Sorri had been following along with the lesson with wavering attentiveness. Mostly paying some attention to the presented information, but at times she had drifted off completely. The blue dragon that lived in a cold climate and was weak against ice was far more interesting. The girl wondered how they'd survive a snowstorm. Finally hazarding a guess at the instructor's questions, she mentally reviewed what she heard about the dragon's attacks and said, "Drain and blind, maybe?" It seemed reasonable enough.

"Good guess Sorri! They do indeed carry Drain and Blind, as well as Bio, Break, and Death. Are there any final questions before we move on to the last Dragon?" Aki asks, happy to see a different student answer this time.

The girl hadn't really expected to be correct at all, so she was more than content with being half right. She had no further questions on the dragons, save one. "How big are they? And how fast?" Alright, two. The projection gave no sense of proportion, and dragons were supposed to be pretty huge. Sorri didn't care about the hexadragons, since they were bulky looking and would be a pain to face anyway, but these dragons looked like they could move. To her, a quick opponent was tougher than a bloated road block any day. Especially if they could fly.

Normally, Miles would have felt horrible at not knowing anything even close to what the other students seemed to know. But the accomplishment of taking so many notes in so little time was too much for her to feel bad about anything at all. She was learning a lot and that was a good day for her.
When she caught a break in the stream of information, she realized that she would have to do more research to add to her notes. Most of the attacks of a blue dragon were unknown to her, and she had never been to Bika Snowfields or Trabia Garden. Not to mention that she had no idea what a Fury Fragment was either.
And the young girl she waved to before brought up some great questions. It was safe to assume a dragon was big, but just how big was important. The spell Haste would keep her fast enough to at least be able to fight a dragon if the situation ever arose, but it was good to know these things. Miles had a casual smile on her face and was starting to feel confident enough to actually answer questions when the next dragon came around.

"Good question Sorri. All Dragons are pretty darn big, and the Blue Dragon is no exception. I'd say they average at about twelve to fifteen feet high, but I've seen them get as big as twenty feet. As for their speed, their size does slow them down a little bit, but they are still pretty quick considering. This is most likely because they walk on two legs instead of four, so despite their size they are still fairly agile However a good haste spell should do wonders against it. Of course if they are flying, it's a different story. With the exception of the wingless Hexadragon, Dragons are about twice as fast in the air as they are on the ground, so if one is ever chasing you, try to stay out of open areas. You'll have a much greater chance of escaping if the Dragon can't fly," Aki says with a bright smile. "Let's move on, shall we?" She clicks the button on the projector, and the image changes to a huge Ruby Dragon which was roaring menacingly. Aki looks up at the picture with an almost fond grin, then looks back at her class. "The notorious Ruby Dragon. It's the strongest, smartest, most powerful non-GF Dragon we know of, and quite frankly one of the most powerful monsters in the world. I would highly recommend you stay as far away from these guys as you can. Now, can anyone tell me where they are commonly found?"

And she could venture a guess at that latest question, so she raised her hand. But instead of waiting to be picked on, Miles started as she lifted her arm.
"In a desert, perhaps...?" If the Blue Dragon was in a snowfield, didn't it make sense that the Ruby Dragon would be someplace hot? It was only a guess but she nervous to see if it was wrong.

That's a very good guess, but not quite. They can be found on the Centra continent, which is warm, but not necessarily desert like. They are found in the mountains and on the Serengetti Plains. They can also be found throughout the Esthar continent, even as far North as Trabia, the most common place up North being Trabia Canyon. They tend to stick to the mountains, but can be found roaming the plains around their home, likely searching for food. These Dragons are incredibly smart though, and tend to chose homes that are private and difficult to get to. They can be found in quite a number of places, but they are still an uncommon sight. This is largely due to the fact that they are smart and cunning, and usually if you get into a fight with one, it's because it is trying to make you a meal. Though I said before that it is best to run away if you encounter one, there may come a time where you have no choice, so can anyone tell me what their strengths and weaknesses are?"

"Hm," she sighed and nodded, looking up at the Instructor as she gave the correct answer. The dragon did have a warm habit, so Miles was close to being right. That was good enough for her and so she didn't feel lousy at all about it, unlike how she usually behaved when she made a mistake.
But it did sound like their habits varied greatly...mountains and plains and all throughout an entire continent. They certainly didn't limit themselves. She was impressed by their adaptability and sat with a soft smile on her face. Dragons were daunting to be sure, but from the safety of a classroom, she could appreciate their prowess.
Up close, though...she didn't want to be anyone's meal. Regardless of whether it was a dragon literally trying to eat her or a bandit trying to steal her things and sell them, she had no intention of becoming a feast for anybody. Of course, that had its flaws since she had no idea what weaknesses were.
"Well, one strength is obviously that they can fly. And I'm certain they make a very resilient opponent..." But Miles couldn't think of anything else to go along with it. Some magical advantages did come to mind, like using Blizzard, but if they lived in mountains, it was possible they could resist it or even absorb it. She wouldn't take a risk of mentioning it if there was a chance for it to be so horribly wrong.

The dragon was red. Red, ruby, fire? Considering the last dragon was weak against ice even though it lived in a chilly region, the whole fire and ice thing would make sense... It was a safe enough bet.
"Resistant to fire, weak against ice," Sorri suggested lazily. It seemed as if everyone else had stopped paying attention to the class, and even she was only vaguely listening in. The room was warm, and the lights were dim, and the quiet hum of the computers were trying their hardest to lull her to sleep. She was about ready to take a nap herself.

"Yes indeed, Rubys are very resilient. Their scales are hard to penetrate with any sort of weapon. However they do have a softer underbelly which is more venerable, though difficult to get to considering the Dragon walks on all fours. Sorri, you are correct as well. They absorb fire, as well as wind spells, but they are weak against both ice and holy magic. Would anyone care to guess what kind of attacks the Ruby Dragon has, apart from basic physical attacks?"

Having been wrong the last time he tried,Xero decided to listen and learn form the other students from different lands, they might know about these monsters instead of him just guessing. He thought for awhile and raised his hand, "I have a question, Headmistress. What lands do these dragons come from? Are there any of them near us? Do they stay in their respective elements away from each other?" He stopped as he realized he asked more than one question and flooded her with his thoughts.

"Well Xero, as I said earlier they are most commonly found on the Centra and Esthar continents, and around Trabia. However I have never heard of one being spotted in this area, nor anywhere on the Galbadia continent. They are quite solitary creatures and spend most of their time in deep caves in the mountains, occasionally coming down to search for food. I don't recall ever hearing of two Ruby Dragons being seen together, in fact it is even incredibly rare to see an infant. It is my assumption that the mother Dragons keep a close guard over their young until they are old enough to leave and fend for themselves, and since it is rare to find a Dragon's dwelling in the first place, it is even more so to spot young Dragons. So unless you expressly go looking for them, it is uncommon to run into a Ruby Dragon, and you certainly have nothing to worry about here. In fact the deadliest creature we have on the whole island is a T-Rexaur, and they are confined to the Training Center," Aki says, smiling at her student.

The girl she waved to earlier seemed bored with the whole thing. Although it seemed to Miles like it was only because she already knew it all that she would be bored with it.
The Instructor couldn't be more excited, however, and she was happy with the little attentiveness she was getting. The next questions were a mystery to her, so she kept quiet. Other students weren't done yet, but she suddenly felt drained and couldn't do much else. Maybe she would take a nap after the class to regain her spirits...

"Thank you Headmistress, sorry for the rapid questions, but this information you've given me could and might save my life later." He was happy she smiled,at least he knew she wasnt annoyed with the questions. No dragons near here at all, thats a relief!

Aki chuckles and waves her hand dismissively at Xero's apology. "I'm glad you're asking questions. Ruby's in particular are a formidable enemy, and I myself have nearly been killed by one. In fact if I had been alone, I probably would have died. It's good to know as much as possible about your opponents, even ones you may never encounter," Aki says, strangely cheerful for having mentioned a near death experience.
"The Ruby Dragon has basic physical attacks, a claw swipe attack, and the typical breath attack that all dragons have. But it doesn't really have any particularly special physical attacks. It's pure strength alone makes up for that. They also have access to lots of magic, and won't hesitate to use it. They use fire spells, flare, demi, meteor, aero, and reflect. So you see, even without their physical strength they are still incredibly powerful. Plus they are intelligent and can form battle plans as easily as any of us, which makes them tricky opponents. However, all of these spells can be drawn from the Dragon; perhaps not all from the same dragon, but if you are lucky enough to be able to draw flare, meteor, or demi, then you stand a good chance. Just watch out for reflect, because they can be very tricky with it. Are there any more questions on Ruby Dragons?"
