beat it)

She couldn't help but roll her cloudy eyes at him. Seriously? Did he not know that a spar was supposed to end in the utter defeat of the opponent? She was capable of movement, which meant she was not yet defeated. physically anyway. She was pretty beaten down mentally. Perhaps that was his goal... "Why ask when someone like you wouldn't even care to understand..." Stupid shinobi pride, huh? Is that all it was supposed to be? Was it truly a matter of pride to want to get beaten down when defeated. She supposed that depended on what the individual thought was more humiliating... actually being beaten down, or being considered not worth it and being allowed to walk away just fine. Still, it wasn't like she could say any of that, so all she did was glare in his general, blurry direction.

Then he let her go.

Why did he let her go? Did he think so little of her as an opponent... or was he just a simple coward. His previous actions could give evidence for both, in her mind. She didn't want to sit there and think about it, though... so, instead, she just got up and after taking a second to dust herself off, she hastily walked right past him and off along the shoreline. She couldn't be around him anymore... sure, she thought he was okay before in the forest... she'd even wanted to help him out. now? Oh, hell no... she'd be happy with life as long as she'd never have to get within earshot of him again.

Good thing he wasn't going to the academy.

She had gotten pretty far away, as she hoped walking a whole twenty minutes would have gotten her out of sight and mind. With every step, she continued to hear the annoying crunch of sand and shell benieth her feet. And everytime she took a step it just reminded her of how she lost not just one, but two fights... Wasn't walking supposed to calm people down?!? Apparently not, as it only gave her more time to silently rage on about life's injustice. He wasn't even a shinobi and he still beat me... He still beat me. I'm a... no... I'm not even a shinobi, but at least I want to be. How was she supposed to even try to compete if village weaklings were still stronger than her? Scooping up one of the shupid broken shells, she chucked it as far as she could, hearing a distant splant right before the roar of a wave decending upon the sand. Her hands trembled slightly, the feel of sand bringing her back to when she was just behind that log. if she had just taken the first hit and let it go... none of this would have happened. Why couldn't she just let it go... Sure, he was being stupid for starting it in the first place. He misinterpreted her intentions, and she was the one who paid for it. She doubted he even cared about the mistake he made.

Whatever, it was over now and she would probably never see him again. Hopefully.

Her anger and annoyance was starting to make her get that sick feeling in the stomach, though it could be an after affect of adrenaline rushing through her body still and no rough physical activity to make use of it. Damn she hated that feeling. she hated that she'd gotten worked up enough to feel it, too. With those same trembling hands, she picked up another shell and tosses it. This time it didn't get swallowed by the tide and made a bigger splash. She sighed. What was worse? She knew she was probably over reacting. Sure, she felt she was justified in her anger, but she knew she'd gone overboard with it, too. as if to prove it, she chucked another shell knto the brine. It didn't help that, in her family, she was notorious for being a very sore loser. Another shell disappeared benieth the waves. Hell, board game nights were murder. Every time she got sooooo close to whatever colorful finish like there was, or capturing the king piece on a board. bam, shut down, game over. and another gone, and another gone, and another gone. Her dad would always laugh at her as she grumbled about it. Something about her being so poor at losing was funny to him. She was running out of shells in her immediate area. ones that were big enough to toss anyway. Probably what made her angrier was when her grandpa would just hold his hand out to shake at the end of the game. it was a classic "good game" gesture, but she hated it. it was not a good game.

He watched her storm off, and with a sigh, slowly relaxed his guard. He didn't bother trying again to talk to her: his mother once said stubbornly angry people are worst than deaf mules. Granted, it was pretty mean to liken her to an animal, but he thought it was a pretty good comparison. Not of her to the animal, but rather the useless feeling of rage. What was the point anyways? It was a useless little sparring match. No biggie. For civilians, they earn maybe a higher ranking belt in martial arts classes if they defeated their opponent. Were all shinobi - or shinobi children, rather - like this? To take silly little contests of strength so...personally? He just found the whole concept ridiculous, complete with what he thought was her rather unreasonable fury.

He sat down on the sand in an almost meditative position, resting one hand beneath his chin, with the elbow securely buried on his thigh and merely mused to himself as green eyes surveyed the ocean. He wasn't quite sure just what to make out of this event. Sure, he did start the shell tossing. But children playing together often did too. Yes, granted, he and this girl weren't even friends. When he was small, and his parents took him to the beaches, he sees plenty of small kids hurling handfuls of water at each other, and ending up in an entangling fight. Usually, the kid who lost would end up bawling in tears. Was this - from Myaku Tebiki - what others would consider a tantrum? Slow astonishment gradually crossed over his understanding.

But what was there to be surprised about? He was older than her, and thin as he was, boys had more body mass. Physical strength wasn't something she should be so shocked about, let alone get outraged about.
