I hope nobobdy has done a werewolf yet. So here is my assignment smile
A werewolf is a human who, upon the rising of the full moon, turns into a fearsome animal that cannot control itself, it would hurt it's best friend if they were close enough. Werewolves can be distinguished from regular wolves by several small distinguishing characteristics, such as the pupils of the eyes, snout shape, and tufted tail. Werewolves can live among humans, although it is often hard for them to find jobs because of their condition. They will often seem to be ill as the full moon approaches. There is no known cure for a werewolf bite. Although there is a new potion that can allow the transformation to be less painful and cruel.

HomeworkVampires Vampires are mythological or folkloric beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures, regardless of whether they are undead or a living person. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in many cultures and in spite of speculation by literary historian Brian Frost that the "belief in vampires and bloodsucking demons is as old as man himself", and may go back to "prehistoric times", the term vampire was not popularized until the early 18th century, after an influx of vampire superstition into Western Europe from areas where vampire legends were frequent, such as the Balkans and Eastern Europe, although local variants were also known by different names, such as vrykolakas in Greece and strigoi in Romania. This increased level of vampire superstition in Europe led to mass hysteria and in some cases resulted in corpses actually being staked and people being accused of vampirism.

(i'm not exactly sure if this is a dark creature, I might be branching off into CoMC, but hey, I try ^^) Okay, I think i'm going to choose Thestrals for my assignment. Nub pulls out her ink, quill and parchment
Quote: Thestrals are the most elusive and least horse-like breed of magical winged horse. They have acquired an undeserved reputation as omens of evil. They are visible only to those who have witnessed and accepted a death, and are described as having "blank, white, shining eyes," a "dragonish face," "long, black manes," "great leathery wings," and the "skeletal body of a great, black, winged horse." They are also described, as "dead clever an' useful." Thestrals have fangs and possess a well-developed sense of smell, which will lead them to carrion and fresh blood. According to Hagrid, they will not attack a human-sized target without provocation. Their wings are capable of very fast flight for at least several hours at a time, though they usually spend their time on the ground, and they have an excellent sense of direction. The breed is domesticable, given a willing trainer (Hagrid suspects that he has the only domesticated herd in Britain). Thestrals can be used to pull loads, and make a serviceable if very uncomfortable mode of transportation for someone with enough nerve. .

 *Text walks in*
"Hello, Professor! Sorry I'm late."
*Looks at the homework assignment and takes out a piece of parchment and a quill, before carefully writing out her answer*
There is one dark creature that is known as a hinkypunk. Hinkypunks are small, and are one legged. They appear as though they are made out of wisps of smoke. They carry lanterns, and like to lead travelers off track straight into a bog; this is what makes them so dangerous. The muggle term for a hinkypunk is 'will-o'-the-wisp'.

Slytherin:
Kisaki walks into the classroom. She looks around and says quietly, "I'm new here so could anyone please fill me in on what I need to do?" She bites her lip in a nervous manner.

A student looks nervously around the room. She quickly takes her place. "Hello, I'm Heart. just got here for the year...I'm a first year, by the w-way." She scribbles a few notes on some parchment before taking out her wand.
After reciting the spell a few times, she whispers "Locomotor m-mortis." She looks horrified as the singed tang arises from the tips of her hair. Furrowing her eyebrows, she determinedly says "locomotor mortis" once more, and smiles softly as the statue falls over.
Heart then copies the homework on the board.

Well done Nerevar Telvanni! Well done Tsuki_iice, Sparrow Puppy and liveXdarkheartXevil! 5 points each for performing the Leg-Locker curse! Don't give up Goddess Calysto, I know you can do a patronus!
And Aludra, you want another assignment? I'm not sure.. I don't want everyone to be at different levels.. I want everyone to be done casting their years' spell first.

Here's my assignment porfessor, I see someone has already done Hinkypunks but I hope it's allright if I did the same creature.
Hinkypunks
Hinkypunks are small one-legged creatures that are found in bogs, swamps and marches and are often described as having a mischievous and malevolent nature. They appear to travellers as dots of flickering light or smoke at night and try to lure them off the path to a watery grave. Muggles call them will-o'-the-wisp, or ignis fatuus which is Latin for flame + foolish. Some other names they have also been given include; corpse candle, jack-o'-lantern, friar's lantern, gunderslislik, and wisp. Hinkypunks are thought to be spirits of the dead that could not enter heaven or hell and so malignantly wander the earth leading foolish travellers astray. Tales of these creatures are found all over the world, including North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

WEREWOLVES Ravenclaw: Heart Werewolves are humans infected with lycanthropy who become nearly a wolf when the full moon occurs. Some small differences can distinguish the werewolf from an actual wolf, such as the pupils, shape of the snout, and tail. This spreading of the disease usually happens when a werewolf bites a human, for it is a saliva-spread illness. On the other hand, if a human is bitten by a werewolf who is in their human form, the victim only gains some lupine habits. Only humans are known to be capable of being infected with lycanthropy. There is no cure for the illness, but taking the wolfsbane potion will help with the worst effects of the transformation. After transforming, the werewolf loses its human mind, and tends to bite or kill the nearest human or animal. They are found world-wide, and have a rating of XXXXX, in wolf-form.
