"My sentiments exactly!" Emma called from the back of the hall, stumbling forward as her sorcerer finally released her.

"Simple," replied a Council member."Try this thing for treason, and f found guilty execute, and perform autopsy."
"Oh sit down!" Replied someone in the crowd.
"Maybe we should try them for treason!" Said another.
"No, they will not be tried," Said the council leader. Behind him all major members of different political parties apparated.
The Black Sun. The black magic division, lead by a pale and cruel looking elf woman. They where the smallest division
The Diplomat division. Lead by a grizzly looking troll. This division was rather large.
The General Magic division. Lead by four people.
Lastly the War division. Lead by a perky looking goblin.
"It is known all Silver hearts are against us," Boomed the leader of the Diplomat division."It's common knowledge, and sadly we cannot have enemies of The Folk in our walls."
"It's a wonder we let humans in at all these days," Agreed a council member.

"He is not of your world. Your laws have no jurisdiction over him."
She was shaking now in repressed fury, the ink in her wrist pulsing in tandem with those of the branded Folk. They gasped as the brand burned and hissed, bubbling under the skin.
Then, that faded as well.
...Do you remember how this ended? Someone saved you...how did it go?
Emma, can you see what's keeping those chains up?

((Hope I didn't read this the wrong way.))
A very complex series of emotions flashed through Emma's head, only a few of which were her own. Fear, pain, anger, grief, guilt, remorse, more pain-
She called up her mental walls, shutting out all outside feeling and focusing on the task at hand.
Old wounds could wait.
The enchantress called up her Sight, trying to discern what Scribbler had asked of her.
I'm trying...

"He is of our world, we all are," Replied the lead council member, looking at Scribbler as if she had gone a little odd."We are all born, and deceased on Earth."
He coughed,"Nevertheless this is not an ordinary trial, this is a Lei Trial."
"Let this trial begin," He said, and then started more formally."Each division will send a representative to testify for or against the paladin."
He added,"One of the divisions leaders will defend for the Silver Heart."
[[Darkling word of the day: Lei Trial is a term they use for Millitary Trial, first used on a trial against the murderer Relit Lei. ]]

"He's of a different timelin--- Oh, ******** it all," the inkmancer blurted.
All she could do now was watch the old coots twist truths and smear slander now, and hope the trial went in the paladin's favour. She doubted their justice system.
An apologetic look was shot at Emma once she realized the accidental transfer of emotions before she scanned the stage again, barely listening to the proceedings. If something went wrong...the chains would have to break, and there'd have to be a distraction.

Emma could feel the temperature around her drop like a stone no matter how hard she tried to control it.
Any justice system had flaws, and most were corrupt to begin with.
She knew that all too well.

"Our division will," A cool reply came, and the res of the Black Magic division looked shocked.
The Council leader nodded, and the Black Magic Division, huddled close together. Then they seemed to have picked someone, but the simulation malfunctioned, but it was a different malfunction like someone decided to twist things from the inside.
They picked another delegate.
"Councilor Vaswedes will defend for the Paladin."

[[FFFUUUUU--- x: /beginning to think Pally enjoys torturing the characters]]
...We're screwed.
Scribbler fought the urge to just kill everything in a virtual five-mile radius. Of course the sneaky sonnuvagun would go and change the plot.
Now if there was only a book of their laws so she could find a loophole...

Emma went dangerously silent, fading back into the shadows as to remain unseen.
The litany of profanity and death threats in her head was most extraordinary.

Vaswedes stood next to Paladin, almost as uneasy as he was. The trial began.
A diplomat division Incola Noctis came up, and cleared his throat."It is a shame that we must do this," He motioned his hands melodramatically, and raised his voice."But it is also necessary, tell me good Folk; can we just let this Silver Heart wander our streets freely, possibly endangering us all?"
He went on to tell that it is not the case of just punishing a criminal, but for the safety of their culture, and way of life.
Farskon sent as message, he felt doomed. Leave, no need to watch.

Not. Leaving. Without. You.
The paene tried to pare off the hopelessness that clung to the message. There was a way. There had to be. Her hands clenched and unclenched, sending every bottle of ink in the building quivering.
Not leaving. Hang in there.

A thin layer of frost spread across the ceiling as Emma's hands balled into fists at her sides. Memories that were not her own sped through her head as she watched Farkson, remaining silent the whole time.
Violet sparks flickered in her aura, mingling with the frost.

People looked around nervously, some puzzled by Emma, and Scribbler. But the Council did not notice, and it was Vaswedes turn to speak. He would speak against every division members case.
"Good Folk, and friends what we are doing is not what we do," He began."If we do this than we are no better than the humans who resent and drive us from our lands."
He put a hand on Farskon's shoulder."This little thing, is like all humans. He may be one of the eeeh freak variety, but we did not bother to even file a record on his deeds."
"Perhaps we need an ally, not an enemy," He grumbled, and raised an eyebrow."I thought we were integrative, but apparently in times of haste that is not the case."
"This little thing will give us knowledge, not destruction!" He basically summed it up.
The Council members all had a thoughtful look.
[[And just so you know, this is the Simulation Vaswedes, and him defending the Paladin is not coincidence.]]

...What? Did he just- Then why is he so intent on killing-
Thoughts were tripping over each other in their eagerness to be heard. Scribbler had a dazed look on her face, barely processing what the vampire had said.
What was more surprising was the look on the Council members.
No, that can't be right...he must have some sort of ulterior motive. What's he planning...?
