Hasuko paused in front of the Wishing Well booth and debated if she wanted to play. Secretly, her romantic heart loved the idea of making wishes to find happiness, or true love, or even academic success. Perhaps she would try? She smiled to herself and headed over to the well, rummaging for one of her seeds.
There was another student there. It looked like a gnome of some sort. The kappa paused and waited politely for the gnome to finish before she had her turn.
Only... the gnome wobbled and fell in!
"Oh no!" Hasuko gasped. She rushed over to the well and tried to peer down into it. It was dark though and she couldn't see the small gnome anywhere. "Somebody! Help!" she cried a panic, looking about for help but no one seemed to be paying attention.
She couldn't wait, the poor little gnome might drown before somebody else came. Her decision made, Hasuko jumped over the side of the well. The water was cold as she dived down, looking in the dark murk for the gnome.

Life was pretty sweet for a gnome. And by sweet, Robert of course meant shitty as all ******** was dog-paddling in the water, and briefly considered diving down to attempt and steal some of those shiny seeds, when someone splashed nearby and nearly drowned him with her effort to save him.
"HOLY MOTHER OF CHRIST WHAT-" The wave of water hit him square in the face, filling his mouth with the murky liquid. He started coughing, and only now did it seem like Robert was actually in any real danger of drowning.
Little flailing hands were so cute when they flailed out of the water like that.

Hasuko dove down and down, all the way to the bottom of the well but all she saw in the dark murk were floresctival seeds and no gnome. She took one last look around just to be sure before reluctantly swimming towards the surface. She had been so sure she had seen the gnome fall in---
"Oh!" she gasped, bumping into the gnome desperately treading water at the surface. "S-sorry!" she stammered.
The gnome seemed to be flailing and sinking. Hasuko quickly swam over and helped steady him, being careful to raise his head above the water. No everyone could breathe underwater like kappa, after all.
"Are you okay?" she asked in concern.

It was instinct to think - water in your lungs? you're drowning! - but as soon as Hasuko pulled him up and held him, he realized that he wasn't.. actually...
...
Riiight. Dead. Dead gnome.
He clung to the weirdly pretty looking duck girl by the neck, and whimpered.
"Please get me out of here." He coughed out.

A passing gnome heard the tiny cries of his fellow sufferer and pauses. After digging around in a pocket for a moment he produced a toilet brush and threw it down the well, narrowly missing the Kappa's heroic head. "DON'T FORGET TO CLEAN BETWEEN THE STONES!" Later that night the romantic tale of the Kappa and the Gnome would make the rounds in all of HalloweenTown's tinier pubs. It would eventually become a sweeping epic told through the ages, of a Little Kappa who just wanted to be part of their world.

"Don't worry, I'll get you out." Hasuko said.
She then yelped as a toilet brush nearly hit her in the water dish atop her head. "Hey!" she cried. She looked up the well, hoping that whoever threw the brush was still there. "Is someone there?? Can you help us, please?!"
Whoever it was just yelled something about cleaning the stones though. No help came. After a couple of long moments it was obvious the person had left. Hasuko sighed and readjusted her grip on the gnome she was holding.
"Right so... I guess we'll have to climb up." Hasuko looked up to the top of the well again. It didn't look too bad; the stones lining the wall were rough and jutted out enough to be good handholds. And with her water dish completely full, Hasuko was at her full strength, which was surprisingly strong despite her petite appearance. Kappa were like that.
"Please hold on tight." she said to the gnome. "I don't think I can hold you and climb at the same time." And then with that she carefully began climbing up out of the well.

Clean.. between..
Robert glared at the toothbrush as it slowly sank to the bottom, refusing to save it from it's dark descent. Like hell was he going to clean ANYTHING. Besides.. he had a duck girl to take care of.
Except, he was the one being saved here, wasn't he?
"Uuuugh. I'm sorry about all this, miss." He paddled around to her back, and then reached up to wrap his arms around her neck. This was probably the most embarrassing moment of his life - but still kind of cool.
After all, he was being saved. By a girl. Who kind of looked like a duck.
And the horrible secret would soon be revealed. Robert's one true weakness. His favorite animal of all time.
Robert ******** loved ducks.
"Okay, I gotcha. Be careful, okay?"

"It's okay, accidents happen." Hasuko said while she climbed. "Perhaps don't sit so close to the edge of the well next time though?"
Hasuko fell silent as she concentrated on a particularly slippery patch of stone that was slick with moss or mold, she wasn't sure which. Their ascent was steady though and Hasko wasn't even winded when she cleared the top of the well.
"There you go." Hasuko carefully lowered the gnome to the ground. She then rummaged in her small turtle shell backpack for her handkerchief.
"I'm Hasuko, by the way." she said as she searched. "Sorry for not introducing myself sooner." The kappa found her handkerchief and pulled it out in a small triumphant flourish, only to deflate a little when she realized that it was soaking wet. "Um." Awkwardly, she wrung most of the water out and offered it to the gnome anyway. "What's your name?" she asked politely.

He leaned on the well's edge again, flipping yet another seed into the well and making his wish for... the fourth time?
He'd lost count, but Marosa wondered yet again if he'd be getting anything from this little endeavor.

"Hasuko." Robert clutched at the handkerchief, wiping his face with it and then pulling off his little hat to wring it as well. All the while, he was staring up at her beak. She had a beak! An adorable little beak. This place was WILD! Wasn't this place supposed to be all scary freakish nightmare inducing monsters like the one that almost made him crap his pants over at the tables?
But this.
Robert wanted to poke her beak. Really badly.
"That's a pretty name. Hasuko." He held his arms upwards. "Say, uh, give me a hand here?" Apparently being carried around the festival wouldn't be so bad when it was done by a giant duck girl.
It was like he'd just walked into an episode of Ducktales! OH GOD HE LOVED DUCKTALES.
"I'm Robert! It's, uh. It's really nice to be saved by you, Hasuko."

Yroul slipped in, careful to not jostle or get anyone to notice him. Cool guys just had to be around and people noticed them, presence was all they needed. Yroul thought he had presence.
And so, he tossed a seed down the well, looking down it with a pout. What would happen now?
