Looking a but surprised as the other two disagreed with her evaluation of her powers, she paused a moment to think. She supposed it could be pretty fun, and was quite useful on occasion. "It can be." she conceded, not wanting to disagree. Picking up the chopsticks, she wielded them expertly as she stirred the contents of her bowl. It certainly looked good, so she hoped it would taste just as good. They didn't have ramen in any of the Little Chinatowns she had been to, though she supposed that that was due to ramen being Japanese. She looked up as Richard inquired about her family. "Yes. At least, I think so. My parents and brother are, but I've never met any extended family, but I assume so."

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" After noting his friend's struggle to eat with eastern untensils for a few seconds, he was about to suggest an alternative way of eating, but quickly bit back the words. The sort of determination on her face would only get him snapped at, he was sure. So, instead of suggesting that she abandon the chopsticks, he responded to Ciel. "That's interesting. I've only ever met two other shapeshifters, but each was the only one in his family to have the ability." He took another bite of his ramen, musing over the thought for a few moments before coming to a possible conclusion. "Perhaps the gene skipped a few generations." It was a possible answer, but he didn't worry more about it. This time would be better spent talking about other things than genetics, something Richard had little knowledge of. "Are you and your brother from outside of the veil?" he asked, wondering if the family had chosen to stay on the other side of the veil despite their powers.
As the two spoke, Lorina continued to struggle with her chopsticks. They were the most ridiculous untensils she could think of, and she wondered how an entire civilation could eat with sticks; sure, one could spear meat with chopsticks, but noodles and rice should have caused some sort of invention to spring up. Frowning, she kept her thoughts to herself, but after a few more attempts, eventually gave up. She waved eagerly to the waiter, and quietly managed to get a fork from the man as Richard continued the conversation. After a few bites of her food, which was well seasoned, she was able to catch up, and waited patiently for Ciel to answer.

Looking a bit surprised at this, the girl stirred her bowl as she thought. "That's... odd." she suggested, sounding unsure. She had been under the impression that her kind were a different species completely, but maybe there were humans with shapeshifting ancestors that had received the ability. She thought about that a few moments, absently taking a bit of her meal before another question was asked. She nodded, quickly swallowing the food that was in her mouth. "Yes. It's a bit of an unpleasant story as to how we got there, but my parents have been living outside the Veil since they were kids." she responded, looking a bit uneasy about it. "Are most students here from behind the Veil?" she questioned, eager to try and shift the subject away from her.

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" Sensing her unease about the forming topic of her family, Richard was quick to nod, sparing only a polite comment before shifting the conversation the way Ciel intended. "Ah, that's not so unusual. In fact, I would say its a fifty-fifty split." He glanced down to his noodles, trying to think of a few examples to show that it simply depended on the family and their story. "I met a girl when I first arrived here, who told me that her family only learned of the veil's existence because of her elder sister's powers." He turned his attention back to the girls and continued, offering a counter example. "However, Lorie's family resides inside the veil, away from non-magical humans."
Shifting her gaze to Richard as her name was mentioned, she nodded, swallowing her forkful of ramen before saying, "Exactly. It just depends on the day."

❀You'll Come BackGrateful for the conversation's change, Ciel ate from her bowl as she listened. She gave a short nod to show that she understood, considering this new knowledge a few moments before asking a new question. "Are the teachers the same?" she was hoping that her brother wouldn't be the only one who had lived in the human world, though she supposed he wouldn't be if there were so many students from the other side as well. She was a bit relieved that she wasn't the only one from the other side of the veil, feeling a bit less like an oddball.

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" Shaking his head, Richard answered after only a moment of thought, as this question was much simpler to answer. "Most I have met have spent several years within the veil, but their origins tend to come from outside." He shrugged, taking one of the last bites of his ramen as Lorina continued smoothly for him. "Still, they don't tend to get too involved with students, so their backgrounds are hardly spoken of in class. But Rich is right. The only teacher I'm close to is from outside."

❀You'll Come BackContinuing to eat from her bowl, she paid careful attention to what the two were saying. She was glad that she had come after all, even with just the information she was getting on it's own. However, the girl was also glad to actually be speaking with people close to her own age, something she hadn't been able to bring herself to do in quite a while. She didn't really know what else to say, unused to so much social interaction. Ciel was making steady progress on her meal, making a mental note that she liked ramen. "Speaking of teachers, are there any I should avoid?" the question was meant more for hard or unfair graders, though she wondered briefly if there may be other reasons to avoid teachers.

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" Lorina, who was still eating and would need time to make up for her struggles with chopsticks, was content to let the two continue speaking. However, when she heard Ciel's question, she immediately swallowed, and said very seriously, "Imhotep! He's a vampire and very...creepy. I've heard rumors, and I once you've heard the man speak, you won't have trouble believing them." She shivered, remembering the year she'd had him as a symbolism teacher. Turning her attention back to her noodles, she allowed Richard to speak more, knowing that he would be more reasonable and less dramatic; of course he would, he'd never had to sit with him as a teacher.
Sighing as his friend made her point, Richard didn't disagree, though in all the eight years he'd been at the school, Imhotep had never done anything strange enough to merit his attention. "Please, Lorie, I think she would rather hear about difficult teachers." "He is difficult." Sparing a glance toward the imp, he made sure she wouldn't interrupt again before he continued, trying to regain the easy atmosphere. "In addition to Imhotep, I would avoid Ms. Stark and Mr. Graham. They both grade harshly and hate any sort of excuse." Taking a sip from his glass of water, he waited a few moments before moving on to the positive; teachers who were less strict on grading. "On the other side of things, Mr. Fygg, Ms. Bonaventura and Ms. Adams, the nurse, are very kind."

❀You'll Come BackFrowning as one of her teachers was mentioned, the girl set her chopsticks down as she finished her ramen. "Oh, that's not good. I have Imhotep sixth period.." she sounded concerned, already considering switching classes. She had never met a vampire before, and she hadn't even been sure that they actually existed. Were all vampires scary or was it just this Imhotep fellow? She was relieved that she didn't have either of the others mentioned, though she was now less worried about harsh graders and more worried about this Imhotep guy. On the other hand, she didn't have the teachers that were said to be more pleasant. "What kind of rumours?" she asked, unable to get this man out of her head. If this man were as bad as Lorina claimed, the girl would definitely try to switch classes before they started.

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" Glancing up as their checks arrived, Richard set his glass down. "You're making her nervous." He shook his head, letting the imp speak anyways. Instead of arguing, he reached for both his own and Lorina's checks while pulling a wallet from his back pocket.
Hearing Ciel's words caused her eyes to widen momentarily, and she spoke up. "Ugh, he's a great way to ruin the day." She pointed out, knowing that most students ended their day with sixth period. Returning to her noodles to finish as Richard spoke, she frowned, then scoffed as she set aside her now empty bowl. Continuing on, she answered the question, despite her friend naive opinion. "Alot of girls say that he'll give good grades in exchange for sleeping with him." She made a face, then added on to the statement. "And being a vampire, he likes blood. Sometimes it seems like he's considering the idea of taking it."

❀You'll Come BackChoosing not to comment about just how easy was to make her nervous, she didn't look up as her check was placed in front of her. Doing her best to steady her hand, her eyes looked at the bill just long enough to see the price. Pulling her wallet from her pocket, she flitted through the bills before finding the appropriate amount and placing it atop the piece of paper. Her hands disappeared beneath the table, shaking violently at the mention of sex and blood. Oh dear, he did not sound like a good man at all. She would definitely need to change classes. The shapeshifter didn't have normal human blood, her natural form that of a shadowy, genderless blob, but that didn't stop her from worrying about it. "It seems... that I need to switch classes."

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" Satisfied that she'd kept Ciel from ever taking a class with the vampire, she faced Richard long enough to meet his eyes. It was clear that he was serious, and she followed his gaze to see the shapeshifter's hands, which were trembling ever so slightly before she placed them beneath the table. Knowing that if her emotion became much stronger, than he would be immersed into feeling it as well. She took a breath, and spoke as lightly as she could manage. "Ah, sorry. Yes, you can switch the class when we get back to campus." It wasn't difficult for her to remain upbeat, especially when the topic of Imhotep was sure to fade. "But for now, let's talk about something more pleasant. Like this amazing ramen! Did you like it, Ciel?"
Frowning, Richard could feel the beginnings of fear and worry wash over Ciel, something he did not want to feel at the moment. Still, he could hardly blame the girl; not when it was Lorina was going on about the conversation. "You're being dramatic." he said, trying to keep sharpness out of tone. He was able to catch the imp's attention with that, and she took a breath, obviously in understanding. He pulled the neccassary amount of bills out of his wallet before handing it off to their waiter, who also collect Ciel's payment. Hearing the change in topic, he smiled, remembering that the shapeshifter had said she'd never tried the food.

❀You'll Come BackNoticing the serious expression on Richard's, she wondered if she had done something wrong. She was prepared to ask when Lorina caught her attention. "It's okay. Thank you for warning me." she attempted a smile, though it wound up weaker than she intended. The conversation was redirected, and while she wondered if it had anything to do with the sudden seriousness on Richard's face, she did nothing to stop the new direction. "Yes, it was very good." she admitted, the shaking in her hands having settled with time. Normally it took a bit more than a few rumors to freak her out, but it had been a long and tiring day of travelling and everything that went along with it, and she was a bit tired both mentally and physically. "I was a bit surprised, actually." she admitted, especially since she had simply selected something at random.

"Hullo, my name is Lorina Jinn" With things resuming smoothly, Lorina smiled when Ciel confirmed that she did, indeed, like ramen. She'd assumed such, since the shapeshifter had finished her bowl, but it was nice to be sure. "That's good. I'll bring you again sometime so you can try the miso. It's the best kind." Glancing up as their receits were dropped off, she thanked the waiter before standing up from her seat. She straightened her shirt as she spoke, looking to Richard to study his expression. "If there isn't something else you'd like to see, I can walk you back to the dorms."
Now calmer himself, he made sure to smile when Lorina caught his gaze. She flashed him one as well, then turned back to Ciel to make her offer. He stood up as well, after leaving a tip on the table with his glass on top to keep a breeze from claiming it. If the girls were returning to campus, he would join them, since his next task was homework that needed to finished.

❀You'll Come BackSmiling as Lorina commented about bringing her again, as she would certainly enjoy that. She commented as such, now feeling much better about meeting the two of them that day; she felt as if she might be close to making friends. Picking up her receipt, she stood as the other two did, tucking the small piece of paper into her back pocket. Ciel shook her head, as there was nothing else that really needed to be done, but she would probably pop into her dorm long enough to check in with her brother. Checking her pocket to ensure that her wallet was still there, she was ready to set out as soon as the others were. It was probably for the better that Lorina offered to take her back to the dorms, as it would definitely cut down on her time being lost that day.
