As far as I can tell, since I'm watching CNN most of the time now, they are using helicopters to pour water on top of the reactors.

You know what's weird, they tried that earlier and couldn't manage it cause of radiation levels.
But you know what's admirable? The plant workers, and the helicopter pilots now are doing it despite the fact they're most likely going to die a burning death from the inside out. Now that's dedication to the people around you.

Yeah, I definately admire their culture. If the disasters would have happened in the states, there would have been looting and crime.

Someone at work today said that some people in the states were like...glad for it? An example commentary being "Take that something something something, suckers"
Additional thoughts?

I believe that it is the helicopters can not go over certain reactors because they're sending out a plume of radiation.

Yeah I've seen a lot of trolls on the internet on gaia saying things that were really just messed the freaken hell up. Like "serves them after pearl harbor" when I'm pretty sure 2 ATOMIC BOMBS and an all out battle across the pacific was more than enough.

Seconded Mav ^.^ They have power lines attached to the plant now though. They just need to check over some safety things before they turn anything on.

I heard it fell over. And Radiation in the water levels were only dangerous for babies under 1 yr old for a day, (they dropped back down) so they gave out bottled water to families with babies. Though the freak out for bottles of water continues as two prefectures also declared their water unsafe for babies after the radiation levels dropped in the first prefecture where it was unsafe. X_x
As for food, leafy vegetables are most susceptible-> which really sucks as the region around the reactors is known for fruit (like strawberries) and stuff. o.0
ALSO two of the workers (out of like 2 dozen total injured since the plants went crazy) have gotten radiation burns to the soles of their feet while trying to connect power lines and stuff.
Google news ppl!

dang the last shooting for Gundam! crying
yeah, I also heard that couple of the workers at the plant have been taken to hospitals because the containment vessel on one of the reactors has a crack and is leaking plutonium on top of the other radiation from the rods.

Ohhh o.0 that's news to me!
I kind of like that we're staying on top of this ^.^
As an additional question, is anyone planning on doing earth hour this saturday? (8:30 pm, you turn off all the lights and electronics for an hour.)
