"Can't we sleep in your bed with you Mommy?" little Ally asked with a yawn.

"No...you two need to start sleeping in your own beds like big boys in girls." Misty replied as she tucked a striped cover around her little girl. Well...cot was more like it. Since Alex, Warp, and Roxanne were staying in her apartment as well, she had no place else to let her children sleep other than her room. Not that she was complaining...she felt better knowing that they were in the same room as her. It was just...well there was little to no room for anything else.

"I am big girl..." Ally said with another yawn.

"I know you are sweetie."
Misty said softly, planting a kiss on the girl's forehead. "And big girls need to sleep. Alright."

"Mmmmn."

Smiling, Misty stood and glanced at the cot next to Ally's. Eric was already sound asleep. Or at least it looked like he was. Sometimes he liked to pretend just to see if anyone would notice. Satisfied that they were actually going to sleep rather than hop up and run around, Misty carefully slipped out of the room for a moment to get ready for bed herself.

Alex met her as she reached the hallway. A cell phone in one hand and a toothbrush in the other. "Roxy just called. Said they're checking things out so don't wait up for them. Something about things are different again. Like places have been moved around or missing. Some people don't even recognize who they are anymore."

Misty stopped a moment and blinked. "What do you mean different?"

"I don't know. She thinks there was another weird merging thing happen over night. Stores are missing or moved around. And some people don't even remember meeting them." Alex replied.

Misty looked at her for a long moment. Another...another universal flip flop? People missing or don't remember meeting them?
Would...could there be a possibility then...that Savage didn't exist here anymore? Or that he wouldn't remember ever meeting her?
A loud squeak jerked her attention away and she turned to find Eric standing in the bedroom doorway. "Coming to bed Mommy?"

Misty automatically smiled at him. "I'm coming. I have to brush my teeth and get ready for bed too."

Eric nodded and turned to go back into the room.

Misty's smile fell once he left, and she turned back to Alex. "Did you notice anything different?"

"Not around here." she replied. "Do you want to check it out tomorrow? I can stay here with the kids if you want."

Misty hesitated a moment, then shook her head. "No, no. Tomorrow's my turn with the twins. I'll watch them." she replied, turning and heading back into the bedroom.
She needed to sleep on this. If things were different, and there was a chance Savage wasn't here...then...she could freely spend time with her children outside. Take them to the park. Just be seen together with them rather than have Roxanne and Warp appear to be their parents when they're out and about. She wouldn't have to be paranoid.
Of course...what if he was one of the ones that made it here too? Then she went out with her kids...he seen them...followed them...
She couldn't do it. She couldn't do it again.

Upon entering the room, her thoughts subsided. Neither of her children were in their beds. They were however lying in her bed, and had given her enough space to lie down beside them. She smiled and sighed to herself as she carefully walked around the empty cots to slip into a pair of old pajamas.
"Didn't I say something about sleeping in your own beds? Do I really have to get cribs for you two?"

"We climb now." one of them mumbled sleepily.

"Just climb out." the other agreed.

"Well," Misty said gently as she crawled into the empty spot. "Tomorrow you two will sleep in your own beds. Do I make myself clear?"

"Mmmmmn..."

"I mean it..."

"Kay..."

Misty had just enough time to get comfortable when she felt one of them snuggle up to her and rest their head on her arm. The other soon followed and snuggled up against her other shoulder.

Misty sighed and closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep. She'd think things out tomorrow. She really didn't want to think about negative outcomes right now. She just couldn't. Not with these two. She wasn't going to screw this up. Not again.

Arell looked at the brochure and back up at one of the buildings. "Kinda wonder how this thing works anyways . . ." he said to nobody in particular as he took a contemplative puff on his cigarette. Jeez, I probably go through more smokes than anyone back home. he thought.

"Fine," John replied wearily. Now that his anger had burned out, he was left with very little but a kind of hollow exhaustion; he couldn't even make himself worry too much about what the cat was doing. Besides, it apparently had the power to alter reality around it; if it wanted to screw with him, or his family, there wasn't a whole lot that he could do... aside from depriving it of any reaction.

// xd Yay! //

The black cat practically beamed, his pearly white smile wrapping around his face. "Wonderful." he purred. "Don't worry about it. It will be a safe place for him. You won't regret it. Not right away anyway." he said with a small twinkle in his eye.

The boy glanced from the cat to the red clad hero. "Wait, you're leaving me with a cat?" he said with a rather teenager appropriate sneer.

"Oh, don't worry." C.C. purred, his grin growing. "You'll have plenty to be thinking about when we get there. Let's just leave the hero to what he wants for now."
With that, black smoke began to curl out from around the cat's feet and drifted it's way around the two.

"Please don't do anything stupid," John put in quickly, wanted to drill that sentiment into the kid's head before he could disappear. He wasn't sure that he was doing the right thing, letting the cat take him, but... God dammit, HE sure as hell didn't have anywhere safe to leave him.

"Oh, don't worry," a soft, feminine voice purred. John felt someone's hand run along the length of his shoulders, and immediately spun around. There was no one there. Even so, a voice continued to speak, low in his ear. "You'll have plenty to think about, too."

"Wh--" He jerked his head around again.

A woman made entirely out of smoke (he had just enough time to get that impression) winked at him with dark, too-shiny eyes, then vanished.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 7:44 pm

The cat caught the figure of smoke as well. If possible, his grin grew even wider and the twinkle in his eyes turned...rather menacing.
The smoke engulfed the two completely, and gently faded into nothing but an empty street.

==========

The smoke curled into a large pile in the center of a cream colored hallway. When it dissipated, only the teenage boy was left standing. He stood there blinking, taking in the drastic change of scenery. On a passing thought, he glanced down at himself to make sure nothing was missing. Fingers, toes, erm, well sneakers anyway.
Once he was sure he was alright, he let out a breath he'd been holding. "That was so freaking weird..." he mumbled to himself. He glanced down at the floor, and found no cat. He glanced around the room, and quickly realized that he was all by himself.
"What the....what the heck am I supposed to do now?" he grunted, looking about the hallway. Well, he was in a hotel or something. Place was clean, rows of doors, and the wallpaper and lighting practically screamed it. But...which door? Where was he?

A little more than agitated at his abandonment, he turned to kick the wall next to him. The impact made a rather hollow crack, and he quickly pulled his foot away at the site of smooth oak rather than tacky cream wall.
"Jeeze! You trying to break the door?" a woman's voice growled from behind the door.
The boy swallowed and looked up at the door. Room 28. He didn't even notice he was right beside a room. Guess this was enough of a clue that this was the place he was supposed to stay at. Now that he'd just made whoever it was mad.

...great.

John stared at the now empty patch of concrete, trying to push away the feeling that he had just made a horrible, horrible mistake. Finally he shook his head sharply, drew in a deep breath, and bounded back up onto a nearby roof, after which point he set about trying to find Blackstone again. If the man wasn't part of what was going on, then chances were pretty good that he knew what was happening, anyway. Now... if only he could talk to him without wanted to shove his fist down his wind pipe. Well... he'd handle that when it came up. Or just tail him. Whatever came first.

Luckily, Blackstone was still traveling on foot. He had contemplated taking a taxi a few times, but one never came. For the best he supposed. He was so used to private means of travel, the very thought of sitting in a car that was....eck.

With a glower still etched on his face, mostly from irritation since his anger had subsided, he continued to walk. The apartment complex he had been given was said to be very common, but would hold something of interest for him. With no other place to stay in this world, he had decided to check it out. If nothing else, he could simply conjure up his own mansion in one of the unused areas of the city.

Creeping after him like a silent, particularly spidery shadow and taking pains to remain both out of earshot and out of range of any spells he might have working, John kept his eyes peeled for possible threats. After all, Blackstone usually had underlings of one kind or another; he didn't want to get blindsided by someone else while focusing on his absolute terror of a nemesis. He was already outclassed enough as it was without adding other people into the mix.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:29 pm

After a while, Blackstones anger dissipated enough for him to grow bored of simply walking. With a disgruntled sigh, he pulled out the paper to check the location of the apartment one more time.

Mmm...he didn't have much further to go. Perhaps another half an hour by foot.

As he slipped the paper back into his pocket, he took a discreet glance behind him. More specifically towards the roofs nearby. He didn't hear, or see anything, but he could feel that he was being watched. Centuries of living, such a feeling was hard to mistake for anything else.

=======

The door jangled with locks, and then swung open as far as it would go. A rather irritated nineteen year old girl with dark hair and eyes stood in the center and stared straight ahead. She blinked, then glanced down. Her irritation grew on her face.
"Did you just kick the door?" she nearly growled.

The boy swallowed. "Um...yeah. Sorry. I couldn't find the place I'm...supposed to stay at. Is...um...this it?"

The girl arched a dark eyebrow at him.

Blackstone glanced back subtly, and John eased to a stop behind a chimney. Damn, the man's instincts were just too good. He was probably picking a fight, just doing this, and he did not want a fight. ... Not really. ...Well... okay, yes really, but that didn't make picking one any smarter. Blackstone really didn't seem to be going anywhere in particular, anyway; following him any further was likely to be useless.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 10:18 pm

Seeing nothing, Blackstone simply turned his attention back to the task at hand. If he was being watched, and given his previous encounter he could probably guess who it was, he had no need to get into a fight unless the boy decided to start one. He'd already ruined his suit after all. No need to destroy what was left of it.

Now that he'd calmed down enough, he probably could engage in some form of conversation if the boy chose to. But...there was no telling how long it would be polite. Not with him.
He honestly had no idea what was going on, but figured it to be some form of worldly phenomenon...or outer worldly interference. That wouldn't surprise him either. Either way, he wasn't sure the boy knew any more than he did.

======

The teenager sat at a large sofa with an akward silence that was rather out of character for him. He stared across at a tiny girl with large blue eyes. She simply stared back, not brave enough to actually say hello. Her backwards twin was hiding behind another couch, peeking around the end every few minutes and diving right back.

Alex, as the woman had called herself, came back into the living room with a plate full of chocolate chip cookies. Her gaze was fixed on the boy, but there was an strange interest in them.
"Alright...so you were brought here by a magic cat who said you'd be safe to stay here? And that was after you were with Arachnis?" she asked as she put the plate down on the table in front of him.
The twins immediately rushed over and grabbed the largest cookie they could find.

"Yeah...I know it sounds pretty stupid. But...that's what happened." the teenager replied.

Alex stood and stared at him curiously for a long moment. Kid was telling the truth. He was nervous...but she could tell he wasn't making it up. The whole situation would definitely need to be looked into. She wasn't sure why the kid was supposed to stay here with them. Staying with a group of super heroes wasn't exactly the safest thing one could do.
...still....the kid kind of looked familiar. Like she'd seen him in pictures or something.
"Well...there are a lot of us staying here. Other than camping it out on the floor...I'm not sure there's much room for you. But...we'll talk it over when everyone else gets here. Help yourself to what you need until they all get here." she replied.

The boy shifted in his seat, then glanced back over at the two toddlers.

The Joker woke up on his back, in a straightjacket, in a corner of his usual padded cell at Arkham Asylum. The clown didn't know how much time he'd already lost, but he knew it was too much. He needed to go after Gossamer. NOW. It had been close to five weeks. The doctors had done their best to follow Batman's order to the letter for a change, changing the combination of sedatives as often as possible to keep his system in shock. However, due to his habitual abuse of his own compunds that would kill anyone that hadn't spent months building a tolerance to them, his body eventually built a tolerance for the sedatives, culminating in his recovery now. The Ace of Knaves worked his way onto his knees, cracked his neck a few times, stratched as best as he could with the straightjacket, and then with a loud grunt, dislocated both of his shoulders. Working his arms upwards slowly, the clown forced himself out of the jacket, eventually being free of it. This took about ten minutes. Used to take fifteen, but he'd gotten better with time. Now free of the jacket, Joker used the walls for support as he relocated his shoulders one at a time. Now, all he needed was to get out of the cell. "Oh, guard," the Joker yelled through the wondow of his cell door, "Avon calling!"

// Bleh. Time skip. //

Back in their abandoned hotel, Gossamer sat in her little closet of a room, going over more of her magic books. She'd made sure that the entire building was safe. At least safe enough that she felt Rosie didn't need to be confined to one or two rooms. She still wouldn't let the girl out of the building without her. But...with Vice here now, she was allowed to go to the park with him. He could make the both of them invisible and intangible. She had nothing to worry about there.
And if anything put so much as a toe inside her building, she would know. And she would catch them before they had a chance to get to this level of the building. She wasn't taking any chances. None.

CRASH!!

Gossamer flinched at the sound, froze, stared at the door, then sighed in aggravation as laughter followed down the hall. Very carefully, she closed the book she was currently on and stood from her chair. She walked out of the room and arched a dark brow as she entered the room next door.

Inside, little Rosie sat at the end of the couch, beating a control handle furiously. Her full concentration and focus on the screen in front of her.
Beside her, standing on the couch, was Vice. Beating a controller with a little less urgency than Rosie. "Psyche!" he called triumphantly.

"That was a dirty trick." Rosie grumbled, kicking the bottom of the couch with a yellow pajama covered leg.

"After that move you pulled on level seven, I'd say that was quite fair." Vice beamed. He was also in a pair of pajamas...thought they were clearly from the women section. He hadn't quite had the time to go shopping for himself yet.

"What was that you two promised about being quiet?" Gossamer asked as she crossed her arms and leaned against the door frame.

"Sorry." they both replied in unison. Their attention still fixated on the tv.

"What did you break anyway?"

"Dunno." Vice replied.

"Something in the kitchen." Rosie added.

Gossamer blinked, then shook her head and started for the kitchen. Best not to ask. She'd taken not that Vice tended to act like a child around Rosie. And Rosie...well...didn't act so much like a child around him. But that was to be expected.
