A soft guitar riff came from Roch's pocket and he stopped, pulling his eyephone out of his pocket. For a long moment he was silent, typing furiously on the screen before he muttered, "Jackin--I can't--dammit all!"
Obviously whatever he'd seen on the screen and replied to bothered him, because he turned and headed out of the library again, forgetting entirely about finding his composition books.

Art wanted so badly to say 'yes, Ceri, you do look like a child. Maybe you should try some heels or makeup', but he chose to not, since she just moved right along. If she had stuck wit hit though, he would have told her that. She honestly did look like a child, with those doll clothes on. Speaking of which, why did she wear those? Personal fashion sense.
HOLY JACK WHAT WAS THAT. Art jumped about five feet in the air, spinning around and swatting away whatever the hell had grabbed his shoulder. Looking down, he saw the perpetrator; Ceri's jackdamned severed hand!
"Ceri, that's freaky as all get out. Could you stop?" His voice was frustrated, and his body had become more stiff. This girl, what the heck was she, some kind of creeper? He had been around freaks all of his life, as any Ink Demon child is, but this girls was just...different. He began walking in a direction, looking back to make sure Ceri was following him, hand in tow.
"Ceri... what are you?

It wasn't like Sincerity had chosen her outfit. In fact, she never would have worn something like that-- not that she could remember. At least most of the time she was able to forget. She didn't notice Art's expression, perhaps it would have communicated something to her.
Ceri laughed quietly, covering her mouth with her hand, and watched as Art jumped. Her fun was cut short, though. Looked like Art wasn't someone who enjoyed being startled. Ceri silently petted her treat, instead, the severed hand returning to her and assisting in the petting of the treat.
"Boring. Of course I can stop." Sincerity was more or less unaffected by his frustration, and shrugged it off. She felt something nagging at the back of her mind, some personality trait that she couldn't quite expose. Perhaps it would temper her bad traits, allow her to be more sociable. She was pretty unused to that, though. What else was she for, if not for creeping others out? It's not like she got along with anyone. Being disturbing suited her just fine.
She did follow Art, silently, tucking her treat into one of her bows for safekeeping.
"What am I? I guess a ghost who's stuck here, for some reason or another. Can't remember." Ceri shrugged and licked her lips, tongue brushing the threads. "And you are some kind of demon, but what kind?"
Her hand scuttled off again, but not to bother Art. He had asked her nicely, and she had other things she could play with. Her hand was currently teasing some of the more ferocious books, scuttling from shelf to shelf. It nearly got eaten, a few times. Distracted, she added, "If I start to overwhelm you, we can always go find a booth or more visitors and students," she offered idly, clearly focused on what may or may not eat her hand.

Needle was quick to recognize the effort her partner was putting into this particular meeting, and she made a mental note to put more effort into their daily rituals as a result. The rituals were Lattice's comfort zone, hopefully the effort would be noted. Failing that, Needle would take her on a good haunt of a walk! It was a brilliant plan, absolutely brilliant!
"It seems we have an experienced guide!" Her fingers curled near her lips as she watched Petro get on one knee, absolutely delighted at the - to her - exotic display.
"We accept and appreciate the tour, Petro." The blue-clad Engraver turned to regard her sister once more, almost always looking back at her as though looking for guidance; in a way she was! For the big question of 'Am I overstepping bounds', of course. Lattice was more grounded and Needle did not want to do anything to overly embarrass herself or her sister-partner. She forgot to make mention of their little...disability.
"Do you have more tattoos?" Needle couldn't resist asking; it was amazing luck that the first person they met had such an interesting set of tattoos! A quick glance at his person proved that he did not have any visible ones on his front, but who knew what he was hiding on his back! "Are there many tattooed students here?"

The ghoul was simply glad that her sister was close by at times like these. Certainly Lattice would feel at a loss otherwise.
Lattice was a bit thrown by this odd way of bowing at least it she thought it was bowing, it seemed rather similar. Still she smiled a little for what it was worth, her head tipped forward a bit acknowledging her sister's glance, "We are most humbled by your offer and will gladly take it," she echoed her own agreement to mirror her sister's. Thus far her sister hadn't overstepped any bounds, Lattice was very proud of her.
After all it would be much easier to get around now that they had a guide, "We have some...difficulties seeing," she mentioned for them, "So your assistance is a welcome one."
Her smile widened a bit as her sister asked about other tattoos. It was a fond smile at least as fond as a smile could be on her.

Petro's grin broadened when the two ghouls accepted his offer, "That's great! And y' can call me Tro if it'd be easier on y' both," he suggested. "Lemme check these books out first then I can show y' around." The horse boil hadn't intended to check anything out of the library but he didn't want to make the ghouls wait while he returned them to their proper shelves. He figured this would be the fastest compromise short of getting someone else to return the books for him.
At Needle's questions, Tro had to pause, "Don't think there're any others. I think Yaya's got some tattoos. They're more intricate than mine though, and most've hers'r bigger too," he sounded like a shrug ought to accompany this but he wasn't familiar enough with the ghoul to know they were henna rather than actual tattoos. "The ones on my face's all I got. But 'm gonna be getting more." The confidence was unmistakable in his tone. It wasn't bragging or hoping. It was a certainty.
Learning of their condition, Tro was certainly surprised. And curious. "Do your masks help with y' seeing?"

"Yaya." She parroted, her voice softly committing the name to memory. This...Yaya...would have to be found later, and her tattoos examined. Needle was resisting the urge to pout. Really, those face tattoo were the only ones he had? How disappointing! If they were going to follow him for the day, it would be all the more fun to have some pretty back markings to stare at. Oh well, she would deal!
Lattice was left to field all of the technical questions, from allowing him to check out books to the question regarding their masks. The red Engraver was much better at time management and technicalities anyway!
"Where do you get them done? Do you do them yourself, or...?" The very minute raise of excitement in her soft voice was quickly put in check with a brief clear of her throat. "I apologize for my enthusiasm." Needle murmured. "They are...somewhat of a passion of mine." Yes. Only somewhat.

"Take all the time you need...Um...T..Tro," she struggled a bit with the informality of not using his full name that he introduced himself as. The novelty of being so close and informal with him as so strange to her but it also felt ... nice in a way like she and her Sister already made a friend. The ghoul got ready to follow the boil whenever it was that he would show the way.
She smiled a bit at her Sister's continued passion for tattoos; unlike Needle the red robed ghoul had only a light interest in them. Lattice didn't do anything to discourage her Sister's interest or questions, for none of them seemed too far from any of the norm.
Lattice shook her head a little, "I do not think they do, I haven't really noticed," she observed quietly as far as she knew she couldn't take them off. "I do not think we can remove them," Lattice said her previous thought out loud almost as if sensing that it would be a possible question. The ghoul didn't remember how they even got the masks.

Tro took the questions Needle had for him in stride, actually he was more than a little flattered that someone in the school had been so interested in them. With a grin and a light chuckle, "Now, y' don't gotta worry about asking me too many questions, Needle. But depending on what kind y' ask, can't right guarantee I can answer'm all." He was quick to hand both his library card and the books over to the librarian to check them out. While they waited, "'M neither skilled enough nor allowed to give anyone tattoos," he explained. "That's reserved for my Clan's artisan."
With a slight cant of his head towards Lattice, "What about y', Lattice? What's y'r passion?"

"Thank you...Tro..." As with everything she did, her movements were soft and slight, up to and including the smile she gave in response to his allowing questions. It may have seen like a demure move, however in her own head Needle was downright grinning. Calling him by a nickname! How...foreign! It felt awkward, but if it was what he wanted she was more than happy to oblige. Yay new experiences and whatnot. She liked this boil; he had tattoos, he was nice, he didn't do anything to set Lattice off, and he had a wonderful, somewhat unmarked canvas to work with! All wonderful qualities in a male, even if she didn't recall ever having experience with them, even one-on-one.
"Mmm yes...it does take a certain required skill to embellish skin with ink." Needle agreed thoughtfully. "but...just your clan artisan?" She inquired with a slight pout. It would be a shame to potentially lose out on such a canvas! Nevermind that they'd only just met, or that there was no guarantee that she and Lattice would even be accepted into the Academy... details, details.
When he busied himself with her partner, the Blue Engraver decided to look around the Library some more, as best as she could from where she stood. She did, at least, lean her weight ever so slightly to one side, to be closer to Lattice just that little bit.

Lattice listened to Tro as he talked to her sister not moving to interrupt and staying silent for the most part. She had answered questions about them because she probably had the better words for them but otherwise she let Needle do all the talking since Needle was the main reason she was even there. She couldn't picture not being near her sister nor letting her leave on her own not knowing if she'd returned - being so uprooted had given Lattice a bit of an anxiety when it concerned being separated from her 'Twin'. Noting her sister close by still seemed to keep Lattice calm and collected.
She'd get over it in time...Hopefully.
The ghost ghoul tilted her head to Tro when she talked to him and she seemed thoughtful, "My passion is...to protect and to serve...."
Serve who?
"Serve those that need my assistance," she said finally pretending that there was no gap in her memory at all, nope!
Lattice nodded her head to her sister, "I enjoy tattooing as well but my Sister has a greater passion and talent for it. I prefer to fight and protect," it was amazing that the wisp of a ghoul would even lift a hand to hurt anything but then she did have some handy weapons embedded into her arms.

As the monster horse retrieved his library card and the two books, he gave Needle a quick nod in assent. "Yeah. Our tattoos got meaning behind 'em. Ain't just for show and we gotta get our Elders' permission and blessing for 'em, too." There was more to getting inked than just having a design in mind and the desire as far as Petro's clan was concerned. And the monster horse wasn't about to simply offer this information without being prompted for it. It isn't as if he was privy to the secrets behind the actual deciphering and decision-making of the tattoos themselves but still, it didn't feel like something he should be sharing so freely. "Did y' tattoo y'rselves or each other?" he asked, slightly tilting his head forward as he studied the tattoos on the ghouls' arms.
If he noticed the close proximity between the sisters, Tro said nothing. Instead his face lit up in delight upon hearing what Lattice considered to be her passion. "Yeah? 'S a real admirable passion," the grin was audible in his words as he spoke. Tro never made it a point to judge a person's ability to fight based on their appearance. It was how they carried themselves in actual fights that determined who would need defending and who wouldn't. "Y' both fight?" Was, was that an invitation to a friendly match? What about the tour, Petro!?

Fittingly, Owl finished visiting the open house where she started it. She was tired and her arms dragged along the library floor as she walked. Owl absolutely loved the school. Everyone was so nice! She wandered over to the kids book section and picked the one that looked the easiest. She sat down and started to read. It took awhile, but she worked out what the first page of the book said. "This skitter is blue! this skitter is red! If you eat a skitter, the skitter will be dead!" she said aloud, proud of her amazing ability to read so well. SHE LOVED THIS BOOK! Maybe she could just... take it. Why not? She put it in her pocket (it was very small) and started on the next book.
