Avery Calder
Avery groaned when he woke up, his hand automatically moving to touch the back of his neck. What the hell had that been all about..? He wasn't even sure exactly what had happened, except that it had hurt... and he thinks he may have blacked out as well. How long was I out for?

The power appeared to be working again, however, so he decided to head outside to see if he could find out what exactly happened. He didn't feel like going through all the duplexes, knocking on each one until he found someone, so he headed out of his duplex, winding up outside the entertainment room and peeking inside to see if anyone was in there.

Dr. Madison Moreau
Madison strolled into the village after leaving her bungalow. Maybe someone would know the answer to what happened with the power surge.

Her heart skipped a beat as she noticed a golden haired guy that was dressed very peculiar standing outside the entertainment room. It took everything in her to not rudely stare at him.

Avery Calder
Avery sighed when he didn't see anyone, and he started to turn around to head in the direction of the cafeteria - but he jumped when he saw the fox girl standing there. "Geez! You scared me... I didn't hear you walk up..." He sighed again, looking at her. "Hey, I don't think we've met before... my name's Avery - what's yours?" he asked, walking closer to her and holding out his hand to the girl. She seems to be farther along in her transformation, she must have been here for a while, he thought to himself.

Dr. Madison Moreau
She stood there gawking at his brightly colored clothing. A candy necklace hung around his neck and ...he had small dog-like ears! She finally remembered her manners and offered a paw'd hand.

"Hi there! It's nice to meet you Avery. I'm Madison...." she replied, trailing off. It still bothered her to reveal her last name as she didn't want to give a bad first impression. Avery seemed like a really friendly person.

"Do you know anything about the power outtage? I'm really freaked out here"

Avery Calder
Avery smiled - his tail wagging a bit - and shook her paw gently before letting go. "Nice to meet you too, Madison. And no... I don't know anything about it, either. I was actually looking for someone to try and see if they knew anything... I guess us experiments get left in the dark about these kinda things, huh?" he said, and then added with a chuckle, "no pun intended, of course. But it seems to be all back on now... maybe it was just the storm we had, knocked out the power for a while?"

Dr. Madison Moreau
Madison shifted her body weight on her left leg and put a hand on her hip. Avery's positive attitude really made her feel comfortable and at ease. It was so adorable how his tail wagged and it made her smile.

"Oh yeah.. That storm was so horrible. I almost became deaf again! I think you are right ..that HAD to of been the cause," She knew that her words didn't speak the whole truth. There was a lingering feeling that the thunderstorm wasn't 100% of the cause..but she brushed it aside.

"So maybe we should go inside the entertainment room and have a look around. It's a fairly new place right with so much electrical equipment. Do you think it was the cause of the outtage?" she asked, brushing back a stray hair with her paw.

Avery Calder
Avery gave her a slightly confused look. Deaf... again? What did she mean by that? As far as Avery knew, there wasn't a 'cure' for deafness... but he felt it would have been rude to inquire about that. "Yeah, it was pretty bad. I would have just hid out in my duplex the whole time if I could have, but a guy's gotta eat, yanno?" he said, smiling at her again.

"Nah, this place is huge... I don't think that the power would go out with just a few new additions," he shrugged, but he headed inside the entertainment room anyway, looking around. "It must have just been the storm..." But he briefly thought about the lock down that was going on when he arrived on the island, and how he was told the power had gone out. But this time there had been some back up power, and nobody got locked out of their duplexes...

Dr. Madison Moreau
Madison could see that Avery was rather confused by her comment. "Ya.. I was deaf before coming to the island. Since the experiment, I been able to hear and I keep getting better all the time. It's really amazing!"

The entertainment room looked really exciting. It was just bursting with fun from the real world. She nodded to Avery's claim. It couldn't be this wonderful room that caused such a powerful blackout.

"Oh my god.. there are so many movies here. Ya know... I was told once that I was pretty enough to be a movie star. It was my old boyfriend so I don't know if he was just buttering me up for some action or was serious" she giggled.

Avery Calder
Avery was surprised to hear that. So the experiments can actually help people to that extent? If the scientists here could do things like that, why couldn't they just try to help mankind instead of turning into animals?

"Yeah, there are lots of movies here... I'm surprised they have such a large selection, actually. I can't remember how long I've been here, but I've barely watched any of these movies." Avery glanced at her when she made the comment about her ex-boyfriend, unconciously checking her out. She was rather attractive... for a fox-girl. But Avery barely registered the fur anymore when he looked at people, after spending so much time with the other islanders. Having fur - or scales - didn't mean anything here. "Well, I think he was telling the truth," Avery grinned. "You're very pretty."

Dr. Madison Moreau
"I haven't seen any movies here either...." Madison said while running a furred finger across a stack of DVDs. She just didn't really like to sit still for very long in front of what she called a 'boob tube'. It was hard to understand why so many people liked watching movies.

Avery's comment made her blush a little. She had thought of herself as a furry freak...not someone attractive anymore. It just made her feel warm all over to hear that someone thought she was pretty.

"Thanks, how very kind of you to say" she smiled. "I like how you look too. Why do you dress in so many colors? There isn't anything wrong with it I guess but do you like the attention it gives you?"

Avery Calder
Normally Avery didn't like to sit still for too long, either, but if the movie was good enough to distract him he usually managed to behave himself until it was over. He glanced over at the movies - how many times has he come in here with the intent to watch something, but always getting distracted by something else? He hadn't even been able to sit through a movie with Rex and Tim, instead falling asleep on the couch when Rex had left.

"Thank you!" Avery beamed when she complimented him, his tail wagging happily again. "I dunno, I just like bright colors - they're fun! And I guess I do like the attention," he chuckled. "A lot of ravers dress like this, though."

Dr. Madison Moreau
"Oh.. I know about ravers. I just never met any before. You must like wearing glow in the dark things eh?" she asked him. Heck... a glow stick would of came in handy for her last night when the power went out. She wondered if Avery had any she could borrow in case the unfortunate event repeated in the future.

"I think we better get out of here and find the others. Maybe someone will know more about what happened. What do you think?"

Avery Calder
"Sometimes I do, yep! Don't really have a need for them here, though," Avery sighed. "No raves..." He shook his head then, not wanting to think about that. "Anyway! Yeah, that's a good idea! I'll see you later then, right? I'm in duplex 32 if you ever want to drop by to hang out or something," he said. "Maybe we could watch a movie sometime!" Avery waved to her (his tail wagging as well), before he headed out of the entertainment room to search for someone else.

Dr. Madison Moreau
Madsion waved to Avery. "Ok see ya around" she said and then decided to look around for more info about the blackout.

Avery already felt confused and worried from the power going out and receiving the nasty shock in his neck, so when he heard the announcement, that did not help. In fact, it seemed to just make things worse.

Doctor Moreau
"Hello my precious subjects,

If you didn't already know, my second-in-command, Dr. Aubrey Lockheart was severly injured recently. She may not survive.

No one but Aubrey has entered the labs since the travesty, and no one else is allowed to, so the guilty party must be on the outside.

Bring me the guilty party, or else you'll all suffer for this. I hope no more than that needs to be said.

If you are the responsible party, know that all eyes will turn to you. You can't escape the eyes of those you might have considered friend, or even lover.

I want the person responsible to be brought to me."

Oh, wonderful. So some nutjob decided to attack a Dr. Lockheart, and now everyone was going to be in trouble if they didn't figure it out?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.R o l e - P l a y _____________/ A Scandal in Paradise: In which Avery and Lily discuss possibilities.

Lily Delaney
After her meeting with Chana, and the announcement, Lily is just heading for her own duplex. Covered in mud, she hopes to be able to get cleaned up- but while she walks her mind is on other things. Particularly the announcement. Dr. Lockheart was hurt, and they'd all suffer unless whoever did it was found.

"What's going on?" she wonders aloud, thinking back to the storm and the power going out- twice. She rubs at the sore spot on her head from where she hit the bench again just when she's a couple steps from her duplex.

Avery Calder
Avery was feeling rather confused himself. Just who was Aubrey? He only knew of her from whenever Colche spoke about her, but that was it. He knew that she was one of the doctors, but he hadn't had any idea that she was that high up in rank. Doctor Moreau's second-in-command, huh? And now, someone went and hurt her - and they were all going to be punished for it if they didn't find out who. They must have done it when the power went out - weren't there normally cameras on everywhere?

The only person Avery could think would do such a thing is Zach.

Avery was walking along the duplexes when he saw the red haired girl, and he picked up his pace to catch up with her, hoping maybe she knew what was happening. "Hey there!" he said, greeting her when he was close enough. "Hey - do you have any idea what's going on here? Oh - I'm Avery, by the way."

Lily Delaney
When Lily hears the sound of someone approaching, she turns her head to listen- and to look to see who it is. Definetely not someone she's met before, though she may have seen him in passing. She stops infront of her duplex when she realizes that he's heading her way, and waves an orange hand at him a bit.

"Hello," she returns the greeting, shaking her head at the question before introducing herself, "I'm Lily."

She reconsiders the question, "I don't know what's going on exactly, just what the announcement said.. you must have heard it, didn't you?"

Avery Calder
"Yeah, I heard it, not that it clears up anything though," Avery said, shrugging his shoulders. "Why would someone be stupid enough to do something like that? Now we're all in trouble, unless we find out who did it?" He chewed his bottom lip thoughtfully, with his ears pressed back against his head with worry. He was afraid to think about what kind of punishments they would get - he felt turning into an animal was punishment enough. "It's... kinda scary."

Lily Delaney
Lily frowns, "That's how it sounds, but how're we supposed to know who did it?" She doesn't want to imagine any potential punishments either, and agrees with Avery wholeheartedly that the entire idea is quite frightening.

"I-" she hesitates, "Did you happen to wake up anywhere odd?"

Surely she wasn't the only one waking up outside, she hadn't even thought to ask Chana. Maybe something happened when the power went out, and that's one of the last things she remembers happening.

Avery Calder
"I have no idea," Avery sighed. "I thought they had like... cameras all around the place and s**t, and high security. You'd think they wouldn't let something like this happen, yanno? But I guess when the power went out, it screwed up things or something..."

Wake up anywhere odd? He looked a little confused by that question. "No, I just woke up in my duplex... but," he remembered, adding, "before that, I passed out after I felt this... horrible pain in my neck, and it just kinda spread through my whole body. It was really weird... never felt anything like it before... that didn't happen to you too, did it? Did you wake up someplace strange?"

Lily Delaney
"There are cameras everywhere," she agrees, "It's shocking it could happen for that reason, and because they can knock us out, right? The power must have done something.." She trails off, glancing to the side whiel he considers her question. Then she looks back at him.

"Horrible pain in your neck?" she repeats, sounding surprised, "Nothing like that happened to me- I woke up under a bench out here, actually. Last I remember was .. seeing Dr. Lockheart leaving in a jeep."

Avery Calder
Avery tilted his head slightly. "They can knock us out? What do you mean by that - like... hit people over the head with something? Anyone can do that." He wondered why the people here haven't thought about doing something to protect the faculty from losing power due to storms. Surely they knew building a place out on an island would be risky, didn't they? Even the back up power had failed.

"You woke up under a bench?" Avery raised an eyebrow at her. "Have a rough night of drinking or something..?" How could someone not know they fell asleep under a bench?

Lily Delaney
"Um- no-" she shakes her head, deciding to just drop the topic. She blinks and crosses her arms when Avery raises an eyebrow at her for the mention of waking up under a bench. She shakes her head immediately following his question, and clucks her tongue- though the sound is a bit different than if a normal person clucked their tongue.

"Yes I did," she answers, "But I wasn't drinking. I don't remember crawling under the bench at all. I remember being in the village area though- whatever happened after that, I didn't go very far.."

Avery Calder
"Strange, something weird is going on here if people are waking up in places they didn't fall asleep in..." Avery felt confused and a little lost. He certainly didn't want to get punished for something he didn't do - but he was no detective; maybe the other islanders would be able to figure this out? Besides, if he told on who he thought did it... what if the person escaped and wanted revnge? What if Avery was wrong?

"This is ridiculous," he muttered. "Did anyone else you talk to wake up someplace different?"

Lily Delaney
"That's how it started when we were locked out," Lily grumbles, "And the power going on didn't make it seem any less like that. If I hadn't seen someone leave a duplex, I'd have thought we were locked out again.."

"Something weird is going on if Dr. Lockheart can get attacked without the person who did it getting caught," she adds to his comment finally. Then she shakes her head and shrugs to his question.

"I've only ran into Chana," she explains, "And I don't think she woke up outside. She wasn't muddy or anything." She glances down at her own clothing.

Avery Calder
"Locked out... oh, right, I arrived here during that whole mess," Avery said. "Well... at least we're not locked out this time, right?" he shrugged... then he sighed again. "This is too much pressure... why can't they just figure it out for themselves? Make everyone take... lie detector tests or something... I don't know."

Lily Delaney
"You did?" she asks, "Like- um- the other guy?" She can't remember his name, but she remembers someone saying they'd arrived a couple days before everything was unlocked again.

"Unless we got locked out after the power went out, and Chana didn't know about it, I don't think we are," she replies, but for good measure she turns and steps up to her door- and manages to open it with no trouble.

"No, we're not locked out," she says, turning back around to face Avery, "I would guess they didn't have the cameras or something, and expect if anyone saw anything, it'd be us."

She pauses, then shakes her head.

"Or they just want us to do the dirty work," she mumbles, "But if it's this important I can't see that being a reason to make us do it."

Avery Calder
"Yeah, like Rex - actually we showed up together, we were on the same cruise liner and both fell overboard..." he shrugged a little, thinking about going to visit Rex later. Avery was relieved when she opened the door. He certainly didn't want to be forced to live out in the wild again... that was hell. "But then again, if nobody saw anything... we're all in trouble." He wondered if maybe it was all just fake... maybe this Aubrey girl wasn't hurt at all, and Doctor Moreau just wanted to rile everyone up and make everyone suspicious of each other.

Lily Delaney
"Rex," she repeats after him, "That was his name." Lily nods, and leans against the doorway to her duplex. She bites her lip when Avery makes a valid observation, agreeing with him with a slow nod.

"If no one saw anything, we'll have to try to look for other clues, I guess," she puts a hand over her eyes for a moment. This doesn't sound like any fun, but they'd all be in for it if no guilty person was found.

"Or we can hope whoever did it confesses," she says, though her tone is very doubtful- who'd ever admit to it? She lowers her hand from her face. If you're going to be punished for it either way, you might not mind having everyone else suffer with you.

Avery Calder
"The only person I can think of who would hurt someone is Zach, but I've hardly met everyone here, I'm sure," Avery said, recalling Zach's behaviour tward him. "He's attacked me twice... I don't know what he's turning into, but I don't think he can control himself..." Avery highly doubted anyone would confess as well. The only way to solve this was going to be of the innocent people figured it out and reported it, it seems.

Great.

Lily Delaney
Zach, the name Chana mentioned. Lily raises her eyebrows when Avery explains how Zach has attacked him before, and she nods.

"A couple people came to mind," she agrees, "Zach was one, a Jamal and a Mr. Reedy as well-" she hesitates, thinking back to the river, " And, I know some who've threatened me, but they didn't attack me, so they may have more control. But I think one of them was Mr. Reedy."

How many violent people had been brought to this island? Of course, it could be the animal in the subjects bringing out the violence. Maybe turning some people into potentially dangerous creatures wasn't a smart idea.

Avery Calder
Well, that name sounded familiar. Avery thought he recalled someone metnioning Jamal before, and how he got locked up in a cage after attacking someone. If he were locked up in a cage, maybe he had attacked one of the staff... and as far as Avery knew, Zach hasn't been locked up. So this Jamal guy was another suspect.

"Yeah, I think I've heard of that Jamal guy before... but I've never met him." Avery wasn't sure he wanted to, he preferred to stay away from the violent type. "I think I'm going to head back to my duplex a bit, before searching around for other people to see what they know... and I'm sure you wanted to get washed up, too. It was nice meeting you, Lily. Hopefully this thing blows over soon, eh? See you later," he gave her a small smile, before waving and heading off to his own duplex.

Lily Delaney
She nods, "I may have met him, I didn't catch some names one day. It wouldn't surprise me if he was one of them, by the sounds of it." She looks back at her door, which has remained open while they chatted.

"Alright," she smiles at Avery, though her expression is still a bit anxious. She glances down at the mud, and then attempts to scratch some of the mud from a hand- but finds it doesn't really work so well. With a nod, she looks back up and waves to him, "It was nice meeting you, too, Avery. Bye."

She waits only a moment, then turns around and heads into her duplex- shutting the door behind her.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.R o l e - P l a y _____________/ A Scandal in Paradise: In which Billy and Avery meet again.

Avery Calder
Avery nearly forgot about eating any food until his stomach started to hurt - he had been far to busy stressing out and worrying about this whole thing with Aubrey being attacked and them getting blamed for it. With a sigh he headed out to the cafeteria which seemed to be empty, helping himself to some food and sitting down at a table.

After a few bites, however, he just started to poke at his food with his fork as he got lost in thought again. Maybe he shouldn't even bother - someone else could figure it out, right? He didn't even know where to start at any rate, and like hell he was going to risk getting attacked again by talking to people he thought might have done it.

William Woodrow
Billy had awoken that morning sore all over. Across his blue octopus skin, his shoulder and neck were brused darkly, other bruses riddled about his body, but conceiled by his strangely marked skin. He had spent the whole morning alone in his duplex, the panic outside over the catastrophy never reaching him. He didn't want to think about it.

After a while, hunger took over, and he realized he needed to at least make his way to the cafeteria. If he was lucky, no one would see him. He took his new crutches, and managed to hobble his way through the doors, keeping his head down and tentacles outstretched for a tray, not daring to look if anyone was there.

Avery Calder
At first Avery hadn't realized someone had walked into the cafeteria - but then he heard the clacking of crutches on the floor, he looked up.

And he dropped his fork with a loud clatter onto his plate, gasping out loud in surprise.

He stood up abruptly, wondering and being careful not to say out loud - what the ******** is that!? He tried not to stare, his eyes wide, but he couldn't look away. He was used to seeing furry people, and hell, even Awen wasn't that bad. But this... so many tentacles, it didn't look like it even had hands anymore, and covered with blue skin.

William Woodrow
At the sound of movement, Billy stopped at the sushibar. As what tentantacles that weren't still aching from his fight the night befor loaded his tray with raw fish, he stole a glance over his shoulder. Without the buzz of his narcotics, his stamina for fighting had slackened. "Wha't'feck r'gawkin' at?" He grunted, not recognizing the dog-man, despite their long ago meeting when they both were still human, and Billy had still been lost to his powder.

Avery Calder
"Uh - I --" Avery stammered, feeling almost surprised when the creature spoke to him. But it - he - used to be human, too, so why was he so surprised? That accent sounded... familiar, but Avery couldn't quite recognize the person anymore, either. He had changed so much since their last meeting.

"Um. Sorry, I just - you startled me," he said. This man is just like me, Avery thought, trying to calm himself down and stop being so freaked out by the man's appearance. He used to be human too, so I shouldn't stare. He slowly sat back down, trying to ignore his thoughts of just taking his food back to his duplex. "Do you, er, need any help?" Avery asked, glancing at the crutches and secretly hoping the other man would say no.

William Woodrow
Billy finished loading his tray, thankfull of his extra limbs. He could at least still function as best as he was able, even with two tied up in the crutches. He eased his way towards the tables, making sure to sit a few tables away from the blond-haired man. "I won' be long, I promise," he growled, easing himself into a seat with his back to him, "So y'don' gotta' look a' me fer' long."

Avery Calder
Avery flinched slightly at the comment, feeling guilty. "No, I... I'm sorry. Really, you just startled me, that's all - I didn't hear you come in," he lied. "You don't have to... to rush, or anything." He wasn't sure what to say to make the situation better, and felt very awkward now. Maybe getting up to sit by him would make him feel better?

Avery stood up, picking up his tray and walking over to the table the octopus-man was sitting at. He sat down across from him, setting his tray down as well. "Sorry. Maybe we got off on a bad start, here..." he had been about to introduce himself, when he looked closer at Billy's face - and Avery suddenly placed the accent. "Billy!?" he gasped.

William Woodrow
At the sudden shout, Billy jumped but thankfully only a little dribble of ink slid down from his lips. He grunted in frustration, picking up a napkin in a tentacle to dab his beard, "Sound s'prised. We met b'fer?"

Avery Calder
"Yeah - you... don't remember? You were, uh, hitting on me before," Avery said, and then instantly regretting it. Maybe he shouldn't have reminded him of that... it had been amusing before, but now he hoped Billy wouldn't try again.

"My name is Avery. We met before either of us.... changed, in here," he said, waving a hand to indicate the cafeteria. Avery noticed the dark liquid dribble from Billy's mouth, and he blinked. "Um... are you okay? You have some... dark stuff coming out of your mouth..."

William Woodrow
He spat into the napkin, violet eyes narrowed, "Avery, eh? Ain' tha' a boy's name?" Once he was properly blotted, he dropped the napkin onto the table. "An' tha' was ink. Side effect, I s'pose," he chuckled bitterly. "An' wah'aboo' y', then? Excreetin' anyt'in?"

Avery Calder
"Well... no, I can't say that I have," he chuckled a little. "But, I've got a tail now, and stupid looking floppy ears... it's been a little while since my first change. I think I'm turning into a dog," he said.

Avery flushed a little. "Uh. And actually, I think Avery can be used for both girls and guys... but, uh," he shifted in his seat uncomfortably. "In this case, yes... I'm a guy," he mumbled the last part, glancing up at him to see his reaction.

William Woodrow
"Yer a bloody girly lookin' lad," He snorted, shoving a piece of raw fish into his mouth with a tentacle.

Avery Calder
Avery shrugged a little. "I guess so," he said, picking up his fork to resume eating as well. "I don't mind, really, even though a lot of people mistake me for a girl... it doesn't bother me. I like--" he paused for a moment. "I mean... I liked how I looked. I could go without this fur..."

William Woodrow
"I liked how I looked too," He grunted, his tentacle fumbling, dropping the sushi on his lap befor he could get it to his mouth this round.

Avery Calder
Okay, definitely time for a subject change. Avery cleared his throat, "so anyway... how about this whole thing with Aubrey, huh? I can't believe someone would attack one of the scientists here... do you have any ideas who might have done it?" he asked.

William Woodrow
At that, Billy stiffened further, his tentacles wrything in his lap and he gave a hiss as his injured one hit the table. "No," He growled low and dangerously.

Avery Calder
Okay, so, maybe that wasn't a good thing to bring up... Avery thought, but he couldn't help but wonder why Billy seemed uncomfortable talking about that. Unless... he was the one?

"Ah. Yeah, I don't know, either... hopefully whoever did it will just turn themselves in, so the rest of us don't have to get punished for it."

William Woodrow
His tentacles fidgeted further, trembling as he tried to pick up the one piece of fish and rice that had fallen onto his lap. He wasn't a fan of the rice, but he'd been basically living off of the fish since his first change. And he figured the more he changed, the less likely he would get tired of it. He *craved* it. "If *you* killed one o' them bastards, woul' y'turn yerself in?" He raised an eyebrow at him.

Avery Calder
Avery watched him try to pick up the fish, thinking it might be easier to use a fork, but he decided not to suggest it, not wanting to upset the other man any further. "Well, no... I guess I wouldn't... but I wouldn't do something like that in the first place. I just don't get how they expect any of us to solve it..."

William Woodrow
Frustrated with his changed body, as he had been the last couple days, Billy gave a growl, shoving his tray away forcefully, sending it clattering towards the other side of the table, "Because they're bloody MORONS tha' jes' wanna' bloody FECK WIT' OUR HEADS."

Avery Calder
Avery jumped in his seat, startled at Billy's sudden outburst. Maybe he should have just stayed where he had been sitting. It seemed all Avery was doing was making the other man upset. "Um... maybe... we should talk about something else," he murmured, even though he agreed with Billy - but he was kind of frightening when he was angry.

William Woodrow
"So I changed two nights ago," Billy muttered, shifting back in his chair, stretching out his weak legs.

Avery Calder
"Oh, uh, did you? I'm... sorry to hear that," Avery said, relaxing a little. "How long has it been, is this your first change?" he asked, curious as to how long of a wait there was in between changes. He wanted to at least get an idea of when the next time he might change would be... although he wasn't sure he'd feel better or worse if he knew when to expect it.

William Woodrow
"Second," He sighed, brows furrowing. "It bloody sucks," He hissed, tentacles quivering, "An' it's bloody hard t'NO' think aboo' it."

Avery Calder
"Second!?" Avery looked surprised. "I've only changed once... I guess that means I should expect one sometime soon," he sighed, and wondered if Rex had changed already too. Rex did change before him, after all...

"I'm sure it does suck... it's hard to stop thinking about extra things on your body, I guess." My tail is a pain in the a** sometimes - literally at times too - but having tentacles must be worse, he thought. Better not to say that out loud. "But after time, I guess we'll get used to them. Oh," he suddenly remembered the incident with Awen trying to escape off the island.

"You should probably stay away from salt water. I'm guessing you're turning into a... squid, or octopus, right... someone else on the island - Awen - she's turning into an aquatic animal too. But when she tried to swim off the island, it was really bad. Apparently the scientists can make it so salt water animals can only swim in fresh water here. Just to warn you, so you don't get hurt..."

William Woodrow
"Thanks," He grunted, "Bu' she alrea'y warned me." He lifted his long, top tentacles up to frown at them, "Why... a bloody octopus, tha's wha' I want t'know."

Avery Calder
"Oh, good - I didn't know you met her yet," Avery nodded. "I wouldn't want a repeat of that to happen to anyone else."

Why an octopus? That was a good question... of course, Avery didn't know the answer, and he shrugged. "I don't know why an octopus... I don't know why any of the people here are changing into the animals that they are. Maybe there isn't a reason... maybe it's just randomly picked."

William Woodrow
"Well, y'go' better luck'n me, I'll bet," He grunted, reaching for his crutches, "Me damn legs don' e'en work righ' now."

Avery Calder
"I... guess it's just luck of the draw. But if I had it my way I wouldn't be changing into anything at all, although I'm sure everyone - well, most everyone here feels the same way. Besides," he murmured, "I wouldn't say I'm lucky yet... I heard that one of the other canines here seems to be turning into a full fledged canine - walking on all fours and everything. I haven't met him yet, but... there's no saying that won't happen to me. And this one girl I met has horns, even though what she's turning into doesn't have horns..." he shook his head. No, Avery wasn't going to jinx himself by saying he was lucky quite yet. Who knows what kind of extra things he could grow?

William Woodrow
"Well, I go' bloody tentacles," He grunted, easing himself up onto the crutches to hobble around the table to collect the tray he had knocked away.

Avery Calder
"It could be worse," Avery said, standing up. "You could be turning into a... um," he struggled a moment to think of something. "A bug - like a spider, or bee or something." He shuddered a little at the thought. Avery moved around the table, "here, I can get that for you," he said, reaching down to pick up the tray for him.

William Woodrow
Billy's tentacles smacked wetly against Avery's hands befor snatching the tray away with his suckers, sending the contents of it clattering to the floor, but he ignored them, "I aint a CRIPPLE."

Avery Calder
Avery jerked back suddenly, pulling away from him and resisting the urge to rub his hand. "O-okay, I'm sorry... I was just trying to help... I wasn't trying to say you were," he murmured meekly, ears pressed back against his head and his tail tucking between his legs without Avery even thinking about it.

William Woodrow
Billy hissed through his teeth, eyes slightly manic for a moment as he staggered back away from the dog-boy. "I kin' do it." He limped back, forgetting the food he dropped.

Avery Calder
Avery didn't help him this time, not even touching the food still on the floor. He wanted to help, but Billy obviously didn't want him to. Avery moved back to his seat, sitting down to finish off his own food quietly - and quickly.

William Woodrow
Billy dropped the tray off clumsilly where it belonged befor crutching to the door as fast as he could, his head tucked down against the tentacles of his chest.

Avery Calder
Avery took his time eating after Billy left, making sure to give him plenty of time to go where ever it is he was off to. He didn't want to run into him again - at least not today, and hopefully next time they ran into each other he would be a little... calmer. When he finished eating, Avery cleaned up his tray and left the cafeteria.

Avery slept in late that day, taking his time to stay in his duplex with no hurry to leave. He had no desire to get involved with the whole attacker business, and it seemed to be stressing a lot of people out. He took a long shower, enjoying the warm water, then stepped out to dry himself off. He changed into some clean clothes and sat down on his bed to begin the long process of brushing his hair, being careful not to drag the brush bristles over his sensitive dog ears.

Awen still fumed slightly as she knocked on Avery's door so perhaps it was just a little too agressive of a knock. She tried being nice but that Antony just had to say things didn't she? She sighed softly and just tried to let it go.

She closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them. At the very least she couldn't take this negativity to the dog-boy. Especially not since she had to ask a favour of him.

Avery was startled by the forceful sounding knock, glancing at the door, a little worried who it might be. He stood up and walked over to the door, opening it just a crack so he could peek outside.

He relaxed when he saw it was Awen, and he smiled, opening the door wider and giving her room to come inside. "Hey girl! It's been a while! How have you been?" he asked.

Awen moved quickly inside and smiled brightly. "Hiya Avery!" She beamed slightly, though she had been in a bad mood...who ever could stay that way around Avery?

"Ah well.. you know pretty okay... What about you then?"
PostPosted: Tue May 09, 2006 4:49 pm

"I've been so-so," Avery said, closing the door after she stepped inside. "A bit worked up about this whole thing with Aubrey, though," he sighed. "But, anyway - let's not talk about that. I've worried enough about it. So what brings you to my neck of the woods?" He moved back over to the bed, sitting down and resuming brushing his hair.

Awen scratched her arm as she gave a tiny awkward chuckle. "Yeah what's going on is kind of ...well woah. I've been ducking down myself too."

Pausing she stepped forward and pulled a chair from the table area so she could sit. "But actually... that's kind of why I'm here. Well...hm yeah. Avery, normally you know I wouldn't ask or anything but... could I borrow some clothes?"
PostPosted: Tue May 09, 2006 5:00 pm

Avery blinked. "Borrow some clothes? Well sure, that's no problem. But... don't you have some? I mean, you've been around here longer than I have... what happened to yours?" he asked, raising a curious eyebrow at her.

"Ah well!" She barked another nervous laugh out. "It's not for me. Um.... well ... Sabin... got stuck outside the labs, where all his room and clothes and things are. So he doesn't really have anything to wear, except these dirty muddy clothes that he wore during the storm. He's a little bigger than you, I think, but I can't exactly ask someone else, can I?"

She shook her head slowly. "A lot of the other people I know well enough to ask, would probably tear open my duplex just to get at him." She gave a small smile. "And you aready..well..hinted anyway.. that you were cool with ya know... so... yeah!"
PostPosted: Tue May 09, 2006 5:14 pm

Avery's eyes widened in surprise. "Sabin, the scientist guy you like? He's staying with you in your duplex!?" He grinned at her then. "Hey, way to go!" he chuckled, winking. "I'm not so sure he'll like my clothes, but you can still borrow them if you want..." He stood up and walked over to his dresser, pulling open the drawer... only to see there wasn't many clothes at all left to pick from. In fact, he only had one set of clean clothing left. "Um," he laughed. "I'm really sorry about this. I guess I fell behind on doing my laundry..." Avery picked up a pink t-shirt with 'real men wear pink' written on the front in black text, and white pants with rainbow colored stars going down the front of each leg. He held them up to show Awen, "because these are the only clean ones I have left right now."

Awen blushed slightly as he winked at her. She was fumbling through her thoughts. Well it really wasn't like.... it was just a safety thing. He trusted her. She couldn't just leave him out in the cafe or entertainment room with the possible labtech-killer on the loose anyway... There wasn't anything that was way to go or to wink about. Awen was going to say all this but was cut off as Avery turned around and showed her what was left of his waredrobe.

She was silent for a moment, her eyes slightly wide. It wasn't funny. Avery wore these clothes.... it wasn't nice to laugh at them. But... but... The dark gothy man like Sabin in... pink and rainbow stars!?

The manta just couldn't help it as she burst out laughing, almost falling right out of the chair. She held up a hand and waves desperately for Avery not to take offense. She tried to stop herself but for some time she couldn't. "I'm sorry!" She finally choked out and repeated a few times as she regained her breath.

"It's just that...those....so aren't Sabin-type clothes!" She grinned broadly still as she stood up. "But they'll do. Thanks Avery!"
