'Have you checked the skies?' Caitlin retorted.
Sparrow gave the woman a bemused look. 'Yes?'

Heh... as a matter of fact... I have. *Koth set the bowl down, matching Sparrow's look and offering it to Caitlin*Have you ever stepped out... from this hole in the ground?

Caitlin froze, and her mother looked equally disturbed.
'...What is it that you two do?' The younger finally asked.
Sparrow was doubly bemused, sensing the sudden tenseness. '...Survive?' Was all the clone could think to offer.
'Perhaps it would be better if you left.' Caitlin's mother said.

*Koth tensed up a fist, though released it again quickly when he thought back to Sparrow and their purpose here*What is it that you... are accusing us of? ... If it were not for these... plants... Your people would have been swallowed by the wurms long ago.

'While we're happy to help survivors, we have no room for pirates here!' Caitlin insisted.
'Pirates?' Sparrow asked incredulously, not even sure she understood what it was they were being labeled as.

Pirates!? On Terra?? ... AhahahahahaHAHAHA! ... If there are pirates in this wasteland... We are not it. A ship though... would be ideal for travel.

'...So you aren't pirates?' Caitlin asked tensely, shaking off an annoyed look.
'No.' Sparrow responded, glancing up at her master.

*He looked down to Sparrow with a smile, then cast his focus back to Caitlin*I am... but a hermit. And this is... my student. From the northern deserts... there is no other sign of life by land, sea... or air.

As the two visibly settled a little again, Caitlin added 'Well, they're out there, and all the ones I've met have been thieving jerks. I guess that's why they call themselves pirates. Since they travel by air, unless you have a ship, I doubt you would see them....so far none seem to know we live down here.'
'Which is good, because even when they aren't taking from their own kind to survive, they're bringing our children into the same lifestyle. They're a load of scum.' Caitlin's mother added.
'What is wrong with survival of the fittest?' Sparrow found herself asking, to which she received a stern look.
'What's wrong with it? There's no honor in taking from people weaker than you to survive--I think if you have to do that to survive, then you're better off dead!' The younger spat.

Only the strong shall... survive. ... Hiding away in fear... You'll die either way. Heh. *Koth twitched, uncomfortable in his human skin. A small spark of DRK leaped off his arm, and he shrugged it off*I need no ship... to pierce the heavens.

'How is that?' Caitlin demanded.
Sparrow looked up, sensing the DRK, though the other two had apparently missed it. She slowly got to her feet, glancing back at the others.

You advance so little... hiding away... If you don't starve first... someone or something else will take everything from you. Even your lives... If there are others alive, they may be better practice. Heh.

'Practice what?' Caitlin demanded.
Sparrow handed the now-empty bowl back to Caitlin's mother, silently waiting for the command to leave, which she now anticipated.

'What?' Catlin asked, standing up as well.
'I suppose it is a trait of humans to base their opinions on appearances alone?' Sparrow asked, looking to her master and smiling a bit as well.'
