Koko was quiet for a moment, looking up at the sky now. When she spoke again, it was quite slow, as though she was picking her words carefully.
"I.. don't mean to sound as though I know anything, because I don't.... but, I have a memory of when I was younger. You see, I'm Earth born, the only one left I think. The others either died or never came here.... & I recall my dad having a belief, that there are different universes. Maybe you're from a different one you know? Like, another reality.... Somehow you slipped into my reality, maybe?"
She looked over at him, looking rather sad - her eyes looked shiny, like she was holding back tears.
"Your fiance.... what was she like? I'm sure you loved her."

Zed thought hard for a moment.
"I... I can't remember... I can't even remember the sound of her voice or even her face... I wish I hadn't lost that photo..."
He closed his eyes.
"There's no way of getting back to her or my own reality..."

Neo tilted his head to the side, "Maybe they didn't get teir license on this 'planet', 'cause that ship was nothing like any of the ships here, it feels different, sounds different." He kept walking, taking quicker steps then John to keep up with him, he frowned slightly, "I don't know, I haven't been paying much attention and the sound of that ship is still ringing in my ears... Why do you ask."

Koko lowered her eyes, she felt really upset for the poor man - he'd lost practically everything & there didn't seem to be anything she could do to help him. Sitting up & drawing her knees up, she wrapped her arms round her legs.
Not being able to remember her face.... poor Zed....
She looked over at him, since he had his eyes shut she didn't feel compelled to look away. For a moment, as she looked at him, Koko felt a strange feeling in her chest. She shook her head & turned her head away again, sighing deeply.
"So, what will you do now...?"

"Well, up until this morning I buried myself in a desert"
He smiled slightly.
"So, I have no idea really..."
As they were a long way from the sleeper ship city, night was falling over the Jungle.

Koko flopped back onto the ground, one hand behind her head. She yawned slightly, closing her eyes.
"It's getting dark.... but this place stays warm even at night.... it's a great...place...."
Her voice trailed off, her breathing becoming slower, more steady. She hadn't had much sleep for the past 3 days, so now her energy levels were running seriously low.

Zed pressed a button on his uplink to the ship and moments later the Aiolos was silently hovering overhead. Zed activated the ship's auto turret defences. Zed had regestered Koko as a 'friendly' so that the turrets wouldn't shoot her. Shortly afterwards, Zed also fell asleep.

John nodded "Fair point. It does seem a little too fast and advanced for what we trained with." John turned his head towards Neo. "I was sking 'cos I don't know where you live. Or even if I know how to get there."

A small blush of embarrassment creeped onto Neo's cheeks, "I'm sorry, Mr John, I'm supposed to be giving you directions but instead I'm spacing out because of a strange ship!" He concentrated on their surroundings for a moment, listening for any familiar sounds, "Ummm, take a right..... Here."

Koko stayed asleep for a few hours before finally opening her eyes. She noticed the Aiolos hovering above them both and smiled slightly, talking to herself.
"You're a paranoid one aren't you Zed?"
She yawned a little bit, looking around her. Something didn't seem quite right.... Her back felt very warm, even though the night air was pleasant, this was a definite heat. Plus, it was soft - the ground wasn't that soft when she went to sleep - and it was.... moving? Turning herself over, Koko then realsied she was lying on Zed. She froze for a moment, making sure he was still asleep, then practically leapt backwards, her face going bright red.

Zed woke up a moment later.
"Huh? What?... Where?"
He rubbed his eyes and sat up.
"oh, i musta fallen asleep."
Zed pushed a button on his uplink and the Aiolos lowered itself slightly, the lower cargobay doors open. Zed put his jetpack back on and stood up.
"I don't want to land it, so lets just jetpack up."

Koko shook her head slightly, not really paying attention, then her head snapped up.
"Oh, oh right, yeah ok.... ummm...."
She walked over to the rocks near the waterfall to retrieve her jetpack & top, slipped them both on then came back to Zed. She didn't wait for him to take off first this time, instead she just pressed the button & flew up to the Aiolos. Her flight path was a little shaky, but certainly better than last time.

Zed laughed as he flew up and landed in the cargo bay.
"it's not as easy in a sandstorm."
He took off his jetpack and quickly returned to the ship's cockpit, where he quickly busied himself looking for something. He was searching around for a moment when he knocked a panel loose. He found what he was looking for underneath the panel.
"It's still here!"
Zed pulled a jar containing some dirt and a small plant out of the space beneath the panel.

When Koko wandered into the cockpit a few moments later, she saw Zed pull out a jar of dirt & tilted her head to the side.
"Errr.... Zed, why do you have a jar with dirt in it inside a panel?"
She came over to get a closer look, wondering why he might have such a thing in the ship.

"This is no ordinary jar of dirt... It's a jar of Earth."
Zed opened the top of the jar and prodded at a small fern-like plant that was in the soil.
"This is what they want from me... other than information and my ship... This is physical evidence of life surviving on earth... But no-one can know about it."
Zed closed the lid and placed it back under the panel.
